This is the One X forum. The only answer you will get here will be 'yes'. You are asking the converted!
(I have still yet to decide between this and the One S).

i have it and i must say it is very different to my old galaxy s2. big, gorgeous and beautiful in white. but there are things i am worried about. one the phone is already locked bootloader two would not have a clue how to root it even if i wanted to and three i need to get it a case
other than that great choice and when i put it on a surface i always make sure i am careful doing it

Yes it's excellent been playing with mine for last couple of hours and can't fault it. Too early to tell in terms of battery life but wow it's good. Even little things like the YouTubeHD videos look awesome far better compared to my galaxy. Notification light is a bliss, screen looks awesome, camera works well. Build quality is nice but will thoroughly test it all when I get some time.
With custom roms and kernels it will only get better.

I hear that fruit brand that make a nice phone with some nice looking pages of tiles you can flick between and errr... FOLDERS! Well, what more do you want? True customisation.

Yes, we are a bit of a biased bunch here - BUT I will say that I had pretty damn high expectations of this phone, and it actually surpassed them. By some distance.
As far as this or the One S is concerned.. well... 16gb is not enough for me, and the Screen on the One X (Capitalised on purpose).... Oh the screen.....

On another forum there are iphone converts, GN converts, SGSII converts and all are happy with the One X. Of course again there is bias because these are all people who have already bought it
The screen is what threw me as well. I'd initially decided the One S given I was coming from a desire and it wasn't just a huge leap in size. Then I started seeing the reviews about the screens, people had done microscope shots showing the difference.... and i was sold
M.

When is the OTA update due and what's it for???? Hope it fixes the weird flickering. I get in browser and camera sometimes......

do me a favor guys please...look at the power button at the top. on the right side of the power button do you see like a little hole at the bottom of the button..kinda like the plastic power button is out of place? i know it is nothing and will be covered when using a case but i am kinda OCD with things like that and i just want to know it is not me just imagining things

sounds a good choice i must admit it does look sexy in white carnt wait to get mine.

I don't see the hole on mine, at most there is a really small gap next to the button at the front camera side but it doesn't sound like what you're talking about.

Since I have not yet been converted, I would have to say, NO, you did not make the right choice. Pass on HTC's silly decision to make a phone that doesn't allow adding an SD card. My 16 month old HTC phone with 4GB of internal + 32GB of external barely stores my modest music collection without much room to spare for other things like lots of apps or picture/video storage. I would think that charging a premium for a quad core CPU and such a gorgeous screen, what moron decided to exclude external storage ability without designing in at least twice the memory they settled on? ... and I really do want to like this phone!! Maybe by the time I am ready to upgrade, HTC will realize their mistake and release a version with external storage ability. I mean, you already have to get into it to install a SIM right?

I think youll find most handsets are going down this root now with space constraints due to large processers, better cams etc and they will just tell you why do you need to store stuff on phone when it can be stored in cloud for easy access aswell

Couldn't agree more, such size screens are just stupid, you are getting in to realms of tab territory then, really who needs a screen of nearly 5 inches on a phone?
Samsung's really do feel cheap, having played with the majority of their releases, they all feel like a lump of plastic, HTC on the other hand feel solid and well built.
And to top it all I hate Samsung's interface, sense IMO is the king of android UI.
I don't think I could bring myself to move away from the look Ive become used to.
If HTC bought out a phone the same size and look as the desire, with the latest android, dual core, more internal memory possibly 32gb or even just a couple but with 2 micro sd slots then I'm sure it would be a best seller again.
HTC if you are reading, please make it happen They could call it Ultimate Desire
Yeah, but with Google it will be vanilla UI
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Yeah, it won't be using TouchWiz if it is a Nexus device. And this is the XDA Developers forum - if you don't like the stock rom, change it!
I really prefer the overall look and feel of my Desire, but my wife and son each have SGS2's and I must admit that I'm jealous of the extra screen size and how quickly apps load.
hehe i agree with some of the above
samsung will probably make it feel cheap and iphone-esque - as thats what they do
I like 3.7" - but the sensation might be at a push ok - 4.65" seems massive! I'll never reach my thumb across the screen holding it one handed...
I also like physical buttons - also thought the trackpad on my desire was pointless until t2w/t2u came into my life!
only thing good would be that it is pure android and no touchwiz
Someone asked me to help set up their galaxy ace the other day. I hated no track ball
It also seemed to lack a home button which was really annoying

My contract is due to for a renewal and I am actually torn between the Sensation and Galaxy SII, and I hate the plasticness and lightness of Samsung, although Super AMOLED seems very tempting.
Bearing in mind that I have not held the Sensation in my hands yet.
What to go for, or wait for the Nexus Prime?

Its tricky. The SGS2 is much better spec'd, especially in the screen. But if I get mugged I want a phone that will dent the offenders skull, not shatter to pieces on his face.
I cant say I am particularly swayed by either of these releases tbh. When my contract comes up I just dont know what to do.

Hang onto your Desire, imo. They are becoming outdated, but with custom ROMs et al, can be kept pretty well abreast with the latest releases. I am gonna hang out til Q2 next year and see what is around then. jm2c

Concur with all of this.
My mate got a Sensation last week and, while it is a gorgeous looking piece of hardware, very hard to negotiate with one hand.
And tp2w/u is just the bees knees! When I unlock my phone using track pad, my friends are blown away with the idea...we are talking iP3/4 owners, HD7, Sensation and SGS in my group. Worst thing HTC did was lose the tactile buttons.

everyone is doing it though - binning off all the physical buttons... I guess it 'looks cooler' or something
i also agree - keep the desire - wait for the nexus prime to calm down - then samsung and htc will release a new phone based on ICS probably with slightly better specs than the Prime soon (I say april next year)
My contract wont finish till April next year , so all the tine phoens coming out now will be affordable ( free on contract or cheaper to buy )
I am looking at the Gnote... I like the screen and teh mini tablet "esq"
my desire is fab .. but I have used the sensation and the the g2 .. but there is something missing..
for now , my Desire wins!
Yup. Ending May. May go Sim free for a while....I'm on O2 though and I either keep paying my contract + handset or go down to 500MB internet (which is NOT enough) or go SIM free and risk not being able to afford a handset

depends from how much useless space there is around the screen
it can be 4.65 and be with the same dimension as our desire for example, because it should also not have physical buttons
anyway is not really so big.. 4.65-3.7= 0.95 inches = 2.4 centimeters much bigger, in diagonal, than our desire..but our desire have some useless space around the screen
lets just wait when it comes out to see how it is
Is Sensation exactly the same size as Desire (external size)?
I am asking, because I have a bike mount for Desire that I use everyday when cycling to work, and wonder if Sensation would fit into it too?

The main reason for most moving away from physical button off the main screen is concern of getting sued by apple for copyright .

What to do with a broken ribbon cable...

Well, sadly, today I have broken the ribbon cable on the phone connecting to the screen the screen still appears but will not take input... The big question now is, is it fixable, and if so do I bother?
If not should I try to buy a used DZ or just go for a new phone? What do you guys think?
Then of course if it's a new phone that begs the question.... which one XD haha dam this sucks :/
What do you guys predict will be a highly supported phone by developers of those coming out these days? I want a higher end phone but I also more than that want it to be used by others
This happened to me with my g1. About this late in the game. Bought a used one on Ebay for parts. I also had my g2 out in heavy rain recently on the golf course. 70 to fix the water damage and get a new battery at a cell phone store. They have the parts.
New phone hercules or skyrocket or galaxy nexus depending on your carrier. I'm partial to the hercules. Development is picking up considerably.

Also should I try to wait until these new phones from MWC are out? I would like one with ICS XD
The Galaxy Nexus would be a no-brainer if it weren't for the fact that it doesn't have an SD-card slot :/ that's where I feel they messed up terribly..

I think the htc one s is going to be a really good phone that will last u a long time. It comes out in april so u gotta wait a little longer but its got the new dual core 1.5ghz s4 snapdragon processor which competes and even outdoes the tegra 3 in some categories. I know that its still not the top of the line like the one x which only at&t is getting but its still amazing. Also its got a sick new camera check it out on engadget. It comes with sense 4.0 but u can just get cm9 for a pure ics experience
Edit: just read ur comment about no sd card. Unfortunately this doesn't have one either but I think the one s has 16gb internal could be 32 look it up BUT it does have a free dropbox service for 2 years giving u an additional 25gbs

Yea the one s definitely looks VERY appealing but its a bit expensive and a large problem is the wait time :/ I mean I guess I could try... XD But if they don't replace this phone I'm not going to be able to wait for that as I'll need one now for every day.
Yeah quite frankly if I can hold out I think I would definitely go for the one s or one x, actually the X seems a little TOO big for me, sadly though does have a lot more storage and that bigger battery :/

That smaller battery in one s doesn't make a difference b/c it has a smaller display and a lower res (not true 720p) than the one x. Screen takes a huge amount of power that's y the battery is a little bigger in one x. I even thought the 4.3 was a little big lol my bro has the nexus s and I don't think I would want a display bigger than that. Not sure how much the price will be tho, maybe $250?? Newer high-end phones are breaking that $200 bar we're all used to. Honestly if I was u I would try and wait for a newer phone (i.e. one series) if ur gonna shell out a lot of money cuz the new specs in a month or so are gonna far out date anything that's out now.

Yeah I think I'm pretty much sold on the One S, and yeah I realize that the smaller screen will mean less battery use but just not sure on if it would account for all of it
However early rumours of the costs of the phones are putting them in the range of 700$ :/ I REALLY hope they are wrong! Anything under 600$ I think I would buy the One S
Yeah the 4.3 might be large but I think I'd be able to get used to it, especially with how pretty those 4.3 inches are
So I figured I'd update. I sent the phone in after reverting to stock, but, I have to wait up to a month to get it back, and they were low on loaner phones so I have a 2 year old windows 6.5 phone >< garbage! Supposed to give me an android! So, I called customer support, and after a bit of talking and such, they gave me 75$ towards the HTC one s !

Should i buy the one x?

Hello people I am an owner of HTC Desire S and time has come to retire my phone and upgrade.
I am seriously considering getting the ONE X so I have a couple of question that you proud owners of it can probably answer.
1.What are the things I should look out for when buying it?
2.What are the major problems you have with the device?
3.Is the white version out of the question due to getting easily dirty and scraches easily spoted?
Thanks in advance for you help
1) the batch number. i have got sh26 and its flawless. i heard before 25 some HOX had the wifi problem.
2) no major problems. at first i had battery life problem but now its all fine after flashing viper and faux.
3) i have the white version. i use a back part to protect my color. the case got totally yellow. cant tell much about whether the white hox will get dirty or not. my one is still milk white. although its protected.
go for it. you will never regret it.

Good choice. Just buy it
Hi mate. When images of the HOX were leaked last year, I was completely enamored by the device's design, and although the camera bump in the back spoiled it a bit, I still find the phonearvelous to behold. Not so much as a woman, but you get the point...
A's to your first question, by having a look around the forum, you'll soon discover 3 main issues with HOX models: Some screens appear to have yellow spots, some units have faulty WiFi and some appear to have sub-optimal batteries that tend to overheat and discharge quickly.
As to your second question, from my experience with a UK HT24 white HOX, I never encounters these problems. My screen is of the "warm" variety, I never had the temperature of the phone rise above 46 degrees Celsius, WiFi works perfectly, lags were noticeably before, a
nd now they've disapeared completely with the latest update. Battery life has also improved, plus live wallpapers work perfectly now. Ah the joy of staring at the cosmic abyss slithering below you on the HOX's magnificent TrueHD IPS screen!
And about the discoloration issues of the white models: I've never experienced any! The only incident I've ever seen involved a brown unit. I've never seen a picture of a discolored white model. White so becomes our HOX. I would never expect to buy a white colored phone, but on this phone it fits it perfectly! I take some care of it, however, mainly wiping the back occasionally with a cloth or tissue and I bought a cheap soft silicone case for it that fits it perfectly and prevents it from getting scratched. Just add a screen protector and that's all this phone needs!

Just FYI - I've had seriously problems with the audio (hissing and excessive line noise) on my One X, and I've seen plenty of other people report this same issue. HTC took my phone back to repair the issue but when it came back nothing had changed - same problem. I've back to my old Galaxy Nexus now cause I was getting migraine during long listening sessions.
Best phone I've ever had

I used to have the Samsung galaxy s3, and I must say, it was noticeably faster and efficient (battery wise). But just received update from OTA which has eradicated lag from the One X, so that's not a problem. The phone is awesome, the design and just the effect you get when holding it - oh and the screen is hands down the best I have seen in my life - the ppi, brightness and just the way that the screen is not interrupted by the end of the phone, your finger just slides off. So to you, I would say get the One X! Its a fantastic quad-core Tegra 3 phone (which btw allows some awesome ps2 graphic games ... amazing)

everything you do with s-off you can do right now except the fact that you need a pc to flash the partition images

Flawless phone since the last update, go for it !
fud is that a proper word lmao

Aye, I was disappointed with myself that I actually waited 3 months to do so.
A few weeks to make sure the phone is issue free should be enough.
As for the other guy, he can't be serious.

I've owned both the Galaxy S3 and the One X. I've stayed with the One X....LOVE IT!!
Had a few bugs when it first came out, mine had some audio problems (popping and skipping). But with the 2.17 update it's working great now.
Mine hasn't had any of the Wifi problems.
Really didn't like the Touchwiz interface and the plasticky feel to the S3.
I'm really happy with the One X and I've always been a big fan of Sense UI.

Worth Upgrading from M7?

The M7 is supposed to get Sense 6. The only things I see that the M8 has is the depth camera and better battery and microsd card. Is there anything else? Thanks.
Might as well wait M9

Short answer there is about as much reason to switch from the M7 to m8 as their is to switch from the S4 to S5..which is not much
-4.7in screen vs 5in screen, nice size upgrade, but the bottom buttons moved into the screen.
-Speakers are better on the M8, but they aren't bad on the M7
Reason's you may consider the upgrade:
-32GB storage is not enough, you can expand the memory up to 160GB Total on the M8
-Gun Metal Gray looks sick, I love the fit and finish of the M8, it does look better
I had the M7, got the Lumia Icon, which I am now upset I sold, because I really like the Windows interface and screen
- Was deciding between the M8 and the S5, and I am sorry, but Samsung just looks plain cheap, even though I know it's a great phone.
Lets see... A better processor, SD card, bigger screen, bigger battery.... I definitely think it's an upgrade. Personally I would sell off the M7 and pay the difference for the M8, the price difference is definitely worth the upgrade.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
In my opinion, the processor bump doesn't mean anything since I don't play games and the M7 is plenty fast. I don't use up much memory (don't watch videos or have lots of pictures) so the microsd card doesn't mean anything to me. Bigger screen is nice, but 4.7 is good enough for me. The only thing that looks really good to me is the battery life increase. I heard the speakers are better/louder, but then again, I don't watch movies on it and listen to music only on headphones.
Hard decision.

How can this possibly be a hard decision? You've basically said that every feature that could be considered worthy to upgrade for you aren't interested in. Just keep your phone, honestly. You've already answered your own question and you don't need people on the internet to help push you to an impulse buy.
Agreed. Thanks.

Yeah dude ...just keep your device and why troll the M8 boards? If you don't have the means to upgrade then don't. I like to have the latest and greatest cause I could.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Battery life alone was enough for me to upgrade. I can easily go all day even with heavy use. The M7 I had to charge twice a day, with the same usage my M8 last all day. Something about the M8 that makes it so efficient. It's night and day difference, with that said all the other little aspect of the phone has been slightly upgraded and if the whole package is not enough for you to upgrade then I don't know what will.

Seeing how I have both here at home I can say it's a beautiful step up from the m7. I actually bought the m8 and passed my note 3 to my lady which was using the m7. I always liked the m7 but lack of ad card support was what made me go back to Samsung, but after what they pulled with Knox I am done with them.

Seems to me that your decision isn't so hard then
I think the battery (particularly if you are a heavy user) and camera are enough of an upgrade to justify getting the M8. What makes the decision difficult is that the HTC one m7 is just a great phone making it too short a time to upgrade.
Personally I'm awaiting Xperia z2 before moving on from my HTC one.
The M7 is already such a great phone. I prefer the M7 over M8 as far as UI is concerned. I do struggle often with not having the SD slot as I often transfer apps/Tasker things between my phones a lot. I have to use OTG or bluetooth.

I made the switch and I love the M8, the build quality, new fit and finish, bigger screen, louder speakers, micro sd slot, dual camera, way better batterylife make it all worth it to me. I got mine off craigslist too (sealed and unopened for $560) beats $625 + tax from T-Mobile.

I dont have a EIP. I bought my last phone outright too (but from T-Mobile)
The phone was unopened and sealed and they told me that their sister (the one selling the phone) works at T-Mobile and was selling it and my guess is (from talking to my friend that works at T-Mobile) is they got it for cheap from HTC and turned around and sold it (HTC has promotions with T-Mobile employees (they do this every year) I am not worried.

Curious, by buying it second hand do you still have access to the HTC advantage insurance? Also any problems with warranty if something were to go wrong with it?
Those were the two issues that made me hesitant to pick up an M8 on craigslist, there were a few for sale a couple days even before they were released and I was actually pretty tempted to bite, but also the thought of EIP/stolen/lost blacklisted IMEI numbers scared me off.
my wife and son had m7's and I had one maxx on Sprint, but we switched to Tmo in February due to Sprints horrific network..
Now, they have G2's, and love them, and I have a LG Flex, that I dont like that much for a variety of reasons(zero development, no sd card, android 4.2), on my 3rd replacement right now, and would love to grab an M8, but have 3 more months to wait for my first Jump..
This phone looks like a home run, and I am blown away by how much development there is already for it!
Seems like it is a major upgrade from the M7 in alot of ways!!
Why would you get the Flex knowing 1st hand it was on an old software version and no micro SD card. I personally love the Flex minis the blue tooth issues with Netflix being a hair behind. Only reason of thinking on this phone.

LG G6 or HTC 10

Can't decide between the two.
Love HTC for Viper Rom and rooting
G6 seems like a great phone but no root for the dual sim version.
Both around £320
DJ. I'm in the same position so can def help you. I bought the G6 over the HTC simply because the G6 looked good and I thought the thing would eventually get unlocked and we'd have all kinds of custom rooms, etc but nothing just lots of crickets. The phone looks good but without root and roms it gets boring very fast.
I'm in the process of getting the HTC plus cash for the G6 . The HTC has great support and endless roms, trust me go for the HTC.
Let us know what you do !!
Cheers, LL
Also the screen size may be an issue, the HTC screen is bit small but looks mind-blowing.

The 10 is just much better than the U11 for some of us. Audio jack with amazing sound, full metal body, and manageable smaller size.
And no need to squeeze it

So long as as money isnt' a problem there is only one logical choice, otherwise why not just get an M9? Or an M8?
The increment in speed alone is reason enough to get it, plus the new feature set if thats your thing, form factor is subjective so each to their own, but on raw specs and what it can give there is only one clear winner.

I do not agree. The 10 is a much superior device than the M8 and M9, or HTC Hero :silly:
The U11 doesn't bring anything worth ditching the 10 in my opinion, it's even a downgrade in some aspects. But to each his own, as you say...

Phone size is a big factor for some people, camera performance too. But if customization is all you want then you already know the answer.

Lol no not if you already own a 10 no, that wouldn't imho be worth the leap, however the OP hasn't got a 10 has he?
Not sure if your first sentence is legit or not so i'll answer it anyway then put a silly face on just incase it wasn't.
I'm not saying that the 10 is in anyway the same or on par with the 8 9 or the awesome hero
But why say the 10 is better than the 11 for some of us? When given the choice it clearly is not, not in anyway, besides size perhaps ? Nothing else. :silly::silly::silly::silly::silly:

Actually the real question is why would you suggest a phone that wasn't even under consideration by the OP? We don't know why those are the only phones that are to be chosen between, and to suggest something that is almost double the price mentioned, that it "makes no sense" to not go with the 11, makes, well, no sense really.

It makes sense to me. Buying a last gen phone does not. LG G6 perhaps but development will be lacklustre, I suggested it because it DOES make sense and it is what I would do, either that or the one plus five which I've just bought about two hours ago.
Do what you will op you have my two cents.
Now I must be gone because the mediocrity of this thread and it's responses hath caused me to obtain Forrest Whittaker eye and I fear it may be permanent should I remain.. eth.

I got my HTC 10 2months ago. LG G6 was the other phone I was considering. Eventually I picked the HTC, because I wanted a compact device with capacitive buttons and fingerprint scanner on the front. So it's mainly due to the usability concerns. Also the $200 price gap between the HTC and LG (DS version with DAC which I was considering) mattered.
I don't think that the speed difference would be noticeable in the daily use. The HTC's camera is on pair. LG has double back lens, but HTC has rear OIS which is nice.
I am happy with my choose. The only thing that is making me wonder is that it's getting a little to hot a little too fast (can get to 37* C during nornal use, just by browsing the web with Opera). My old Samsung Note 3 wasn't getting as hot. Other than that I have no complains.

Not a fan of the all glass body on the U11, and I expect the constant polling of the side sensors will affect battery drain. Also, If the sensors get out of whack they could be triggered by simply putting the phone in your pocket i.e. too sensitive. The HTC 10 is a well made phone. Build quality is excellent. Keeping my 10 as a backup phone, and getting a US unlocked, dual sim, 1+5.

Two phone numbers on the same phone is pretty cool.
I have a HTC-10 which I purchased second hand for a family member, it has been rooted and I installed LineageOS on it, apart from that I haven't used it all that much but compared to my Nexus 6P my initial thoughts are
Pros:
HTC-10 feels a little faster
Memory card slot
Cons:
Too small (personal preference I guess but I welcome the extra screen real-estate)
Not all stock features are supported in custom ROMs (for example slow motion video)
the speakers aren't as loud as the 6P,
The home button seems to have a slight delay between pressing and registering
The fingerprint sensor is in a terrible spot
I was looking at a LG G6 but the lack of community support means it's not an option for me.
I couldn't recommend either of them really... I'd find it hard pressed to recommend any phone at the moment (I am particular)

Have the 1+5 in my hand, got it today, don't know what all the bad reviews are about, it's a beast.
Selling my HTC 10 now Cheap I want rid of it.
U11 feels too plastic for me compared to the 10, my 10 on Leedroid is very fast, never had an issue, great sound, good camera etc. Going to look at LG V30 when it comes out, 10 will take some beating. I've dropped it 4 times and still looks awesome
I wouldn't buy the u11.
It's too big for me. and that is a big factor. Sure, I'd get used to it, but I want to use the device with 1 hand. The 10 I can still do this, the u11, I wouldn't. Also, a lot of wasted space that I hate. Samsung is winning in that perspective.
I don't like the plastic nor the missing headphone jack, either. I want these things, like the IR blaster, I miss that.
If I was to break my htc 10 tmw, and I do have enough $$ to get the u11 outright, I'd still buy a used 10 off swappa.
Also.. Verizon.. Doesn't have full support, is my understanding, which for that $$, I want.. and need.
my worthless .2 cents, lol
