try using the autoroot
in extras there is an option to reboot to download mode

Make sure you charge your battery first.
If it is less then 20%, it will not work.
It's functioning as designed, so that you do not lose power when flashing in download mode.
After you charge your battery for a good hour, with the phone off, try again and it should work.
HIT MY THANK YOU BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW to the other posters above, DON'T POST IF YOU DON'T KNOW (thinking you know does not count). People like you piss me off when I Google for a solution and find threads filled with your utterly useless gibberish...

I will try auto root so far fd05 is eating battery and acting flaky

Priceless

Sorry buddy you're bricked, same thing happened to me. Take it to Sprint, don't let them find out it was rooted and you'll get a free one in 2 days from Samsung if you have warranty.

Not bricked but recovery is not working right will need to go back to fd02

have you tried powering off the phone remove the batt. plug into comp then reinserting the batt while holding power?
oh yeah and once again wrong section. lol.

Hehe gotta put this in here

If he can't get into download mode or recovery, he is bricked.

OP are you relating everything that happened?
This is the first ever I have heard of a successful flash of an ODIN or ODIN OneClick where you cannot go back into ODIN DL mode.
Pull battery, then as you press and hold Power+VolDown, reinsert battery.
If it is too difficult a sequence, go into extra options of Auto Root, and select Reboot Download.

oops forgot the volume down. in my post earlier. Thanks Sfhub.

Autoroot worked and i went back to FD02 but recovery is still not opening right. FD05 did something weird I might just do a full restore with KIES then go back to FD02. Pulling the battery and hitting power and down while putting battery in worked once.

Yeah, keep trying. I have better luck with a fully charged battery. I have had Odin freeze several times in the past 2 weeks as well.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Take out your battery, leave it out for 30 seconds, then with it still out, go to download mode and odin. If that doesn't work try a different cable and/or usb port.

Follow Z's advice and go into download mode with no battery. The usb cable will power the phone. Then Odin from there.

I followed the steps here:

Were you using the phone slot for the tar file or pda? Think a complete tar needs to go into the pda slot. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Do a battery pull. What were you flashing on top of what, from which recovery? Try wiping cache/format.
It might help people to know what you were doing just before this happened.
Were you flashing something (what?) via Odin, recovery, cwm touch recovery?
If you were in the middle of flashing a modem I don't believe you should try a battery pull but if you were flashing a ROM and got stuck on reboot then I think it's safe (I did it earlier today but wait for more informed responses from people who know more).
I was flashing CM9 over an older version. Is there a way to go back to stock and then go from the start? Using Odin?
Pull battery and try again...or 3 button recovery and factory reset...

yes i can get into odin mode
If you can go into Odin mode then flash one of sfhub's one click packages.
edit: I'm not familiar with cm9 builds at all, maybe you should check with one of the devs as to whether it's safe to odin a one click over cm9, just to be on the safe side.

Is it just me, or is this just one licky guy? Most people who have flashed the GTi9100 kernel have bricked their pjone, as it disables the usb port. We all have the SPH D710. You sir are one lucky gent. Please be careful of what you flash.

Before you resort to a battery pull, especially if Odin never recognized your phone (no COMxx showed up in the Odin screen) you can hold down the power button on your phone and reboot.
I don't know that one (battery pull) or the other (power cycle) is better but I always try to power cycle my phone before I resort to pulling the battery, if for no other reason than preserving the life of my battery cover (those little clips wouldn't be hard to break).

Btw having i9100 doesn't necessarily mean someone flashed the international version of the software. I don't know the reasoning behind it but when I have the yellow triangle show up it is almost always accompanied by the i9100 text.

[TIP] Going from an ics to gb rom

I have been using this for a long time, but many people dont know about this. I have heard that flashing an older nandroid from ics could cause a hard brick so this is used for precation
1. make a nandroid backup
2. copy nandroid backup file to computer (/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup)
3. flash whatever ics rom you want
4. if you don't like it, go back to stock gingerbread, flash CWM recovery
5. copy the backup from your computer to the same folder on your phone
6. run a nandroid restore
Just a little tip for people who didnt realize that they can do this

No offense but you didn't read enough before flashing. First link was for the global device and NOT the E4GT.
Try going into download mode (vol. down and power) and see if your PC recognizes it. If by some miracle it does, download the FF18/FH13 rooted one click and flash. If not and without a microSD card you will need to either get one to flash or JTAG the phone.

You're right I didn't read it enough time. I use glasses so I wasn't using and did it to quick.
Look in the E4GT Android Development Forum for a thread starting with [ODIN][TAR] and then indicating FF18 or FH13. FF18 thread was started by sfhub, FH13 by rwilco12.
Sorry to not include links but haven't figured how to have it show a thread URL so that I can copy it yet.
