Im not a dev, I respect all the devs that contribute here. But I have to ask. Why is it that were not seeing ports from the gsm galaxy s 2 roms. I know the radios are different but most of the other hardware is the same. Seems like you could patch in the cdma radio and at least get some things to boot. I come from the OG evo scene and I guess I'm still spoiled. Ports from virtually any released phone showed up all the time. I guess I'm just so sick of touchwiz. Im craving some aosp action. Good luck guys I'm rooting (pun intended) for it.

The short answer is that if it were that easy it would've been done already.

Will there be a separate section for the sprint version of the GNEX which was released today? Or will roms and kernels work the same? I know sprint is CDMA as well but it just confuses me..

Been covered quite a bit. There's even a post in General from a Mod who is trying to add a Sprint dev section already, which I'm sure will happen.
Current Verizon ROMs will not work. Wait for Sprint ROMs to get going.
Are all the roms cross compatible as in some of the descriptions they don't mention either one only a small minority of the roms have either cdma or gsm in the title
Cdma and gsm roms are diffrent, if you flash a gsm Rom on cdma it might boot but data, mms and phone won't work, or it may not even boot at all. Most roms here are for gsm devices, I don't no a gsm Rom that works on the cdma and vice versa

Yes im aware that they are different its just most other models on here have separate development threads for cdma and gsm
Seems stupid not to do the same here
I only asked as i seen some roms were labelled cdma but others were not labelled at all so it was kinda guess work which was gsm
Thanks for reply
Yes they should of made seperate forums, but the wildfire s was suppose to be only gsm I read, then pre paid companys picked it up. Ya most is guess work, if the Rom dosent boot then we no its the wrong one

Why Sprint always gets way fewer roms than ATT and Tmobile?
I had original Epic and Epic Touch on Sprint and we always get fewer roms and last to get updates is there a reason for this?Seams like Tmobile has the most roms and Att is not too far behind it,is it because we are on cdma?If so do Verizon got slow development too,or is it just Sprint?
GSM is easier to develop with, open source. Rest of the world uses GSM. If international version gets development then generally it can be easily ported to a US GSM variant
Btw CDMA is closed source

Yeah i know that,i was asking if Verizon has better rom selection.I know they have great development for Droid phones and Sprint has great development for Evo phones, seems like GS series for Sprint suffers unlike Evo.

They are a bit worse off as they have a locked bootloader. They are the only ones without CM9 nightlies because of that fact.

OG epic is official cm9 supported, and E4GT has good ICS roms (better than evo 3d in the early stages). Just took so long to release kernel source for ICS.

I know i have both Epics, those CM8/9 are nowhere near daily driver and been in development forever,it will take at least another six months for them to be stable. And latest FF18 ota update that Sprint released today for Epic Touch is a joke and buggy, plus we already had buggy FF18 leak for months now,and that is what they call ota?At least they released ics source for EpicTouch-that is something other carriers did not get, probably did it to make up for such late ics ota.
Sometimes i visit Droid and Evo forums and they have so many unique and different roms and rom ports.Xperia ui,Sense,Acer Breeze ui ports-that's just to name a few.So it cant be because we are on cdma, because Droid's and Evo's are too.

Why don't you look in there dev forum and look for yourself? Not trying to be an asshole but seems like an easy solution. And development version or not it's still lacking official CM9 support at this time.
Also consider less people have sprint as there provider, att and Verizon have more customers.
Also the og Evo was given away ag Google io conference that year, so a bunch of people, many devs, got bit for free.

Don't make him switch to Verizon now.
(Though it already seems like he'll do it solely due to "better" development.)

From what I understand, the Evo 3D had horrible development. The OG Evo had amazing development mostly because it was the Google I/O phone, and it had so much new technology that devs really wanted a crack at developing new features.
The 3d had decent development until they started running off developers with childish antics. As mentioned GSM is worldwide and CDMA is not, Verizon is in limbo as far as I can tell with customers and developers with this locked boot loader crap and developer phone price tag.
From the thread made about Verizon and their locked phone, there are a lot of pissed off people who may jump ship or just send the phone back to Verizon. Most don't have an extra $600 + dollars laying around for a new phone and they won't get what they want for their already used s3. Sprint has some decent developers on board including Myn IMHO.
Maybe the lack of sufficient data speeds? :silly:
Sprint phones require special CDMA versions of winZip.
And there's a supply shortage, so we are all still waiting for our pre-orders to arrive.

This.I'd rather have a stellar ROM than lots of decent ROMs. Not that AT&T and T-Mo don't have stellar ROMs, but Phantom's Blazer is amazing.
Good day all!
I was recently rooting and modding my friends AT&T SGS3 for him and noticed on their forum that someone had written an automated script for porting any Rom from any other SGS3 variant to any other, ie Verizon SGS3 roms running (from what I've been reading) flawlessly on AT&T SGS3! So of course my wheels got to turning and wondered if that was at all possible for us. Wouldn't it be great if that could be done here? So many knew options would be available!
So my question is; can this be done for the E4GT?
Pretty sure you would have a hell of a time getting wimax working. Also the amount of different processors would be a pain. I will say no. Although others feel free to chime in.

You can port from the international S2 but some work needs to be done to get Wimax working.
