Red border blinking around some applications - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi, Since I didn't get 4.0.2 update I decided to unlock the bl and manually flash the update from google on my brand new GN.
Once unlocked and booted with factory reset.. got a pop up for 4.0.2 update.
After the ota update I found that when I'm opening some apps like picture galary, market etc a red border flashing around the application and going away. Its replicable when I enable/disable auto brightness.
Anyone else get this?
Regards

Pretty sure he wasn't being a jerk. Seems he was just mentioning how happy he was that search worked for him to find this thread and the answer he was looking for...

i noticed this first when using google maps and I thought they added a red flash on upcoming new turns. I thought that was an amazing addition to turn by turn nav as I hate the voice portion so much I mute it.
alas, I am saddened and now have to decide to rid myself of it.

If you hate the voice just for the way it sounds, I recommend installing INOVA high quality text-to-speech, it sounds so great, and best part is that once you install it, it works for every text-to-speech function on your phone. If you hate the voice for other reasons, then idk...

* Captured images will now immediately appear in your Gallery enabling quicker dropbox sync
* Other minor bug fixes.
Ever wanted to know who has tried snooping into your phone while you were away. Your friends or family member might have tried to unlock your phone while you are away. HiddenEye is a simple app with no frills that will photograph the person when they try to unlock your phone. You can set it to sound alarm when a user tries to unlock your phone without your knowledge.
Now you can see who is trying to use your phone while you are away. Once you unlock your phone, you will be shown the photographs of the people who tried unlocking your phone in your absence. Sounds interesting ! Try it and let us know if you have any suggestion to improve it further.
Worried that your phone does not have front camera. With HiddenEye, now you can know the someone has tried to snoop into your phone. You can also set alarm if someone is trying to unlock your phone with wrong password. If you have a front camera, then you can see who tried unlocking your phone.

Thanks for pointing it out.. i just learn't that nexus does not allow apps to use its camera.. I will be putting an update soon, which will allow you to install the app on nexus, but no photographs will be taken.. You can only configure HiddenEye to sound alarm or to notify you that someone has tried to unlock the phone. Unfortunately, you will not be able to see their picture ;(

Can you confirm if you have done the following...
1. Security Status = ON
2. Set Pin or Pattern to your lock screen...
3. turn on notification and sound alarm
Once you have done these, then try entering invalid passwords on lockscreen... check if anyone of these are working..
a) taking pictures.
b) hidden eye alert on the notification bar
c) play your default ringtone after 3 failed attempts..
let me know how it goes.. thanks for trying...
Installs fine. Alarm works after failed attempts, but no picture, Shows icon
placeholders. Notification working.

can we delete all the pictures rather then keeping the last 6?
was testing it alot and its always showing the last 6. wanted to clear them out once i got it right.
Please advise
Pictures do not save only shows the placeholder image. After you get this sorted out I have a suggestion for a possible feature. Automatic upload to drop box or to have the picture sent to a specified email. It would be great as a backup if the device was stolen. As we know the Nexus 7 does not have cell service so tracking it when lost would be difficult. That being said most thieves are going to try to unlock it once while still in a hotspot. This would make a great chance to capture their picture.

EDIT: New version with delete option available now...

There is an updated version, please try and let me know how it goes... The captured images are placed in the DCIM folder, so if you have dropbox configured to sync your photos, these captured images will also be synced to your dropbox...

[Q] Lightflow & talkback

I heard the gs3 had a bug when lightflow was enabled that it was also causing talkback to answer "FOLDER OPEN!!!!" and then "FOLDER CLOSED!!!".
This is extremely annoying but I love lightflow to much to uninstall it. Is anyone else having this problem and is there a solution? I read this was an ics bug but I never had any problem with my nexus.
I seemed to run into lightflow and talkback not being able to be on at the same time...even though talkback is off. It says it needs to disable airview for lightflow to work. No go for me. Deleted it.

You'll find details about the issue here as after 6 months of trying different avenues, it seems Samsung may be listening. I got in touch with a few developers who also face the same issue and we all posted to the samsung developers forums. See here: http://developer.samsung.com/forum/...=GeneralB&messageId=204387&messageNumber=2156
As for airview you can just switch it back on after switching on accessibility. It's just another Samsung bug in this area.
Bug still here with last rom DMB6.

Disable Touch Key Backlight on Google Edition

I hope someone can help me out with this (I guess most of my posts arent worth bothering with as they usually go untouched by anyone). I'm trying to figure out a way to disable the touch button backlight on a Google Edition ROM. I have been searching for an answer since the Google Edition hit. All I can ever find is how to disable on GSIII ROMs (non ge). If anyone can please help me out I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Screen Filter is an app that can disable the backlight of the softkeys. Set it to auto-start at boot and you should be good. I know its not a direct fix but its a low impact app that shouldnt effect battery life or operation.

Seems to work for me. Did it dim the screen at all (thats its main function)? Did you see the check box "enable softkey back light" (uncheck it) at the bottom of the app ui?

Yes, it did dim the screen, but if i uncheck the enable softkey back light, anytime I touch the screen the backlights still come on. Are you on a G.E. rom? I am currently on Infamouse G.E.

No im not. I am on AOSP (Slim Bean) though.
There are options to do this in AOKP and CM roms. Anybody know how those builds pull it off?

[Q] Weird artifacts instead of letters?

Hello,
I know I am not a most active member of XDA comunity, but I am lurking here for a while now.
I tried to search across the forum to find help for my problem but couldn't find it.
Here is what happens. At some parts of a menu(app order or blinkfeed themes) letters are not shown the way should be,but I'm only getting some weird artifacts instead.
When I accces setting menu through those artifacts,my setting menu is shown same way,but if I acces it normally, through an app screen(home>settings) letters are shown normally.
Since English is not my native language, and I have trouble to explain and describe what my problem really is,I attached 3 screenshots therefore.
This is an ebay phone,so I don't have a guarantee list what makes xda my first choice in trying to solve a problem.
Thank you in advance
Cheers

Uhm,sorry.I'm on the stock rom,unrooted,JB 4.2.2 and sense 5.
Can you add some screenshots of the software info panel. Settings - about - software ?

Back to the civilisation...
I tried to turn phone on and off several times but no success at all.I searched all over the internet to find people with similar problem, and have actually find quite a few,but their problem was broken screen, where artifacts were always on the screen, and not only on 2 menus with submenus.Since I haven't been at home,I did most of my search on the phone, and of course,at the evening, battery was almost drained so I put the phone on the charger over the night.Unfortunatelly(or maybe I should say luckily),somehow the connection between phone and the charger was loose, and was interrupted,so till morning, phone was really dead. After connecting it to a charger,it needed couple of minutes only to get a charging light, but after turning the phone on,the artifacts were gone!Everything was as it used to be,
Conclusion:
Where the problem was?I really can't say.
Like I said before,I tried to get rid of those artifacts by switching the phone of and on several times, but it didn't help.
I haven't done a factory reset primarily because I was to lazy to even think about adjusting the phone again, not to mention doing it.
And at some moment, when O was already at peace with those two menus shown with artifacts instead of letters, charger situation happened,Seems that battery draining and recharging it again had some weird connection with artifacts on the screen.
Thanks everybody for,at least, reading my post
Cheers

Underline Spelling Errors in Red

I have google keyboard which used to allow red underlining of spelling errors. I am vzw stock unrooted. Since update I cannot get it to work. Is there any special combination of settings that will give me red underlined spelling errors again? I do not want autocorrection. I want red underlining. Example below
Does anybody have this feature working?

I have this problem since i got phone. After updates, everything is same, still no spell checker. I tried many keyboards but i still have that problem. The most of keyboards dont use that feature because usually, phone need to have it.
As i can see, LG doesn't have spell checker, and they try to make it with lg keyboard.
Did you solved this issue?
At attachment you can see that option is selected and text in email.

What's d_j?
I don't know what can be a problem, but its incredible annoying! There are many topics but non of them have answer. Few people complain and everything finish on that.
I read same things on reddit and few more portals. At the end, no one come out with solution or information did they fixed it and how.
My gibberish reply with d-j was me using google voice to text
How and where do you access that additional features menu?
You have settings > Language and input > Lg keyboard . You can find settings on right side. But no metter what you add there, spell checker will not start to work. Maybe is only for me.
