I bought it yesterday in an australian local store and after playing it for 5 mins the screen start flashing whenever i touch it, i tried to turn it off and on again but problem still exist, so i shot a video to let you guys see whats happening. Kinda disappointed about HTC...
i am new to xda so the forum not allow me to put a youtube link here, please search "htc one x horrible screen flashing problem" on youtube and you will see my video.
I think you better go to the shop and let them exchange this device..looks horrific. Seems that you got big issues with the gpu.

Hi, Since I didn't get 4.0.2 update I decided to unlock the bl and manually flash the update from google on my brand new GN.
Once unlocked and booted with factory reset.. got a pop up for 4.0.2 update.
After the ota update I found that when I'm opening some apps like picture galary, market etc a red border flashing around the application and going away. Its replicable when I enable/disable auto brightness.
Anyone else get this?

Pretty sure he wasn't being a jerk. Seems he was just mentioning how happy he was that search worked for him to find this thread and the answer he was looking for...
i noticed this first when using google maps and I thought they added a red flash on upcoming new turns. I thought that was an amazing addition to turn by turn nav as I hate the voice portion so much I mute it.
alas, I am saddened and now have to decide to rid myself of it.
If you hate the voice just for the way it sounds, I recommend installing INOVA high quality text-to-speech, it sounds so great, and best part is that once you install it, it works for every text-to-speech function on your phone. If you hate the voice for other reasons, then idk...
Hi, there.
I'm on Vodafone in the UK and my new One X displays the message 'Loading' with the moving circle underneath every time I return to the homescreen or come out of a programme (for between 3 and 5 seconds.) I've only had the phone for a day and have arranged to have a replacement delivered on Monday, but I wondered whether anyone else has noticed this? It's obviously a dealbreaker but I can't see any other threads, so am I right to assume I just got a dodgy phone?
(I also have a yellow spot on the bottom left of the screen, so I'm not sorry to be getting a replacement.)
Thanks in advance!
The loading screen happens to almost all the OneX out there but if your planning to unlock bootloader then you can use SuperCharger script or one of the custom ROM which already has it. Otherwise you have to live with it.

Gosh, really? I mean this is just infuriating - every time I exit something, there is a reeeeally long pause before I can do anything else. Does that happen to all the phones? Every review I've read talks about how fast this phone is and I would have thought a three or four second hiatus before a new task can be started would have been mentioned somewhere within the torrent of praise I've read for the One X.
I've just come from a BlackBerry Bold which was much quicker and the iPhone doesn't pause like this - if the new phone has it, I'm going to have to rethink.
Is this something others are also experiencing?

It's been a common problem with Android that's why we have SuperCharger script. You'll be suprised how of them are using that script.
Solved!
I have solved this!
Go to Settings > Developer Options > Scroll down to Don't Keep Activities and UNCHECK it.

Doesnt that disable multi tasking?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I believe so. A quote from Android Developers website.
Immediately destroy activities
Tells the system to destroy an activity as soon as it is stopped (as if Android had to reclaim memory). This is very useful for testing the onSaveInstanceState(Bundle) / onCreate(android.os.Bundle) code path, which would otherwise be difficult to force. Choosing this option will probably reveal a number of problems in your application due to not saving state. For more information about saving an activity's state, see the Activities document.

app problem
For me the activity that restored normal time (instant) when going to the home screen was deleting apps I had installed today. I uninstalled Adidas MI coach app and boom, the loading circle wasn't there any more.

Probably, if you were to check it. The OP has indicated that he got around the problem by unchecking it. In which case there is no effect on multi-tasking. I don't think that is the default setting anyway's, so somehow the setting must have got set on the OP's phone.
Also not sure why it is being said that this loading time is common. It isn't! I have never seen it on my H1X and this would have raised a big concern over usability of the phone....
I have the phone for a month now.......this problem did not appear until recently....how can i disable it
Can you post a pic for us to see?

Hello,
I know I am not a most active member of XDA comunity, but I am lurking here for a while now.
I tried to search across the forum to find help for my problem but couldn't find it.
Here is what happens. At some parts of a menu(app order or blinkfeed themes) letters are not shown the way should be,but I'm only getting some weird artifacts instead.
When I accces setting menu through those artifacts,my setting menu is shown same way,but if I acces it normally, through an app screen(home>settings) letters are shown normally.
Since English is not my native language, and I have trouble to explain and describe what my problem really is,I attached 3 screenshots therefore.
This is an ebay phone,so I don't have a guarantee list what makes xda my first choice in trying to solve a problem.
Thank you in advance
Cheers

Uhm,sorry.I'm on the stock rom,unrooted,JB 4.2.2 and sense 5.
Can you add some screenshots of the software info panel. Settings - about - software ?
Only thing i can think of is to do a factory reset and re-set up the phone

Back to the civilisation...
I tried to turn phone on and off several times but no success at all.I searched all over the internet to find people with similar problem, and have actually find quite a few,but their problem was broken screen, where artifacts were always on the screen, and not only on 2 menus with submenus.Since I haven't been at home,I did most of my search on the phone, and of course,at the evening, battery was almost drained so I put the phone on the charger over the night.Unfortunatelly(or maybe I should say luckily),somehow the connection between phone and the charger was loose, and was interrupted,so till morning, phone was really dead. After connecting it to a charger,it needed couple of minutes only to get a charging light, but after turning the phone on,the artifacts were gone!Everything was as it used to be,
Conclusion:
Where the problem was?I really can't say.
Like I said before,I tried to get rid of those artifacts by switching the phone of and on several times, but it didn't help.
I haven't done a factory reset primarily because I was to lazy to even think about adjusting the phone again, not to mention doing it.
And at some moment, when O was already at peace with those two menus shown with artifacts instead of letters, charger situation happened,Seems that battery draining and recharging it again had some weird connection with artifacts on the screen.
Thanks everybody for,at least, reading my post
Cheers

I took it to customer care yesterday and it was funny that the guy there showed me his note 3 which also have same flickering and they said that it's normal with amoled due to voltage variation at low brightness levels. So I left customer care without replacing display:victory:
Actually I don't want them to teardown my new phone so I thought of changing display after some time if it get more worse

am using latest 4.3 update I think it's problem with Indian INU firmware will be solved by 4.4 soon guess
I did a factory reset yesterday and kept brigtness above half till now I didnt have ny flickering.
I found this on web
There seems to be a
problem where the phone has problems
deciding if the software or hardware(CPU
vs. GPU) is what should be drawing the
screen… So this indecision causes it to
switch back and forth, redraw, etc….
Over at XDA there are lots of post relating
to this problem. Below is a temporary
solution to the problem
Here are the instructions!!
Temp Fix: (until they find/fix the problem)
1. Go to settings > about phone
2. Click “build number” 6 times fast
3. You’ll see “you’re now a developer” as
a notification at the bottom.
4. Go back to settings, you’ll now see
developer options above ‘about phone’.
5. Go in developer options, and click
“disable hardware overlays” under the
drawing section
This will fix the flickering!! The problem is
with android 4.2.x, the OS gets confused
and can’t decide if the CPU or the GPU
should be drawing the screen, so it flickers
do to it switching between the CPU and
GPU real fast…
Hope this helps anyone out there
experiencing this problem, and spread the
word to anyone else you know to make it
known! Loads of people are re flashing,
returning to stock, even returning their
phones because of this bug! So spread the
word to prevent others from making this
mistake.
