Has anyone tried this battery yet?
2300mah battery from Ebay
Do the GSM and CDMA version both use the same size battery? Would this one be a universal replacement?
Its 2350, and doesn't say anything about NFC.
Also wouldn't it need a new back plate?
And no the LTE and GSM versions use a different battery shape completely. Not interchangable =/
don't trust no-name battery capacity claims.
with the same battery tech, capacity will be basically a function of volume... so if it fits in the galaxy nexus, with the current cover... it's the same volume... so my guess is this is the same or less capacity in reality.
its possible its a more advanced battery technology, but for $6 on ebay , doubt it.
Do the GN batteries need to have an antenna for the NFC or is that integrated into the cover?
I don't have my GN yet, ordered from Amazon. Can't wait to get it!

The NFC is integrated in the battery, not the cover
And you don't need to buy a battery with NFC capability, it's not required

This. Some people here act like NFC is required for the phone to function..
Correct me if I am wrong.
The antenna for the NFC is located in the Samsung battery that came with our phone. If we want NFC, we should get a battery that has built-in antenna too.
So, if we get a generic battery off Ebay, we'll lose the NFC function?
I agree, it's not a deal killer, not much you can do with NFC right now.
Hey,
Like many of you, I am extremely interested in the HTC One X. However, my one concern is the battery life - and is the only thing that is preventing me from pre-ordering one (and claiming the free MediaLink HD included with phones4u).
I currently have a Motorola Milestone, and have had so for around 26 months now - I believe the battery in that is about 1,450mAh - however, is effectively dead now getting no more than two hours solid use (apps). Now, I could easily go and buy a new battery for the Milestone - but won't as I am hoping to upgrade within a month.
My concern is therefore the non-removable, 1,800mAh battery found in the One X. Does anyone have any idea how long the One X will last with a good amount of usage, as I don't want to buy a phone that is going to have a poor battery life, that will become even worse within one year (two year contracts, after all)?
Thanks
My Galaxy Nexus with 1750mah battery, roughly the same size screen (4.65"), also 720p but different screen tech lasted about 3h10m screen on time on average :/
Which was obviously poor, but there are lots of factors that will affect this HTC, eg better processor (with companion core), Super LCD 2 might be more energy efficient plus HTC software should hopefully result in better battery but I'm not holding out for anymore than 4 hour screen on time tbh

Also as far as lasting the length of the contract goes, according to their website carphone warehouse offer 24 month warranty for the phone, 12 for accessories and battery.
So if it was to get worse you'd be able to send it off for repair and they'd probably just replace as I doubt they'd be able to fix it with it being unibody.

Hmm, going to change settings on my Milestone to see what battery life I get out of that without touching it (screen on). I would be disappointed with 4 hours screen time to be fair.

Truth be told, the reason I did not buy Galaxy Nexus was because the poor battery life and 16GB storage. If you go to gsmerana.com and find the galaxy nexus battery result, you'd be suprise because GN is MOST worst battery life test expecially in web browsing roughly survive 3 hour in GSM model.

This one don't worry about it. In my research, I found out that when on idle, HTC One X will use the fifth core to save battery life. Whenever you watch video(this one most benefit to me ), it's up to 60% of power saving using 4 cores which is 12 hours. The lack of mirco SD card also helped to improve performance and battery life since don't require additional card reading. 4 cores actually increase performance while increase battery life when browsing, gaming, video and others.

I too wonder this. I guess the overall finish looks slightly better without a removable back cover. The lack of the MicroSD slot is not a big deal for me, simply because of the good amount of internal storage - and the 25gb Dropbox storage that comes included. I am trying to hold out from pre-ordering, with the (bleak) hope of seeing the Galaxy S3 event announced before the 5th of April. I guess the majority of deals available will still be available after the release.
Another problem for me, is HTC's habit of releasing an unnecessary number of phones a year, compared to the S series which is an annual flagship affair. Having said that, I have never been a fan of the "Home" button on the S3 - but that wouldn't stop me buying it if it topped the One X on the majority of key features (erm, a removable battery for a start?)

Actually I see no point of having removable battery cover because when you dropped a phone, the phone will actually break out..battery cover, battery and even worst SIM-card. My father has damaged his phone because of constantly dropping phone and I have to repair it piece by piece. About your second problem, don't worry about it. HTC already stated that they will focus on "Quality" not "Quantity". That is why you saw One-series were based on this idea.

The sim card wouldn't fall out if it is kept in the place it is now. The issue is the battery is really small (at first glance) for such a powerful phone, and if you can't even carry a spare..
I have had most HTC phones in the last 3 years. I have never had to use my spare.
What i do have though is my small APC portable battery pack

I don't fear about battery life on tegra 3. Its perfect on my ATP. Companion core actually works great. Usually it only loses 1% of battery over night.
And 32GB should be enough for me.

Try to compare with Galaxy nexus regarding battery..
HTC one x has,
- larger battery
- SLCD2, which uses less power over amoled
- tegra 3 has companion core too
So, to compare to the latest nexus, the ONE X should offer much better battery.
..... So, cant be too bad.

1% over night with the atp? with or without doc?
That would mean, since the htc one x has 1800mah, and the transformer has 6930mah, that we lose 3-4% over night, which is pretty good.
Hi,
I've read a lot of.messages about battery life and type and I've still not understood if it is a li-polymer or a "simple" li-ion battery... Is there any official info that states it is a li-polymer battery? This is really important since you almost need you recharge the device once a day and a standard li-ion battery would loose some of its capacity after a year (and given the present battery life, a further reduction could be a problem)... I'm concerned about battery capacity if I keep recharging the device, because after a year I wouldn't be able to replace the battery....

A lì-polymer is also a lì-ion battery (a sort of evolution I think), so what it's written on the back may not be an answer... Right?

According to wikipedia, li-poly batteries are lithium-ion polymer and sometimes known as li-ion too, so the back of the box puts us back to square one.
HTC support and contacts via elevate confirmed it's "Def" Li-Po .
But yeah i noticed Li-ion on the packaging too
Mind you the specs for the one series aren't exactly accurate, they don't mention FM radio or the 5ghz wifi frequency on a lot of the marketing material.

Hey everyone
So there's plenty of people complaining about the xperia s' battery and for those that are happy with opening their phones up there may be some good news. I was checking out youtube and this person seems to have made a pretty cool mod which allows you to change the battery like (relatively) normal.
I can't post links as I'm new but just search on youtube xperia s battery mod
So that's all good but if I do take the leap and make this mod which battery can I use? From my research it's a BA800 battery sony are using. I found these on ebay uk from china (either search xperia s battery or ba800 battery you can get like 2 and a dock charger for about £6) but as it looks like a cheap third party battery I'm not sure I trust them. To be honest I have used cheap ones before and so have plenty of other people but are they safe?
Think about it with the extra battery it would eliminate the trouble of having to ration your battery when your on a trip or that odd day you are using it heavily etc.
So what do you guys and girls think? I was surpised this hadn't already been talked about on the fourms but I guess it's due to the xs being fairly new and people won't really need to change batteries for a while.
That's pretty clever, make's it seem silly why Sony didn't make the battery interchangeable in the first place.
This shows how to take out the inner back cover http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/04/30/xperia-s-disassembly-guide/
That is a wise idea!:good:
I think I will do this soon. Let's tell you the result and the DIY tutorial..... if it really success.... :>
Hmm...
I have heard something about after you disassemble the device and take the battery out the NFC stops working because it's located above the battery?
It's an interesting video though, my battery is just fine so I wouldn't think about it, but it's nice that someone thought of a way to change the battery easily if needed.
Yes, I did it tonight.
Just remove the back cover, un-screw 10 pcs of screw. Cut the u-channel on the base cover. I have taken many photo and let's upload to this site later. It is now HKT 2:00, I need sleep...
Anyway, successful to DIY the battery replacement modification. Every function including NFC work.
Any update with this? I really want to give this a try.

think it's only worth the hassle of unscrewing things etc if you can get hold of an extended battery, rather than still having to keep swapping batteries out. if anyone finds a battery that's say double the capacity of the stock one, let us know and i'll gladly take a screwdriver to the thing

Allrighty...
I have done the mod too.
To anyone interested, one could purchase an extra middle cover for the phone and cut the hole in that.
Just in case you do not want to mess up the original middle cover.
Unfortunately, without realizing it , somehow my loud speaker got destroyed during the "transplant" operation, so i am waiting on a new one .(weird situation, i did not even force

I got a bigger capacity battery but didnt notice any improvements. After reading a lot of forum posts, my conclusion is that all ofrece the "high capacity batteries" are just regular batteries with higher mAh label. Dont fall for this scam!
What i did in the end is i bought 2 external Sony batteries (2000 mAh each) for when im traveling. I also always carry a chárter or at least a short usb cable. Ohh i also did the mod and use my fake "high capacity battery" with it.
As you can see (read), i hate running short on battery

hi guys, i have a suggestion.
My mate at the workshop modifies batteries which we cant find on the local market when a client needs a new battery.
So what he does is this, he gets the clients old/dead battery, opens it up and removes the cell from inside (keeping the frame and circuit board, then he buys a new battery which has a similar physical size and shape as the client's battery. He opens disassembles the new battery and then puts in the client's battery frame and uses the old circuit board (be careful of polarity).
voila, the client has a working "new" battery.
If anyone can suggest an Original Model battery that has a higher capacity than that of xperia ion from at&t, i will buy such a battery and test on my xperia ion. Coz the battery i have in it sucks. It drains to empty (same day) while the phone is on complete standby without even a sim inside!!

Hello,
I am thinking of buying one a high capacity battery, item number 251122991520 on a well known auction site
Question is about NFC. The factory provided battery has Near Field Communication written actually on the battery, is it the battery pack that houses the NFC hardware? I have absolutely no use or interest in NFC, I don't think I will ever use it, so the question is "for information only". If the battery pack is providing the NFC hardware, will I do any damage by running a 3rd party higher capacity battery without NFC?
Thanks

Yes, it is the stock/extended Samsung battery that provides you with NFC.
Feel free to use third party battery without NFC. It won't cause any harm.
You just won't be able to use NFC features.

The nfc hardware itself is on the phone. The battery, if so equipped, is only home to the antenna.
One caveat for the OP- there's more often than not a reason why eBay batteries are inexpensive. That reason is related to quality and subpar performance.

Which version of teh Gnex do you have? Sprint is still offering the stock extended 2100mAh battery and cover for free. I got my Gnex free over Black Friday from Best Buy...(did not know about the promotion). I simply called and said that I was getting poor battery life, and quite honestly the battery promo was due to this well known issue. I didn't complain, just said I was satisfied with the phone except for that. The rep put me on hold, came back and said that they wanted to make their customers happy and that I could have one free and just pay $13.00 shipping. So...if you are with sprint..give that a go. I had mine in 2 days.
