Right now, the only workaround is to use GoSMS.
Sent while hanging with that really hoopy frood Ford Prefect.

I was able to delete telephony.db in the folder /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/database to get my MMS working. Since then, my MMS has been running flawlessly.

What's wrong with it. Mine worked out of the box without any tinkering from me.

I deleted telephony.db then rebooted. MMS works in both directions.
I don't even know if it worked before I deleted that file.

For some people MMS's sometimes just won't go through, and keep showing that they're sending.
Handcent and GO SMS worked for me.

I deleted the telephony.db but it doesn't do anything even after reboot.. Is it maybe because I'm on 3g?

My MMS was working fine for about 24 hrs. after installing CM9A2, then just stopped sending. I deleted the telephony.db file, cleared the data for the Messaging app, and rebooted. After that, I could send and receive MMS over both 3G and wireless. Try clearing the data for Messaging, reboot, and try again.

Thanks everyone for the help

Is the telephony.db file supposed to remain deleted after a reboot? I've tried the whole process four times and it keeps coming back and mms still doesn't work.

I can confirm this works also on other phones - my Desire Z had also this issue.
What I also had to do was to clean cache from sms application and now it works! Thanks!

Open you dialer and type in this code ##3282##
It may not work but if it does hit veiw mode and go in there and look at all your settings. Go in advanced and look for mms server and type in

If you can't get in there we will try something else

Wierd messaging fc

First off...URRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHH.
Now, to the problem. Everytime I opened the messaging app and tried to create a new message, its fc. I then wiped data in cwm and titanium restored all of my apps. No system data. It still fc'd. I was on eh06...so I updated to urban vendetta and it was ok for a little while. Now its happening again. Any ideas how I can fix this?

That's what I was wondering as well. Also an easy fix is to push another mms.apk. it is a quick fix if you can't clear it up

So ... a while back I had som probs with ms crashing. Found a tip from smart guy that said to terminalemulator to some location in filesystem and delete a file... my recollection was something like mms.db ... and when phone restarted or ms restsrted it would rebuild the file. It prob corruption in the mms database file locally. Search for that and do it... wrked like a charm ... g.

On eh06 I was running honeycomb theme...and on urban vendetta whatever comes with it. See, I have tired a different mms.apk. stock and RandomKing's themed one's. No dice.

I would still rather the stock work...I've used handcent and GOsms and there's just to many settings. But I installed handcent and it works. Then everytime I got a message the stock messaging app force closed...so I deleted it out of /system/app and everythings good. I'm not sure if pic mail works, though. I tried sending myself one and never got it.

MMS over WiFi Calling

Hi,
I am running ICS 4.0.4...using stock messaging or Go SMS.
Is there any way to fix the MMS over WiFi calling issue? It's awful. Even though group SMS works within Go SMS, it fails if I'm on WiFi calling, and my friends hate using GroupMe. Are there any APN settings I can change? a different MMS.apk app I can use?
I am rooted FYI.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Craig
Try Samsung's fix. Turn Wi-Fi on. Open gmail and send an email to yourself and attach a pic using the acct registered to for your phone. Once you get that, try sending an mms to yourself. You should get it fairly quickly.

Yes it's a permanent fix. 2nd level tech support at tmo told me about this a few months ago and its worked for me and my wife's phone several times when I've flashed a new Rom that mms over Wi-Fi hasn't worked.

I believe the issue with GOSMS themselves been testing out MMS over wifi, so far i found it works fine with the stock MMS app and Handcent SMS. Going to try some other apps and see if they work.
Seems i may go back to HandcentSMS until GOSMS fixes it.

Thats because it doesnt work. Thats why these devs made it work with the stock DEODEX version or any other custom roms.. I want to see a video from the person that has "achieve" this. Because all I get is when on WIFI, and I send a MMS, 4G comes on real quick to send it and receive it then it switches off.

Im the one who originally posted the Samsung fix several months ago. I have used it after MMS over wifi not working on several ROMS after initial flash, including my current ROM Beastmade (odexed).
Here is your requested video. I sent an MMS to myself, and you can see 4G never turns on. Only wifi uploads/downloads.
Here you go!
MMS only works over data! If on wifi calling it will switch over to data to send and if data is off it will not send.

[Q] Can't send picture MMS issue

Hey guys, i hate to start a thread for this but i have looked around and tried a couple of things but I cannot seem to find why I can't send MMS pictures, although i am able to receive them. Running the latest CleanRom i tested on GO SMS and regular message app with only a loading but never sends.
I checked APN (see below) for Telus, Data turned on, tested some features in the messaging app's settings.
apn name=Telus SP
mcc=302
mnc=220
apn=sp.telus.com
user=null
server=null
password=null
proxy=74.49.0.18
port=80
mmsproxy=74.49.0.18
mmsport=80
mmsprotocol=null
mmsc=http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mmsc
type=null
Any ideas would be gladly appreciated :highfive:
I only have experience with Handcent and when I have issues with mms I have to go to a setting in Handcent that makes it my default sms program for mms and sms before it functions properly. I have also had to uninstall and reinstall Handcent to get it to work right. I have not had any issues with cleanrom and Handcent yet, though
It must be a tweak somewhere because i did my friends with same ROM (although on Rogers) and it works flawlessly for him

Of I'm not mistaken I read some where about cleaning out your msg app. Because it brings over bad data. So that's what stop's it from working! I would try to go to app it self clear data. Reboot to recovery. Wipe both cache/dalvik cache. Reboot and c if you can send mms again. I was having a small issue like that b4. And clearing the old data out helped it. Just my 2 cents

[Solved] MMS Receiving Not working (Tried APN restore)

I flashed my phone with a new Rom for the first time today, but now my MMS isn't working.
I tried restoring APN as stated in multiple other threads and finally got an MMS to send, however I still can't receive MMS messages.
Any ideas?

Download GO SMS. That should work fine. I don't even think you have to use the Go SMS app after the first mms you send. Just don't uninstall it. Try that.
