Search for the .apk files and install them manually?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
How do I get em to become system apps? I have the. Apk files but can't get em to work...maybe I have bad apk's? They were given to me so their not my originals,I can't find the originals.
Are you putting them in system/app or are you finding them with a file explorer and trying to install them like a regular app?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
voice was never a system app so market download will cure that. I'd reflash your selected rom to fix gtalk
I have tried to drop them in system/app but nothing happens, I've also tried to install the normal way, do I need to use terminal emulator to install them? Cuz I don't know how exactly.

I can't download from market or I'd have solved this already ={
Shouldn't have to mess with the terminal to install any apps. Looking at my phone, Google voice is in data/app and gtalk is in system/app. You shouldn't have any trouble installing from the market though, have you tried reflashing the rom that you're on?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yeah I tried flashing back but still no talk or voice app, I did get Gvoice back on here but the talk app is the most important. Would it hurt me to just go crazy and drop a copy of it in all my folders and just hope one catches it?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Well gtalk only belongs in system/app, I don't think it would do any good anywhere else.. What rom are you using? If its an AOSP rom, did you flash GAPPS (googleapps) after flashing the rom?

I have CyanogenMod-7.0.3-Inc I also don't have Verizon though that's what it says. I have cricket wireless and last time I flashed a new ROM it messed up my radio I haven't flashed a new one since getting it fixed cuz I'm obviously not so good with this. How can I know if a new ROM would mess up my radio again
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
I'm not sure about cricket, I have seen where people have had to go into EPST settings, etc, to get data and everything working on cricket. If you already have those things configured, flashing a new rom shouldn't revert those changes, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'd recommend performing a backup first, then if it doesn't work you can just revert to where you were before. Did you flash the Google apps zip after flashing cyanogenmod? You need to do that in order to get certain Google apps that cyanogen can legally not bundle with their rom. I would reflash the rom, then flash GAPPS immediately after the rom (don't reboot THEN flash GAPPS, do it all at once) and you should be fine. And remember, always backup!
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Ok so make a backup, then reflash my current rom AND GAPPS,then reboot? And where can I find the Gapps.zip to flash?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Yep, backup, reflash the rom, then immediately after (before reboot) flash Google apps, reboot, then your market should be working fine. Here's a link for the gapps zip http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip

I flashed it from rom manager (miui.us ) and thrn I flashed 3.0 superuser but I can't get root

well without root you can't flash a rom. There is already a su app built in. If not just download it from market. Doesn't need to be 3.0
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
No it says to enable it in options but ites not there
Sent from my g2 using XDA App
Use the built-in Superuser app, don't download one from the market.
Its in the "Tools" folder on the home page. then click on Superuser. Then hit menu > Settings > ROOT permission set to "on".
How do I revert I installed 3.0 right away

hes gonna have to. and next time make a nandroid backup or dont flash a random new superuser app when ones included
Just curious because I don't. I just really don't have a use for it. I do everything manually or through adb. At times, It seems more work than doing it manually.
I do. I am selective with what I use it for, but I do use it.
Absolutely not just my preference

I use it sometimes. I prefer to use CWM cuz I like to wipe myself instead of automating it.
Sent from my rooted, MiUi/Go Launcher EX combo.
I use RM mostly to flash little zip files. Touch install ROM from SD card, select the zip you wanna flash, and don't wipe anything.
Way easier than going into recovery to flash a zip.
I've been checking out lots of custom lock rings lately...

I use it to make and manage my backups.

Okay, I was just curious because I'm thinking about giving my nephew that option. However, I don't want their to be any issues. He has a droid incredible 2 that a fixed. LOL.
When I try to use ROM manager it says I need to install CWM, but it already is, will it break anything if I let it install over it?
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
Nope. Rom manager likes to keep cwm current also.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
The only thing I use ROM Manager for is making nandroid backups, because I like to give my backups descriptive names (usually including ROM and kernel names) in addition to the date and time. AFAIK you can't give backups customized names in clockworkmod.

Couldn't you just rename a nandroid with astro or something?

Sure, but why would you do that knowing RM let's you name the backup?

Because then you wouldn't have to use Rom Manager

you'd have to edit the name in the md5sum file as well I do believe.

No , it will not break anything , and there is an option to override that request ( some times don't work ) . usually that request comes on first use of Rom manager

As i remember Rom manager name a backup without spaces . if you named it wrong . Rom Manager will not be able to use that backup .
Personally, I think RM is a very valuable tool. For backups, installing certain zips, and quick access to see what some of the latest roms and nightlies are up to.

i agree , very useful software
i guess its just preference, but i prefer to do everything via recovery. That way i have total control. Its great that so many people love ROM manager, but i guess i'm just old school.

Lot of ordinary users don't even know what is recovery ( for example the Not Rooted users )

use superoneclick, btw, cm10 comes pre-rooted I guess?! maybe theres something corrupt..
you should have installed CWM after you rooted already.

i got same problem.. did you solved it?
It should be already rooted... BTW!?
Ηι, someone was able to do it and how?
I have the same problem, actually this is the 2nd time.
I installed clockwork recovery, flashed cm9, it wasn't rooted.. Tinkered around and it worked. I remember it being fairly simple and therefore I took little notice of what I did.
After screwing my phone up I flashed again.. Now no su access, no root access.. And i cant seem to surpass it. Clockwork works fine, and superoneclick does not
Flashed rom and su patch from maclaw..
If anyone could shed light id be very grateful.

If I remember correctly, cm9 had an option to enable disable root access for apps and adb. Have you checked if you have the right options enabled in the settings ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I've tried root apps only and root apps + adb
Also tried disabling root and applying su patch.. Nothing! It sucks cos I hate bloatware. Cm10 was rooted using the dev options in settings, but the rom was too unstable for me
Sent from my GT-S5660 using XDA Premium HD app
Try following these steps. Might work
1. Flash Stock ROM back.
2. Root the phone.
3. Install Clockwork MOD
4. Then install CM9 RC2 by maclaw
5. After that, install the patch through CWM
These steps worked for me.
It worked for me! Yaay su permission has never felt better
Thank you!

Can you provide more details? When you say "install system apps" do you mean directly copying to /system/app ? Or installing a system apk through the package installer? Is root access working correctly for any/other programs? What exactly are you trying to install?
