Has anyone tried this battery yet?
2300mah battery from Ebay
Do the GSM and CDMA version both use the same size battery? Would this one be a universal replacement?
Its 2350, and doesn't say anything about NFC.
Also wouldn't it need a new back plate?
And no the LTE and GSM versions use a different battery shape completely. Not interchangable =/
don't trust no-name battery capacity claims.
with the same battery tech, capacity will be basically a function of volume... so if it fits in the galaxy nexus, with the current cover... it's the same volume... so my guess is this is the same or less capacity in reality.
its possible its a more advanced battery technology, but for $6 on ebay , doubt it.
Do the GN batteries need to have an antenna for the NFC or is that integrated into the cover?
I don't have my GN yet, ordered from Amazon. Can't wait to get it!

The NFC is integrated in the battery, not the cover
And you don't need to buy a battery with NFC capability, it's not required

This. Some people here act like NFC is required for the phone to function..
Correct me if I am wrong.
The antenna for the NFC is located in the Samsung battery that came with our phone. If we want NFC, we should get a battery that has built-in antenna too.
So, if we get a generic battery off Ebay, we'll lose the NFC function?
I agree, it's not a deal killer, not much you can do with NFC right now.

There is a company called Anker that makes high quality - high capacity aftermarket batteries for phones, however, I don't think they have one for ours yet.
I'm a little gun shy to buy aftermarket batteries again...
My experience with Anker Batteries:
I had one for my MT4GS and although it did last much longer, I kid you not it does something really weird to the phone. Call me crazy, but I had random people confirm this with their very own eyes. If you've experienced this too, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
1. Like I said, I kid you not, when I put in the higher capacity battery, it made the screens color look more washed out and blurry. Crazy, crazy I know, but it's darn true. Has anyone else experienced this?
2. For whatever reason, the phone would freeze often as well, whereas before with the OEM battery, everything was fine. I had to pull the battery almost 2 times a day to restart it from a freeze.
Interesting....
I was looking for an extended battery for this phone as well but when I searched for the Anker brand as I have it for another device, they all said not compatible with the AT&T or T-Mobile version.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...msung+galaxy+s2&x=0&y=0&sprefix=anker+samsung
The batteries for the international version are a different size than ours so no, they won't work.
also the other batteries might not come with the NFC
if you don't mind losing the NFC feature on the phone, then you can use the 2000 mAh original batteries from samsung

personally i prefer this over having it at the back cover like on the Nexus S
this means i can chance the phone skin any time i want without worrying about losing NFC
i saw many nice back covers for the Nexus S but couldn't change it as they do not include the NFC antennae on the aftermarket back covers for the Nexus S

No way! you 100% sure about this? I was planning to buy an extra battery but now I'm hesitate to buy. How do I know which battery has NFC and which battery don't? I thought on the galaxy S2 they integrated onto the phone.
just wait for a new version of the 2000 mAh with NFC
the last one i saw on the samsung website did not have NFC build in

Would the 150 mAH additional warrant the large price? (probably $50+)
Tmobile Galaxy S2 has the same battery as what...?
I'm looking to get a spare battery and external charger for my S2. Looking for anker or chichitec, what other device has the same compatibility as ours. Which ones will fit?
You may have a hard time finding cheap batteries for this phone because the NFC antenna is built into the battery. If you do find one, there's a chance your NFC will suffer because of it. If you don't use NFC, that may not be a problem. I on the other hand, use it daily.
The Samsung Infuse has the same battery.

There are some cheap ones over at thE BAY around $10 for 2 battery plus wall charger OEM are around $30.
does the cheap one from ebay include NFC ?
Extra set of quality batteries?
Has anybody here bought a quality battery from ebay? there are batteries ranging from 10 dollars to 40 dollars and I'm just wondering if any of them are good? i don't want such an expensive extra battery but i also don't want a cheap battery that will mess up my phone.. speaking of which, can a bad battery mess up a phone's internal system? Thanks for the responses.
if possible, provide a link to the ebay listing or just tell me what i should specifically search for.
i'll suggest buying the real Samsung batteries if you can afford $40

thanks allgamer for the response. the thing is i can't afford the $40. should i just wait till a quality replacement battery comes to market? i used to have an htc pro and i bought cheap batteries on ebay for it that came in handy and worked well but my phone eventually died out (screen does not turn on all the time but it might be a wiring problem and not a battery problem). i was hoping there was a similar economically viable option for the galaxy s 2.
it might take a bit
because these news batteries comes with the NFC
so the cheap ones in ebay or where ever they don't usually include the NFC
I doubt it. And the Infuse has a lower mAh

i don't really need NFC with the extra set of batteries. NFC's potential hasn't been fully realized yet and i don't have much use of it as of now.
one question though.. if i buy those cheap batteries on ebay, will it destroy my phone because of incompatibility issues?
Anyone aware of any place to buy a cheap spare battery for the Galaxy Nexus? I've been having trouble finding anywhere to buy one online. I'm guessing it's maybe too early?
NFC is in the battery, so I don't think cheap is gonna happen.

Is it really? Dammit. That sucks. I've been able to snag spare batteries for my previous phones, including my Galaxy S, for $10-$15.
There is no proof that NFC is "in the battery." There is merely speculation since NFC verbiage is included on the stock battery.
Some say the battery just acts as an antenna for NFC and the actual chip is in the phone (likely).
Some say the battery contains every necessary NFC component (unlikely).
Whatever the case, cheap knockoff batteries will most certainly be available soon. I had three ($15 shipped) Anker brand batteries for my SGSII. Didn't care about NFC since it's currently such a limited feature I never got a chance to even try it (nor did I on my I9020A).
So, we will have a plethora of cheap replacements soon. Anyone who thinks the only available replacement will be a genuine Samsung battery is dead wrong.
hey guys,
I just read an article about the Verizon extended battery + cover for the Nexus (it's OEM - i dont think i'd ever buy a 3rd party battery)
http://www.androidcentral.com/close-look-verizon-galaxy-nexus-extended-battery
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...s-extended-battery-2100mah-battery-cover.html
The 2100mAH seems like a good upgrade from our 1750mAH battery, but im more curious if this would fit in the GSM version? But then again, we would also need a cover as well, because i know the LTE dimensions are slightly different...
or has anyone heard of OEM extended battery coming to the GSM version?
If its a small sacrifice in thickness i'd probably jump on it
as long as it isn't a hunchback cover i will most likely get it. i'm all about extending battery life but those covers make the device very uncomfortable.
if its anything like the OEM extended battery for the Galaxy S2 , it should be very minimal difference in the back cover
You know the tiny "hump' at the bottom of your phone on the back?
I think the extended battery basically makes that uniform with the cover+battery, so there's no longer a hump but just a straight back
it might even feel better to grip
I will definitely be buying this. I was interested in the 2000mah one from Korea but this is even better. Hurry up and get announced for UK/EU!
Be aware that the i515 battery (VZW) is _wider_ than the i9250 (GSM) battery. In other words, you cannot interchange batteries between the Verizon LTE phone and GSM phones. It will not fit.
So that Verizon extended battery is only for the i515.

I stopped by the Verizon corporate store and was going to buy another battery, but it doesn't fit (not even close) I can confirm that it's a good bit shorter and wider than the gsm battery.
Posted images for you in a separate thread:

Now we need the Korean version, 2000 mAH Galaxy Nexus battery.
I hope that would be compatible with gsm version and available to purchase.
Keep in mind that the NFC is built into the battery. So if the extended batteries don't have NFC then your GN won't either while the extended battery is in it.

Most are, yes. But extended batteries tend to be third party and not something Samsung and other manufacturers tend to release. Just something extra to check before buying a new battery.

If it's an official extended battery from Samsung (like the 2000mAh for Galaxy SII), then it'll have NFC as the Galaxy Nexus has the NFC in the battery. Extended batteries from MUGEN is another thing but the announced 2000mAh (Korea) and the 2100 (Verizon) will be official Samsung stuff.

where can i get this from? couldnt find it on ebay
Hey Folks,
I just wanted to pass on the deal I just found...You can get what looks to be an OEM 1850mAh battery with an external battery charger and an extra wall charger for $28.80 from the link below:
http://shop.htcpedia.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-battery-charger.html
I know there are cheaper 3rd party batteries out there but they tend to under-deliver when it comes to meeting its rated battery capacity. I also wonder the effects of having a battery rotation of batteries with different capacities (from different manufacturers) on the battery stats within the software.
EDIT - THIS IS FOR THE VERIZON VERSION ONLY. Sorry to get your hopes up GSMer's.

More than one battery with the Galaxy Nexus
Just ordered one of these, but then found this info coming from Verizon:
"Customers attempting to use more than one battery with the Galaxy Nexus may have less than an optimal experience since the NFC chip within the battery must register a token between the device and the battery each time the battery is swapped."
I guess it is better just to use one of these 2100mAh extended batteries Verizon is selling along with cover.

Interesting...I'm not using NFC for anything so I'm not sure I care but I wonder if the consequences are limited to a slightly longer boot process after a battery swap.

I vote CRAP, the battery has the NFC antenna in it. The NFC chip is in the phone.
Verizon has a sale on spare 1850 batteries for $19.99 right now. Plus they are selling the item in the OP for $39.99. If I am wrong please correct me.
Well, let's have this thread to keep the info about 3rd party SGS3 batteries that will start coming from different sellers around the world.
As soon as you find some new battery with bigger than standard capacity - post the link here.

Yeah, that thread is about one battery link, and this thread will have all of batteries in one place.
By the way, there are some questionable "no name" batteries on ebay, like these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-2X-2500...084182?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a1e20ac56

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-Gold-285...182973?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f18460a3d
But I do not add them to the 1st post since there is no info that we can trust them

Thank you for contacting us.
Please be advised that we will forward your concern to our product team to see if we will develop this battery. To be honest, it is hard to find a factory who makes batteries with NFC built in. If we find one, we will consider developping NFC batteries. Hope this helps!
If there is anything else we may help, please feel free to contact us. We are always here.

According to this article, the battery of the s3 has a build in inductive charging loop. I presume this is the nfc coil.
I'm not sure whether the one in the battery is only for wireless charging or whether the phone depends on it for all it's nfc connectivity.
It's a bit off topic, but I presumed that the wireless charging would be a coil in a new back case that connected to the two exposed pins underneath the back panel until I read this article. Those pins might mean a pin based charging dock.

agreed. i purchased them for my S2 and they drained twice as fast as the OEM battery. the only reason i continued to use them was for emergencies. id keep them charged and ready to go whenever i knew id be away from a charger for a long period of time. they only have enough life for about 2 hours of ACTUAL use. standby lasted probably 8 hours
