I am thinking of getting this SanDisk Ultra® II SDHC 16GB High Performance Card found here:
http://apac.sandisk.com/Products/It...Ultra_II_SDHC_16GB_High_Performance_Card.aspx
How do I know if this is a cat4 or cat6 SD Card. Will I be able to fully utilize the 16GB SD card on the Elfin? Compatibility issues?
Anyway whats the largest capacity SD Card that the Elfin supports?
hi
i have kingston 4GB and is working in my HTC 3452
God please... you know what're writing
you need MICRO SD - no SD !
the biggest capacity of micro SDHC is 8gb and it's working fine
lol
Oh woops! So the Elfin uses microSD card lol...
In that case how does this SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSD card go with the Elfin. Is it a cat4 or cat 6 card?
http://apac.sandisk.com/Products/It...-SanDisk_Mobile_Ultra_microSDHC_8GB_Card.aspx
Or should I go for the Kingston one...,
http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/con...ack=http://www.kingston.com&ktcpartno=SD6/8GB
Does anyone know if the Kingston 16GB class4 microSD work with the Elfin?
I heard that the Elf can work with 4GB max, is the Elfin different? Are u sure the 8GB microSD is working correctly??
Yes, it works perfect. I am using 8GB for 6 months without problems. Theoretical, it can works with a 32GB card, but as jackolus said, there is only 8 GB on the market.
From what I've researched before purchasing the phone, it can support up to 32GB in MicroSD, the Elfin, not sure if the Elf does the same.
non-sdhc cards ended with 4gb
i don't know, if there are any special builded cards arround with 6gb or 8gb without sdhc...
up to 4gb there is only sdhc.
it was created to enable sized up to 32gb.
so every mashine, that can read sdch-standart should be enable to handle cards up to 32gb...in theory...
ELF should be enabled as well...
but i think, it's also a kind of politics.
it won't lasst more than 1 year from now on, then there will come a new sdhc2.0 standart or something else, and all the people must bye new mashines, phones and readers if they want to have space that's bigger than 32gb...
...i saw it in my crystal ball
Yeah Elf should support 32 G MicroSDHC cards.
I'm waiting for 16G to come out this month or next.
Running an 8G now in my ELF.
32G regular SDHC, not micro also came out this month.
I know someone using an 8 gig micro sdhc on their touch elf. I seriously considered buying one as I am only using a 4 gig micro sdhc however has recently decided to wiat for the 16 gig to come out. 16 gigs would be so much nicer on my phone then 8 gigs.
yes, 16gb micro sd cards work. http://www.mobymemory.com/micro-SD.asp
64GB

I believe that I have read somewher that 32 gig is the biggest for SDHC. Anything bigger will be a whole new class of card and will not be supported by our devices. By the time 64 gig is released, we will probably not even be using our current devices anyways. It takes to damn long for the bigger cards to come out.
I dont think we will see 64g till 2011
& thats when the new PS4 will be out too
for now enjoy the 16g card out in nov

I have Att Fuze
works great
Took longer then I was told, but it finally came in. Sandisk 16 gig class 2 Micro SDHC - I stuck in in to make sure it was real and sure enough - Just over 15 gig's registered on my device as free space. Now to fill it up. I am a very happy camper and it cost less then $100.00 Canadian - I am the first person in my area to get one - even most of the people at the local shops - "The Source", Almost every computer shop and electronic's store still say you can't get them that big, but I went in and showed them today - they couldn't believe it. Man, what are they doing working / running these shops if they don't / can't even keep up with technology. It's just too bad I had to wait this long. Oh well, I have it now and so far it works great.
Edit: I just uploaded my backup of my original four gig card and loaded it up on my device and guess what. It works great - Actually - Loading times are faster now for movies, Music and programs installed on the card. I am an even happier camper now.
Whats the biggest micro card this phone will support. Are 32gb / 64gb even made?
i ordered this 16gb one, if there are 32 or 64 i want to know too
Kingston Technology SDC2/16GB 16 GB microSDHC Class 2 Flash Card
At the moment the largest card is 16GB.
16g is the largest, but 32g is coming out soon. My guess is that they will be quite expensive and no word on speed. While the class (speed) is in write mode only, it does make a difference when using the camera or writing files to the card.
I got a Ridata 16gig Class 6 microsd three days ago and works great!

The largest Rhodium supports is 32GB.
SDHC specs out at 32GB max.
I think only a few companies make 16GB Class 6 cards. Transcend being one of them. I don't think you can get 32GB ones just as yet and no way you can get a Class 6 one anyway.

and i think before they release 32gb SDHC they'll go the SDXC way with 64 & 128gb model.
if you plan on getting a Transcend card for use with a GSM TP2, be careful. There have been reports of Transcend cards not working well with the TP2. I personally experienced it, when my Class 6 8GB card would randomly disappear from the phone, or when music would skip during playback. Switched to a Sandisk Class 2 8GB that came with my BB Storm, and haven't experienced a single problem.
And also, note that the Transcend card worked great in my BB Storm, BB Bold 9700, LG Incite and Samsung BJII before this. Nothing wrong with the card, just with the TP2.
16gb is the largest built. 32gb is the largest theoretical that sdhc supports. youll need sdxc for more than that. i wonder if rhodium will support this in the future. old htc devices (and samsung) that could only do regular sd that capped at 4gb could do sdhc with a rom/driver update. sdxc supports up to 2tb which will be interesting to see.
The 32g microsd is long over due. Every so often there will be a press release that the 32 will be release within the next month or so. The projected time frame will come and go. There was a PR stating that 64g was in the works.
if a 32gb microsd card is sold i will buy it. i have an 8gb and could get a 16gb surprisingly cheap but i wont buy a stop gap knowing a 32 might be out soon.
I just got my 16gb no name cheapie from hong kong micro sd card for my tp2 in the mail. I spent numerous hours setting it up with the programs I wanted on it music and such. I had used it for about an hour or so and all the sudden the phone went crazy.. somehow the card corrupted it self im guessing cause the phone no longer recognized it or anything on it.. I removed the card and put it in my card reader to my laptop nothing was on it but a mess of folders all with the name ".." I thought maybe I had done something wrong so I formatted it and tried again. same thing happened the next day. I now reverted back to my 8gb sandisk and havent had any problems with it.. I guess its a get what you pay for kinda deal. Maybe there is something I can do I would think flash memory is flash memory but I guess they have their diffrences. Just wanted to share my .02 on my experience I would like to get another 16gb because bigger is better but ill wait it out and see what is to come next.
Biggest MicroSD Card
Sandisk 64GB SDXC formatted Fat32 works.. recognised as 60871.23MB under Settings > System > Memory and by Total Commander File Manager.
Hi folks,
Does anyone have any idea of the memory card shipping with the Desire?
I've pre-ordered a Desire from Clove but it occurred to me the other day that there seems to be no information anywhere about what, if any, MicroSD card will be shipped with the phone. My current Touch HD shipped with an 8GB card and my wife's Hero came with a 2GB card, but what about the Desire?
I fired off emails to HTC and Clove a couple of days ago. To date Clove have not responded and HTC said that that decision would be left to the importer and retailer.
So right now I've no info and don't know whether I need to order a card separately in readiness for the arrival of my new beasty.
Hi Folks
I've heard from Clove now - should have known they wouldn't let me down ...they were waiting to hear from their suppliers. Their Desires will ship with a 4GB card.
Legend comes with 2GB, my guesses for the Desire will be 4GB.
Wish they would start chucking 8gig cards in. I have a 8gig spare but would be nice if they came with one. Don't cost much nowadays. Like you said though you can always rely on Clove.. I wont go anywhere else even if other places are 20-30 quid cheaper.
It's not the most trustworthy source but Wikipedia has it listed as having a 8gb card.
Hi HTC's website shows it comes with a 8gb micro sd
It shows a picture of a 8GB micro-sd card. It doesn't say it is supplied with one
The following feature list is from Clove
Features of HTC Desire
* Google Android 2.1 with HTC Sense interface
* 1GHz Processor
* 3.7 inch AMOLED display for better quality image resolution whilst using less power
* HSDPA wireless connectivity
* Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR
* WiFi 802.11b/g
* Internal GPS antenna
* Optical, clickable trackball
* Less than 12mm thick
* 135g in weight
* 1400mAh battery
* MicroUSB connectivity
* 3.5mm audio jack
* MicroSDHC memory card slot (with 4GB MicroSDHC card included)
* HTC Friend Stream

That wasn't there a couple of days ago so I guess they added it as a result of my (and others?) question.
T-Mobile got the Desire also with 4GB listed.
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645571
So I think 4GB it is!
Alot of ppl have gotten their handsets now, so what is the answer to this topic?
I got my handset Saturday morning and it ships with a 4gb card.
Yup, I second chris.semple.
My Desire from T-Mobile came with a 4GB card pre-installed.
Standard T-Mo ships with a 4GB Sandisk Class *2* card - not the fastest thing in a memory slot so would suggest spending a few bob on an 8GB Class 6 (~£15) - makes a lot of difference when copying vids etc from PC to Desire.
From Slashgear review:
The Desire has 512MB of ROM and 576MB of RAM, and takes up to 32GB microSDs; there’ll be an 8GB card in the retail box.

Hoping 8GB is right, and that's what I've read the HTC people telling review-sites around the time it was launched too.
Size of the SD card is down to the retailer/network, this has been said multiple times.

I believe it's 32GB
Ahh pipped to the post by the chap above! Sandisk have recently just announced a 32GB card a few days ago with a retail price of approx $200
So that means they'll be quite expensive here as well!!
Mine has also arrived with a 4Gb card installed.
Yep, it's true! I just put £440 down for a Dell Venue Pro at Clove;
http://www.clove.co.uk/dell-venue-pro
It has been confirmed that it has an SDHC slot, so I ordered a 32GB Micro SDHC card from Amazon as well. The phone comes with 8GB on board so I'll have a total of 40GB. It's scheduled for delivery on 8th November.
So why a Dell Venue Pro?
1) It has a hardware keyboard, which I prefer
2) The screen is a huge 4.1" AMOLED (yum)
3) The glass is "Gorilla Glass" toughened
4) It's one of very few SIM-free handsets available in the UK
5) It has 1GB of ROM
6) It won't be cluttered up with much OEM garbage
7) It's less expensive than the Omnia / HTC etc
8) It has an SDHC card slot, which none of the HTCs or other UK phones seem to have
Looking forward to taking delivery and filling up that 40GB with Moo Sick.
Well, if the specs are correct and it really has memory expansion slot, I think we have a winner here
Both Clove and Expansys clearly state the SDHC slot is there, if it isn't I shall be returning the device. I took screenshots of the info for later use if necessary
It's a helluva phone with all that lovely storage in it!
the Sandisk 32GB is like class 2 i think?
i'd've gone for a 16GB that is class 6 or 10. if the read/write rate is atrocious, it makes managing a large capacity like 32GB unbearable. but if you have speed, it makes it all better.
Hey,
Is it 100% that the Venue Pro (why, oh why, did they dump the Lightning name??) has SDHC support? So often sites show specs but they end up being wrong so I was wondering if you've seen it confirmed anywhere else other than Clove?
If it's true then THIS is the phone I'm going to get - and to think, I almost caved and went to get an Omnia 7 tonight *phew*
to bad that one selling there is not the US 3g compatible ..bands are 900/2100.. need to be 850/1900 for usa
and i have the feelings t mobile wont have this in nov.. ****...
Yes it's class 2.
I've been running a class 2 16GB card in my HD2 for a while without any issues. Speed is only really important for writing to the card anyway, and class 2 is perfectly capable of playing video and music so there's no problem at all. I prefer storage size to speed on my phones anyway.

I think your right with that
can someone please provide a link to buy a fast sdhc card from somewhere for this device? 16GB or 32GB.
almost all WP7 phone will have a "SDHC slot", but it's used for a "embadded" sd card which holds systems files and "internal" storage. Say for Dell Venue Pro, you reads there is a 8GB storage, meaning there is a 8GB sd card in that slot. you can't use the phone if you removed the original sd card, as I understood from M$.
If you have to removed the 8GB card for the 32GB, then you wont have 40GB. Also, I do believe you can switch them out. You just might need to hard reset after.

It's probably going to lead to a slow feel and experience as well; switching the default card for a class 2 card.
A NOTE ON WP7 AND SD CARDS:
At the moment, no publicly available microSD card has the correct characteristics to be used as internal memory for WP7.
The "Class" system for SD cards measures minimum bulk transfer speeds, while this is useful for devices like cameras, it is not so good if the SD card is being used as a device's main storage.
This is not FUD or BS - the micro SD cards being shipped with the phones have a lower latency and random read\write rates than the normal ones you can purchase.
The reason they are including user-accessible slots is such that 1) the carriers can offer different capacity sizes in-store when selling the phone and 2) (hopefully) in the near future they may be cards that are publicly available with the correct characteristics that can be certified to work with WP7.
For the time being, I would recommend holding off on buying a micro SD card for your WP7.

I don't think that will work. Is it SDHC? I have a 32 GB class 10 and I had to do a full format on my PC to get it to work with Android.
Didn't know there are 64gb microSD cards already...Still looking for 32gb with 17mb/sec write...$50 at NewEgg, but it lasts like couple of days before sold out..
The AT&T store told me 64G cards won't work. That's too bad. I'd like to get at least a 32G eventually.
Can one buy any 32G microSD card? I don't need anything fancy, it just needs to work.

I remember 4-5 years ago when 16gb just came out, many phones didn't support them, yet they worked together ok, it's just manufactures didn't test it, that's all...maybe it's same case here, unless it's not SDHC anymore.

Yes you can, but you might want to check compatibility for 32 GB cards. I know there is an issue with 32 GB class 10 cards. You have to do a full format on them in order for Android to see them.

I am pretty sure the 64 GB micro SD cards are not SDHC. Atleast I haven't see one that was.
64gb micro sd cards are SDXC. They've been proven to work on SGS2, Sensation, Droid Razr, Asus Transformer tab, even on a Nook and SGS1.
64gb cards are supported, just not officially.
As I understand it, there's no difference mechanically between SDHC and SDXC. The main difference is the file system they use, so the OS just needs to be compatible with the new file system and it should work. As the post above notes, android is already proven compatible but until someone tries one in a Nitro it's tough to say that it'll work for sure.
The other difference between SDHC and SDXC is support for speeds higher than class 10, which an SDHC host wouldn't be able to take advantage of.
I've seen a thread on here where someone used a 64gb card in the Nitro with success. It may have been the thread titled "Crappy SD card..."?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417920
unfortunately, no one has yet to try the 64gb SDXC card just yet, most likely due to the astronomical price range. Below is one from amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobil...WIA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327458819&sr=8-1
Just posting to confirm that the 64gb SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC Class 6 (that I ordered from Amazon here for $55.00) works perfectly in the Nitro! Just pop it into the phone to format it. The phone will initially say it's damaged, let the phone format it, and then you're good to go! (I'd read that for other android phones, trying to format this card on the pc and then using it on the phone doesn't work that well, so I went straight for the phone formatting method). It shows 59.46 GB of space usable. I've filled it all up to test it, and it seems to work just fine! It's only class 6, so I only get about 6 to 8 MB/s write speeds, but I think that's plenty fast for the phone. There is also a class 10 version of this card for 25 bucks more on Amazon, but, for me, it didn't warrant the extra cost. Just letting you guys know in case you're digital hoarders like me! =)
I just got SanDisk Ultra 64GB class 10 micro SDXC .. it worked like charm.
first it says memory card error and need to format... just format and mount it ... it shows 60GB available space ... :laugh:
HIT thanks if that helps !!
