Out of space - not able to install the apps - resolved! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Today, I flashed rom to fd05 (including modem, kernel) and was reinstalling the Titanium backup. But the installation was not successful because of the 'out of space' error message - "Titanium Backup could not be installed. Free up some space and try again".
I've checked the USB storage space and it still had 9.81GB space available. But the problem was it's including the SDCARD's occupied space upon total used usb storage space. For the SDCARD (external),it's being used about 12.65 GB out of 32GB. When you see the second screenshot, the miscellaneous files size is including the used SDCARD size. But after I unmounted the SDCARD, the size is decreased to 1.29GB.
So, I unmounted SDCARD and tried to install the app again but still got the same error (strange....)
Because of this error, I moved back to Calk's tweaked FD02 rom and it showed the same usage but I was able to install the app.
I'm not sure this would be the stock rom issue on FD05 (or any other previous stock roms) or it's something else.
At least I'm able to install the app on Calk's rom but not in the stock rom.
Does anyone know what makes this kind of difference? If there is any kind of tweak applied to Calk's rom, could someone please share the information with us, so we apply the same thing on FD05 or future roms?
[Update]
I just re-flashed Calk's rom with FD05 Stocked rooted rom again.
At this time, I just reinstalled Titanium backup without uninstalling TB. At this time it worked like a charm. No issues at all.
Last time, I tried to clean install TB on the Go Launcher EX but at this time, just updated TB on default TW launcher.
Quite strange. If anyone has the same issue, first try to update the TB on TW launcher..... Hope this help!

I wonder if this will help..

Linked thread is related to the behavior of USB storage when it's connected to USB cable. So, it's not related to the issue I'm talking about.
Thanks anyway!

to resolve this issue use something like root explorer, nav to data/app and delete titanium.odex file. it might be names a little different but ull find it

As long as I know odex is only for the odexed rom and for system apps. TB only comes with apk. Anyway, thanks for the info.

Usually if an app cannot install (especially a non-game app) due to space issues, the problem is space in /cache or /data/dalvik-cache (ie /data)
The USB storage usually isn't the "space" issue because it is relatively large, but can be an issue if it got remapped to an unexpected location.

Thanks sfhub for your response.
Because of the space issue, as long as I remember, I cleaned cache & dalvik cache from the boot recovery. But the result was same....
I believe there's some difference between Calk's tweaked FD02 and Stocked rooted FD05.
He said that "Moved dalvik-cache to cache partition(if it runs low on space, it will move back to Data partition)" on his FD02 thread.
Not sure, this tweak could cause a problem....

Had a problem with another app which had administrator permissions. After I uninstalled it, couldn't re-install again - .
Searched all over for solutions but kept coming to these similar threads about "going to data/app". Went there but it the app in question just wasn't there - therefore nothing to delete.
The more fool-proof, automated way to solve the problem (irregardless of app causing the problem) is to download Lucky Patcher. Under Toolbox>Remove fixes and backups (insufficient storage available) ==> it will automatically remove unused odex files. Works perfectly thereafter.

Had the exact same problem. Use a file explorer with root access. Go to data/app and find the odex file - com.keramidas.titanium.odex (or something like that). Delete that file and you should be good to go.

To fix it, you need to remove the patch installed by Lucky Patcher.
Open Lucky Patcher. Press menu button and hit Troubleshooting, then Uninstall Patches.
This will remove all patches that were installed by Lucky Patcher for all apps.
Now, install Titanium Backup.
Note that you have to reapply patches for all apps you had previously patched.
another way to solve your problem in a rooted phone is using the program root explorer to clean the dalvik cache and cache folders, reboot and it shoud be able to install tb

[MOD]Phantom's Build.prop Tweaks

Taking this down for now, I have a rom coming out tonight
Hey all, some of you may know me from other sammy forums. I currently don't have a galaxy s iii yet, so am limited to what I can do in terms of development at the moment, but would like to release some build prop tweaks for you guys to get things running a little smoother.
The build.prop is attached at the bottom, just unzip and adb push to /system or place it there using root explorer and change permissions to match the existing file.. Enjoy, I will have more to come soon
For the latest lf9 Update.

Out of memory...Say wha!?

I just tried to install an APK from Root Browser and it says there isnt enough memory yet in my apps settings it says i have 1.8 GB left..
I have the exact same issue, I have like this:
==============================
System storage: 1.97 GB Free
USB Storage : 11.25 GB Free
SD Card : 29.81 GB Free
==============================
I'm on Stock ICS 4.0.3, rooted and debloated.
Can it be that one of the "bloatware" that I deleted can make apps misread the free space info?

@OP Have you tryed wiping cache/Fixing permissions?
Side note, try a different app (astro, root explorer, myfiles, etc, & ensure 'unknown sources' is checked in security options,
Keep in mind, even root applicagions, if not running in elevated mode, can't even read /data typically make sure if its a root installer (most probable method is copyin to /data)
Ensure root mode is on, if not, that might simply be your issue..
I always have around 350 MB of Ram,
The odd thing is that today I was able to install any app I wanted, without any problems.
I didn't even reboot since yesterday. I have no idea what is different from 12 hours ago.
Thanks for all your help.

Okay lots of replies to reply to but..
No it was talking about storage space, cause it had a radio button to "manage applications" on the error window. not about RAM
Yes i wiped all caches and fixed permissions.
Yes i used lucky patcher (i believe this is where the issue was)
But i solved it,
I began just randomly browsing my data partition using root explorer, and i found a .odex file ( i believe generated by lucky patcher) and after i deleted that file, everything is working again
If it's not to much trouble, can you tell us the name of the file and where exactly is it?
Thanks

Not sure I can be of much more help if you're on a deodexed ROM already. I've stuck with rooted/de-bloated stock for the time being. Wiping the caches solved it for me, aside from the first boot after the cache wipe, of course, but I'm still fully odexed aside from that one file I deleted.

So it looks like I need to modify the zip install to remove the .odex file.
Makes sense since de-odexing turns the .odex into a classes file inside the apk, which is then edited. I'll edit the zip today to remove to .odex file.

[Q] {Q}Not able to full wipe

Hey, guys. I'm looking for some help here. I've been having some trouble with a few recent ROMs. I try to do a full wipe and do a fresh install of the new ROM, but I get an error saying something about being unable to read the lost + found file. I don't actually know where the file even comes from to begin with.
