Screen Brightness adjustment - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys, i was just wondering,
i want to adjust the brightness level in my Gnex according to my taste, which is set the minimum at 25% and then up to 100%. Ultra low brightness as found in stock and custom roms makes the screen look horrible, at 25% its 1000x better.
Now the tricky part is that i want to leave it at auto, simplyfying it i would like to have the brightness set at auto but the min and max values at 25-100%
How can i do this?
thanx in advance

Is it possible to lower the minimum automatic brightness level?

I really like the automatic brightness feature, but IMO it doesn't get nearly dim enough in dark situations. If I uncheck the auto brightness feature, I can dim the display to an acceptable level so I know the display is capable of it. Is there a way to adjust the threshold/range of the auto brightness levels?
Thanks,
Dave
A polite bump...
I wonder if you know the answer, do you?
Try the free market app, Dimmer. It works well, especially at night. Lowers the brightness to level 10, instead of default lowest of 30.

Do you know if this app will work with the new GB roms with the new sense on the novatech screens?

[Q] Screen Brightness

hi, i'm using HTC Desire HD with leedroid rom and kernel.
i read that to save more battery, i must turn down the screen brightness to a low level. but i want to use the auto brightness function but sometimes it isnt accurate to the environment(sorry for bad english). uhm any tweaks or mods that has customized auto brightness? thanks in advance guys
I found that the best thing to do is to do it manualy by using the brightness level app on the market which has a slider on it.
I use Tasker to set the screen brightness to levels defined by me in response to ambient light levels. Takes some experimentation to get it working right, but it's worth it.
Or then you can switch to CM7 as it has all screen adjustments built in the settings i.e automatic screen dimming level adjustments, different levels etc etc.

[Q] How to lower the minimum screen brightness?

I frequently read or surf on my tablet at night in a pitch-black room, and I find that the minimum brightness is still a bit too bright. I was wondering if anyone has figured out a way, after rooting the device, to lower the minimum brightness?
Yes, I am aware of such apps as ScreenFilter. But this only puts a software filter over the screen: the backlight is still producing more light. I want the added benefit of increased battery life as well.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
The minimum brightness is set in a config file in framework-res.apk (config_screenBrightnessSettingMinimum / config_screenBrightnessDim).
E.g., if you are building your own ROM, for Slim Bean it comes from here:
./device/asus/flo/overlay/frameworks/base/core/res/res/values/config.xml
Otherwise, you need to decompile/change framework-res.apk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306596
(If you set a value that's too low, your screen may go black.)

Colour change at min brightness.

MY issue with the stock Rom, which has been bugging me for a while is that when I reduce the brightness to the minimum, the Contrast changes, or something of the sorts, this really annoys me and I would like to disable it. Can someone help me out? I really don't want to flash a custom ROM.
I think that's normal because of AMOLED display, I also noticed it on CM14.1
This is simply the way this particular screen works, can't be fixed with software.
You can only avoid it by not reducing brightness as much. According to "Lux" the color shift starts under 4% brightness.

But why does the min brightness in mxplayer not have this issue?

Because mx player doesn't set the brightness as low as you can set it manually using the brightness slider.
Select menu - display - settings - screen - untick "brightness". Now you can set your brightness manually to even lower using the brightness slider.
Other apps seem to work similarly (for example an third party brightness widget)... Not setting it to minimum... Like they don't recognize the "real" minimum brightness - which is lower. I don't have this "issue" on my tablet. Haven't looked much into it though.

Brightness in PIE 9

Hi guys, I was wondering Does anyone know why the brightness in android pie aosp is so low compared to miui? and if there is any way to increase it?
+1
Android Pie uses adaptive brightness and learns what your preferred brightness is over time. Keep adjusting your brightness for a week or so.

The problem that I see is not the automatic brightness, but in the low brightness, for example, 10% brightness in Miui is 35% in PIE, When I go out on the street with miui I use the brightness in half, but in android foot I have to use the maximum brightness and it still costs a bit to see. I think the example is understood.
what kernel are you on?
Google changed the brightness algorithms in P, so what you have is what google made it to be.
