Hey guys,
got an DHD, love it but hate the notification lights, only blinks orange and green.
so, one x same problem or it offers other colors??
thanks
You're in for a massive disappointment, as I was when I found out. It has a BI-COLOUR LED.... meaning only TWO colours, red and green. I thought the DHD was bad, I own it too, but only two colours made me facepalm. It was so useful on my G1 and Milestone with all those colours. :/ Not what you want to hear but it answers your question.

Hello, my wife and I recently bought a Desire each and while my screen is quite a bit pink compared to hers (I'm getting it swapped), my wife's is, when put next to mine, quite faded. The dark is not so dark and the colours generally don't pop as much. She has used the phone a couple weeks longer than I but guess that's of no concern.
Is this due to an error on her device, or is it due to mine being faulty?
Any opinions?
Thanks a lot!
I don't know but I've read on several sites that the main problem with AMOLED displays are the longevity... So maybe these will look faded and lose saturation very fast?? But 2 weeks seems a bit short?? Maybe after a few months it will look terrible I'm not sure.
She has been using a very white background and I was thinking maybe it had something to do with it, as in burning the image, but I'll just notify HTC and see what they say. Thanks anyway =)
I find it really surprising that they have done it once again - released a device with a full RGB LED,but without any support for it in the software by default. Pretty much like my old Nexus One, the Galaxy Nexus can only blink in white for me. Has anybody found a way to use all colours of the LED for different notifications?
Tweet deck for blinks a yellowish hue, although i did download led tester from the market to make it was working and can display all the colours i can throw at it. I don't think you can set custom colours though I am sure a rom will be baked soon with that option though.
Try Blink: https://market.android.com/details?id=imoblife.blink&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImltb2JsaWZlLmJsaW5rIl0.
This worked well on my Nexus One.
Blink does not work, but application called Light Flow works just fine.
Blink does not work unfortunately.
I've had Blue and Green notifications plus the standard white so far - would be nice to be fully customisable as standard though.

Cool. Glad you could find one that works!
I'll remember light flow for when I can get my hands on one here in the US.
when mine blinks white it looks more like a mix of colours rather than all white, like green at the bottom, abit of red in the middle and like a purple colour towards the top. is this just mine or is everyones like this?

mine is as well, lets hope this is normal
Light Flow is free and works really well. Lets you customize notification colours, sounds, duration etc from within the app... and it doesn't require root.

You sure, it asked me for root when I had it, and I believe it was stated in it's description too, even though it adds itself to the accessibilities.
Surprisingly it works fine without changing anything other than the colors wanted
no root required

ye I understand that I've experienced RGB LED's before but not with such bad colour bleed through so I was just checking it wasn't my device that was at fault

It only works while the program is running or "minimized". If you close it in task switcher it stops working.
Thanks for that, seems to work perfectly.

I have noticed the same colour bleed and it has a very very slight flicker as the light pulses too.
I'm glad this isn't a fault, though I would feel better if other people who read this could just confirm their Galaxy Nexus does the same thing??
I can see the three distinct colours, yeah. It's almost like they have separate R, G and B LED's on the circuit board really close together instead of one RGB one. If you get my drift. Doesn't bother me though.

Thanks for the reassurance buddy!
I've had two GN's. I swear my first one had a pure white LED notification light. This new one is prismatic. Red, blue, white. It's a whole bunch of colors melded together.
Does anyone else have the same or and I going color blind?
It's an RGB LED. Just like a white pixel, the white LED is made up of full-intensity red, green, and blue LEDs. That's what you're seeing is the individual LEDs.

I understand that. What I'm saying is one my first one, when the notification light was engaged, it was pure white. On this unit it's prismatic.
Am I going color blind? Is my unit defective? Should I be concerned? Or should I shut my giant pie hole?

Yeah, I think the "rainbow" effect is the norm. Not sure how your other one didn't do it. Maybe it was an earlier batch that had a different LED, but that seems unlikely (mine was pretty early too, I was one the first to get a retail one from P4U...)

My first was one from the early Expansys shipments. This one came yesterday. Whew! Thanks guys, really started to freak me out.

Also I should note that mine is prismatic when I look at it, but when I "notice" the notification it looks pure white because I'm not focused on it. Maybe it didn't strike you as an oddity before so you didn't really focus on the color too much (I didn't really until I read this thread and then realized "oh yeah, it is multi-colored")?

LOL, it's because humans are color blind in peripheral vision
---------- Post added at 02:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:22 PM ----------
btw, mine does the same thing, sometimes it's white, sometimes it's the rainbow
can't put my finger on when and why different colors occur though...
Mine is white all the time. Uh oh, I got this one from the first batch off of Expansys USA.
You've probably already done this but you could use Light Flow to test it
Indeed, I tried Light FLow to no avail...

Dude, thanks for posting. I'm not completely crazy!
Mine is white when I receive a call, and yellow-esh for all other notifications
I noticed this the following day of receiving my phone (Nov.26= first batch)
The affected colors are: (White, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Cyan, Magenta) while I don't find any problem with Red, Green, Blue. Of course that is because it is an RGB LED.
I'm using LED Color Tester
p.s. It is funny because an hour ago, I was checking youtube to compare my LED with the ones in the few videos demonstrating this feature.
Thanks for posting and sharing your concern (I'm lazy @ posting)
Is it just me, or do the backlights have a very noticeable blue tinge? For a screen with such excellent whites, the lights directly below the screen contrast greatly. Has anyone else noticed this?
yep - think it's meant to be like that.

Hey man, do a search and you'll see that I asked the same question a couple weeks ago Apparently they're meant to be like that! Odd if you ask me, but who cares when we have this gorgeous display?!
I actually like the light blue tinge. Pure white softkeys are so 2010.
Hi, I have a Problem with Red Colour on my Gnex.
When I use Vodoo colour test patterns, When I switch to Red I have stripes int the red field. This only happens with Red color.
I never noticed that before, can be that this was there since i have this device (since release) or it is there since a few weeks.
Can somebody check if this is normal or if my device has a problem with display!?
I'm on Jelly bean already tried different kernels, also with color improvement. seems to be also with stock!
When I make a screenshot, and have a look on it on a normal PC screen, then the Red color is completely ok.
So iassume that something with my Gnex screen is wrong. Would be nice If somebody can give me feedback!
Are your stripes horizon all over the screen? Yes I have this too. They began at the top and spread down over the first month of usage. I think its normal for this phone.
---- moved, wrong forum, sorry------
Yes, they are horizon. But red is the only color where this happens, all other colors are without stripes.
Looking a little stupid in some apps licke kicker for example!
Anyone else experiencing theese problems?
I only would liekt to figure out if this is normal or if it is a defect!
I also have this issue, it happens in all colors but more obvious in red.its annoying as **** when you start noticing it.when i record videos its really obvious in dim light. Im just glad im not the only one.:/

I have also noticed this sh** , but my brother nexus does not have the same problem
any one knows why ?
My guess it's a side effect of the pentile matrix. AMOLED screens have a significantly lower life span than your traditional LCD screen and does degrade with time. This is also noticed in how the color balance gets very off with time (and does pretty dramatic changes over just the span of 1 month!), usually colors meant to be neutral looks very ugly green-tinted.
As for my screen? I noticed it in all the primary colors. Red was for sure had most visible "banding" but when I looked closely I noticed it as well in the green and blue as well (green being the least visible).
My Gnex is a year and a few months old as I've had it since February last year.
same thing happened to my screen in about 1_2 weeks when I got my phone. All colors were affected, but red is the most obvious. Pentile is ****

But why my brother's nexus is still ok ? although he bought his nexus before me ?
So are you saying that any pentile screen would face this ?

Do you really need someone to point out that not all screens are made equal? If it drives you to distraction, root and install Trinity Kernel or Franco's Kernel (which has Trinity's Contrast) they have a plethora of colour options.
I run a very icy-white colour on my Nexus.
