[Q] Black Screen - My gf dropped her phone - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, my girlfriend dropped her Sprint Samsung Epic 4G that I rooted for her.
It hit my tile bathroom floor, and when she picked it up the screen was black.
Everything else seems to function. It turns on and off, she can even unlock it without the screen showing up, and can hear sounds, but the screen is completely black.
Any advice on how to fix a black display screen?
Thank you!
Edit: We just noticed a small crack in the right hand corner of the screen. Also, the menu buttons do light up, and the phone does receive phone calls and text, as we can hear the noises and use the touch screen to some degree.

Your in luck.. could be a loose connector.

Checking it out. Thank you.

Appears as though the screen itself is broken under the glass. Took all of it apart, except for the very last part.

Shocks from screen when charging

Hi not sure if anyone else has had this when charging my desire the screen seems to become electrically charged.
Hi, I've always experienced this with my desire, not directly from the screen but from the outer edge of the screen at the brushed steel bezel. I used to get this issue with my Powerbook, and also my Macbook too!
hi
i am not having this kind of things.
i would return my phone if i had
I was getting a lot of static shocks from touching things after holding my Desire a while back. Tried to avoid doing same now just in case it's the phone that is doing this.
thanks for the replys have got orange to send me a new one hopefully tomorrow
For those that can't feel a slight tingle, lightly run your finger up and down the edge of the phone when charging. its nothing to worry about, I get it when in bed with an electric blanket and lightly touch a brick wall !

I notice it more along the top front of the phone - around the ear piece. I've noticed this on a lot of electron gadgets, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.
Yer i noticed this, it stayed with me for a while aswell!
i was downstairs with the mrs, stroked her arm and it was like
a vibration in my fingers, but get it from the purple bit around the screen
i've noticed ive been shocking a LOT of people recently?
could it actually be the phone?
if so..
LOL!

[Q] G2's screen is nothing but black

Hello, My G2 did a face plant on a hardwood floor this morning and the screen is now black. I know it is responsive due to the haptic feed back of the lock screen and the buttons. I assume it's just the back light, but I can't see the screen if I hold it under the light. Does anyone have a solution? Searched and came up empty handed. Help is very welcomed!
I dropped mine many times, without it breaking the screen. But a week ago, mine finally took the fatal fall as well. I ended up getting one through the insurance, though it did cost 130. Don't know if its worth taking it to a repair shop and trying to get it fixed, as far unrooting and stuff there is a guide to do it without the screen and using adb.

That stinks, my screen is fine, it just wont show anything, not even scratched...
Yah mine was the same way. Just blank, and would appear white at times, kinda grey and black. Looks wise it was flawless.

I had the same issue arise when I accidentally put my knee (and entire body weight) on the screen of my first G2. Afterwards, the screen would not turn on, ever. I could tell things were working because of the haptic feedback still working, and I could raise and lower the volume, even accept calls.
Fortunately, it was within the first fourteen days of purchase - so I just took it to T-mobile and said: "This just quit working." They replaced it for free right then and there.
Did you try doing a master reset using the hardware keys?

Mine did the exact same thing. I just changed the screen. I couldn't do anything else. I couldn't revert back to stock since i couldn't see CWM. I asked for help and nobody help. Thats why I just voided the warranty and opened it up. I just bought my second screen because it crapped out again. If it does it again I'll just use my insurance for a new phone. Then I might get that sensation. looks great.

[Q] Dropped Phone Now screen is turning colors

Okay, so I dropped my phone the other day, first time ever and the screen started to turn pink in the spot that I dropped it on, and the pink is growing. What the hell is going on?
Attached picture shows pink area
That's phonjunctivitis, or more commonly known as pink screen.
seriously, I don't think you can do anything for that. I think the green pixels are dying.
You have two choices:
1. EDIT: This problem can't be "repaired". Your going to need a new phone.
2. Asurion Insurance claim for a dinc2...

It kind of looks to me like your LCD under the digitizer has a crack in it from what I see in the picture.

Broke my LCD, what are my options?

So I have literally no idea how this happened. I'm guessing I stepped on my phone while I was cleaning my room but the LCD had black and white stripes going up and down when I turned the phone on, and after a reboot my screen is completely black with a diagonal white stripe on one corner. However, the digitizer works fine and the backlight works. I'm able to answer calls and use the capacitive buttons. I found a replacement LCD through repairsuniverse.com for $35, and I'm wondering if this is my best options. Any G2/DZ users been through the same experience? Many thanks in advance.
I've done it before. It's not that bad. Make sure you do it slowly in a well lit area with clean hands. You've seen the video right? Make sure you have the phone separator tool or thick guitar picks

I am considering doing the same. Any updates on how the replacement attempt went?

Screen issues, need some help

During my daily walk last week, I was obviously sweating so badly that while talking it ended up getting sweat down thru the headphone jack. The bootanimation sounds, keypad tones for emergency dialer also. A faint purple tint can be seen while screen is in the "on" position but no graphics whatsoever. Is this the digitizer? If so, any other parts I should expect to go bad along with it? How complex is the swap out?
The moisture is just a theory based on the timing that the screen decided to stop working.
thanks in advance
It's not the digitizer buy I know what you mean, try pressing and sorta move the screen so it can come back, or replace the LCD, this phone is easy to take apart trust me

i have wiggled, pushed on, banged on, cursed at and anything else imaginable to attempt to get the screen back on. so this is a lcd issue and not digitizer? need to fix this device for the wife, so she will have something new to lose.

Just try all of the above on the wife. In the end it might work out better. Lol. Sorry. I've seen digitizers with LCD on eBay like $10 with free shipping. Honestly if you're replacing one you're right there on the other one.
