WTF only a 2gb Card Included

I know they are dirt cheap now, but why in the world would Softbank decide to only include a 2gb card? Its practically insulting - especially being in Japan when one gets used to having access to almost anything.

Maybe its just a typo? or they are not exactly sure how much, so they speculated 2GB

Not too likely. Its Japan. They will never write something official unless they are sure (99% of the time). Then again, its just like Softbank to try and make an extra buck or two by cutting corners. Im just happy Japan is finally getting a decent android phone - and lucky to have it coming to my carrier.
Funny thing is, docomo is releasing a 4" android device sometime too, funny that its only got 1.6 running tho.

It's down to the retailer which SD card they bundle, if they want to ship it with a 2GB card then they can.

Yes, I thought CPW 4gb was stingey... I guess I should count myself lucky.
To be honest the CPW 4gb is a class 2 card anyway, which is a bit crap... so I put in the 8gb class 6 I already owned.

Anyone know what size T-Mobile are supplying? As others have said it doesn't really matter as I have an 8GB class 6 in my G1 just waiting to be swapped out on Tuesday (D-day for me).

2GB is fine, the memory cards of that size are peanuts and its better to have a memory card with the phone then non at all. I have a HTC desire and just ordered another one, i have not got any memory card with either

I suspect Orange will supply 4GB aswell like they did with my SE C905.

T-mobile supplied a 4GB card. The only problem is that it is Class 2. Doesn't matter at the moment but when the phone is eventually "rooted" a Class 6 or better card would be preferred.

Yeah they wont supply higher class cards with the phone, but I seen a 8GB transcend class 6 card for £15 on some sites so not too bad.

I don't think that will work. Is it SDHC? I have a 32 GB class 10 and I had to do a full format on my PC to get it to work with Android.

Didn't know there are 64gb microSD cards already...Still looking for 32gb with 17mb/sec write...$50 at NewEgg, but it lasts like couple of days before sold out..

The AT&T store told me 64G cards won't work. That's too bad. I'd like to get at least a 32G eventually.

I remember 4-5 years ago when 16gb just came out, many phones didn't support them, yet they worked together ok, it's just manufactures didn't test it, that's all...maybe it's same case here, unless it's not SDHC anymore.

Yes you can, but you might want to check compatibility for 32 GB cards. I know there is an issue with 32 GB class 10 cards. You have to do a full format on them in order for Android to see them.

I am pretty sure the 64 GB micro SD cards are not SDHC. Atleast I haven't see one that was.

64gb micro sd cards are SDXC. They've been proven to work on SGS2, Sensation, Droid Razr, Asus Transformer tab, even on a Nook and SGS1.
64gb cards are supported, just not officially.

As I understand it, there's no difference mechanically between SDHC and SDXC. The main difference is the file system they use, so the OS just needs to be compatible with the new file system and it should work. As the post above notes, android is already proven compatible but until someone tries one in a Nitro it's tough to say that it'll work for sure.
The other difference between SDHC and SDXC is support for speeds higher than class 10, which an SDHC host wouldn't be able to take advantage of.

I've seen a thread on here where someone used a 64gb card in the Nitro with success. It may have been the thread titled "Crappy SD card..."?

unfortunately, no one has yet to try the 64gb SDXC card just yet, most likely due to the astronomical price range. Below is one from amazon.

Just posting to confirm that the 64gb SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC Class 6 (that I ordered from Amazon here for $55.00) works perfectly in the Nitro! Just pop it into the phone to format it. The phone will initially say it's damaged, let the phone format it, and then you're good to go! (I'd read that for other android phones, trying to format this card on the pc and then using it on the phone doesn't work that well, so I went straight for the phone formatting method). It shows 59.46 GB of space usable. I've filled it all up to test it, and it seems to work just fine! It's only class 6, so I only get about 6 to 8 MB/s write speeds, but I think that's plenty fast for the phone. There is also a class 10 version of this card for 25 bucks more on Amazon, but, for me, it didn't warrant the extra cost. Just letting you guys know in case you're digital hoarders like me! =)

I just got SanDisk Ultra 64GB class 10 micro SDXC .. it worked like charm.

If so, is it known (or reasonably speculated) when the 32GB be offered?

If it's one thing I've learned about Samsung, when it comes to other models of their products with higher built-in memory, don't hold your breath, especially for carrier specific versions on top of that! You'll be blue in the face before it happens...
Just get a 64GB micro SD card and be happy with that, seriously. Plus, the Note 2 supports exFAT right out of the box, so as long as your SD card is formatted that way, you no longer have to worry about the 4GB file size limit of FAT32

I further noticed that the Galaxy Note 1 was offered only in 16gb flavour throughout the Canadian and American carriers, despite Samsung suggesting that 32gb was possible (evidentially never for the NA market). From that, I will speculate that the 16gb will be the only memory size for the Note 2. (I am guessing they are doing that to keep the price down on an already very costly device.)

By the time you are able to get your hands on a 32/64GB version, the S4 and GN3 will be arriving soon. Wished Samsung would be smart & make these models available sooner rather than later.

I mean if the fruit company can make all 3 variants of their device available on day one, why can't Samsung?
I mean, yes we do get expandable storage, but having that 32 or 64 gig start is always nice. Not only that, but 16 gig feels so last generation. LOL

Ya, I wouldn't pay for the extra 16gb of storage. There's really no point, IMO. Considering, like someone else mentioned, it supports up to 64gb SD anyway.

Well, the point is that 16GB internal + 64GB external is 80GB, and if you want to store more than 80GB on your phone, the 16GB internal configuration will not allow that, while a 32GB or 64GB will allow more than 80GB total storage space.

How many people actually require that amount of local data storage on their phone these days? I mean, I have the 16x64 setup on mine, and I have never felt cramped for space, ever. Seriously, I have like several HD movies and TV series on my 64gb card, and even then I'm only taking up about half the capacity. As for all my 30+ gigs of music, that's all in the cloud with Google Play Music.

That implies that you don't listen to music very often, that you're usually on wifi, or that you have an unlimited data plan and charge often.
Seriously, the "cloud" doesn't work for many people when the cost of data is so high.
(On the other hand, I manage fine with a 16GB phone + 64GB microSD card - and no "cloud" usage.)
There's also a good chance that a 128GB microSD card would work, but just wasn't tested. I know that several older devices (that only claim to support 32GB cards) work fine with 64GB cards when formatted as FAT32.
Personally, I prefer removable storage to phone internal storage anyway. If the phone bricks, you can take the microSD card out and read it with another device.

I'm a mobile gamer & I like to be able to have tons of games on my phone. With higher storage, I'm able to store more games w/o uninstall the ones I'm not currently playing.
I bet Samsung would sell even more if they had 32/64GB version like the iFruit company. 32/64GB nand memory can't be all that expensive can it? Is there a parts shortage?

I listen to my music very often, wifi is ubiquitous, and though I do have unlimited data, I don't use so much of it that being on a tiered data plan would make any difference to me. The cloud is here to stay, whether people embrace it or not.
Sure there will always be a desire for more local storage, but that's why we have expandable memory and, in some cases, multiple cards.
At least this time around, with the new design, you no longer have to power down the device just to swap out a card

Remember, you can also get a micro-usb to usb adapter and plug in a flash drive as well for additional storage. Not ideal but you can load up on media this way.

I can say that I tried. While I was using a 16GB GSM gnex as my primary device, it forced me to use "the cloud" for music storage, and my data usage doubled to over 1GB/week (from about 400MB/week.) Being on a 3GB monthly tier, this was a slight issue.

64GB microSD is working on the Note 2 stock rom and it only costs $60 on amazon.

64GB or 256GB model... which one you getting?

Curious what people are going to get if getting the new tablet. 64GB, 256GB or Unsure.

The pre-order promotion (free keyboard cover) in my country (belgium) only applies to the 64 GB model, so I voted 64 GB...

So maybe to help people with sizing... was just at the store looking at the 64GB display model.
So out of it, it had 35.3GB usable on the device, with.. roughly 7.5GB installed from apps and some promo video/images. So overall max of 42.8GB roughly.

Without a doubt, I am getting the 256gb version. I am replacing a failing tab s 8.4 with 16gb version. Currently with the games I play, I fill the internal storage very fast. And trying to use external storage really slows down the performance. So I would rather not run into that again in any way. Hoping this tab can also last me 4 years like the last one did.

Got the 64GB model after reallying thinking about it and took a chance. 52GB actually usable space! Whew [emoji3] Plenty for apps, and general storage. Videos and such on SD Card is good for me.

I got the 64GB version, I'm on the fence with this purchase, on the one hand it's a decent enough tablet. On the other hand, Dex needs to be fleshed out more, but is better than ANY chrome os laptop/tablet-hybrid I've tried.
Some Advice: If you go with Best Buy, get the insurance on it. I found out a few years ago with my Samsung Watch that one feature of insurance they don't tell you about is the ability to trade up. Meaning you can sell them your outdated device at the EXACT same price you paid for it, taxes included and it goes back to you in Store Credit. Meaning. Buy the 64GB now, turn it in for the 256 when it comes out, since it wasn't at my Best Buy and they inferred that it was coming at some unknown time. I live in Chicago.

in Canada, the 64GB is already priced ridiculously. the 256GB is the better "deal" but the price can't be justified given last gen specs.
IMO Samsung should have made a "standard" Tab S4 @ current specs, and then a Tab S4+ @ 256GB, 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 845, LTE.

I am based in the Netherlands and would like to purchase the 256Gb model, but it appears that the 64Gb model is the only one (initially) being released in the country.
I checked a few other European countries, but the same situation seems to apply there, too.
Does anyone know of a list of which models are to be released in which countries? I'm currently out of the country until September and travelling back via Dubai then, so if the device were available at the airport, I could pick one up there instead of pre-ordering on-line from a Dutch shop. Of course, I won't then get the good pre-order deal on the keyboard case, so I have to factor that in, too.

Most things do not write to the SD card. Only apps I'm aware that do are multimedia applications, which really is the bulk of the storage space on a device typically.

Nope! All of your apps will install to the internal storage. Some apps will store some data on your SD card (not the same as installing to SDcard) . In short it will be nothing close to having 256gb internal storage. That's why I purchased the 256gb version and expect to take delivery by tomorrow.

Yes, I saw a youtube video and the guy had a 256g LTE version. Don't recall the region/location.
Happiness would be a 256g LTE with the voice phone radio/ability

Definitely the 64gb, I already have a 256gb microsd card. You can force apps to sd in developer options, but honestly I only need the storage for movies and comics, which is built into the apps I use.

After being sceptical about buying the 64gb version, I have now had a few weeks to see how it goes. I have around 150 apps and a 64gb sd card. The main storage is less than half full as is the sd card. I no longer hanker after the 256gb. Very happy?

TL;DR: I'm debating the Tab or iPad, as I don't particularly like Apple's ecosystem, but all the useful apps pertaining to my interests are on iOS. Between the two, both of these devices cost the same for me whether it's 64 or 256GiB. I would go for 256.
You know I've had an Nvidia Shield since 2013. People were still saying that 16GiB should be enough for storage (arguably even 32). This is considering that games, even then, were starting to become fairly large for mobile gaming. I've actually used it up to about this year - though it's slow even on clean install, and the issues of overall sluggishness were never addressed with any update (since Nvidia was quick to ditch support once their tablet came along). It's at a point where I can't do anything on it today other than emulation, but I want to be able to create music and edit videos on a tablet.
I'd plan on obtaining the Korean 256/6 GiB version since it's the only model I've seen in that capacity - though I might have to sacrifice a leg (customs/tax and UPS's bologna "brokerage fees") for this thing costing an arm to begin with. However, also plan on keeping it as long as my Nvidia shield, and even longer. My personal use is mostly going to lie in multimedia creation and some mobile gaming. hopefully I can run a DAW like FL Studio mobile without issue on it but by reviews it seems buggy on a lot of modern devices, so I'm hesitant to drop money on something that may or may not work -- though I have Caustic 3, which works without issue on my Note, but is limited (made for much older devices).
Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of junk apps on the Play store that "you may be interested in". This is what's throwing off my decision to buy the tablet. Too many fart soundboards and fake DJ apps, and not enough professional apps - please correct me if I'm wrong - they seem to be sparse on Android. There is SoundCamp, and while it uses some device features, I don't really care for it.

It seems Samsung does not make itself uhs-ii cards. I looked at AData, ProGrade and Lexar. From tests it seems ADATA is fairly impressive at speeds exceeding 200MB/s for both read and write

Unless some really low data rate is utilized, I cannot see writing capture directly to any removable storage with 8K/24 output. The device will become unresponsive.

The phone supports UFS cards, according to the two Samsung support people I spoke too. So you could aways try those but I believe only size available currently is 256gb and smaller.

Take their words with a pinch of salt. i spoke to one personally and he told me the phone does not support UFS card. The only way to find out now is hope one of the owners can test it and share the result with us.

I actually made an error and looked at the SDXC figures for the 128GB card. I should have been looking at the 3rd page (linked above) that is about microSDXC.
ADATA microSD does not seem that fast unfortunately. I can get the Lexar card too. I really have no preference. Lexar simply seems a bit better. That would only matter if the phone support UHS-II.
UFS card support as speculated above will be fantastic. I do not see it listed in the Samsung S20 Series Specs though. I only find the following on Samsung web site (all other sites kind of copy creatively this text and likely mess it up due to negligence or sheer incompetence.)

I actually made an error and looked at the SDXC figures for the 128GB card. I should have been looking at the 3rd page (linked above) that is about microSDXC.
ADATA microSD does not seem that fast unfortunately. I can get the Lexar card too. I really have no preference. Lexar simply seems a bit better. That would only matter if the phone support UHS-II.
UFS card support as speculated above will be fantastic. I do not see it listed in the Samsung S20 Series Specs though. I only find the following on Samsung web site (all other sites kind of copy creatively this text and likely mess it up due to negligence or sheer incompetence.)

Thanks! I looked into some V90 MicroSDXC cards, and it appears that Delkin Power is the fastest for write speeds. However, it's pretty expensive, and I ended up getting a 128GB Lexar 1800x card (probably the next fastest one).
Hoping that the Ultra does indeed support UFS! Cheers.

still waiting for confirmation of samsung ufs memory card compatbility with s20 ultra. i would like to get one and test but unfortunately it's only sold in US.

I ordered the 256gb UFS card from Samsung early February but still hadn't been shipped yet but once it comes I'll let you guys know if it works in Samsung ultra (USA version).
Has a 6th March estimate shipping date.

Hi, it seems UFS hasnt the same form factor as MicroSd (+ different pins?) , so how could it work except if you could change the tray with sim+sd and theS20U has been designed for it?

Should be arriving tomorrow or day after, huge delays because of the virus etc. Ended up ordering from Korean seller on eBay as Samsung kept delaying, finger's crossed if it's legit plus actually works ?

Lol ok thanks. Thought you have disappeared after so long.

so I got the card today, and it sits in the micro SD slot just fine, but the phone sadly doesn't detect the card at all. tried all sorts of stuff but it wont detect it.
so that's that!

Just what i was guessing in post#12 , it s not the same pin design and interface , if i read correctly what i saw yesterday ufs cards should be for Note 20 : first Samsung's Smartphone with ufs3.1 Memory
to keep high speed rates with external memory , should be logical to give up SDcards and offer a slot for UFS cards in Galaxy Note 20

I know this isnt about UFS cards. Hopefully someone can answer. What is a decent large microsd for the s20 ultra 400-512gb. I've looked at the SanDisk, Lexpro, Samsung cards. Do any of them really work better than the other.? Is there a sweet spot in price/speed? Thanks

I have multiple cards Sandisk Extreme Pro 400gb, Sandisk extreme 400gb, Samsung Evo Plus 256gb and an older Samsung Evo 64gb however i still need to do some tests, i will post this here.

Lexar Professional 1800x MicroSDXC 128GB UHS-II is fast at a somewhat reasonable price.
U3 V90 cards are the fastest as of now, but some are ridiculously priced.
