Hey Guys,
I just got the HTC ONE X today and I went to my local TMO store and got a new microsim and I put it in the phone and VOICE AND TEXTS work but then DATA DOES NOT!!!
I tried going into mobile networks>APN ... but when I go in it says NO SIM CARD FOUND... I tried so many times with data resets and everything and nothing happens, but if there is no sim card found why does my VOICE AND TEXT work still on the device?
I need some help ???

Hello all,
I am new here, My name is Lewis, and you all seem like a very clever bunch of people. So i was wondering if you could give me some help with my Defy.
So here we go:
I bought my Defy last week after my Nokia died, it is second hand, and was locked and branded to T-Mobile (UK). I got it unlocked a few days ago, and it unlocked straight the way with the 1st code. So i assumed all was well. After trying to send a message, i realized that it was stuck in 'Emergency Call Only'. After a bit of searching around the interweb, i found that i had to check my APN Settings. The sim card i have is with Tesco Mobile, so i found out the APN settings and all seemed fine. I have tried hard reseting the phone, but still no luck.
It is all standard, so do i have to do any flashing to get it to have signal? Thank you for your help in Advance.
Motorola Defy
Locked to T-mobile
Unlocked to work with Tesco Mobile sim (O2 masts)
4GB memory card
All default.
Edit: When I 1st put the Sim Card in, it has signal for a few seconds before reverting to emergency calls only.

The sim card that is required for our devices to be able to use wifi calling is labeled with a TM9177 (newer sim card) so if you have a TM9073 (older sim card) you need to update that at your local T-Mobile store. it didnt cost me anything. they replaced it with no problems at all.

I've been seeing a major bug lately with WiFi calling. Sometimes (seemingly at random, though always when I am trying to connect to a WiFi after being connected to cell network) the icon will turn RED and give me the dreaded SIM error. Generally this is fixable with a reboot. So if you have a TM9177 SIM and for some reason you are getting the SIM Error code then try a reboot first.
Of course if you have an older SIM then yes, you need to get a new SIM. Call TMO first and tell them to put a note on your account that you are able to receive a free SIM. Otherwise some of the more A-Holeish stores may try and charge you 20 dollars.
No problem so far with wifi calling on my phone.
just goto your local t-mobile store and tell them to change your old card for a new one. they know what to do. and it's free.

Curiosity....what ROM are you using? I wonder if the wifi calling bugs I'm seeing are a ROM issue...
Thank you guys, I will call them first in head of time and then go to the mall. Thank you all!

i think you accident a word but do you mean it worked on older phones?
things you can do:
1. The Amaze and SGS2 requires "new" sim cards for wifi calling (the sim that came with the phone) so use that sim instead
2. Go to a T-mobile store and ask for the new SIM. (free-$20 different stores different policies)
3. Call T-mobile to help you "activate and setup" your wifi calling in your ACCOUNT, not on the phone.
4. Call CS and ask them to issue you a new sim card (they either send you to a store or mail you one)
5. Use the search button because I remember reading about this a couple days ago.
If you go to an actual tmobile store and not a dealer and tell them that you called tmobile and you were told the sim would be FREE, they won't charge you for it. But make sure you test wifi calling at the store before leaving the store, so you don't have to drive back to the store like I had to.
Hi there,
I'm on vaca for one month in Africa and I am trying to use my sim card but I have this message :" Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network "
I tried two different sim cards but I still have the same issue.
Note that the phone was working perfectly yesterday with my Tmobile Sim Card.
It's an international One X so I don't think that I need to unlock it.
Do you guys have any solutions?
Thank you
it sounds like something tmobile end has changed on your account, if possible i'd call them to see if they can help get it working again
other thing to check is the roaming settings, check its enabled etc
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not using that Tmobile sim card anymore. But an Orange one.
Should I factory reset it and see if it'll work?
Thanks
i had this happen on mine, ive got tmobile sim, it went to tmobile orange signal, i tried to manually switch it back to tmobile (better signal coverage) and it said the same thing.
A reboot didnt fix it so i went into settings, storage, make more storage and then cleared all temporary data for all apps.
this seems to temp fix the issue and allows me to reconnect to my peferred network it still happens every now and then so it could be a software gitch with the hox
Just tried it. Didn't work
I will restore it and see how it goes
Even with the New Rom, Superwipe I still have the same issue ?
Hi there,
I recently sent my phone back to HTC because my volume button was stuck, which resulted in it not being able to boot (as it always went straight to recovery). They repaired it, and after three weeks without my phone I know received it back. They 'replaced parts and did a software update.'
Problem is, now I have no mobile network connection. The phone recognises the SIM fine, but no signal and search networks results in "Error while searching for networks."
I'm blaming the software update HTC did, so I send them another email. The thing is, I don't want to send it back AGAIN, I had the phone a full 2 weeks before it broke and haven't been able to use it since. Is there anything you guys can think of that doesn't involve rooting it and losing my warranty (which I will probably need now)?
Thanks a bunch
Hello,
have you tried to switch between the network mode; only WCDMA or only GSM? (Settings->Mobile Network->Network Mode)

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have, no effect. One other weird thing I have noticed since first posting: at the about -> Phone Identity screen, the phone number does not match my actual sim phone number. It reads the SIM fine though, as all my SIM contacts are available.
Could you use/try another SIM Card to check its work with a different one?
Is WiFi working? Any interruptions druing a regular call?

Regular call is impossible, as I have no cellular network at all. Wifi works fine. I am currently unable to try another SIM, as I'd have to cut a microsim out of a regular one and people around don't want to have their card cut up.
The sim works fine in my old nokia though, so I don't think that's the issue.
I'll try to find a friend with an iPhone 4 to try their microsim, but I'm not really counting on it.
