Possible explanation for the yellowish bottom of the display - HTC One X

Hi there,
i read a lot of the yellowish bottom (not the glue spots) on the One X, and i saw i'm affected, too.
When i take a look of the bottom i saw the led lights of the sensor bar shining on the screen. I think thats the reason why the colors at the bottom look more "warm" than on the rest of the screen, look at the attached picture an see if it also is on yours. If yes i think thats the reason for that (i can live with that cause you only see that sometimes on very white screens.

Yellowish bottom is not from the 3 buttons that light up. Because when they don't light up the screen is still yelowish at the bottom.

Backlight bleed / uniformity issues

I have noticed some slight flaws with my HTC One X
Firstly, when the backlight is on maximum (which happens when you first boot-up the phone) and shows a black screen, I can see some backlight bleeding at the bottom. It looks a bit greenish in one corner and also a bit further along the bottom.
Also, on a full white screen, the bottom is a bit more yellow than the rest of the image. This can be seen on the mail application (or gmail) for example.
I noticed that my applying slight pressure to the casing, that I can reduce the backlight bleed a bit. It also seems to reducing after a few heat-up / cool-down cycles. However the slight uniformity issue from top to bottom doesn't seem to be changing.
Has anyone else noticed this? I must emphasise it is slight, and that the backlight bleed is near invisible if the display is on auto-brightness and you are in a normally lit room.

Dude the below backlight bleeding is from the LEDs of the buttons
Same thing with DHD and O2X...

Yeah I have seen what you mean in previous handsets. But in this case it really is the screen. When you boot the phone up, it goes black on full brightness for a few seconds without the LEDs for the buttons

I checked it with a pure black background, same I used for my Galaxy S2.
I had 3 spots below, and when the leds went out I had no spots at all.
I have now checked 3 other HTC One X handsets, and they are all practically identical in terms of uniformity on an all white screen. They are all more yellow towards the bottom of the screen. That doesn't mean every One X handset is like that, but clearly there isn't much point in me swapping it out.
Funnily enough I also had that with the Evo 3D handset as well although it was even more obvious on that one.
These kinds of imperfections seems a price of having a laminated screen ie: glue, iPhone4/4s and iPad3 have similar habbits
Mine has about 6 tiny little lights on the bottom of the display...this is not normal. At least I hope not. They are always on so they can't be related to he touch button?

Do you have a carrier phone? When mine boots up it's 10K lumens of white to the point it'll clearly light up a dark room. That and the HTC strum at max volume drive me crazy. Never reboot your phone in a crowd unless you want to be stared at.

Same here...walked out of the store and right back in...second phone has same problem but screen is better overall...really annoying seeing those lights at the bottom of the screen though...it is only noticeable on lighter color screens...
Anyone else got this??

I also have this issue. Is this normal, or do most One X's not have this problem/issue/feature?

Tab S 10.5 purple and green fringing

I just bought one of these as a birthday gift for my, once I opened and tested tablet, I immediately noticed purple fringing everywhere specially on white letters. Actually it is weird because:
1. On normal view, that is the Hardware button on the bottom, the purple fringe is noticable at the top of every letter, and "GREEN" fringing at the bottom of every letter.
2. When i rotate the tablet 180 degrees, (screen autorotation is on) that is the Home button now is at the top, I nptice the purple fringing is at the bottom, and the green fringing is at the top.
Anyone also noticed this on their Tab S 10.5? I am now regretting buying this.
===========
Edit:
I forgot to mention, with normal web browsing, there is no problem. The problem can only be seen when looking at the icons and their description, and also when you go to settings, it can be seen on the letters there.
I have just been to my local walmart and tested their machines there. Their unit has the same purple fringe on top of icons, and green fringe at the bottom of icons. My guess is my eyes are faulty, or my eyes are well trained to look at Samsung screens and look for faults. Super Amoleds are really not yet perfect.

I have had nothing short of spectacular graphics/images on my 10.5" Tab S and can't see even a hint of fringing. I wonder if anybody else has had this problem. Would it be possible to exchange your tablet, because that doesn't sound normal to me? I've seen 3 or 4 10.5" Tab S' s and none of them displayed the fringing your experiencing. Good luck!

Your tablet is defective. Return it.
I have just been to my local walmart and tried their machines there, they have the same fault (or should I say "characteristic) as my Tab S...
I have updated the op...
I am still waiting for other people for their feedback before I return mine to amazon. Problem is, this is a birthday gift, and it wouldn't came on time if I return it and have it replaced. My walmart only has the black one.
No need to regret a purchase just because you happen to aquire a defective unit. If the store units are exhibiting the same characteristics then they have a bad batch. My screens good apart from a very slight yellow cast when viewed head on, but it doesn't really bother me, besides all stock is sold out where I live and I couldn't get a quick replacement anyway (I'm off on holiday next week and need a tab!)

The black one? Tab S does not come in black.
Colors on a properly functioning Tab S should be perfect. Whites white (with no yellow tinge) and blacks black (with no mura effect). It has been well documented that Samsung let some mad cows out of the barn on this one. If your screen is demonstrating any of these defects return it (the same store likely has more defective units from same run).

I guess you already know what i mean when i said black... I meant titanium bronze.
Anyway i have already packed the tablet and will be returning it.
I don't know the extent of the fringing problem on your tablet but I can add this to the conversation. There is a slight tint to the screen depending on which way you tilt your device. Its an AMOLED display so its inherent.

You seem to be extremely sensitive. Do you even notice it from a distance, or do you have to get really close to the screen to notice it ?
It could be related to the screen's subpixels layout, here it what it looks like when zoomed it: http://cdn.gsmarena.com/vv/reviewsimg/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-105/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-105.jpg
You may want to have a look at it with a magnifiying glass, I wouldn't be surprise that this layout is causing your issue.

I'm not sure about tab S 10.5, but 8.4 is affected by Mura effect. Not on black though, but only on extremely dark colors.
"It should be white viewed directly and slightly pink at am angle."
Amusing, on 8.4 the tint is green when viewed at an angle, not pink. Same goes for my Galaxy S2. It looks like some greenish transparent liquid was painted on the pannel. I always wondered what it could be, as it seems to be specific to Amoled.
Bump: Just purchased a Samsung Tab S2 and have a similar purple fringing issue and slight text aliasing. Mostly occurs with black text on white background.
I took a few macro photos that display the issue. As I just registered to discuss this issue I am not allowed to embed photos from imgur, to view remove the space between imgur and .com.

A very bad display

Ever since I got my Xperia M the display has had blueish tint and bad color reproduction but I acknowledged that is a problem with every Xperia M. But beside that, when I look at the display from an angle, on a white background, I can see a gray line appearing from top of the screen and a gray circle in the middle. Again, it is visible as an effect when looking at an angle, cannot see it when looking directly at it. I also have a bright pixel on a black background. Are these also negligible, common issues or along already bad screen I've got a defected screen? I am very disappointed in Sony anyhow.

I'm pretty sure I saw this post somewhere b4... anyway for bluish tint - get the white balance app from @xperiaz2 (Yes, you need root and the bluish tint is due to the colour temperature, its at around 10k+, the norm. being around 6500k) Gray line appearing... pretty sure you're having a defected display and about the bright pixel, display is defected. Yes you got a defected screen (The bluish tint is not a defect though) so just bring it back to where you bought it and they'll replace it for you! (If the warranty is still live)
Well I posted on Xperia support forum trying to get help there, too. Or just an insight of what could that be and what could cause the problem. Anyway, here are a couple of pictures taken with a phone. The camera couldn't get that grey line properly but it appeared as a shadow from the top of the screen probably because as I said it's like an effect when tilting the phone, not a still colour. http://imgur.com/3Ae2rdr http://imgur.com/Nyv2maS
I suggest you to bring it back to the shop, that problem isn't present on mine.

With Extra Dark Screen, Light Coming From Right Side and Bottom Right Side?

So, when my tablet is on, but the screen is super dark (basically black) there is some faint light coming from the right side and toward the bottom right side).
Is this normal? What is this?
That is called light-bleed. Many LCD devices suffer from it. It's usually only apparent when the screen is black. I noticed mine when I first got my tablet(s) but you get used to it... and not many situations arise when your screen is full black, except for some extra dark video scenes (for me anyway)
Is it a defect? Is it normal? Do they all have it?

Yellow glow from screen with black

When displaying a pure black image on the p2 the bottom left 1/3 of screen has a slight yellow glow to it when you look at it in a dark room. The same area looks more warmer than the rest when displaying grey. Anyone else noticed this? From searching around I've seen complaints about similar issues on some other amoled screens on nokia, oneplus, lg etc. So much for amoled showing pure black, if you want that it looks like you have to get a samsung phone. It's still better when compared to IPS but the uneven tone can be annoying.

I noticed this in dark environment, this is mostly visible when you pull down notification bar, I don't know the reason but noticed this - not a major issue.
