Honest question.. You only get 2 gigs for free.. With just Box you get 5 gigs free.. and they have random promotions.. For like every person you invite to box you get a gig free or storage up to 16 gigs worth.. and random huge promotions.. I got 50 gigs free lol.. and titanium backup uses it also.
Why do all of you use drop box? box is way better
Box limits the upload size on free accounts to 100mb, unless u managed to get the promo of either a 200mb upload limit or got lucky like me and got a 1gb limit. If i didn't have the 1gb limit I wouldn't use it as much since I have box.net and minus accounts plus I had a drop box account but it's only got 2.5gb of storage, on box I have 55gb and minus I have 13gb so really have no use for dropbox

Honest question. Why do you guys like Tide laundry detergent? Cheer does the same job and you normally get more for the same price. The laundry machines don't care and my shirts come out looking the same no matter which one I use. I got a free packet in the mail lol...and the local laundromats use it also.

I have 8.5gb free space on dropbox...you get 250mb for every referred person up to 8gn...still don't know how I got 8.5. Convenient syncing, TB also uses it [not that I use it]. Unlike box, my upload size isn't limited, nor my link availability.
Lately i cant get my download link from dropbox, anyone know why ?

Dropbox is seamless, with all devices, great LAN sync for PCs, and also many third party apps use dropbox ie phone to chrome app/extension.
Plus lifehacker endorses it heavily so it has a wide following. Shrug.

well.. i'm 30, i've been using various programs and technology and whatnot for a long time. i went back to school recently to finish a bfa in motion capture and computer graphics. they used to use the internal server to store files from motion capture shoots and various projects, which sometimes got erased because IT and students had access to them. i suggested that we use dropbox because its very easy, and integrates so well, and only the class has access to it. we now make drop box accounts for each class/project, and all files are distributed accordingly. its very easy. thats really what it boils down to. the file limit is also good, because there isn't one. the school ended up paying for accounts to have large files accessible and thats what we use because of it.
its really cool to be able to access it from our phones, home computers, and school, without having to do anything other than log in. that's probably why its popular. i know there's other services available, but none are as easy to work with, and when a university is paying the bill, you can get whatever you want, and it works extremely well. plus, i personally installed the beta and did some media uploads and got 15gb for free, which is kinda cool. i really don't use that much of it because its mainly my work files for my job, just so i don't have to carry around a drive or worry about losing or forgetting a thumb drive, but its very useful. between phonemypc and dropbox, i always have access to anything i could ever need. esp when i forget something at home and i'm at work, and i have to log in to my computer from my phone, and do a copy/paste into my dropbox, and have my files accessible 2 minutes later. that's saved my ass i don't know how many times.

Hey guys, just wondering how much data would be acceptable for tethering use to my tablet. I know sprint is unlimited data but can't I get kicked off if they find out I'm tethering illegally or whatever by using to much data? Just wondering because I used about 2 gigs in just about 4 days tethering so I don't want to use too much over the next month and get my whole family kicked off the network. Thanks.

Through tethering though or it doesnt matter? Thanks
Between Slacker, youtube, nav, netflix, and all the other things I've started using since I got my E4GT in November, I started burning through an average of 5 gigs a month just in on-phone use.
They can't differentiate between on-phone and 'non-sanctioned' tethered usage except when you use a truly unrealistic volume of data. The guy who burned 50 gigs downloading torrents or whatever is an idiot because that is OBVIOUSLY tethered usage. People like him are the ones that are going to ruin it for all of us. People like him will be to blame when Sprint drops unlimited on-phone.

Thanks for the reply but yea I was just worried about using too much data and getting my fam kicked off sprint. I used 500 mb today alone tethering to my tablet so I was curious what sort of limit i should stop myself at. Being on the ICS leaks, I put the data limit using the built in settings app for 10 gigs. Do you think that would be too much even?

NO, I have hit 10 several times with just my phone.
I agree, 10 wouldn't be out of the question given the type of data-burning apps we have at our leisure. It would be at the high end, but absolutely reasonable.
On 3g I hit 8gb on 4g I hit 7gb and that's since I found out about foxfi no root required just download and run it its a free tethering app

I would not worry about it on a tablet , but tethered to a xbox or laptop etc they can tell the difference in your usage so go easy on said devices if you use them tethered ..

log in to Dropbox on the phone. you'll get an email asking you to confirm you want the 50GB's a few minutes later. complete that process and you are good to go.
keep in mind, the offer doesn't stack. so if you did it once with the SGS3 you can't do it again.

the 50G is for two years. I think dropbox sends you a warning before, they won't delete your data without notifying you.

what i've read the account goes read only. I don't think it will flat out delete all the data. I'm not aware how long it will let you stay in that limbo however.
(IE, using the 'read only' account to stream movies over and over again). i would imagine at some point it will start deleting after you've accessed it enough.)

From https://www.dropbox.com/help/333/en
If your paid account expires or is downgraded, or the space granted to your account by a promotion expires, all of the files in your Dropbox folder will still be available to you on your computers, phones, and via the Dropbox website. However, Dropbox will only sync the amount of space allotted to your Dropbox account. This means that new files added to your Dropbox will not sync to other computers or be available online until the amount of disk space used in your Dropbox drops below the amount of Dropbox space allotted to your account.
This is a great promotion for people. Id almost rather have the big dropbox account than an sd card slot. All my stuff lives on there, and unlike the iPhone it becomes a whole other usable drive with your PC. The options are near endless especially if you get dropsync going, automatically transferring your media and such. Best cloud service there is.

Only downside is if you don't have a signal or data, then you don't have access to your files. What I don't understand is everyone asking about the 32GB variant of this phone. Why not just buy a 16GB version and buy a 32GB or 64GB microSD card for under 50 bucks and call it a day. It's the beauty of having an SD slot on the phone, unlike the Iphone or the LG Nexus.
Or am I missing something? Which is quite possible.

Because people need more than 16GB + 64GB.
As for Dropbox's expiration date of two years, I'm sure most of us will upgrade to another phone by then that will probably offer 50 to 100GB of free dropbox space.

MediaFire happens to be one of the more well known cloud storage solutions available. And while they have a nice offer, 50GB of free cloud-based storage (and a 200MB file upload size), there has been one item that may have kept them from being fully adopted by Android users — the lack of an app. That being said though, the MediaFire Android app has recently come available.

Is there a legitamate reason to upgrade to the 1.50 per month plan? Is there a benefit? I'm only looking for to backup files and pics. And I'm confused as to what it means by limited for the timeframe that we can store our files on the free account. Anyone know what that means?
Like all the other free storage, its a year more than likely, then after that, you pay the fee or they cut you down to like 2g....most of them are this way. You can only get a couple gig for free with no limits

I have had the free mediafire account since 2009, I still have 50GB of available space and all the other benefits and limitations of the free plan.
I looked into this but truly I feel Adrive is a better deal. You get 50gb free with a 2gb file size upload limit or 1000 files at a time. I've had this service for 5 years almost and they have never decreased it, only increased the file limit. The only issue is the android app kind of sucks but it gets the job done. It's definitely something to look into.
FREE UNTIL 9/26/2013
From now through Sept. 26, you have the opportunity to score an extra 10GB of Google Drive space, no extra charge.
The requirement: Install the new Quickoffice app for Android or iOS--which, incidentally, is also now free. Then sign into your Google account via that app. Presto! You get another 10GB of gratis storage.
Google recently purchased Quickoffice, and the fruits of their labor have finally bloomed. The app is now being offered for free for both Android and iOS, so you can do your document creation and editing without paying a cent.
Best of all, if you download the app, you can get 10 extra gigabytes of Google Drive storage for free! Sign in with your Google account in the app by September 26 and you’ll receive that 10GB for two years. Don’t expect to see it immediately; Google says it’ll be added to your account in the next few weeks.

"FREE UNTIL 9/26/2013" ... definitely not true, it will be free without restriction, that means also AFTER that date.
"Google recently purchased Quickoffice,..." ... also not true, at least I think "recently" should be maybe couple of months max, not more than a year in this case. In this case is June 2012.
from your last post "But it's now being announced that's it's available for free until the 26 of Sept." ... also not true, it will be free without restriction (as I already told).
You are only right about that until 26.9 you should get free space.
Also, I see what did you probably mean with "FREE UNTIL 9/26/2013" now, you were talking about that free space. But from the context of subject of this topic it was not clear.
But nevermind, Happy QuickOfficing for everybody.

Is it 20 GB or 20TB, because even OP states in title 20TB, then lists 20GB in his posts and the picture clearly shows 20000 GB = 20TB.
Let me see: with my monthly allocation of 5GB per month for high speed data on my line, I could upload my maximum allocation of data to their servers for next 333 years before they get full, WOW.
What I found... Since I am always looking for better could storage options
So here is what I found.
It's 100GB free, but you can upgrade to their ultimate plan and get the 20TB storage for $70/year since you are a "Samsung" user. Someone will have to verify if this offer is available for other brand users, I have a feeling that it is and is an introductory offer. This when compared to the Amazon storage plan I am using for photos, videos and docs is $60/ year for 1TB of storage.
Don't know if anyone used Amazon, but I signed up when they advertised "Unlimited Storage" for prime members for $60. About a year later they then dropped it to 1 TB and started offering other storage plans. Felt cheated, but that was the best available. Google is also around the same ballpark. If any of you know of any other service that will backup pictures straight from the phone for cheaper, please let me know. Comparing Amazon to this, looks like a great deal, but yet to do research on reviews, security, privacy etc.

For iOS, it's a set and forget. I use it to backup my photos and videos, mostly.
They have a basic app for Microsoft OS, and it does backup up your data reliably. To my knowledge, they don't deduplicate if you have the file in more than one directory, and I don't see a way to move a file once it is uploaded to Degoo. It looks like you would have to delete and reupload the file. Maybe someone else knows how to do it?
In Linux, I use the web app. I generally go to the My Files button, which shows me everything that I have backed up, by PC. I can then upload files into one of those collections.
There is an option you can set to keep files on the backup, even if they are deleted from the source system.
