Is there a way to replace sense 1.0 on rooted htc wildfire with sense 2.1 ?
or the only way is to flash a custom rom ?

Did u flash it with recovery 2.5.x.x because it will not be flashed by other versions of CWM.
Make sure to take a nandroid backup of your current ROM,if you dont like or face any sort of issue then that backup will restore your previous things...

Wipe your ROM and data reset it. Then flash the 2.1 look. See if it works then.

Just about the only way to fully replicate functionality (as far as I know) is to flash a custom ROM. It's not as hard as it sounds, just look up a Sense ROM (there's a listing in this very forum!) and flash it (look for a guide or check the IRC if you're having trouble).

Try looking in that thread's "Sense-based" section. However, the newest Gingerbread (3.5) version of Sense in a ROM is with this one. However, that's not even close to final (as far as I know), so, if you want something more stable, try a Sense 2.x ROM.
Try this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631996&page=17.
I think, that is the most complete sense 2.1 rom.
Ohh, sometimes the launcher is starting, it will show the HTC logo and look as if it is on the splash screen, but that could be entirely different. Wait for 10 minutes, if nothing works then flash KoolSense. The dev seems to have lots of stuff working, kudos to him

This is an hboot flashable version of the Desire-Z ROM built for the G2. If you're rooted and know what you're doing with hboot, read on. To install, rename the download to PC10IMG.zip and place it at the root of your sdcard, then reboot into hboot. It'll flash ONLY SYSTEM and BOOT. I'll post more details shortly but everything I am testing works. Sorry for the crappy picture, I am frantically typing to make things happen.
http://twitgoo.com/1qjp6v
Quick overview (this is way below my normal release quality but I've not had much time and am rushing a bit):
Pre-rooted with Superuser from ChainsDD.
Busybox installed in /system/xbin.
Removed apps to allow the ROM to fit on the G2:
AdobeReader.apk
amazonmp3.apk
FlashLitePlugin.apk
FlashLitePlugin.odex
install_flash_player.apk
Maps.apk
Quickoffice.apk
SoundHound_Freemium_2.1.2b.apk
Stock.apk
Stock.odex
teeter.apk
teeter.odex
YouTube.apk
Most of these apps can be installed from the Market. Everything else is completely stock as it exists on the Desire-Z.
THIS IS NOT MEANT FOR JOE AVERAGE USER. PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH HBOOT FLASHING THEN STEER CLEAR UNTIL WE HAVE A FUNCTIONAL RECOVERY.
LINKS PULLED AS THIS ROM IS NOW OBSOLETE. Visit the following thread instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=837042
Enjoy!
FIRST i hope.....
downloading and flashing now
Would i be able to root it after flashing it with the current g2 method ?
Bring virtuous to the g2 please
yay... this is all I wanted
also thank you!!!
Thanks for this i'm downloading now
Absolutely awesome. Thanks so much for this.
So if we're already rooted should we just install visionary to get root first then lock it in?
This is going to be fun...
nice job, but damn work. i just got home and was planning on doing this, so u beat me to it ...
did u modify system so it would fit on g2 partition?

That's exactly what I did. Uploading another version now which has less removed and is pre-rooted.
rmk....Ive been following what youve been saying about the rom on irc since sense 2.0 on my g2 is all i wanted.
could you possibly post a "change log" which would just list things that youve removed from the rom that people might want to know (search app, etc).
Also, is the rom working as fast as the g2 worked or is it like when we first put sense on the g1?
Third to last question, in case something goes wrong with installation or if I want to go back to the vanilla, is there a rom I can flash to go back to vanilla or am I stuck with desire z rom until someone makes one? Also do we have to clear data/cache like we normally do before flashing another rom or what?
second to last question, by installing in hboot, you mean rebooting into hboot then going into recovery to install or what do you mean?
Last question, are the keys mapped correctly or are they desire keys?
Please answer these questions, I want to make sure I know what I am getting into before I plunge. Thanks for all the work!!
P.S - sorry for all the questions.

I dont like senes but like learning. I thought the z and vision had the same chip? So shoukdnt it had fit in the nand? Also eont the pc10img flash a lock down hboot? Or you swapped it out and having s-off means it doesnt look for a sign?

Yeah of course, it's completely different software. Rule of thumb= similar software(plain froyo->plain froyo), no wipe; different software(sense -> stock, stock -> 2.3, etc), wipe

the g2 overclock will be lost when flashing the z boot img. however if u know how to compile from source here is a oc and voltage changed boot that will work on sense

I haven't delved much into custom ROMs yet - but AFAIK you should be able to just run this straight over the top - it will remove root etc. right back to stock

Cell info:
Bravo PVT1 S-on
Radio: 5.11.05.27
HBOOT: 0.93.0001

Baseband version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27

This is all the information I could find for the cell. Dont know what any of it means The RUU I got from another section is: RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5.exe
Can I install this RUU on my phone to return it to STOCK FROYO?

Use some logic...the RUU file is an .exe, which is a Windows program. This would mean you have to run it on Windows. Then you'd be presented with instructions for the rest. Use a little common sense
why not try another custom rom . it's great fun

As above - it actually has full instructions while running the RUU.
but for basics you click something like 'I agree to return my phone back to the stock image, and confirm that I know it will wipe all user data etc. etc'
Then click accept to 'I agree that it must be above 50% battery life, and connected to the PC via USB cable' - then I think it verifies that it can find the phone, then says something about it will replace the current image with the stock image (2.29.405.5), then basically just says wait a couple of minutes, your phone reboots and flashes for a few minutes (I think with a big HTC logo and a progress bar), then when it's done it says DONE! and your phone reboots into the welcome wizard as if you turned it on for the first time...

But glad you got it working the easy way by just flashing a froyo over the gingerbread.

Just out of curiosity, are you going back to stock for warranty reasons or because your selling the phone?
If not did you know that there are custom stock roms which allow you to keep all the benefits of root and have a stock rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318 Look in this thread for Sense based roms (Rempuzzle or DK custom rom being the best 2) and if you need any help flashing them post here, someone will help.

You don't need to unroot to flash a new Rom, most roms are already pre-rooted, a stock Rom would need rooting, busybox a custom kernel etc etc installing the stock roms I mentioned would already have that part done for you and can be flashed from clockwork mod recovery, just download a sense based Rom put it on your sd card then reboot into recovery by powering off the phone, then press volume down and power to get to hboot use the volume buttons to select recovery then press power, once in recovery perform a backup, then select wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache, next choose install zip from sd card and find the rom, install it then reboot into your fresh new HTC sense Rom.
Those roms are custom though so they do have a few slight differences to a fully stock Rom such as new wallpapers that kind of thing.

Use the link i posted above
- Dowload the RUU
- Connect your phone to PC and run RUU
- This will downgrade your phone OS to eclair (android 2.1)
- Let it do the bizniss and when it boots and says finished on your PC,
you will have a ****ty phone. (but dont worry) because this is what
you want
- If it doesnt work, use another RUU and run it. Just make sure it says
2.1.x.x.x in the title to make sure u go back to android 2.1. and not
1.4 or something.
You will not have CM7 after this, or any remnants of it, it will just look like basic android. It will not be branded, i.e. it will not have t-mobile splattered all over it.

i am back on the old htc wildfire! S-ON, unrooted, stock rom and stock settings =) If someone had the same problem as me then PM me and i'll give you some links or make a guide for you guys that have the same problem as me =) If someone tells you : " You cannot get back to stock ROM " They are lying. And if they say: " You can download custom roms that is like the stock ROM but is not stock ROM " Then DONT! download the custom ROM. Sometimes it ****s up your phone. Anyways. My problem is solved =) Thanks to everyone who helped me =) Except Arkoze and Usaff22.

Lmao I'm glad you solved your problem but can I just say how much of an asshole I think you are! Everyone who has posted in this thread have just been trying to help you achieve what you wanted to do or like myself offer an alternative which would involves less work when rerooting your device which you did say you wanted to do.
Custom sense roms do not **** up phones especially the 2 I mentioned, its muppets like yourself that don't read instructions carefully and thoroughly, before I rooted my device I made sure I had all the tools and know how to put it all back to stock beforehand. Perhaps you should do the same next time.
General Information
Since everything here is on fire because of the sense jellybean leaked firmware and many are crying that they do not have the appropriate CID to flash the new firmware, and some also replied to my post they are not able to boot with that UNOFFICAL and BETA METHOD i decided to write this short guide.
At first, i do not think that the rom flashed with this method is working as a daily for you, more a preview for when the devs found a way to bring the update also to carrier branded phones.
Things that are reported to work with trips 3.4.11 kernel but not with his 3.1.10 kernel are:
- Usb storage ( )
Things that will not work are:
- Sound
- Youtube App
- Wifi Dropouts, not for me but another person mentioned it
This method does not update your hboot. So you´re safe to go back. And one more time, this is just meant as a preview for now, so dont expect the full jellybean experience. be lucky that we have trip and can at least boot this
So here will be the general instructions for all jellybean sense roms.
1. Download your favourite jellybean sense rom and put it on your sdcard
A few of them:
ARHD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603 (not available for now)
IC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588669
Maximus: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601543
Ordroid: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836919
2. Download trips kernel from here: http://tripndroid.bindroidroms.com/TripNDroid_RVISED_3.4.11-002.zip put one copy on your phones sdcard and one on your pc
3. Repack trips boot.img found in the previously downloaded .zip with the ramdisk from the kernel which is included in your rom that you downloaded in the first step using this nice little tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815607
Put the repacked boot.img in your fastboot folder
4. Boot your phone into fastboot mode and flash the repacked boot.img you downloaded using following commands
------> fastboot flash boot boot.img
------> fastboot erase cache
5. after this boot into custom recovery and perform a full wipe (including system, data, cache, dalvik)
6. flash your rom (just in case: tick none of the options in aroma)
7. flash modules from trips kernel which you placed in step 2 on your sdcard
8. boot into your jellybean preview.
Credits to shnizlon for the rom, to TripNRaVeR for his 3.1.10 kernel that offers this possibility , finally to chrisoverson for online repacker
I´m not responsible for anything you do to your phone!

Hi a few people have confirmed that it works, but there are some bugs as stated in the op, so you can give it a try to see what all the fuss is about and so that you don't have to feel totally left out, but currently it can't really be used as a daily driver

Already try it one the day 2.0.0 out.. but the most i hate is no in call sound.
about sd bug, I think it is because of vold.fstab, as the sd mount is different as ICS, that why it not detected in JB.
I tried this last night, and YES it does work.
However it's pretty unusable and i ended up flashing back to viperX. Still it was nice to sample Jelly Bean.
I'm on T-MOB005 UK

Every JB sense rom boot using trip kernel, just repack it and flash.. Already try all JB ROM, but no fun for me, as it is too buggy for unsupported CID.
@OP : Why don't you change the thread to "how to flash Sense JB on unsupported CID device" as it could boot all JB Sense ROM.

i did it exactly as i described in the op yesterday in the evening and there were the bugs i explained above
your hboot is not upgraded while youre doing this procedure so you can easily flash back
and i also mentioned it´s most likely only for preview!
I try it my cid is t-mob101 and it work Sense jelly bean is nice but i have the Radio Bug..it works only if the screen is on...when it is locked and i turn it on i have Signal Bars but in lockscreen it shows no signal...it is Bad...but the hole rom is nice ..i hope someone fix the bugs

it could but the boot.img i provided is only for ordroid. i don´t think it will boot with insertcoin or arhd as they made custom ramdisk modifications. But you´re right, basically if you repack trips kernel with the jb sense roms kernel ramdisk it will boot i think
I will update the thread in the evening i´m busy now because i have to break up my grandmother´s garden that sounds funny and i hope it´s correct

why you need RUU or stock recovery? This is the same way to flash custom rom with our own choice kernel.

Thanks
just thinking out loud......did you try another rom, JB or ICS....so that we know if it might be kernel related !
But it's weird how touch in recovery also doesn't work. Recoveries don't run on top of kernels afaik.

he PMed me, i also suggested to reflash the firmware.zip....i had a similar thing only the guy lost signal and data, i suggested to redownload the firmware and reflash it.....guess what.....problem solved in his case. that's why i think it might be the firmware because when it is rom related the recovery should turn up right. and it all starts with the hboot.....my guess
My touch was working in Clock Work Mod before I did the Hboot 1.39 update(Had Hboot 1.12 before)
Hey Guys, I have the same issue. reverted back to stock for official OTA after the update (now on H boot 1.39 HTC_023) unlocked and flashed recovery. No touch. Didn't bother trying a Rom.
Ok so asked another member for help who had the problem he said
"Yea mate we all have that problem, Something to do with the kernal and driving the touch screen. It only works with the new H boot and STOCK rom. Recovery & any custom rom you loose touch.... I had to restore my factory sense rom too.
Will I have to restore to stock or something?
For now only the stock Rom works fine with regards to touch.
You can get a nandroid backup of stock rom for your cid here if you don't have one backed up.
