Noob question - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I was wondering if there's a difference from lower voltages via vipermod and lowering CPU frequencies via lets say voltage control or cyanogenmod tweaks? Just trying to get great battery life on aosp. Any help is appreciated.

oc evo

Hey guys is it safe to use set cpu to oc evo? or what app would you recommend?
I use set CPU and it is safe to a certain point. If you overclock to far your phone will lock up and you will have to pull the battery. You have to experiment to see how far u can go. My phone is stable as a rock at 1152 MHz but gets llocked up at 1190 MHz so like i said experiement with it

614 mhz is the new OC! Try over clocking for sure but you see more profitable results under clocking. I do however use set cpu to OC when I am charging

Fellas,im looking to use SetCPU to OC my evo,i need a custom kernel i assume.two questions.
1.can i flash a custom kernel using the mount/unmount zip in recovery for my GodMode Synergy?
2.What Are Good Values,im trying to safely underclock to save battery life.

@gotheart, I strongly suggest freedom kernel by Lithid. There are bugs as it is in beta stage but he is an amazing developer and will implement an incredible kernel. He has one specifically for godmode so make sure you get that. He has versions that underVOLT the processor, using less battery. Though I would be cautious as some phones become very unstable with these changes.
Underclocking for CPU is variable... I like 614 MHz, some choose to go lower. I have noticed Sense ROMs (like synergy) are a bit more touchy with performance tweaks. For me, even in hot weather I need to bump my settings up, as my phone can't keep up with the heat.

Thanks so much man.i was a dev at one point..but i dunno jack about clocking cpu.lol.so youre saying 614,as in set the max value to 614 correct?and i sure will check out that kernel

Not to be a nag,but im digging for that kernel,no dice.can u link me over there pal?

I use 128 min and 614 Max. Depending on my use, and how often I'm flashing, I can get about 20 solid hours

Thanks again man.i appreciate the assistance...we all needed it at one point lol.

im using 128 MHz and 614MHz with the smartass governor.. runs really good
My best battery life is on AOSP ROM's with this set up on tiamat kernel.

what aosp rom your running?
I had been running decks, however, I have jumped skip to SalvagMod.

Ill also note a program i purchased, was cpu master by antutu inc.
Pretty much similar to setcpu.
Has profile options etc.

[Q] help i am needing help with oc and uv

hello i have right now beast mod 4.2 and , i am wanting to under clock it to get about 1 1/2 days out before it hits 10%. if some one could help me with the M.V value i am currently using antutu cpu master pro from 192mhz to 1.836ghz

Im not familiar with antutu. Does M.V have to do with the voltage? If so be careful about lowering it much more. Because the kernel that comes with it is already under volted, and your phone could go bonkers. You need to lower the CPU speed to about 1.118. You wont notice any difference in speed. Im running BeastMod and I dont use any off screen profiles, synergy kernel goes into deep sleep with out any.
I have git my goal but now my phone is slow I am running at 450!-850 but I would like to run 700-1200

Yes it does mirror volt is what you less for under volt do I think Mr. X could tell me

[Q] Undervolting

Hey, I have a new question. How do I undervolt my epic 4g touch? This extends battery life exponentially right? Like from 8 hrs to 20? I have the Blazer Rom, and I was speaking to someone the other day and he also mentioned overclocking versus underclocking. How are these modifications done?
It wont give you that big of a screen on time increase but it will help.. assuming your rooted with a custom kernel that supports it you can go to calkulins rom post and in his 2nd or 3rd post he has flashable undervolts for yah gl!

Did you try to undervolt Memory Frequency?

Hi,
we also talk about CPU/GPU undervolt but i never heard someone who tried to undervolt the memory RAM/ROM ? In order to increase battery life.
I'm afraid of triying because no one tried yet, isn't ?
Majority of power goes to cpu and gpu and display. So there is no point on undervolting memory.

Hi
Are you sure? If you look at Stweak example for Cpu at 800mhz you have about 1015mv and memory get about 1000mv so it's around the same volt. I conclud that memory drain some battery ??
Thanks
You can undervolt memory, just take a look at the Memory/Internal section in STweaks.
You can but you will have hard time figuring out stable values

Ok thanks guys.
Did anyone tried to do this? ??

Overclocking and undervolting CPU/GPU

Ok, so I'm currently unhappy with my battery life. I used to underclock the CPU on my HTC Evo but im not sure how to do this on the S3 i found a guide under the I9300 for this but i need to know if it is usable for our device as well. Also, curious as to how overclocking the GPU affects battery life. Is it the same as overclocking the CPU or is there little to no change? Also i want to know the most common voltages used as well
