[Q] Returning Galaxy Nexus back to 100% stock [GSM]

Hi Guys,
Noob Q - How can I return the phone back to 100% stock?
I used MrSkips GNTk v.2.0 to unlock, root & flash the official 4.0.2 8mb update file, as I didnt receive the OTA push.
I did this as i was having signal issues and am now seriously considering sending the phone back in exchange for a new one as the issues are still present
What is the easiest method? Can/should this be done using the v.2.2 tool kit?
Thanks all.
Vip
Hope this helps:
Q. I want to send my phone back so I need to flash a stock rom and relock the bootloader
1. Download and run the GN Toolkit.
2. Follow instructions on the first screen to install fastboot drivers (if you havent already done so)
3. Option5 to flash a stock rom.
4. Let the phone reboot, then shut the phone down and reenter fastboot mode again (hold vol up and vol down buttons together while pressing power button).
5. Option7 to relock the bootloader.
Your internal storage will be formatted and data and cache wiped.

Signal issues? Did you try different radios? And radios specifically for your region?

Its also worth having a read around the threads on signal as if you are looking only at the amount of bars you have there is some issues where people are suggesting that the nexus isn't as optimistic with its bars as other phones / carrier roms. They say the only way is to view the -dBm value to see the actual phone signal strength.
Maybe something to look at?

I am in the same boat, but for a different reason. I need to reset my Galaxy Nexus because I need to swap it out for a new one at the store (I cracked the screen and have best buy insurance).
I have the Galaxy Nexus ToolKit v5.3h on my pc and put the stock image in the right folder. I flashed it back to the original settings (but did not relock the bootloader yet), but under the phone setting it still says I am on kernel version 3.0.8-gaaa2611... I am pretty sure it shouldn't say this. If I lock the bootloader will I be good to go?
I just want to make sure I don't void my warranty at the store.
Thanks
GN Toolkit does not have that option any more. Any other ideas?

Just Flashed Yakju but have a problem...

Hi,
Been snooping round here for a while but haven't needed to post as i found all the answers until now!
I have just flashed my Galaxy Nexus to yakju using the Nexus Root Toolkit by Wugfresh in order to get 4.1.1 and it all went smoothly. The updtae is there but when i try and install it i just get a red error sign. At first i though it was because i still had an unlocked bootloader so i re-locked it (symbol has gone) but i still get the same error.
I'm a complete rookie at this but could do with some help!!!
Thanks,

what error does it have exactly?
Also, I would download the update over WiFi, could be a corrupt OTA maybe.
I would reflash the 4.0.4 image via toolkit, then relock bootloader, then use WiFi to get the OTA

great advance there, i reinstalled all of the images and it's done it. I think i may have missed the radio off the list 1st time round :silly:
Thanks to both of you for the help, hopefully everything runs smoothly
:good:
Just remember next time you return to stock that it's important to flash both the stock bootloader and stock radio in order to receive and auto-install the OTA.
Also, bootloader unlock state does not matter. You can have an unlocked bootloader and it does not at all affect your ability to receive and apply an OTA.

no man i didn't unlock the bootloader,i can't do it with flashtool
Sony now has the ability to give out unlock codes for the Play, if my memory serves. You may want to try it. It will break any warranty you have, so be aware of that.

If you didnt unlock your bootloader before installing a custom rom. Idk how else to help you. You might have to send off your xperia play to Sony.

Yes use his flashtool. But the real question can you use it if your bootloader is locked.
works on both
If a boot loader is locked it means its intact hense the word locked. So the phone boots so all you have to do is..
Download your stock ftf file for you phone.
Hold the back button when you connect your phone and flash your firmware back. Light should turn green.
If it don't hold the power button while you connect it Sonay used this method to put it in the first time.i

Hi
I was hoping you could help me. I rooted my play and was following a youtube video as descibed. I couldn't attach the link because I am a new member. It was the new ics 4.0.4 from the android doctor - 100% bug free gaming rom. I had difficulty in flash tools when i needed to go into fastboot mode to install the Lupus kernel. So I installed the cwm mode from the internet and tried to install the ics from its recovery mode. Now I just get the sony logo, then the screen goes black. It is still on. I have reinstalled flashtools and have seen some stock roms on this site to download. The problem I have is when I select the rom to flash, whilst it recognises that my phone is in flash mode, I get a error flash cancelled. I have tried 3 different stock roms. I am in the process of downloading Emma - a flashtool from Sony. Hopefully my phone is not screwed. It was on 2.3.4. One week old unlocked rx800i. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks..
Tommy

You guys remember about 2011 June, a problem came up with unlocked bootloader and OTA update. the first fix that came out broke the radio rom or something so your phone won't accept any sim but will boot and be like a psp or media player. well. that happened to me. and 2 years down the line, i'm still with my play hoping someone could come up with a solution for that.
boots up fine. plays games and audio video no probs but still can't accept any sim in it.
Specs are as follows
model R800i
android version 2.3.4
baseband number 8x55A-AAABQMAZM-203028D-56
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-perf

Build Number 4.0.2.A.0.42

Back to Stock (yakjuvs) (Galaxy X Brazilian) without usb cable

Hello everybody!
I need a ****ing help here now! I searched in XDA and i didn't found any solution (maybe for my despair), but, here i go:
I have a Galaxy X (Galaxy Nexus in Brazil), it's had the ROM (yakjuvs), but i "transformed" in Galaxy Nexus Takju for recive atualization of the Google. Now i have a problem with Usb conector port (in the phone). It doesn't connect in PC.
- What I need?
Back to stock rom (yakjuvs), unroot, back to stock recovery, re-lock bootloader (I think that's it.), for send my phone to warranty for repair.
- What's my difficulty?
I don't have access via ubs/pc.
There is any way to make this?
Sorry if there is other post about this, but i really didin't found.
I need help as fast as possible.
So long, and thanks for all the fish! Thanks! Thanks!

Unique solution that i think possible if you can't flash in bootloader is using stock zip flashable file, passed with airdroid and flash stock but you can't flash stock recovery without bootloader, for lock bootloader i saw trickster mod ( root app ) option but is experimental
Are you sure that is Phone problem and not driver on PC/Usb port damaged on pc? it's strange :/

I got the same problem dont worry your device is not dead, you just need to flash the firmware. Firmware for 32gb is available on XDA but not for 16gb, mine was 16gb so i just give to LG they flashed the firmware and it booted successfully and it also wont take much time so dont worry
