[Q] I did something wrong?. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

my gnex started to get slow after my first flash, before that my phone was pretty fast, now i get back to stock but the phone it' a lot slower than before.
i flashed with the gnex tool kit, installed a lot of roms and kernels, after my last flash, i wiped dalvik cache, factory reset, and get back to 4.0.2(because stock was superior for me, speed, battery life, stability etc), then i notice the lag. after that when 4.0.4 was released i installed but the lag continue, so what i did bad?.
sorry for my english.

I don't know that you did something wrong.
But stock should NOT be slower.
Try some custom kernels.

its just ur sensation

its weird, maybe was something related to the old toolkit, i just installed the 5.6 ver, put the mod fix, flash and put trinity kernel, the phone is really smooth right now, thx for the replay.

phone is suddenly painfully unresponsive

I've been rooted for about a month now, playing with various roms and loving it.
However, today, I decided to try FrEak's newest rom using netarchy/toasts latest kernel. Things were going pretty well for a while, then all of a sudden, everything either quit responding or is taking at least a minute to respond, i.e. notification bar, menus opening/closing, touchscreen, etc.
So I did a complete wipe, cache, etc. and flashed the latest BakedSnack rom, again, with netarchy kernel, and same issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm wondering if going back and re-rooting would help....but if I do, should I use SimpleRoot or the newest unrevoked?
This is killing me!!!!
Last good responding rom I had was Fresh 3.1.0.1, but haven't tried reflashing that to see if it's the roms I'm using or something wrong with my phone.
Thanks in advance.
try a different kernel.

[Q] G2 Stuck on CM Splashscreen on Reboot(CM7 Stable)

Hey all, I have only been flashing custom ROMs onto my G2 for about a month now, so this might be a dumb oversight. Ever since RC4, I have had an issue where every single time I reboot or power off the phone and power it back on, I get the HTC screen for a few seconds and then the CyanogenMod 7 splash screen with the arrow going round and round. And that's it. Even overnight. Now the ROM runs BEAUTIFULLY all the time. No GPS, Google Sych, or Battery Life Issues. Love it, so any help that would allow me to stick with this ROM would be great.
I am running CM 7.0.0
.26 Radio
the base CM7 kernel (2.6.32.28)
Overclocked to 1017Mhz
What should I do to get this issue to stop?

Have you tried a full wipe and then reflash? What rom did you come from? A few details about those things might make it easier for people to help u
dont send me pm's crying about how i hurt your feelings in a thread
I came from the stock post-ota ROM. I did a full wipe when I installed RC4, but I haven't since, just wipe data then re-flash. Should I wipe everything - data, cache, dalvik, etc and then re-flash? Of course Nandroid before...
just cache and dalvik was enough... no data wipe needed (at least.. I haven't needed that before)
But I still need to re-flash the ROM after I clear cache and Dalvik though, right?
Well, apparently, that worked out. Everything is humming along just fine. Thanks a lot for the help everyone.

[Q] Random freezes and lag

I have some issues with my Defy, it worked great for about 5 weeks with Quarx's CM7 the i started to get random lags, all apps crashing and freezes. I wiped the cache and dalvik cache, still not working.
After that i installed MIUI, worked pretty good for 2 days then got the same problem. Wiping the cache didn't worked here either so i decided to re-install CM7 (7.1.0-jordan) but still got the same problem.
I tried lowering the CPU settings to the default but it had no effect.
What else can i do?
I'm kinda new to this so please, have mercy.
Thanks in advance!
Could it be the RAM (not enough available)? Use an app like this or similar and see if there's any difference.
Also, if you like CM7, go for CM7.2 - it already has a RC version, and it's stable and fast (bug fixes included, tweaks, interface optimizations, etc). Regarding the CPU: it's not necessary to underclock to the stock 800mhz value, just be careful about the voltages (don't go too low suddenly, or you'll get freezes or random soft restarts - try to undervolt progressively).
Plus, it's a good habit to wipe Cache and Dalvik cache before and after flashing a ROM/nightly.
it's not the ram, i used netqin from the beginning which has a widget that shows available memory and a task manager and the lowest memory i ever had was 100MB. currently on cm7.1 i have 213mb available.
is there a way to completely revert all changes, like a factory reset?
Actually, task managers on Android don't fix any problems, they even cause problems - I would get rid of that if I were you.
Like a factory reset? Wiping data from custom recovery (but you'll lose all data, settings, apps, etc on the phone), but you keep your current ROM.
Give CM7.2 a shot, it might be better.
Edit: Did you have these problems before installing that task manager?
i really don't care about the current ROM, i would go for the stock android just to have a working defy. do i need to flash a sbf before installing 7.2?
could it be a hardware problem?
Don't flash a SBF!
If you are already on CM7 just flash a CM7.2 version like a nightly (wipe Cache and Dalvik cache, before and after flashing). When I used CM7.2, I was happy with a version by maniac103, from 27 February. Stable, fast, good battery life.
If you really don't care about all of your settings and apps and data and so on, you could try to wipe Data in custom recovery before installing CM7.2, it might solve that issue (but I'm not sure, and it's not really worth it to try it now, only as a last solution). But if you do that, remember to flash gapps too, after the ROM.
But first try CM7.2 and use your phone for a while without that task manager.
No, I don't think that it's a hardware problem, especially if it worked fine after you flashed MIUI.
just installed cm7.2, will update if problem still occurs.
Thanks!
You're welcome.
Great, I hope you'll get rid of those issues. Did you also remove that task manager?
Yes, kept just the basic stuff for now. i have a problem with the proximity sensor, after a call the screen stays off and i have to remove the battery. I tried loosing the back screw and several ways of disabling the sensor but none worked.
Any ideas?

[Q] Constant password prompt despite flashing/resetting

Hi Guys!
Well, basically..
the problem I have is just like in the title.
My SGW I8150 keeps constantly prompting "Enter password to unlock" (phone is on, at lock screen) despite numerous hard resets,(got CWM 6 recovery) formatting, clearing cache, dalvik etc.
it all started when i set up a short password for the lock screen.. (rom was stock, rooted and cwm 6, if not 2.3.5 then 2.3.6)
googled a lot, read a lot, no avail.
later flashed ics and had a week of struggle. mainly because of battery draining fast.
AND now, since I wanted to return to stock, because I do, the reason is the same. battery lasts the longest on that stock rom. I do a lot of texting calling music, pics and occasionally internet. 2 days battery lasted.
So i downloaded bagux-project-v1.4, rom had mostly everything i needed and installed it and still the same problem. Of course the initial setup settings always were present but after i completed them and the second the phone locks, the problem still persists..
rebelrom 3.0 as well shows the same..
only cyanogenmod rom's like "ancora beta3" or ics or any other rom which doesn't have the baseband / kernel (correct me) something in common shows this problem.
Also, no "forgot password" (e-mail help) does not pop up at all. only "emergency call".
I flashed other roms; Cm7 & arco68 CM9 and some other ics roms. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN ON EITHER ICS version..
I have no idea why is this happening only on the roms generally similar to stock. 2.3.5 , 2.3.6 , 2.3.7
Please try to help if You can

Try formatting the system cia CWM before flashing. See if that fixes your problem.

a lot..
I said that before.. i did factory wipe/reset ,2nd option cache as well from cwm6 as well formatted the system, cache, dalvik, sdcard, onboard storage. one by one. did factory reset by using code *2767*3855#, still password prompt. downloaded a stock rom from sammy, flashed it via odin, still password prompt exists.
In my opinion, some data (specifically that unlock thing, password prompt) is left over on some piece of memory in the phone even though wiping, flashing and clearing has happened..
Hello... Please..Could anyone help me? Show me a way to do a FULL, but I mean seriously a COMPLETE WIPE of Data from each memory part on the motherboard.. Or at least something like that ?
Like I said, this happens only When the base of the rom is gingerbread..
Custom rom's/stock based on gingerbread when installed and the lock/power button is pressed and then again to turn the screen on, right away shows the password prompt...and that's where it all ends..
I had to install ICS, which is buggy and drains battery fast and since t's a whole new base to start from, the problem with password prompt disappears..
I don't know what to do anymore.. I'm not a noob at this because I have rooted MYSELF and flashed roms and other stuff to Samsung Gio Samsung Galaxy S II and Htc Desire-Z (a7272) and now I have my wonder I8150 and this weird thing just happened..

[Q] AOSP keyboard failed to launch?

So I've decided to start playing around with custom ROMs. I'm still pretty new to Android so maybe this is going to be stupidly simple.
Earlier today I flashed PACman Rom. Downloaded directly from the thread. I wasn't super happy with how slow it ran and a friend suggested it might be a nightly. I noticed in settings it said the release was from 09/09 so I thought he might be right. I decided to wipe it and install the most recent stable version of PAC man.
Seemed to flash just fine, but the startup was a bit odd. It didn't go through the standard stuff like syncing your google account, setting up wifi, etc. Jumped right to the home screen. At first that didn't seem like an issue. I can do that all manually. But then it flashed on screen saying AOSP keyboard couldn't launch. Obviously without being able to type at all or even open the keyboard, I can't do a whole lot to get it set up.
Tried a couple times to flash that ROM and same thing every time. Restored from my nandroid and everything worked perfectly. Decided to try CyanogenMod and got 10.2 stable release with gapps. Wiped and flashed. Same thing. Straight to the home screen, no keyboard. Every other gapp is there.
Any ideas on what I can do differently? Or what I might be doing wrong, or some way I can get this to work?
Did you flash gapps with pacman ROM?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Yes I did. And I actually just figured out what it was. I was using 4.3 gapps with 4.2.2 ROMS
