Hi,
Recently my galaxy nexus has been behaving strangely. For some reason, when I search for certain apps (e.g. Imdb, friendcaster etc etc) they do not appear in my searches.
If I visit via the direct link, it says this application is not compatible with your device
If I reflash my ROM and kernel, the market works fine for a little while..then the above problem reappears
I have also tried clearing market cache and data, but this does not solve the problem
Any ideas?

Most common error: stop changing your density or don't install a rom with changed density.
I used "fix market compatibility" within LCD monitor pro which installed a spoof 320dpi market. I can now find all apps, although I'm slightly worried about the safety of this spoof market

Same thing happened to me the other day. Went to download Titanium Backup in the market after flashing Driven. Couldn't find it. Had to download it from the web. I go today to search for it and it is there in the play store. Strange.

So use the real Play Store and return your density to stock.

But after using the phone at 241dpi I could never go back to 320dpi.. it just looks so bad
Weirdly if I temporarily change dpi to 320 and then use the stock store.. apps still don't appear. Using the spoof store is the only thing that seems to work

... then you just have to deal with it? lol. I don't understand the complaint. You know how to fix the problem, but you refuse to do so, so then you have to deal with the spoof store. There ya go.

So I went to install Draw Something Free, to see what the hype is all about, and get told that the app isn't compatible with my i9250/AOKP M3.
Upon further investigation, most free games are listed as incompatible - including Fruit Ninja Free, even though i have the paid version already installed.
Any ideas? Anyone else having this problem?
Try wiping the cache and data for Google play store from settings-> applications-> manage apps and then locate play store. If that doesn't work, try wiping cache from cwm and fixing permissions. That should solve your issue

Yip I have the same problem . Bought the xda premium running on my phone changed roms now I'm back on my old rom and its telling me its incompatible with my device . Google just broke there market

How many of you with incompatible apps issues are running a different screen density?
I just downloaded Fruit Ninja without issue.

Tried this, didn't work. Ended up ditching MS3 for MS4 (since it came out a couple days ago).

I'm thinking this was the issue. A little late though, as I just wiped and fresh-installed MS4, and now it works.
Interestingly enough, in MS4 (and NOT MS3), Settings -> ROM Control -> General UI -> LCD Density now gives a whole process for dealing with the Market, that includes a section that says "If you ever have compatibility issues with the market, be sure to return here and repeat the process (of changing the density)"
Its weird cause I also get incompatibility even though I'm running stock... some Verizon apps are also incompatible with my phone

Wouldn't personally want to use fruit ninja anyway after the news highlighting the fact they are one of the apps selling contact lists and calendar entries to companies, without our knowledge. Or so it would seem.

What DPI (LCD Density) are you using? If you changed it from the default of 240 that often causes problems with the Market. If you are not running at 240 then you should try this
clear the market data and cache
set the density back to 240 (i.e. edit system/build_prop to have ro.sf.lcd_density=240)
reboot
use the Market to update everything (hopefully it works)
set your density back to what you want
reboot
Another issue could be the country you live in. For example, Google prevents Taiwan users from accessing paid apps. You can solve this by using Market Enabler, but you still need to do be at 240 DPI.
Hey thanks for the reply!
I've looked at my DPI in my build prop, it's already at 240 so I haven't touched that
And I've used market unlocked set it to US,
Its crazy I did everything!!, I forgot to mention that I tried the above techniques already
sorry no avail there
Any other ideas?
It seems just impossible for me??
If you are trying to get an app that Google doesn't want you to have in your country then faking your country won't help if you have to log into your Google account to get it.
The only other thing i can think of is to use another store like SlideMe or AppBrain. I have to use SlideMe to get 4Ext for example.

Seems weird my tones fully rooted, s-off and all, and I can't mod this, there has got to be a way.
Thanks for your help!!

Yes, if a different market redirects you to Google then it won't help. Try SlideMe.org, it seems to be completely separate from Google, but I've only used it for 4Ext so far.
Hey thanks for ur reply, i downloaded the app i want useing chrome and APK Downloader
And guess what the so called "incompatible" app works!!, I just want the convenience of every app on Google play!
Thank you!
So I've read all the post about Verizon Gnex not being able to get Google wallet. Has anyone tried it recently? It first happened when I was rooted I was able to update Google wallet from the market after side loading the application. So I decided to test it, I unrooted my Gnex and went to factory image 4.0.2 and it seems as if I can now download it from the market. Is this happening for anyone else?

Downloading it directly from the play store? No you haven't.
FWIW, I don't see it in the play store though. Although I have it installed anyway.

you can download it from the play store, but you have to go in a round about way. you have to user the browser to find the app, and keep using the browser until you are going to install it and then you pick google play.
thats how i did it and it installed fine on my vzw GN.

Another back door
Found another back door. I regularly use GoLauncher EX, which has it's own store. Through it I have was able to insall/update the app. Oddly, it directs me to the Play Store directly from the GoLauncher EX update notification where I was able to install.
Upon completion, I changed my launcher back to stock, went into the play store, and had to log in (? strange, right?), and was unable to bring it up in search results, and it did not show in the "installed" column of My Apps. It DID however show as installed, under the all apps section. Not sure if I'll be able to use it, or if my phone will self-destruct upon NFC tap. I'll update when I try it out.

I'm pretty sure Wallet is just available in market now for Gnex. At least, I'm able to just search it and install it now. I've done it multiple times over the past few months.
Edit: just checked, and it's NOT showing up in market now for me... but it IS still installed and working. I used it no more than an hour ago at Jack in the Crack.
Maybe Google tampered with it today.
or if you are just looking for it or rooted and need the one that now works and doesn't give UNSUPPORTED device error. I found one last month on here, can't remember where since there are like 6 different ones floating around. I posted my dropbox link so you can grab a working one.
How to install:
1) Use ADB, adb push it to /system/app
2) Use RootExplorer and paste it to /system/app
Google Wallet .apk

Screenshots? (power+volume down)
Off the top of my head, if you flashed a custom ROM, it could be that.
I ran a WW firmware ROM on my US Transformer Prime and certain apps became incompatible.

Changing your DPI can cause compatibility issues. If you haven't changed that, you may wanna try wiping data for play store app in settings.

What is the default DPI? I changed some settings with Rom Toolbox Pro and that may have been one of them. Not sure, though.

OK, I cleared caches, and that seems to have done the trick for MOST of the apps that showed incompatible. Strangely, GMail still shows incompatible, but I can deal with that. I was having autorotation problems and that's fixed now, too.
Thanks to all for your assistance.
I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2. I recently rooted it and installed the latest CM10 nightly. I also have Clockwork Recovery Mod v6 installed.
When I installed CM10, I did a complete wipe, format, etc. I flashed the latest gapps for JB (20121011-signed). I noticed right away that certain apps on the market are now saying "not compatible with your device" (Foursquare, Walmart, Google Goggles, and a few others).
Someone suggested changing my DPI. I switched ro.sf.lcd_density from 240 to 320 (and also tried 160 and 220). Rebooted. Didn't work. Still got the incompatible notice. I really don't think it's a DPI issue anymore. But are there other common DPIs that I should try? What's default for the S2?
I downloaded the Amazon AppStore and it allowed me to "download" these apps, but it would FAIL when it went to "install" them. They wouldn't simply error out during the install with "Application Not Installed" or something generic like that. This makes me think there's some setting on my phone that's wrong, and not necessarily just a problem with the app store.
Any other suggestions? It really seems odd to me that I'd "start from scratch" and get these incompatible notices from Google Play store. Can anyone else install or run these apps?
The incompatible notice is usually dpi-related. Try changing your dpi to 240 (the default) and then clearing the data on the play store. Reboot, open the play store and agree to the prompts. Exit again, and wait ten minutes. That usually clears it up for me.

I appreciate the help, but it didn't seem to work. I did all the steps exactly, and the apps still have incompatible notices.
When you say "Exit again" did you mean simply exit the Google Play store app? After opened the play store, agreed to the prompt, and then hit the home button. Waited 10 minutes and didn't seem to help.
Thanks again. Any other suggestions?

This is how I fix it:
1 - adjust dpi back to 240 (stock for this phone)
2 - In settings/app manager, find Google play store & Google framework services
3 - force stop, wipe data & wipe cache
4 - same for both
5 - now you go to the settings/accounts and you need 2 Google accounts, cause you have to actually remove your main Google account, then re-add it
6 - reboot
If this doesn't fix, then the app is either not compatible with this device or something else is causing the issue..
Good luck!

Hi,
To change your LCD density but avoid apps incompatibility, set your density back to 213.
Now, create a file in /data/local.prop and type in it :
qemu.sf.lcd_density=160
You can change the density to whatever you want, save and reboot
Please press thanks if I helped you
