Switch on and off automatically - HTC One X

Is there a way I can set the HTC One X to switch off at a certain time ie. 11pm and switch back on automatically at 7am?

Hello, you can't find any way to switch of and on. But you can use ring schedular appliation to on and off for airplane mode.

What's the benefit? I charge overnight, but battery consumption is so low when it sits idle anyway.

Have you tried Tasker? Not sure if it has a power option though.

cant see an option in Tasker and it would be very useful it auto turn on/off was available.

Green Power and Juice Defender can both be set up to disable all radio/connections and stuff for pre-defined timeframes.
I set it up so it goes to airplane mode at 23.00 till 06.00, switching of wifi, 2G/3G, BT, sync, etc...

Using Tasker to save that battery

Just thought I would post some of my tasker setup to make my battery last a very long time!
First you need Tasker
You also need Secure Settings
And lastly you need Synker
if you want to make my settings super easy to install just download the two attached files and place them on the Sdcard in the Tasker folder.
userbackup.xml
userbackup.xml.txt
then start Tasker, click on the menu button and select Data then restore. This will place all my prebuilt settings in for you.
The first profile I have is Mobile. I have this profile made for when I am in my car but its settings are for anytime power is plugged in.
The things it does is: Turn on GPS, Turn off auto brightness, turn display brightness to max, turn auto sync on, turn media volume to full, turn display time out to one hour.
When unplugged from power it does the following: Turn off GPS, display turns off after 30 seconds, Auto brightness on, Auto sync off, wifi off.
The next setting turns on GPS automatically once maps or navigation is started then turns it off once you exit those apps.
The next one is the big battery saver! When the display is off it Turns off mobile data and wifi.
When the display turns on it will wait five seconds and then turn on mobile data.
lastly I have it setup to turn on mobile data every 2 hours and sync gmail then turn mobile data back off.
I have had tasker for a long time but never really dug into it until I got the SG2. I think this will make your battery last much much longer.
If anyone has better suggestions please add your input.

i have the same setup but use juice defender to do the same thing as tasker and synker. it can actually more, like sync more or less at certain times of the day. but i've been thinking about switching to tasker, might be more battery efficient.
i'm using secure settings to turn gps on\off too, based on what applications get run. i noticed the little tray icon only turns on when an app is actively using the gps tho. does that mean gps only uses battery when actually in use? but it seems like i get more battery with it turned off completely.
for mobile, i'm going to attach gps to my car's nfc sticker instead of when plugged in. might be a little faster for charging at home.
i guess you could use secure settings and tasker to only turn nfc on at the lockscreen. although i'm not convinced nfc uses much battery.
lets see... i'm also using tasker to immediately turn off the display if upside down (in my pocket).
it turns data off if i'm reading an ebook or watching a video.
i use it for 1 click switching between 2g and 4g.
i use it to switch cpu max between 192000, 918000, and 1728000. you can get crazy battery life by running 192000 all day, but everything will run slow. usually i keep it at 918000 and play games at 172800.
there are lots of other things, but that's the battery stuff.

Hey ,I just wanna say thanks I was getting 8 hours on a Verizon extended battery but now using your settings and tasker plus extra apps I'm getting 14 to 15 ,I just wanted to add that it in order to use secure setting you have to root your phone but it worth it.

Do you still have these backup files? The links are dead when I try them. I would like to try out your settings.

First post and it's a necro asking for something. I swear I used to have an account here in high school.
Anyway, I think those files are gone. Every time I come back to Tasker I try to start from the group up and a day later I'm fiending for backup.xmls/txt just whatever you use for your battery, please, just a quick string of code.

Airplane mode off, wifi auto on problem

At first, that's not a very serious problem. I am just wondering the reason behind.
The situation is that I used to turn on airplane mode when sleeping. Turn it off when wake up. I found that everyday I repeat this action, the wifi auto turn it on! Is that normal?

[Q] Screen dims when using email app

The screen on my G Note 2 N7100 dims whenever I open the stock email app. Initially, when I set up the very first email account the brightness was normal but after it finishes and goes to Inbox it went darker. I've tried tweaking the display setting but have not been successful and it wouldn't be productive to manually toggle the brightness whenever I am using the email app. When I leave the email app on to home screen or any other app the display brightness returned to normal.
Is anyone experiencing similar issues? Any thoughts to fix this?
Is it the "auto adjust screen tone" setting?
i am facing the same issue. tried lot of things but no success....seems this is the way this app looks...disappointment

Hey @amf, you're right...sort of. It's the Power Saving mode that's messing with the screen dim but as I pointed out this issue only occur with the stock email app. Every other apps I tried were fine with Power Saving mode on. With that said, I found that you don't have to completely turn off Power Saving, just uncheck Background Color and leave the rest checked. This is strange because I thought that Background Color is supposed to dim for bright background to reduce power consumption but the email app's background is black.
Anyway, thanks everyone for replying! :good:
Hi,
The darker the background, the less battery it consumes. It seems to make sense when you turn on Power save mode.
Cheers!!

Screen dim and headphone settings

I've hunted all over and can't seem to find the answer to this one so can someone help please.
I want to set things so that the screen dims depending what app I'm using. For example I use my phone for music in the car with n7 player and Im trying to set it up so that when I plug it into the car ( charging and headphones connected) the screen doesn't dim, but it does when not on charge if that makes sense. Any ideas of an ap or solution to this please?
Thanks in advance
Dave

You could try an automation app like Tasker or Locale.
Both can do lots off things automatically based on various conditions like time, charging, sensors, etc.
Both are paid apps but there are also lots of freeware apps like this.
I use locale to automatically connect to wifi at certain locations, set ringer volume off at work, set screen brightness based on light sensor and battery level...

Thanks,
Will give tasker a try

How can I turn off ambient display at night

I like the ambient display feature even though it's not perfect. My question is, how can I turn it off at night?? I have do not disturb setup but it still flashes.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Well it only blinks when you get notifications, so possibly if the device was in airplane mode or had the internet connection disabled that wouldn't be a problem.
Tasker or another automation program such as Llama could be used to automate the task each night.
Google needs to tie ambient and LED to do not disturb mode. Only makes sense. Have you checked the roms out? I'd bet one would have this implemented
Yeah I tried a few and couldn't find anything.
