[Q] Minimum brightness is too bright - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm using a "stock" bassed ROM and DoomKernel 13, and I want to know if there is any method to reduce the minimum brightness level, because that minimum is too bright yet for me and my battery
In MIUI I remember I can decrease brightness untill screen backlight turns almost off.
Thanks

[Q] Turn Down Brightness

I was wondering whether there were any apps which would allow you to lower the brightness beneath the lowest setting available in settings? My brightness is at the lowest setting and I reckon I could lower it further and not be disappointed whilst saving myself some battery.
Any ideas?
I'd like to know this too. I've got my brightness at 0% using the "Brightness Level" app, but if I'm browsing I notice that if I sit on the screen for about 30 seconds, the screen will dim further beyond the supposed minimum.
Voodoo has an ultra low brightness mode.

Really? I used to run Voodoo beta 4 on Tayutama's JM8 ROM, but didn't see that feature and it's not mentioned in the changelog:

I'm currently using Hardcore kernel which seems to be faster (probably because of the No-RFS Advanced option I'm using)

Old Voodoo for Eclair had a low brightness mode, but ultra low brightness will be in future Voodoo release, in approx ~1 month
And of course it will be configurable (or it's as useful as annoying!)
Dimmer App
I use the Dimmer app available from the market. This takes brightness down to a third of the default minimum...
Screen filter from the market works really well, you can set it more or less to completley black if you want. But i am not sure if it helps saving battery. But as far as i know how AMOLEDs work it should help...
Anybody else using it?

[Q] Screen Brightness

hi, i'm using HTC Desire HD with leedroid rom and kernel.
i read that to save more battery, i must turn down the screen brightness to a low level. but i want to use the auto brightness function but sometimes it isnt accurate to the environment(sorry for bad english). uhm any tweaks or mods that has customized auto brightness? thanks in advance guys
I found that the best thing to do is to do it manualy by using the brightness level app on the market which has a slider on it.
I use Tasker to set the screen brightness to levels defined by me in response to ambient light levels. Takes some experimentation to get it working right, but it's worth it.
Or then you can switch to CM7 as it has all screen adjustments built in the settings i.e automatic screen dimming level adjustments, different levels etc etc.

Automatic brightness?

Hi!,
Since I buy the Yphone I've always wondered, The automatic brightness works?, cuz in the stock rom the energy control widget don't give the automatic brightness option, and if I install a custom rom and use the AB Option I don't see the difference about the most brightest option.
So I have two questions:
1) The automatic brightness option works?
2) If not : It's possible to make it work?
Thanks for all.
Charlie
what?automatic brightness?I don't see any option which mentioned automatic brightness in my device. are you sure about this?
I think we don't have light sensors

I thought that so (lol)
Yep. Auto brightness is impossible because SGY doesn't have light sensors. Best you could hope for is to automate it based on time.

i thought they have already have one. with high brightness setting, our screen's brightness will decreased if we set our screen timeout long.
Galaxy Y does have an ambient light sensor. So it DOES adjust the brightness. But you probably wont notice it because the brightness is set even if the screen is turned off. It will be brightest when you are in the sun. So its difficult to notice the change.
Really? Mine has never adjusted or anything. I have to adjust it myself.

Oh!, so the 2 little sensors in the front are just one aproximity sensor? So bad...

Screen Brightness adjustment

Hi guys, i was just wondering,
i want to adjust the brightness level in my Gnex according to my taste, which is set the minimum at 25% and then up to 100%. Ultra low brightness as found in stock and custom roms makes the screen look horrible, at 25% its 1000x better.
Now the tricky part is that i want to leave it at auto, simplyfying it i would like to have the brightness set at auto but the min and max values at 25-100%
How can i do this?
thanx in advance

Brightness in PIE 9

Hi guys, I was wondering Does anyone know why the brightness in android pie aosp is so low compared to miui? and if there is any way to increase it?
+1
Android Pie uses adaptive brightness and learns what your preferred brightness is over time. Keep adjusting your brightness for a week or so.

The problem that I see is not the automatic brightness, but in the low brightness, for example, 10% brightness in Miui is 35% in PIE, When I go out on the street with miui I use the brightness in half, but in android foot I have to use the maximum brightness and it still costs a bit to see. I think the example is understood.
what kernel are you on?
Google changed the brightness algorithms in P, so what you have is what google made it to be.
