I have galaxy nexus and tried using
Female/female adaptor to join my nexus cable (micro usb?) To my ps3 controllers cable (weird mini usb?) And it wont pick it up. Still tryn though, i have high hopes for this to work without rooting my phone. There has to be a way, any help would be appreciated.

The PS3 controller uses bluetooth and doesn't transmit any signals through the usb cable as far as I know.
Try pairing it with bluetooth, and then use an app to map the controls.
Thanks but it didnt work.even with BT/USB joycenter app it won't find it. And for the six axis app I need to root the phone. I don't want to root it just for a controller.

hate to nag but is there any controller apart from the wii that I can use on this phone without root?
Done a lot of googleing and am worried I'll end up wasting cash trying **** that won't work.
I just wanna play some of my emulated games better. Lol
Cheers for any help

Xbox 360 USB controller work just fine.
cheers. I'll give it a go

Just root it ya big baby =p
I have the sixaxis app and its the single greatest thing my phone does. You won't go back to playing touch screen games after having physical control. I seriously can't recommend it enough - rooting is simple enough for it to be well worth the reward.

I know there's hundreds of threads about this but I need to be sure. Is there any way for me to use my ps3 control ( or any other apart from the wii) that I can use with my emulators on my Samsung galaxy nexus??
I have read that ice cream sandwich has native use of the ps3 controller. I tried using a female/female USB to connect my controller to my phone but it won't register in any games or on Bluetooth.
Im really not confident rooting my phone as I've just got it and I'm not used to android yet.

You need to root your phone to do that. I was hoping I could avoid it. Plus i can't the compatibility checker to work, possibly because its not compatible. I'm trying to do it via pc.
Lol. Really not giving up.

New maps! F**k yeah!
About time! That USB OTG cable I've just bought will finally get some decent usage Fed up of playing the same 2 game modes on the same 2 maps all the time...

I'm level 3 now, can't wait for the final version!
Awesome! How likely is it that our progress gets wiped for the proper release?
Yer its gonna be great.

Probably quite likely. But maybe if you sign into the final product with the i.d you use now you may get a reward of some sort for taking part in the beta. Would make sense.

so after the last reset, i thought ill try another weapon. working on plasma and shottie like in previous games seems boring, and noob tube is just too expensive. i dont have that much time to play.
so i bought an assault rifle.
holy macarron. playing with lv1 - 3 with that thing is a walk in a park.
the clip is big enough and the bullet really hurts.
It would really annoy me if they start charging for it. They better not
And take out the noob tubes

I'm sure there will be some in app purchase or something along those lines. They are making a great game and they need to make money somehow. Imagine if we went to work for nothing. I'm sure we can progressively earn money to buy weapons.

Would I be able to connect my Gnex to my TV using a micro USB->HDMI adapter, and then connect a Bluetooth controller and play games? Would this work or would they interfere with each other somehow? Thanks!

What kind of controller did you use? I'm having a hard time finding one, keeping reading about having to install drivers?
Anyways if this works then I don't get all the hype about ouya.

I have only tried a PS3 controller, which worked fine in my experience. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscompatibilitychecker <-- you do need an app to get it working (that is just the checker you would actually need the paid app). I am sure there are other controllers, but since I already owned a PS3 so I haven't really shopped around.
What is the hype about the Ouya? It is inexpensive. Not everyone has a smartphone or a tablet. Even fewer have one that can manage HDMI out. A lot of the ones that do, are more expensive than the Ouya, especially when you also factor in the higher end internal specs of the Ouya. Also you would have to consider the price of docks, cables, and a controller into this price.
Hello,
Will this work with our S3?

The PS3 controller can be bought for 1K-1.5K if you look hard enough.
I doubt many apps are compatible with the PS2 controller, but I cannot say for sure.

It's pointless to invest in a controller if u dnt have the ps3 itself. for mobile gaming only !!
i have my i7 & gtx 650 ti for that already.
I also want to know, becasue I have a XBox controller that I use on my PC and it does not work with my S3...

No, a PS3 controller is able to connect via bluetooth to some phones, including the Galaxy S3 using the sixaxis app.
A PS2 controller won't do that.

As far as I know, XboX 360 controllers can only connect to the S3 via wire, PS3 via wire and Bluetooth (I got one myself). Other controller, no clue but I guess it will be difficult without Sixaxis for other controllers to map the buttons if the game does not support it native.

Can you link the right cable adapter to use to connect a 360 controller to the S3? Is it just a S3 compatible OTG cable? I've only heard of using the ps3 controller, but since I actually have a couple corded 360 controllers I'm quite interested if that's an option.

I read somewhere that you just need a converter wire from your XboX 360 connection to the S3's connector (micro USB?). I bought them quite cheap in an IT mall as it is the same process the first time you connect your PS3 controller to the S3 and those wires are working fine.
Wow that's cool, looks like android will recognize and use the 360 controller with a standard usb-otg cable, I'm surprised no one ever talks about this (I only ever see threads about dualshock and wiimotes). Thanks for the heads up.

as per this video, Xbox 360 controllers should work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46IiRyigUH0 or this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrZ-xnzYVLA
I play Gameloft's MW3 and Asphalt 7... according to the second video, it won't work.. but I may need to try the app from market to map the buttons.. thanks
I have at home 2 logitech game controllers. Same type as PlayStation.
One is infrared and one is with cable.
I m leaving to Asia soon and I am asking you is it possible to set some good games on nexus7 and play with 2 controllers on a TV.
I will be stuck in hotel for a while. I would be interested by race games...
I still wait for the nexus 7. What do I need?
One controller should definitely work, my PS3 for instance works via wire or Bluetooth. Never tried two though.

on I am not a stone
I've always had problems with 2 controllers.
Most mapping software just maps hardware buttons to a virtual keyboard letter. Each directional pad needs 4 plus all the buttons. Normally both controllers respond as the same controller (player1) making multiplayer impossible with that setup.
I've tried on multiple occasions using other android devices and ended up buying an Ouya console, which performs really awesome at emulators. They even have official emulator support. I've had no problem playing with multiple controllers and lots of the Ouya exclusive games are built for support of multiple players.
1 controller, then yea no problem. Ouya + Controller for $99 is great though. The Ouya controller feels like a Bluetooth 360 pad. I bought mine specifically for emulators, the other games are just icing on the cake.
