How to prevent my Arc of becoming slow

Hello everyone.
I used my phone for round about 2 month. At the end my Arc was unbelievable slow. I was one step away to resell my phone.

Finally I wiped my phone. Now its very fast and makes a lot of fun again. The wiping, reinstallation and configuration process tooked me almost 4 hours work of my hard earned weekend time. I am not very keen to this process again.
As far as I know a complete backup of my phone is only possible with root rights. I am using firmware 2.3.3. Rooting this firmware is complicated and I am loosing the OTA feature for upcoming updates.
So want I want ot ask is: "How do you keep your Arc fast?"

Restart it from time to time and install SuperCharger V6 and choose option 6 (balanced 3)

Supercharger needs a rooted phone. And as far as Im aware Supercharger is a memory optimisation tool. It makes your phone faster. But does it prevent your phone of becoming slower?

It makes it faster and manages RAM better, so it will stay fast. Not one user reported slowdowns with that script applied.

OK that means:. The past caused slowness of my Arc due to the constant installation and reinstallation would not be happend if I had installed Supercharger?

does that mean i need to wipe my arc everytime it get slower?
do i need unlocked bl to apply supercharge v6?

Lack of ram dosent make the phone slow imo, android is more than capable of its own memory management. Phones become slow when the cpu is heavly taxed, try overclocking or installing less applications.

Yehh, i tried searching..i stumble upon insstalling within XDA. One of them said i needed M7 ?
i thought i could just apply the script...with out the CM7... i guess i was wrong

Launcher redraws etc make a phone slow imo.
That's because the RAM doesn't get managed well enough sometimes, but when it happens, it sucks.
SuperCharger fixes that plus speeds up the phone in general.

If I am not terribly mistaking, you can root your phone without unlocking the bootloader, means without loosing OTA. Look here You just need to follow step by step instructions. If you are not absolutely new to android, it is also fairly easy.

Yeah In the meantime i also figured out that i will not loose the OTA feature. Anyway i would loose my current Data and settings and i would need to reinstall and configure everything. Now i have the same Problems with my phone that i have with my pc. And to be honest im quiete sceptical that this Tool solves my problem

Look in my signature.
Note: You need rooted phone, but BL unlocking isn't necessary at all.

[Q] Help please. No gamepad or camera after CM7

Hey guys, so I just installed Cm7 on my r800x play, it was a pain, but I finally got it. Everything on there seems to be working fine except the gamepad and camera. All of the Xperia Play Optimized apps that I have won't work with the gamepad. The arrows still work but those work in any game. The camera also doesn't work but I was told there was some patch to fix that. Does anyone know how to fix the gamepad? I can probably get the camera myself.

6ghz :| ? You could possibly fry your phone in less than a second haa!
I wouldnt advice you to go past 1.5Ghz

Yea sorry about that I did mean 1.6 lol. But now I went back to the stock rom and Im using DoomLord's 2ghz kernel. Is that safe?

It's not safe, you'll end up getting your phone. 1.6 is probably the best threshold.

GSM conection completly dead. On every ROM.

I dont wanna keep spamming Doomlords kernel Thread so i created a new one here.
The thing is that after flashing Doomkernel v11 (maybe the is not the reson) my gsm conection is completly broken. No calls, No SMS, No Data.
I tried flashing kernel v10, full wipe, flashing with flashtool fw .368, .42, .62.
Nothing of that changes anything.
please help me!

yes, but only up to 1.2 ghz but the new doomkernel wich maybe coused this has also gpu overclock. Could it be the reson?

Have you tried the repair tool in SE PC Companion (or is it SEUS?). I haven't used it since I had an x10 mini pro, but I remember it could solve all sorts of problems. Could be worth investigating

Hmm i have to lock my bootloader for that. Okay i will give it a try.

Tried it multiply times. Changed nothing.

First, don't worry! My friend had the same problems with radio in his Arc S...
This thing worked for him - It may sound stupid but turn off your phone, pull the battery and put your phone in some cool and safe place and don't use it for some time, a week or two.
At his case after about 12 days everything went back to normal and I don't f*cking know why

Hey Bro, feel bad for you
I remember it happened to me when I did something stupid with v10. And have no radio after that.
Don't know if this will work for you but what I did was flashed .42 first then it had signal and flashed .62 again and everything is okay now.

Have you tried flashing back to stock kernel?

Stock kernel is being flashed whenever you flash stock ROM.
Try writing to alejandrissimo, he had some fixes for broken radio.

jep i contacet him, he said he can fix it but it coasts 24 dollar, i did not really understand why. But thats still much cheaper than if i send it to sony and they void my warrenty.... but i sended it to sony two month ago becouse of broken flexcable and that was completly free... hard decision...

This radio repair is paid because of setool credits that are needed to be used in order to repair your device using this software.
But you have warranty, 24$ is not much and if radio repair work for you, you will still have warranty in case of serious damage.

Alejandrissimo really did it!! I paid him 20€, a bit more than he wanted and than he did it. Now it just works, i could not be happier.

So ive been using this app called system tuner pro to set up my phone to power save mood and its been almost 2 days without charging my phone!

I use my phone all the time!
Internet, music, call, text, and more....
I just have my phone tu run slow and it would not use that much battery... Try it and you will see

Just a heads up... when running the powersave governor, you're forcing your CPU tonrun at the minimum. So in fact your CPU doesn't run above 384mhz. I am sure that its pretty laggy. Also the device itself will force cpu1 offline when not needed.

You can try the DW ROM. I have a really good battery life.
One small note. I leave my GPS on all the time but in the stat it only shows when I actually was using some navigation apps.

I just got tired of switching moods. So decided to leave it normal.
Now Im running a darkside ROM.
Its really smooth and anyways Ive never had a problem with my battery I just wanted to see something.....
And you know like always there are some annoying ppl with no life commenting **** cuz they don't have nothing else to do....

Based on what I have learned from reading and personal experiences, I would say that there is no "one-size-fit-all" for the best way to save battery. My wife and I have the same devices (T989), and I have both of theme tweaked different; different roms, kernels, etc.
Even though these devices are "identical", the set up I have on my device saves me lots of batter; I can go anywhere between 18 to 48 hours depending on usage and other factors. Same set up on my wife's phone wasn't as effective. However, the way I have her phone teaked, works best for her but not for me.
I would say that it really all depends on how you use your phone, settings, tweaks, widgets, sync, etc.

Please everyone enough with negativity! In my opinion using profiles for ocing and ucing in addition to juice defender is the way to go
I use OC/UV Beater on BM 5.1 ROM.

Ok so, I already own an Xperia Play R800x with Verizon Wireless. So I know what I'm in for.
Here's the story, about 2 months ago a local pawn shop had a Brand New Xperia Play 4G (AT&T) for $199.
So before I could buy it some other guy picked it up and got an extended warranty. BUT TODAY, the guy brought it back to the pawn shop, there is now a $49 price tag on it... sounds good right, here's the concern.
The guy told me he brought in the phone and said the phone randomly turns off, sometimes in 5 minutes, sometimes in 30...it just randomly turns off. I did not check if he had any custom roms on anything like that installed so assume it's stock.
So here's the question, what do you think is wrong with it? I myself have 2 theories, A: the battery is faulty. or B: the charging cord is inferior or not of the proper voltage....
What do y'all think??

Everything need to be confirm with a device on hand & after a fresh flash of stock ftf. Obviously it sounded like software matter. Mybe he messed up systems file or download/install somethings that is not compatible with Play. Ie, "warez". So like i said above, "Every problem(s) need to be confirm after a fresh flash of stock ftf".
So if u think its a good deal then just get it. Then figure out "how-to" fix it. This is what "xda" all about. So...

Yep, dont think its a hardware problem. If it was, It wouldnt happen, then stop then happen again. Thats just weird.
He probably installed too much apps or hacked it or somethin like that.
Ask the person if he dropped it or somethin.

I can try but I doubt he'd tell me if he dropped it lol.
From little research I've discovered when the cpu gets too hot the phone reboots....so perhaps he has something running in the background that triggers his phone to randomly goes off according to what apps and things he may be running?
Just based on what it sounds like I'd say it's a software issue but I also want people thoughts & input.

Now I have an R800AT (GSM) & an R800X (CDMA), one in stealth blue, one in black. I'm a video game collector so I'm really diggin having 2 plays. By any chance do you know if the GSM versions have ROMs that work with locked bootloaders? I plan on getting my GSM unlocked but 1st I'm going to buy a case and a few other things.

Wow that's already more than the R800X WITH unlocked bootloader...... I may just flash it with Cola rom like I did my R800X, with 330mb internal memory& 290-250mb free ram it seems to be the best choice for gaming in my opinion.

Cola rom?
Not the most popular for r800i but still its ure choice
