i received my new htc one x on o2 network yesterday, after years of been a die hard symbian fan i have made the move to android now,
im having trouble booting the device into bootloader mode, i am pressing the down volume holding it in and pressing the power button, but the device boots as normal.
i want to get the device routed as there are a few apps i want that dont work as it stands
Have you turned off Fast boot (Settings > Power)? While that's turned on your phone doesn't fully power off, just hibernates, and it needs to be fully off to boot into the bootloader.
have now ad guess what it works ill try follow the instructions see it i get stuckagain
sorted thanks bootloader unlocked

I have done ANYTHING to my M8 I have it rooted and S-ON. I turned off the phone to get into bootloader to check something. I do volume button home at start and the phone is VERY SLOW to open bootloader and finally when it gets there I can only choose fastboot my volume buttons dont work. It does hboot VERY SLOW and it keeps trying to find an image when checking sd card. PLEASE HELP !
This had happened after I went through Sunshine tests. I did not do S-OFF.
Trying RUU right now to see if it will work .
RUU didn't work phone still won't boot please help!
Hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds. The device should power off. Once off, press the power button to turn it back on and see if it boots.
not to be a negative spirit here but first you start threads with :
cant update phone
help no OS !
and now this. Couldn't this be the time maybe to really carefully check if there aren't any user errors been made ?
Hi
Could some one tell me why i cant get in recovery or factory mode with hardware buttons, i am on stock 10d with twrp recovery installed and rooted wirh super su through twrp. I installed twrp through adb with normal command and device works just fine through reboot apps from os, boots in recovery, fastboot etc just fine, same through adb commands.
But there's no hardware combo or anyrhing working when trying to enter recovery or factory reset working at all?
Tryied every combo i could find saying how to from internet.
It just boot up in os as usual.
And phone dosen't reset while holding power button for 10s + either
It's a bit scary because bootloop is going to come eventually for sure and then there's no rescuing avalible
Could someone plz tell me whats going on?
Im new to g4 so, some help would be nice.
Thanks in advace
It's a bit tricky, to be honest.
• Power off your phone
• Hold "Volume-Down" and keep your "Power-Button" pressed. So you should keep both pressed, until the 1st LG logo appears
• Now just leave the "Power-Button" for ~1 second whilst kept the "Volume-Down" button still pressed, press now the "Power-Button" again and keep holding it
You're now forced to deal with the standard-ui from LG. Go to "Yes" and again "Yes". TWRP now boots and you should be fine .
Edit: Just my tiny story... I watched several videos and also had a nasty bootloop. I was afraid, I now bricked my phone. But a nice user showed me this way and this was the only way, I got my phone recovered.
The phone belongs to my GF so I'm not aware of any apps that may have been installed that could cause this issue, but she generally sticks with things from the Play store, unless I give her an apk.
I'll try to be as descriptive as I can, but since it's not my phone I may not be entirely aware of some of the more technical aspects since I can't boot it up.
Phone basics
Model: Xperia ZL (C6506)
Bootloader: Locked...AFAIK anyway - phone belonged to my sister who is not tech savvy and gave it used to my GF when her Moto Droid RAZR XT910 (which was my old phone) broke.
Rooted: No (AFAIK, same reason as above)
SIM/carrier unlocked: Yes (I did this at least 3 months ago)
Carrier: Rogers Canada
Plan: PayGo (if that matters)
Here's the story:
A couple of weeks ago she decided to do a factory reset because the phone seemed like it was getting bogged down. After that, her data connection wasn't working, so she contacted Rogers who apparently sent a refresh signal. That didn't work, so she contacted them again last week and they sent another refresh. That still didn't work so she called again this past Monday (Feb 15) and they walked her through resetting the APN; because the phone was unlocked, it didn't automatically pick up Rogers' APN settings, even with her SIM inserted.
However, a mere 2 hours after she was walked through the APN settings, her phone began a boot loop. Every time it boots up it goes through the splash screen then "Android is optimizing apps" then it sometimes gets to the home screen, freezes/hangs, and reboots. It will do the boot sequence running on battery, so I don't think that's the issue.
Bootloader is locked and phone is not rooted and there is no custom recovery (i.e. TWRP) but I was under the distinct impression that Android has a built-in recovery module anyway so I've Googled and tried every possible combination I have known and found to try to boot into it:
Shut off phone, hold Vol- & Power to boot up
Shut off phone, hold Vol- & Vol+ & Power to boot
Shut off phone, hold Vol- & Home button (not hardware, softkey so I hold where it would be) & Power to boot up
Shut off phone, hold Vol- & Vol+ Home button & Power to boot up
Shut off phone, hold Vol+ & Home button & Power to boot up
Turn on phone, wait for pink (or other colour) LED to turn on then hold Vol- (no LED comes on at beginning of boot as far as I can tell)
None of the above methods have given me access to a recovery menu. I've downloaded the Sony Flashtool (Emma) in order to try to flash a stock ROM/firmware but it seems that I can't use it without a registered account and account registration appears to be manually approved by Sony (I'm thinking they limit it to authorized retailers and repair shops?) so that seems to be a dead end.
I downloaded the PC Companion and was able to get it to recognize the phone and perform a repair/update (by holding the flash key, Vol-, and plugging it in while the updater was running, as it instructs to do).
I've done the repair/update twice now. Each time it says it succeeds (update to 10.something, sorry can't recall specifically), then when I boot up the "new phone setup" starts but hangs/freezes and the boot loop starts all over again.
I'm out of ideas...please help!
I have issue with my HTC 10 was wondering if anybody has any information or is having similar issues;
My Verizon-Branded, Bootloader-Locked, Stock, Un-Rooted, S-ON soft bricked itself...Boggles my mind a bit, a softbrick that rebricks itself before you can boot to any menu that would allow you to fix it.
During normal use the phone shut off and stayed off. I attempted a reboot, but it would stop at the HTC splash screen every time. I can get to the rainbow menu by VOL DOWN+ POWER until nav keys flash 10 times then quickly pressing VOL UP+VOL DOWN + POWER before screen goes fully lit and HTC Logo pops up. At this "rainbow menu" I think its the stock recovery for the phone it lists S-ON, Locked, then options;
Power Down
Reboot Bootloader Mode
Recovery Mode
Download Mode
Reboot
I've tried every option but they all end up in my phone hanging at the HTC Screen and stays there until the battery is drained. I've tried different Micro SDs, letting the phone's battery go to 0%, charging, rebooting while plugged in, ect.
Anyone have any idea or experience similar issues? I know this is a verizon model phone, but I thought I'd have a better chance getting answers if posting here.
Brought it in to Verizon, they couldn't get any recovery mode bootloader mode to work either. Verizon rep talkedt to HTC and they are sending me a new phone. I was curious if anyone else has heard of this issue on the Unrooted, Locked, S-ON, HTC 10.

If you get into Fastboot (white screen withe the options), you should be able to run the RUU with the phone connected to a computer, which will wipe the phone, but will also make it usable again, via the least technical way possible.
You should be able find the Correct RUU for your carrier or unlocked device from HTC's website here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/updates.aspx

RUU's are run via download mode, not from the bootloader menu, as you have described.

hi I have tried to ruu but as phones stuck in loop it wont charge over 30% sadly
Have you tried the volume down+Power Button method to get in recovery and reset to factory setting option? If you do this, all your data will be erased, just a fair warning. Hold volume down+Power button for 15-20 seconds, screen will go black and as soon as HTC logo appear, let the power button go while keeping the volume down pressed. Good luck!

I am having the same issue....You cannot get into recovery or download mode, it loops too. All you can do is to get into the bootloader.
