I use my phone day to day for school and work and want to know if any of the ICS roms are capable of being a daily driver. Enough that the bugs dont hault usage dramatically. If so suggestions on which ?
Thanks.

The reason I had to go back to gingerbread is because I rely on my phone all day long, and my battery died in 8 hours with ICS.

I am using it as my daily driver, no issues other than the ones everyone has, rotation.

easydoesit v2.2 was excellent for me...but i reverted back to gb...dont mind waiting for a fully working ICS
if you dont have the call echo issue then the roms should be fine..seems to be hit or miss with some people...i didnt experience it with easydoesit2.2
I've been using ravers latest black version the last couple days and it easily lasts me through the day with very minor issues, rotation and power off/reset.
I tried all of the ICS builds and some are better than others. The last one I used was Easydoesit. I could live with the rotation issue and the power off/reboot issue, but I could not live with the call echo issue. The echo happens to the person you are talking to. They can hear themselves talking. Almost everyone I talked with on the phone would complain about the echoing. I have customers that call me on a daily basis so the echo issue is a deal breaker. Im sticking with gingerbread until ICS ROMs are more stable.

EasyDoesIt v2.2 fo' sho. I'm having absolutely no problems except the rotation which is easily fixable

I've been flashing around the last few days. The ics I liked the most is ravers. I'm running it now. Ofcourse no wifi no rotation. But reboot works. Audio on the other end sucks. That didn't bother me. I had issues with video playback. Great battery Gallery worked. If you read though the threads you'll see some of the devs helping others. They well have a stable build soon. I would make a nand of your current rom and give ravers rc3 a go if you don't dig, flash your nand backup.
Wipe really good to prevent stupid ass issues! !
I too went back to gb. Yeah the roms were pretty stable but at the moment gb roms are best in my opinion

The case is the reason you have a bad echo. The case puts a "tunnel" around the mic, and because of a nasty bug, the mic doesn't know how to handle it. I was talking to my wife and she complained about the echo, I took my case off and the call went smooth from there. Its a bug that will get fixed, but for now it sucks.

Just tested this theory And it does'nt work for me. I use the d30 case and took it off during the call and no help also checked off noise reduction in the soft menu key while in call nothing!

I'm running black edition and it works great. Enough battery life for a day worth of tech support calls and faster than Buck Rodgers!
The only issues I had were the echoing (ditched the D3O case and it went away) and the auto rotate and I fixed that with a quick little Tasker profile. Now my auto rotate works perfect.
Having a case on the phone does not cause the echo problem on these ics roms. That is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. I personally don't use a case and my callers complain about it on every call. I don't mean to sound like a ****, but I'm sick of people thinking that all you need to do is take your case off and the echo magically disappears. It is 100% the rom/kernel that we are using. Peace!

I'm on foxstar and have no echo problems. Mobile hotspot wasn't working but someonw posted a fix.
I've been playin' around w/ a few of 'em also, so far the best I've found = (Rom) IML74K_Ics_Perfection (Fully ICS Themed) 04.03.12 (Fixed Tweaks). Been using it as my DD and not had any issues. I hardly use auto-rotate, and theres an app for that, same goes for the power/restart function, and I haven't had any call quality / echo issues reported w/ this rom at all. Battery life isn't the greatest, about 8-10hrs of frequent use, but I use Juice Defender or whatever it's called to get the most out of it. I happen to have a charger damn near wherever I go, so I don't notice it much
All the other roms I've tried haven't allowed me to change LCD density (dumb, but important to me) and have had freezing / lag issues for me. Best of luck on whichever you choose!
TL/DR So far I haven't noticed anything that would steer the average user away from using it!

what tasker profile did you use for auto-rotate? and how does it work conceptually?
mind explaining please...does it work on the camera orientation too? got really tired to flipping pics after taking them...its mainly the only reason i reverted back to GB.
I installed and was using IML74K_Ics_Perfection RC2 for a day, but had to revert back to rooted stock. This particular rom was great, overal very smooth and snappy, but some little things here and there were bugging me. As far as i understand it will be the same no matter what you install untill we get a proler kernel. Things like shutdown/reboot, skype not working, rotation, wifi calling etc.
But if things above are not a big deal for you, I can honestly recommend this rom. Probably will not find better

Well, there's no perfect answer to this question. The best 2.3 ROM is the one that works best on your phone. Every ROM performs just a bit differently on each person's phone. Apps added and other changes made can also effect this. Our Epics can be like a second girlfriend...one minute giving you all kinds of love and happiness and the next minute can be a real pain in the ass...wait maybe I need a new girlfriend!

Yup, its all about trial and error. I can't tell you how many times I have tried a ROM and its worked perfect only for other users to report constant force closes. When you do find the ROMs that work perfect you will be a very happy camper. It pains me to run a stock setup now.

CM7.
jk. But I'd check out acs bamboozled...best gb rom I've used so far.
I've tried two (or three) 2.3 based roms and there has been a couple of things that have always caused me to go back to SRF 1.2:
No custom kernels = no overclock - I'm not a huge overclocking type of guy, but I always like to have it clocked at 1.12 or 1.2 ghz, just enough to keep it smooth but not high enough to run it hot or drain my battery.
No custom kernels = Cannot use Galaxy Tuner - I use Google Music as my primary source of car music, which means I needed to find an external app to use as an equalizer. Voodoo sound didn't work and Tuner froze on me every time I tried to use it.
Still Very buggy - I've run into a few bugs that have always irritated me, no matter how small they were. Whether it's something that freezes my phone or just kills the frame rate, I've just always been bugged (get it?) by bugs.
But where there is bad things, there have been a lot of good things that I absolutely loved about 2.3, almost enough to stay with it:
Live Backgrounds - For me, they've seem to have gotten better (stock ones anyways) and, as far as I could tell, they don't murder my battery or frame rate. The one I loved the most was this awesome looking clock that was a bunch of circles. It's hard to explain...
Screen off Animation - More eye candy, but awesome eye candy. Not much to say other then I love watching my phone turn off
Everything just seemed so smooth - Scrolling, opening apps up, etc, just seemed so fluid and clean, even if the frame rate was dropping for some reasons.
------
Those are some of my personal pro's and con's on deciding whether to run 2.3 at this time or not. For me, the con's on top were more important then the pro's on the bottom. Needs are different for each person so I'm sticking with 2.2 for now until either the official release of 2.3 is out or we can start adding kernels and themes (etc etc).

You know there can be no custom kernels until source code is released. But as for overclocking, many have had success with Tegrak from the market that has allowed overclocking on the GB leaked ROMS.

Yea, I'm slowly learning all that, I just didn't know at the time. As for Tegrak, I heard it's a major drain on the battery for some reason, but maybe results vary from user to user. Overclocking wasn't a huge concern for me, it was the other two on there that kind of got to me. I'm still happy with 2.2 so that's why I've decided to wait it out
Install acs updater and try them all

hmm i never tried compkid's regeneration or inception roms. How are they?
as for the topic we are on now, i left acs1.2 the day eg22 came out and yeah al though for some things i would love to go back to acs1.2 but the scale is heavier for me on the gb side.
I used go green, team era's scrambled eggs and tried all the randomrom 2.3 versions (eagle, egret, osprey). The most stable rom for me is randomrom osprey. It is fast enough, great on battery and everything works well with it (other lauchers, apps, etc). As for scrambled eggs, man i loved how snappy that rom was. It was extremely quick upon the click but unfortunately it wasnt working that good with a few launcher and apps and way too many force closes but still fast. Even though i feel scrambled eggs was snappier than osprey, i did receive much higher quadrant scores with osprey (not that quadrant actally matters to me, just for the sake of seeing the scores).
GoGreen was meh for me and i am definitely anticipating an update for scrambled eggs..
I first went with Bamboozle, and it was good. Then one day there are 3 EG22 Roms here it seemed.
So I tried RandomRom and I was having an awful time after 2 days with FC's and reboots.
I then loaded Scrabmled Eggs yesterday and I have been clean (other than google Nav). I am checking battery life now, but I am doing better now than I was with RandomRom. I have to think I was doing something wrong with RandomRom cuz my battery life was terrible and the FC's. I did the same thing each time I installed them, but as said before, each phone is different.
Good luck!

Curious, how did you go about flashing RandomROM? It was the first EG22 rom i tried when it initially came out and all the updates since have worked flawlessly for me.

I was running the scrambled eg22v4, just installed v7 this morning and so far it seems a little better. Only complaint is my battery seems to be going down a little faster, but it could be cuz I've been messing with loading stuff and resetting everything up. I'll give more feedback when I've had it a few days. ACS Go Green wasn't bad either.
Im using OMFGb and it works fairly well but there are a couple things that really bug me and Im wondering if all the roms do this.
1, I use wired headphones to listen to music and sometimes to talk on the hone if its noisy around me. When you use a wired head phone the mic on the phone wont work.
2 when using Blue tooth if you disconnect from the BT the mic is disabled and wont work unless you end the call and call over. You can see how these things can start to piss me off after a while. Especially since one of my cars is a standard.
Is there a rom that has this issue solved??
I believe that is all AOSP ROMs. Its something in the programming that hasnt been flushed out yet. I dont know of any of these problems on a Sense based ROM.
Agreed, I jump back and forth between the AOSP and Sense based roms. I only have the issues you stated with the AOSP's.
So Im not crazy Why dont they address this issue, I love the AOSP roms but I cant have those issues. Yesterday I used Skyraider and was able to use BT and headphones without issue. Battery life didnt seem as good, I will watch it the rest of this week.

where do I find that
Hi guys. I bought nexus couple days ago and returned it cus of signal strength, sound, keyboard and screen issues. So I've got a couple questions please.
1: I read that 4.0.4 Google ICS update will fix the low speaker volume. Anyone know if this is true or how to fix this now?
2: I was typing in here, xda app once and the keyboard paused every couple letters. Typing was terrible. Is this just a fluke or normal? Seemed better elsewhere sometimes so just curious.
3: can you make the radio better? It was on 3g mostly at home where the Rezound is on 4G mostly.
4: how do the included ear buds sound?
5? I played the game Monopoly and the sound was buggy with the shoe. You'd hear the shoe each space and on the last one it had the sound one extra time.
6: in monopoly the touch screen was terrible. You touch stuff but it picks something else like you touched somewhere else. This in auction screen and trade area. Made it unplayable.
I have Rezound but screen digitizer thing bothers me. Reminds me of anti glare. So I might want to get the nexus again if the above issues could be fixed or made better somehow.
Thank you.

1. I tried 4.04 only for few mins and i didn't notice any difference. In mean time we can use Volume+, it really helps a lot.
2. Same here. Especially noticeable when predictive text enabled. Now i'm sorry that i didn't check that while i had 4.0.4.
3. All we can do is to wait for driver updates and hope that things will improve. Personally for me this isn't a problem as usually i'm in good reception areas, but i do agree that GN radio is very weak.
4. For me they are just ok and i prefer using mine Sennheisser CX300 II instead.
5-6. I would say that game needs an update. I game a lot on GN and never noticed problems as you have described. Though i found few games that wouldn't start at all because of incompatibility with ICS. Try to email game developers.

I will try to answer ur ques 1 by 1
but first wud like to say u cannot compare GN to rezound ..no way...just my 2 cents
1. if u get GN, update it to any of the ROMS like AOKP,FOXHOUND, etc or just get the STock 4.03 with maybe 4.0.4 GAPPS; i have Foxhound on ICS 4.03, radio= UGKL1, with James bond as my Kernel
2. No Lags whatsoever with keyboard or otherwise
3. signal strength is solid ( varies b/w -78dB to -92 dB) with UGKL1 in GTA, wifi is strong as well. switches between 3g and H flawlessly with good speed.
4. ear buds are decent , i use it with DSP manager..gives good depth and 3D effect. Never thought my speaker volume was low though..??
5. about monoply problem i really dont know,,,,it cud have been an app issue as well. check if its compatible with GN ?
Hope this helps, wid have loved to share SS to show you but cant ( m still a newbie )

thanks guys . so most of my issues might be able to be fixed ? I kind of prefer the screen on the nexus over the rezound because the resound has this digitizer that makes me think of anti glare on the screen . google voice also sucks on the resale and when I'm trying to type in here . See, I said rezound not resale.
Why no contest between nexus and rezound in your opinion?
What is ss?
If I got the nexus again would someone please help me with unlocking, root and the roms and radio stuff? I have tried looking here for info but am lost with too many threads and stuff.
Is want to make backup image right after I turned on nexus and go through setup. Then put ics Rom with none of the vzw crud. Then improve radio or whatever to get it stronger. Then make speakerphone vol better.
I do like the beats audio ear buds that come with rezound. So if nexus ones sound ok that'll be cool. I like to listen to my music in Google music streaming highest quality while walking around the track. But Google streaming seems like its only 64k not what I uploaded.

No Probs bro...
sorry SS means ScreenShot...my bad
well Nexus is google's baby u see....so it gets all updates directly from google...so no tweaked UI's and stuff....just pure ICS. rezounds or any other non nexus wud always get ICS updates with lot of lag depending on carrier and Manufacturer tweaks.
The display is amazing on GN and GN has seen tremendous support from developers( i have never seen development for any other phone so aggressive )
ok XDA is the right place for ur needs for everything Nexus
for unlocking you can use either

or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454314
both are very straight forward and threads are very detailed....i used the first option. u can also use these to make backups or u can make a nandroid from recovery after u installed CWM
for all customisation needs from ROMS to Radios...try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392380
good luck
did i forget to point that GN is an unlocked device that will work anywhere in the world ...i dont think ur rezound would do that

Keyboard, it just a bug...
4.04 update; Yes, it will.... I've tried quite a few 4.04 ROMs, my phone has gotten MUCH louder...
Radio-better? Download Tune-In, it's an ICS problem...
The earbuds are just amazing!!! They've got a better sound and more bass than most Hi-End cinema speakers...
The sound in apps, has nothing to do with Android, it's probably just because the app hasn't been completely updated to work properly with ICS...
If you think the reaction time is bad in monopoly is bad, play 3D bowling...
Just wait untill the next update gets released, no need to panic... Or if you don't mind rooting your phone and flash a custom ROM... Link to my toolbox:

I was able to return my rezound. Not sure about nexus since it has issues.

Well I have the CDMA Verizon galaxy nexus and the radio is terrible. Its just weaker than HTC and Motorola... its the manufacturer's weak build (Samsung) who has never had great signal strength when it comes to phones.
There are only two radios I believe I can flash on my galaxy nexus and they aren't good. I still can't keep a solid 4g signal near my job but when I had the rezound, it stayed connected even with 3 bars.
Are there other radios for the galaxy nexus (Verizon)??

---------- Post added at 12:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:18 AM ----------
i had same probs with radio before i decided to flash newer 1s...so checked all availavble radios and found significant improvement moving to XXKL1 and UGKL1..if you havent yet try UGKL1 surely will improve signal performance

I'm just curious how to switch a verizon GN from 3g to H???
And yes, the rezound actually outperforms the nexus in just about everything but software updates from google...
I got the nexus again to try. But something is on the screen that reminds me of anti glare and I don't like it much. Not sure what it is that I see.

I returned nexus because the screen has something on it I don't like. Also it doesn't show white well. Looks almost more creamy or something.
So I guess I have to wait for new phones but don't know what's in the pipeline and when.

Is the sad truth that our phones will never be as smooth as it was while running gingerbread?
is it just me or will our phones ever live up to the stability of GB? I have used every ROM since I bought this phone..and GB is the "pinnacle" of software for our phone.
Now this is my first Android phone but is this the case with other phones? I.e. the software shipped with the phone is the best suited version.

Well the phone was built around that OS. Guess its like having a PC that came with XP and wanting to throw on a custom made Windows 8 OS on it.

I'll have to politely disagree
I actually have have my phone feel more smooth on ICS and even more smoother on jelly bean.. I was on ginger bread stock for the longest time before I found out about xda and my experience has been way better since then... I even reverted back recently to try a GB Rom and felt like my experience was still better on ICS /JB
But I understand where u coming from. Every one has different experiences

Sure, I agree that ICS and JB are way better than GB..much "sexier" to have. Matter fact, JB has sucked me back in to loving my phone. However, the argument is that no matter how hard the devs try, who do a damn good job, GB will be far and away the best OS for our phone. This includes stability, dependability and of course battery life, among other things :good:
Its not our phones fault sprint gave us a jacked ota :/
Gb wasn't always 'perfect' but ics, and eventually jb we'll most likely be just as pleasing as gb, If not more, with more features. Just give her time

Just you. Here I am rocking CM9b1.
I totally feel what your saying..cuz other phones on sprint have smooth stock ics other than ours..we can go back and fourth but the fact of the matter is samsung and sprint released a half a** update for ics ..and god bless the developers trying to improve the ics experiance!

I also agree that Ics does not match gb YET. But they are making progress fi03 has shown us hope of that. It looks a little smoother and showing major improvement I'm both battery and signal. So Sammy is listening and working to smooth out ics. Keep in mind that there is even a newer build that we don't have yet fi06 who knows whats fixed in that. And I am willing to bet we will get some more drops this month of they continue with this pattern . So let's try and stay optimistic Sammy definitely has the financial backing now to afford good support for there devices. And since the s2 is still selling very well Sammy is continuing support and with Motorola making such a public announcement about there jb support you know sammy is gonna compete with that. So even of ics doesn't become perfect they will probably get it right in jb. Either way a little patience and optimisim will go a long way the future looks bright for our phone.

I honestly never had an issue with ICS even with the past leaks besides the Wimax bug which is now fixed. Maybe phones have different effects to software. Idk but that emmc bug never affected me and I used the stock recovery to wipe more than once on several occasions lol..

You guys must not be doing clean installs with full wipes and just doing the ota update. I haven't had any issues with ICS or JB, but I always do a thorough wipe before flashing anything and I only use aosp based roms, like AOKP or PA. I'm not a fan of TWiz so I only run it long enough to do PrL and Profile updates  if you're having issues with ICS or JB I recommend doing a thorough wipe and then flash a rom and start fresh, left over data and incompatible apps can cause all kinds of issues. I think the only reason the carriers don't wipe data on OTAs is cuz its easier to listen to ppl ***** about the update sucking than it is to listen to em ***** the update erased all their games and apps . They should just force data wipe on OTA and use the Google sync function to restore most data after a clean install, but still people would complain they lost their texts and other assorted crap that if its honestly that important should be getting saved to their external SD cards anyways, cuz if the phone breaks you're gonna lose your sh!t atleast if its on the external SD you can salvage it

Yes I do every time. Try flashing back to el29 run it for a day or two then flash back to ics and tell me you don't see the difference. It's pretty night and day. I am willing most people that are satisfied with ics are either just happy that's it's a little but better than the ff18. **** we were given or aren't comparing it to el29 maybe cause they never ran it or it's been So long they forgot what it feels like. When you flash back to el29 coming from ics that actually feels like the upgrade. Especially on ph 4.1

This is my thought exactly. We had what, 3 or 4 official builds of GB before they got it right? And we are on number 2 for ICS.
And with that being said, I am not having any problems with ICS. The last two leaks are running great and I don't miss GB at all.
Everybody has there own experience and opinions, this is just mine.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I agree with the OP. GB was a much more stable experience. I've flashed dozens of roms both clean and keeping user data and while ICS/JB are definitely improvements to the OS feature-wise, they tend to fail at stability including bugs, battery life, reception, and performance. I've only found one ICS rom that has actually managed a better battery life than calk's EL29 GB and that's re-calked 1.9. As far as reception goes, I get 0-1 bar on ANY ICS/JB rom/kernel/modem combo I've tried here at work and I always get 1-3 bars on GB combos such as EL26 or EL29. Performance is much better on GB for the simple reason that there's less stuff and the improvements in OS efficiency are not enough to offset the increased resource usage of all those cool new features. I also have yet to find an ICS/JB rom that handles scrolling as well as GB... with 4.x when you scroll it's either manually by holding your finger and dragging slowly to pan down or it's superobnoxiously fast and you go from top to bottom but have a hard time scrolling to anywhere just shy of the top or bottom without manually panning to those points. On GB the scrolling is slower so on a long page it may take a while to get to the bottom but at least you can scroll to any point fairly easily once you get used to the scrolling speed. ICS/JB roms have bugs too... mostly minor little annoyances that aren't worth asking a dev to fix. App compatibility is another huge hit for 4.x roms as is the major wifi bug that every 4.x rom I've tried has had which causes the wifi to show as connected after a wakeup but you can't even access google.
Yes, there are certainly some features about ICS/JB which I really enjoy and this is why I keep flashing more roms in the hopes that maybe eventually I'll stumble across the perfect rom/kernel/modem combo to make my phone uber. Re-Calked 1.9 with Agat's 5.4 and FH23 has so far been a decent step in that direction but it's still not perfect as the wifi problem still exists and scrolling is still ICS scrolling but one of these days I'll find the perfect non-GB rom.
Well it seems some people arent understanding my post. Sure, cm9 is great. Ive been running pa cm10 for the past week cause its been so fun. But the best GB ROMs have given me the best experience even it wasn't as "fun"
Maybe idk how to flash properly or my phone sucks lol
I got my replacement phone (from insurance claim) today and all three callers say that the call quality is much better than usual.
I'm wondering if I had poor call quality on my previous phone because I flash about 2 ROMS a month or because it was dropped a few times.
I planned on rooting and flashing Jedi Jelly today but now I'm not too sure.
If I'm being too paranoid just call me out but i want to be cautious.
Could have been hardware or software related. The best way to get a for sure answer is to make a backup and flash a rom. If you get bad results, restore the backup.

I also got a replacement phone today in the mail and I have noticed that the manufature date is january 2013! which means the phones are very new. Mine is made in china, its possible that the parts they are using now are the same model but maybe something is different inside. The factory probably uses whatever parts are available and i too have notice a much better gps signal indoors so maybe now the s2 has some newer guts.
where is the manufacture date located?

Thru my experience, I had echo problems on the majority of custom roms... especially jb roms. After about 5 months of flashing just about every rom, I went back to an ics rom (infamous to be exact) and have had no problems since. At one point I went back to stock unrooted and experienced no call issues and amazing battery life. Infamous has done exactly the same thing for me that's why I'm sticking to it.
Btw, I'm not knocking on any of the devs here as their work has always been greatly appreciated so hopefully I didn't offend anyone.

Skyrocket-based kernels do not work well. AOSP/CM-based ROMs all have problems with SGS2 talker quality, far-end listener echo, or both. AOSP/CM kernels that use H0tcakez, kko, or ASDK kernels fix the echo problem. The SGS2 talker quality problem can be fixed by setting Phone -> Settings, "Noise Suppression" to ENABLE. After setting Noise Suppression, you may have to reboot if your ROM settings don't seem to stick. While there definitely has been progress, there is more work to be done.
poor call quality
Issue: poor call quality (muffled, cloudy, foggy) after I flashed my phone from ICS (4.0.4) to JB (4.1 or higher). The original ROM that came with the phone had the best quality.
Attempted:
Flashing: ATT-SGH-I727-UCLL3-STOCK-odexed-cwm.zip :: worst quality, cm-10.0.0-skyrocket.zip :: bad quality, cm-10.1-20130221-NIGHTLY-skyrocket.zip :: bad quality, ATT-UCLF6-cwm5.zip :: OK quality, ATT-UCLI3-odexed-cwm.zip :: OK quality, I727-UCLF6-071212.zip :: worst quality. I wiped the cache, and data. I even wiped the dalvik cache. Other times I did not with the same ROM.
Radios: I tried different Radios (UCLI3 & UCLF6) and did not notice a difference in call quality. Even with the original ROM was loaded, I flashed the Radio (UCLI3 & UCLF6) and not notice a difference. I believe the Radios are not related to the call quality. Is this true or am I missing something?
Settings: I disabled noise suppression, in the versions that supported that feature, which made the quality better but not as good as the original. I also disabled the extra volume feature, in the versions that support that feature, and that also made the quality better but not as good as the original.
Info: I have a Samsung S II Skyrocket (SGH-I727) and use AT&T. The signal strength seems consistent no matter the ROM is loaded.
Currently, besides my original ROM – which is the best call quality, the ATT-UCLF6-cwm5.zip & ATT-UCLI3-odexed-cwm.zip have the best call quality. Can anyone recommend an Android 4.2.x ROM that may have the best radios and/or kernel to alleviate this issue?
Thank you!
Great post! I was going to start flashing today but after seeing this thread I'm going to hold off until the official Jelly Bean from Koodo or Telus. I thought that all ROMs would interact with hardware in the same way! I enjoy the call quality I currently have clear and crisp. Thanks All!
Could it be an issue within the kernel not the radio?

After upping to P.A.C. 's 4.2.2 I wa told by someone (who I could hear perfectly" that they were having a hard time understanding me.
Noise Suppression was ENABLED, trying it disabled now.
Having searched around, and read this thread (thus the quotes) I've realized that advice can vary a fair bit! haha.
Well see what happens.
Not about to go back down to that old school ICS Telus is offering here in Canada. Took ages just for that and doesn't look like anything else is coming anytime soon.
EDIT: Noise Suppression was ENABLED by default. I disabled, called a friend and was told it sounded bad. RE-ENABLED and called back, was told it sounded good. Reboots in between each change/call.
Even if enabled maybe switch of, reboot, switch on and reboot?? Worth a shot anyways.

hmm I'll try this then post if working with me as well
ok the call quality is much better,I disabled the noise suppression then re-enabled like you did with reboots every time,I'll testing with other calls i hope problem solved because i love my AAMOD rom the only thing i changed was the radio from t989UVLI1 to T989UVLI4
I'm glad I searched for this thread and found people with similar issues. I rarely carry on long phone conversations, but when I do, I'd prefer the other person not have to strain to hear me. The call quality issue that I run into the most is "you sound distant/quiet" and people generally asking me to speak up when I'm already talking awkwardly loud to try and appease the issue. An iteration of this call problem has been persistent for me in every ROM/Kernel combo since 4.1.2 build bases. Heck even CM10.00 stable had problems for me. Some people say the Cerux Kernel helps but I've yet to see that ring true. I've tried the enabling/disabling noise suppression, with reboots, and still the problem exists.
I hate to switch from a solid build strictly because of call quality issues, but it is extremely annoying having to repeat myself or speak really loud for someone to hear me.
Hopefully this gets more attention and resolutions in the near future as I'd REALLY hate to go all the way back to an ICS based build. Too many new features I've grown accustomed to.
idk if it was just me but my calls have always been choppy on stock rom.
Currently using Embryo 6.8, stock radio on Koodo, incoming calls are crisp and clear, no complaints on the other end, usually a landline or Rogers phone. Usually the second question I ask the receiver, do I sound clear...always yes.
Consistent call quality complaints with 2 GS2's...
I got a second t989 thinking my phone was messed up. Rooted the second newer model and it's got the same call quality complaints. I could deal with just about any issue not working except call quality. Can't believe this isn't fixed yet.
I'm also speaking of 10.0, not 10.1.
I just don't have the stomach to flash radios and kernels etc to find a fix. Hopefully a stable 10.1 will fix the issue.
