DHD touch lights not functional - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all I have icecoldsandwich v7 every thing works great but the backlight on the home and back touch buttons will not activate.
With the exception of when I manually adjust the brightness of the screen they light up and stay lit up until I lock the phone. When I unlock it the lights are no longer on.
Any ideas????

Touch keys NEVER turn off (even when the phone is off)

My touch keys (soft keys) never turn off. Even when the phone is off. When the screen is on they work as they should, meaning that they do turn off completely after not touching the screen for a while, but as soon as the screen turns off, the buttons turn on, and not full brightness but dim. This happened when i started deleting bloatware, but i have already installed different roms and same problem happens. What can i do? Are there any drivers that i should check for the backlight of these buttons?? PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Do you have a text message everytime you see em light up? You might have BLN on... What kernel u running?

Sorry about that. I already did, but since the developers are always hanging around here i thought i would get luckier.

Check your display settings. There are options for the soft button lights including "always on."
Even when i put the setting for always off, they would stay off when im working on the phone, but i soon as i turn of the screen the touch keys come on and stay on in a very low dim.
is there any piece of code i can flash to force the touch keys to turn off?
This is for development only.not Q&A or any general.mod please move
From a glaxay better than yours.
Has anyone figured this out? Same thing is happening to me and it's annoying.
It's probably your imagination. The brightness from the screen cancels out light (the light that actually is reflecting off the buttons, not coming from the buttons) coming from the buttons when they are "off" as you use the screen and instantly or slowly come into vision as you turn the screen off. When you turn the screen off, there is no light to cancel out the light (sun's rays) coming from the buttons and you can see them. To test, go into a room with no light at all and turn the phone off. If the dim light from buttons are no longer visible, then it was just your imagination.
You dug this out the grave
Me? I just tought I'd put my thoughts and observations out there and help the guy. I didn't dig up any thread if you are talking to me.

Thats how i knew the lights were staying on, cus when i went to sleep i noticed the lights were still on. This is not visible if there's other light sources around you because the buttons light up very dim. You only notice in a completely dark room.
Did you change your settings? If that didnt work, try taking it to a tmo store.

Touch buton issue

Hello to all, I have a strĂ¢nge issue with my Desire hd. Specifically, the light on the touch buttons is on or off as it pleased, without any warning. The vibration is working but the buttons have no ilumination on them sometimes. I am running stock rom Android 2.2.
do you thin is a hardware issue? The phone sas never droped.

Nobody experienced similar problems with his DHD? I flashed an AOSP Rom (oxigen) and my problem isn.t gone. Now I see that when the light of the buttons turned off, the screen gets a little darker. The keys seems to go on or off as they please.

This probably because of the light sensor. If it's bright then of course the soft key lights will turn off, and if it's dark then well you can expect it to turn on. Try it out yourself. The light sensor is the black dot on the right side of your ear piece. Just cover it up and see what happens.

[Q] Capacitive Buttons Help

I really hate how the capacitive buttons are so bright, is it a way to fade them? please help!
i dont think there's a way to reduce brightness in the capacitive led's. You can adjust the time-out from 3 to 1.5 seconds... but that's about it.
i know how you feel, especially when im using the kindle app in night mode, the capacitive button slight up every time i touch the screen or turn the page, and despite the screen being on minimum brightness, everytime the capacitive lights come on, they blind me. I have since resorted to physically turning off the capacitive backlight completely when im using the kindle app.
if there is a way to reduce the brightness on them, i'd also love to know about it.
I think the only solution is wait for a developer to modify that with a diferent kernel script, meanwhile Im using Screen Filter app to disable the soft-keys light, its not perfect but my eyes are resting now lol, I hope a nice developer see this thread and try to come out with a better solution.
CM7 has a capacitive button dimmer if I'm not mistaken

I saw it but I dont think CM7 is ready for a daily driver rom and I dont know if its actually a dimmer to lower the light or just to activate it as notification lights

[Q] Hardware buttons - permanently light up?

Hello!
I just switched from HTC Hero to HTC Wildfire S
Is there any ROM or App that lights up the hardware buttons permanently?
I know that they are linked to the light sensor. But in low-light conditions I really can't tell where the buttons are

Hmm, don't know if there are any apps. But I'm sure the light sensor works perfectly when it comes to seeing the soft buttons..
Welcome to the WFS forum anyway.
Well for me the light sensor does not work properly here. I cannot see the buttons dusky in light conditions
Try screen filter it has options for turning on the button lights.
When u Start the program it'll dim ur screen then click it's settings in notification bar and adjust the slider to set the dimness and select the option to light up the buttons.
Not sure what u mean by permanent but just try it out and give a thumbs up if it helped
Hi! Screen Filter does not work even thought I selected the option for light up the buttons
By permenent I mean: I want the hardware buttons to light up always when the display is on.
Isn't. That the. Default case?
My buttons. Are always lit when. My display. Is on
Edit: using cyanogenmod 7.2
Maybe this will help
