I have noticed some of the custom roms don't have all the stock apps. Is there a way or a link to download certain stock apps such as Calculator, Calendar, Voice Recorder, etc.

This list was sent to me the other day to help me weed out apps and apks that I don't want. But it also has a link where you can download the apk files as well. Hope it helps.

Thanks for link can u tell me how to install I'm using cm9 and try by normal installation and with root explorer by changing permission nothing happen can any one tell that....

Drop them in /system/app. In Root Explorer, make sure the OWNER is set to root for both dropdowns, and also change the permissions on them to the same as one of your APKs already in /system/app. I can't remember if you have to install them the normal way or not - I think a reboot is all you need.
That list needs to be updated for our S2. There are things like
DMSForwarding
DMSLawmo
GBA Service
Would love to know what those are for.

I've wiped cache and downloaded stock gingerbread notification mod, vivow_stock_gingerbread_notification_bar_mod.zip but it does not seem to remove my GPS icon as it has for others. Any suggestions?

Is your current rom deodexed? That is a must in order for it to work.
It may not be. Is there a quick way to tell? Is there a simple process to deodex? The rooting process went fine, and I assumed this opened the phone to all mods, but I must have been wrong. I'll search for a good link to deodex unless you have a better suggestion. Thanks.

deodexing the ROM requires knowledge of using android kitchen and in a sense re-building the ROM, it's fairly simple if you know what you're doing. a good way to check if you'er rom is deodexed is with root explorer, and check out system/apps and if u see double things like MMS.apk and MMS.odex that odex, in deodex you would just see the mms.apk

The first question I guess would be are you running a custom rom? If not then you are not deodexed.

Yep, the .odex files are there, so I am NOT deodexed. Seems like it might not be worth the trouble to deodex. although I do have ROM manager backup and can reinstall if I severely screw up. I'm running the rooted 2.3.3 verizon gingerbread.
OK, Switched to VU 2.3.9 and now all seems to work fine! Thanks.

dont pay attention to the name of the apk i just replaced the font inside it with the font you wanted let me know if it works

Took me a few minutes to figure out how to install them as i never had a need until this phone.
Basically go to the thread link above on your phone and download the ones you want. Then in the browser, bring up the menu and go to More->Downloads and then click the fonts you downloaded and install them.
Then go into the phone Settings->Display-_Screen Display->Font Style.
Easy!

For all you guys who are missing apps in modified roms, here are the standard apps from the EUR XXLA2 Rom from Samsung.
They are all Deodexed except 3 of them.

Well its great to have this apps but I can't install them don't know why. I downloaded digital clock apk and I press to install and there is info that application was not installed. Its same with other applications. I have rooted phone and stock ROM 2.3.6 XXLA2

i dont think thats the way to install those
i think you only need to put those apk's in /system/app with root explorer or something similar

Is it safe to remove all these apps from my phone, without it malfunctioning?
This apps is not suitable for other firmwares, is it?

yet again , but this time for i9300
As old people know, Samsung contacts can only join 5 contacts from social app into one
here it is hacked and open to unlimited
I tested it on deodexed LF2 ROM and not sure if it will work on older versions!
so my CWM file will backup your original files in case of anything goes wrong !
Just make sure that u r rooted and flash via CWM
It should work on ODEX ROMs just delete odex files
Update: for LF6 , LFB

It's basically for when you are syncing contacts from exchange, Facebook, linked in, google and hax sync etc. This allows you to merge more than 5 contacts into one. If you dont use multiple syncs from different accounts then probably you don't need this mod.

try LF2 but backup just in case

Hi, i get an arror "App Not Installed" with both ODEX & DE-ODEX versions. can u please help me out as i wanna replace my gmail app with this one (lets me have accounts other than .. @gmail.com ) I'm on DModv6 (android 4.1.2)

no worries, guys. i made it work by copy/pasting the two apks in "system/app" Thanks for the APKs thought :cookie:
The First Link was the ODEXED ones which Means it is the original,pure original and not modified..
The Second Link was the DE-ODEXED, which is modified, you can search the topics using the search button why de-odexed..
The installation of this files are not Normal installation but you need to go to "system/app" folder like what koragg97 has done and set permissions to r-w-r-r..
Search before posting some problems, because it is answered in other topic,just use the search button provided to us.
