Any previous DHD users here? I just want to ask if my desktop charger and car holder/charger which are exactly the size of my DHD will fit the One X. Anyone tried it or are they different in size and shape?
in 2009 microusb was made the de-facto standard for mobile phones (excluding apple)
http://www.gizmag.com/standard-micro-usb-charger-europe/12108/
so, yes it will work, as the desire HD (if im not mistaken) is from 2010, and also follows the same standard as they all do.

In afraid you didn't understand my question. I'm asking about the phone sitting on the same cradle and same holder. Its about size and shape, not connector
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
I will say no as DHD have the microusb port at the bottom while one x have it on the side. However, it depends what you are currently holding. I noticed some aftermarket may allow different models to dock with their design. But if yours fits DHD perfectly now, chances are they won't sit the one x nicely.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
it will not work. as the desire hd has the charger on the bottom, where as one x is on the left side, also one x is slimmer and wider and taller
How about letting us know what holder / mount you have (make and model, even include a picture) then we may have a chance of answering your question!
I had a DHD before the One X and my old cheap universal car mount is fine with both phones.

No it won't work if the mini USB is on the side. It's not one of the cheap universal ones but as I already said it fits only that shape.

I have a Brodit Active Car Dock Charger for my old Desire HD and my One X is too wide to fit plus the Micro USB is in a totally different location. So the answer is an easy no. if the holder has an locked in position charger plug then no it wont fit.

I bought a HTC One X today and I both checked the HTC website aswell as the HTC One X manual but I couldn't figure out what those 5 little circles are on the back of the device.
I've added a picture to make it more clear what I mean.
Does anyone have an idea what those circles are?
Those are for connecting with the car dock.

You what?!
You mean you haven't been following this device since the day it was announced? You haven't watched the 100's of hands-on videos, reviews and pictures detailing every inch of the phone?
Jeez.

Thanks, I just heard it in his video.
That kinda sucks, because the salesman last week in the shop told me it was for wireless charging, too bad .

The energy lost with wireless charging makes it not worth it atm for me.
I also don't get the difficulty level some people have with plugging in a micro usb port

No it doesn't. The cardock is using micro-usb, as you can see here.
It's not difficult at all but how cool is it just to lay it down on a certain "board" and when you pick it up it's charged
It's also for speaker docks and alarm clock docks too, right?
I think you'll find that those circles will be used by the official charger dock. The photo on this thread would also indicate that it can be charged with a correctly designed case fitted too.
I haven't looked at the car cradle yet, but regarding the point of it coming with a USB cable - that will most likely connect to the base of the cradle, which in turn provides power to the device (probably via another micro usb connector from what I recall).
Bugsy

Yep. The official speaker dock uses pogo connectors to charge.
I just found this on the Brodit homepage:
NEW! Passive holder with tilt swivel
Item no 511377
EAN: 7320285113770
Item no 511377 fits:
HTC One X S720e (For all countries)
http://brodit.se/product.html?id=511377&pn=prod&brand=HTC&model=One X S720e
Will wait for the active one which I haven't seen out yet. They will hopefully do one with Molex connection too.
I've used this system on about my last 7 or 8 HTC phones and its simply the best.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Does it come in white?
I've previously bought 2 Brodit docks, one passive and one active. Thats about £55 so far. As nice sa they are, I'm not wasting any more money on expensive car docks.
I understand only passive holder is released so far. Brodit normally release active holders a week or so later.
I had the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and used the specific Brodit passive holder for that device. I tried my One X in it and hey presto - it fits that holder too !
Imho, passive portrait docks are no good for the ONE X, the usb charges is on the left and the stereo jack on top. Unless you have a BT car radio, this would look ridiculously stupid if all was plugged.
I have seen this one on ebay, but I am not sure if the quality will be good enough and how hard it will be to fit in the phone and take it out again:
http://www.ebay.ch/itm/Support-voiture-Rotatif-pour-HTC-One-X-small-/130675791379?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_23&hash=item1e6ce25613#ht_1750wt_1163
They send from HKG, so it might be worth waiting just a little longer until anybody else makes a decent unofficial car dock...
the active holder is up on that site now

Hoping it would have the molex connection being honest, looks a bit ****

In either case the image would be wrong. I do not see a micro usb connection where the port on the phone is. There is a sort of "block" near the place where the pin connectors are on the phone, but it does not look very well positioned either.
Besides, what do they mean with "active"? I thought that the car mode could be activated only with the pins, not with the usb cable, or am I missing something? I have had this phone for 3 or 4 days, so I might still be missing half of the options

No, you are right, it's as wrong as some of the cheap docking station pics I saw in a docking station thread. Looks really ugly too this mount.
And I think a mere USB plug wont activate the Car mode...

hi what model of nexsus fits? cheers
GSM matey, standard battery etc etc
Consider this: The official HTC car holder uses micro USB at the moment. Nothing uses the POGO pins as yet. If the HTC one doesnt even activate car mode then it's a bit of a swizz.
I doubt the brodit one would in any case, but I think they can be modified to do so.
EDIT : Also be aware that the picture of it is just a placeholder as the device in the holder blatantly isnt a HOX

That is interesting news. If there is no contact with the pins there must be something else that is switching the car-mode, or else it would activate even when charging from the wall, which is not the case.
It switches to car mode and also activates Bluetooth too which is convenient for me

Thats quite amazing! BTW what is the brand of your car kit? The original one??
Link to pics of my car dock:

HTC car docks have done this for years. They do something funny to the micro usb port to send an additional signal. It can be self modified I think. Good to know though

How do these compare to the HTC official speaker dock? As they can be had for around £41 if they are similar in terms of sound quality it might be better to get the official one for the pogo pin charging?

It's fine, just remember it's not a dock so it won't sync with anything. It plays music via Bluetooth, has a night light as well and charges phone when connected to dock.
As it's Bluetooth you can connect any Bluetooth device and stream your music, it's loud and sounds good for a mono speaker. Better than on board speaker. I do have a video but my upload speed is poor!
The Philips app is useless so I just connect straight via Bluetooth. I use it at night to charge my phone and as an alarm clock.
For the price it is really good, I was surprised by the sound it produces.

Ive done a little video for YouTube - please dont think i'm stealing any thunder here as thats the last thing on my mind.
However i do want to say a massive thankyou to mugglesquop for revealing this in the first place.
This has the benefit over the other Speaker Dock 'cr s650' in so far as the Philips can bu used with a multitude of phones now and in the future - as long as they have the mini usb ports on them.
Where as only the HTC one X will work with the 650 because of the pogo pins placement and if you upgrade your phone in the future unless its got the exact same layout as the HTC one X then the 650 will be redundant - the Philips though should be better value as even if you upgrade in the future the chances of your new device having a mini usb is high (higher than having the perfect placement of pogo pins i reckon).
EDIT - on a side note when i dock my HTC onto the Philips i have to remove my phone case as the charging port in the Philips wont quite fit snuggly enough to charge.
Soooooo anyone know of any decent gel, silicone, other HTC one X cases that are very thin (but offer protection) that would allow a fit that is more flush with mini usb chargers - thus charging my phone.
I have a MHL adaptor for my TV and on this too i have to remove my phone case otherwise the USB wont fit into my phone quite right - Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Thanks for any suggestions
Excellent video mate I was having troubles capturing the volume but it is loud.
As for case I use a Tourmate case from obostore and it fits with it on, it is similar to the Rock sand cases which are popular.
For the price it's a decent little driver.

Alright mate, quick question. Did you manage to get the dock extension (little plastic thing) to fit properly over the usb so it was flush? I just got mine today but for some reason the dock extension doesn't go down low enough so the phone won't plug in properly, seems to be getting stuck on the little cogs used to raise and lower the height adjusters, would you mine uploading a pic of it?
Cheers
Daven
@daven
The cogs have got to be wound all the way to the bottom - the little attachment will only fit on the usb section in one way i believe - it goes on about 3/4 of the way and the last bit needs to be pushed with a little force to snap it into place.
Ahh thanks, I got it after applying a bit of force. I was worried about breaking it. Nice youtube video, the dock is brilliant, I've found it to work really well with the sony smart connect app (which I also use for my nfc tags). I've set it up to automatically bluetooth connect to the dock and launch dock mode when the phone is docked, and then play music for an hour when I wake up in morning. Sound quality is surprisingly impressive for something so small.
How did you find the official app for it? I found it to be a bit too cumbersome, so just uninstalled it.
I've frozen songbird and Fidelio using titanium back up and i'm manually turning on bluetooth on the HTC one X and using Power AMP as my music player. :good:
I thought for the first day that i was tied to just using the Songbird/Fidelio combo so went with this. :silly:
Came home from work today and started up Power AMP instead and it works brilliantly, you can even change the graphic equaliser and the Philips Dock adjusts too - perhaps this is a feature of all docks,im not sure as this is my first
Im trying to set up something with 'Tasker' at the moment to get the most out of the Dock, though i have got NFC tags too so might have a play later and see what i can come up with
Just purchased one of the Rock Quicksand cases as its very thin but theres still no way it will dock properly to the speaker dock and charge, even after pushing fairly firmly it wont click in so instead ive removed the little plastic adapter that clicks on the USB and now my phone sits just nicely.
Incidentally i tried to sit the HTC One X onto the USB without its plastic adapter but leaving an ordinary gel case on the phone but that wouldnt work so my best bet is to use the Rock case and remove the plastic adapter off the speaker dock.

I successfully plugged a usb sound card into mine as a test (i was after the Mic in function for recording) however the line out also worked. I just used a cheap one on ebay but you can get better. You need a usb otg cable which will allow you to plug a usb dongle into it.
You can do this test for under 10 EUR then think about more expensive devices if its what you need.
Good luck

I dont think that it is possible to get line out from hox
Unless you are willing to do some serious modifications to your phone (eg soldering to the motherboard) your best bet is indeed using a usb sound card through usb-host. But like you said, this would still be double-amping. Depending on your budget you could find some pretty decent adapters on amazon or ebay. Top-of-the-line would be the Audioquest Dragonfly but It'd set you at around $250,- which for me personally is not worth the dollar.
An mhl adaptor will also get you audio out in hdmi format if that's any use.

Hey folks, I was wondering if there is a case for the One that's slim enough to use it with the original HTC One CarKit. I'm using one from yayago which is called slim... But unfortunately not slim enough :-/.
I hate to have to choose between the use of the CarKit and the protection of my phone.... And I really don't want to put this beautiful phone in a sort of sock!

I wanted the htc one car kit as well because I was spoiled by the pogo pin dock for my Galaxy Nexus. After several unfortunate accidents with my GNEX I have decided to keep my One in a thin silicone case (a blue one from Verizon store to match my Best Buy blue HTC One). I found a non-oem car cradle that will work with or without a case (no more than 1.6mm thick) and is easy to insert and remove phone. It is by encased. The car dock will put the phone into car mode when the charger is plugged in. The only disappointment was to discover that you had to plug a short "pigtail" micro-usb cable attached to the dock into the phone. You couldn't just slide the phone in and make the connection. I felt the product description was a little misleading. I bought in on Amazon for $25 which felt like a steal compared to most oem cradles. I cannot post links yet but it is called the HTC One M7 Car Mount Dock With Built In Car Charger - Windshield & Dashboard.
You guys should check out I-magnet. Ive used it w a phone as big as a note 2 and currently use it w my htc one. Works great w super easy on/off
