How to S-off after HTCDev Unlock? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I want to S-off my device again, so I don't need to reflash the Boot.img of every custom rom over and over again.
I've tried to flash my device with the DHD Stock 1.32 Rom to use jkoljo's method for S-off'ing my device.
So I put the PD98IMG.zip on my SDcard and let the HBoot flash it. After the reboot I got stuck at HTC Logo and this happens too after flashing PD98IMG.zip's boot.img
So is there another way to S-off my device while I'm HTCDevUnlocked or is it game over for S-off?
I've googled for some time on the net, but I couldn't find a DHD specific result.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks, will try it when I got the time
I guess, I need to be on an original rom or a Sense-rom
Do you know how I can flash an original rom from HTC itself? I thought it was like putting P98IMG.zip on the sd and let HBoot find it and flash it.
But after that I got stuck at HTC-logo, and flashing the boot.img doesn't work neither :s
I really don't know how to flash DHD's Froyo rom after (HTCDev) unlocking my device

Run the RUU of the OS you were last on, so if you were on WWE 2.50 run that RUU, or if you were on 3.12 Sense 3.0 then run that, relock the bootloader, and run attn1's Ace Hack Kit, it will automatically do the downgrade for you so you get S-OFF.

So I need to relock it before I can run that RUU?
Ok, I will try it when I have the time to do it.

That ROM isn't Bootloader/HBOOT 0.80.
This ROM is HBOOT 0.80:

This ROM isn't for HBOOT 0.80 either, I have goldcard and my Desire only ever lets me unroot to the Virgin RUU Rom.
This one worked for me with HBOOT 0.80
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_T2_Radio_32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09_release_137222_signed.exe
Same problem for myself, this is what worked for me on Bootloader 0.80:
1) Using goldcard in the phone.
2) Run this RUU
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
3) Plug phone in when prompted on the RUU.
4) Done...
I spent 3 days trying to get this to work, used countless different RUU which gave me the 130 error, in the end this was the one that worked for me. Hope you have the same success...
Exactly, as GCQ, just 2 days of nightmare. I managed to flash some ROMs, but they kept restarting the device every 10 minutes ) The same happened even after FroYo update without goldcard and not wiped system (I'd say not having the goldcard was the issue)

This does not work with 0.80 HBOOT ! ! !
There is no RUU for the 0.80 Bootloader Version.
Your HBOOT is irrelevant. You can only flash an RUU that has an equal or higher software number. So if you're on 1.21.405.2 you cannot flash 1.19.x.
done it, using this RUU :

Lost S-off

Need to return my leedroid 2.2.2 to stock.
Somehow i have lost eng s-off. Tried to install different radio but it wouldnt allow me, as bootloader says ship s-off. So have been advised that i need to downgrade again, and go through the s-off / root process again - Here
How do i go back to the easy rooted 1.32 stock again. I have an RUU for that version, but its not seeing the phone. Found a workaround - Here - but it only got so far before the phone froze, and the installer said it couldnt find phone.
Thought for a minute i had bricked the phone, so after crapping myself, decided to seek help here on how to return to 1.32!
Look at the rooting tutorials for 1.72.
AFAIK, you need to change the version number for this to work (to allow downgrade).
Do you have ship s-off or you do not?
You can't flash a radio because you don't have eng s-off, therefore no fastboot commands.
Just flash any ruu you want using the pd98img.zip method and all shall be stock. Launching an ruu update from your pc is notoriously unreliable and I would never recommend it.
Here is a guide to the method if you have no idea whet I'm talking about.

Had tried to flash pd98img from my sd card but kept getting some error (cant remember what it was now, will check again later). So thought maybe needed to use the RUU to go back to a stock ROM, but was just guessing at that. Will have another go at PM98IMG when i get home from work.
You have Radio S-OFF, so you do not have to use the downgrade guide. Just flash 1.32.405.6 stock ROM using PD98IMG.zip (get that from the downgrade guide), and then you can use my Radio S-OFF tool to go S-ON. You can also check the S-ON instructions in my tool thread.

Thanks. I tried last night to do this (though i was going to go the full downgrade route) but couldnt get it to install. But i was selecting the zip from sd card, which i think is wrong? (hboot will pick the zip up itself?)
Can you briefly explain to me what S-ON is? Im a total noob here, and always thought we were looking S-OFF to flash Kernels, Radios etc.
I owe you a thanks. Already handed out 5 today and cant give any more!

Why do you think you need to downgrade your hboot? What benefits do you expect to gain from doing so?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
as rootsu said, theres no benefits
but if you really want to then head over to the alpharev site and download the hboot downgrader, flash that either by fastboot or the pb99img.zip method, then run a froyo ruu
I already tried using the hboot downgrader but it didn't work.
I also tried unrevoked...

what bugs have you found?
you cant do that, but you can go to http://revolutionary.io and flash a custom hboot, then you can decide if you want to:
1) Flash the downgrader.img and run a Froyo RUU to remain stock OR
2) Flash custom recovery (and root or flash custom ROM)
What is the ultimate goal? You want to be rooted and with custom ROM?

Is there a way to S-on again ? or change HBOOT?
I try to downgrade but I still have the S-OFF hboot 6.093.1002.
Thank you
only way to s-on is to flash downgrader.img then run RUU. S-off is good though.

I tried several times but it did not work...
The procedure succeed when the downgrde is down I can read "[2] boot loader = bypassed"... others are OK
I tried also other think... flashing with different RUU Roms, works every time except the boot that didn't change...
Did you succeed overwriting the hboot after s-off on time?
I think I will leave it so
Thank you for the time you gave me

I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Windows Installation
0. Install HTC Sync (driver required).
1. Extract the downloaded zip file fully (do not just click on the zip file).
2. Enable USB debugging on your phone. Ensure 'ask me' is set under 'Connect to PC' setting with 'charge only'. Plug in your phone.
3. Double-click on the win-down file.
4. Follow instructions and wait.
I also used this one, don't know if it is the same
http://alpharev.nl/PB99IMG_downgrade.zip
Same problem
If I didn't use the right method, please let me know and explain me if possible.
Thank you.

Hey, take a look at this two site - Revolutionary tool (the evolution of the unrevoked tool)

I was able to re-root my desire with Android 2.3.3 & Hboot 1.02.001
I left trying to downgrade hboot and I install last leedroid HD, it seems to work (little bit slow). Strange thing, I can not flash the last radio...
Thank you all for your help.

Downgrade from Custom ROM to 2.3.3 S-OFF

Can someone point me in the right direction for a guide on how to downgrade from a custom rom to 2.3.3? My WFS is s-off but I just want to get it back to stock
if you are s-off you can just run any stock ruu and it should run. if not take your ruu and run a process monitor on it, remove the rom.zip and rename it pg56img.zip (i think that is the marvels code??) and sdcard it. boot to bootloader and the phone should find it and ask you to update.

[SOLVED] Help with hboot and s-on

Through a serious of mistakes I have ended up with a N1 hboot on my desire..:good:
The phone is working etc, but I'm not sure how I can go about fixing my hboot issue - I want to go back to a stock hboot, though with using Revolutionary it says that my current hboot (0.35.0017) is not supported.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Seeing that ur s-on, the only thing i can think of is running a desire ruu. Maybe someone else has an idea
Yea I'm a bit confused on how you ended up in this situation, but I think you should run the 2.3 ruu then use revolutionary to gain s-off.
1. Download the ruu here: http://d-h.st/d44
2. Follow these instructions to install it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45298337&postcount=21
Thanks for the link and ruu, sadly had no joy. It seemed like it checked the zip, and ran a bar at the top right, though nothing changed in the phone...I'd previously tried an ruu in Windows, which failed saying that it couldn't be installed on my device.
This happened when I was trying it a few different hboots, and I ended up applying the blackrose n1 hboot...to remove it I used the fastboot-w.exe (it comes with blackrose) which applied the stock n1 hboot and s-on.
I still have 4ext recovery on, currently running cyanogenmod 7.2.

I believe you will need to flash the downgrader first, before the ruu.
1. Download downgrader, and flash.
2, Download ruu, and flash.

My pb99img guide post is turning out to be pretty useful.
But he can't use it to flash the downgrader if he is s-on.
Yeah I think the main problem is the s-on issue- I might see if there's a n1 based solution that works.

Is blackrose a rooting method? Coz like if u use htcdev to unlock bootloader u need to relock the bootloader before u can run a ruu so there must be a simular way using blackrose.

It's a way of changing hboots on the n1, similar to alpharev. I've not read up in depth, but it seems like quite a powerful tool. I am also considering trying to flash an ruu via fastboot as mentioned on the htcdev site.
Well the fastboot method failed in the same way the exe method failed; with a signature verify problem.
FIXED!
At last I had some time to sit down and figure out how to sort this.
Step 1 - reinstall blackrose, gives desire s-off
Step 2 - disable hboot protection in blackrose
Step 3 - fastboot install new hboot and recovery
===profit??
Interesting that blackrose works at all on the desire, it's a pretty cool little package: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1270589
