So after the, disappointing, EVO 4G LTE announcement today, I decided to not only give sprint a call but hit them up on chat at the same time.
I made sure it was clear to them that I would leave sprint if they didn't carry the original HTC One x and NOT just the EVO 4G LTE simply because of the design..
The original HTC One X is by far the nicest phone I have ever seen and it would be a deal breaker if Sprint only carried the EVO 4G LTE.
If more and more people call and or chat Sprint and let them know they should carry the HTC One X or you will switch carriers for it (lying or not) maybe they will consider carrying both the EVO 4G LTE AND the Original HTC One X.
Please people lets get the Original One X to Sprint!!

That's not gonna happen dude sorry. I think sprint is really happy with the Evo 4G LTE.
So you don't want a larger battery, micro sd card and dedicated camera button on your phone which will probably go in a case ?

I normally get a case when I get a new phone but have had the Epic Touch since release without a case and still looks new...
Yea I could care less for larger batter, micro sd, or the camera button. The One X looks soooo much nicer then the EVO LTE..

Though I understand a bit where your coming from. How can you not care much about the bigger battery etc???
I thought it was going to be bigger honestly, around 2500mah but 2000mah is still good for a stock phone. No joy in a phone that won't last the day through heavy usage
SD card doesn't matter as much only because the thing already has 32GB and dropbox storage (I think).
Camera button is welcome, especially when the thing has a beast of a camera and can take them at crazy speeds, 4FPS on that thing is crazy.
The only design choice I think was a smart one, was reducing how much the camera protruded. Otherwise, yea it's uglier haha
what?! i thought the Evo 4G LTE is like the more perfect balanced One X! Saw the specs and am envious.

Well, he's mainly making the choice because of the design, which I agree is kinda ugly compared to the original One X.
But yea, there's no way they're carrying both phones. Not a chance no matter how many people call.
honestly, i like the original design as well. i was pretty bummed out when sprint changed the original design.
i currently have the galaxy s2 and i was quite disappointed when sprint decided to release a 4.5" screen rather than the original 4.3.
why do carriers do this? if the phones had the original design, it would be much easier to look for accessories such as screen protectors, cases, and sleeves.
i remember when i first got my phone, i had to wait for a decent case to be readily available since the case manufacturers only carried the european/asian version of the phone. i wish the phones can be kept consistent with the original designs.
evo is better in many respects... cant believe people are willing to sacrifice functionality for style.. sounds like an iphone user
If I call them it will be to give them an atta boy. I think that phone is outstanding.
I actually thought the EVO was a beauty. Way better in design and function than the One X, but thats just me.
Well I wouldn't get to bent out of shape because normally with sprint flagship phones a white one is released a little down the road. Which if I had to guess would look more similar to the one x. But I don't think the E4gL looks that horrible that I would wait for the white one. I like it actually and throw in the changes and I think its a winner. Now if only it was so easy to be able to wait it out for this or SGS3...choices.

...Wow. You're definitely in the minority with those priorities (maybe not the camera button, which I'm not convinced is even that based on the press conference). But good news! You can buy an unlocked One X and give Sprint another call, maybe they'll activate it for you (since you're already on their "nice" list, I'm guessing).
I agree with the sentiment that this thing will be in a case anyway, and I'm not wearing my phone around my neck so others will see it and get jealous or something. What am I, an iPhone user?

Hi Guys,
I don't know if this question has been asked here before or not, and please spare me on the flaming if it has, but what are your honest opinions about trading in a Droid Incredible for an Evo?
Personally, I love my Incredible, and don't think there is anything wrong with it. I just wish it had some things that the Evo did.
Factors that matter to me and I am considering the Evo for:
1. Largest screen
2. Front facing Camera
3. HDMI port
Factors that scare me, or keep me from an Evo:
1. I have heard the size is really uncomfortably big, is this true?
2. I heard the battery life is horrible on the Evo! Personally I think the battery life on the Incredible is nothing special either, but I heard it's really bad on the Evo. I almost never use 3/4G or data, and just use WiFi very little, so this might not be a big deal for me.
I am sorry for writing this post without actually having an Evo in my hand, but it's sold out in my local stores. I intend to just ask for a trade on Craig's List or buy it from Ebay, if I get positive responses...
Also, 4G is negligible for me, since I will be using it on the Verizon network. Thanks for all your help, guys! I really appreciate your help!!
Dont really see any use for a larger screen, HDMI port or front facing camera.
I would get the samsung galaxy S for verizon when it comes out, its screen is in the middle of size betwen the dInc and evo. I dont believe it has HDMI out or front facing camera. Also EVO is on sprint and i know sprint by my sucks the fat one. I would rather stay on VZW.
I've held the evo. Its fat. I mean its cool, the front facing camera is awesome, and the HDMI out is awesome. But its fat. I mean.... obese...
Hmm, it's funny, but not completely unexpected the responses I am getting for the same post in the Evo forum versus the DInc.
So for your guys it really comes down to the size, huh? I thought about the Galaxy S, but other than the screen quality on that thing, I am not too attracted to it. Something about a Samsung product, just never sounded right to me (even though our DInc screens might be Samsung, huh )? Plus, I love Sense, I don't think there is a better implementation of Android, so far, in terms of the UI, than Sense.
Front facing camera is really the biggest force pulling towards the Evo. The screen is also a huge component, cause, it's the biggest in so far (other than Dell Streak, which I don't care for).
Since we're here, why not make the inevitable comparison and ask abou the Droid X... what do you guys think ?
Thanks for all your posts!

Huh? did I miss something?
ummm... how will you use it on the verizon network? the evo is locked to sprint even though its a cdma phone... and pls dont talk abot flashing the IMEIs. Its dangerous (not sure if its illegal or whatever) but certainly can brick your phone. A 4.3" screen brick with HDMI, and a front camera will still be a brick. If u want a bigger screen - i would recommend the droid x, even though it does not feel as sweet as the htc phones. Cant help with the front facing camera - seems none of the VZ phones have that.
Verizon's getting the EVO. Yippi

Nope, no way. Don't want a phone that big (same goes for the Droid X), and I sure as hell don't want Sprint.
(You asked for an honest opinion )
why would anyone want to pay 10 dollars extra a month for a 4g that is pretty spotty at the moment and not available everywhere?
The LCD screen of the EVO is no match for the AMOLED display of the incredible.
Other than that.. if you are OK with switching to sprint network over VZW.. then go for it.
I think he means he'll be using VZW towers, since Sprint phones use VZW service if they're out of range of their own towers.
I think...
Or I could be wrong. I usually am.
Either way, in response to your original post, here's my issue. I took a look at the Droid X and left the store very happy with my Incredible, for the same reason I wouldn't buy an Evo. Simply put, you can't use the phone in one hand. Unless you have gigantic thumbs, there is no way you can manipulate the entire screen with your thumb, while holding the phone in the same hand. It's not a question of the phone feeling too bulky. It will still fit in your pocket just fine. It's not an iPad (with wings) after all. It really comes down to whether or not you use your phone one handed or not. If you always hold it, and manipulate the screen with the index finger of your other hand, great. Get the Evo. If not, you'll hate it.

No flame here, but i'm curious as to what exactly youre using the phone for besides calls.
On a different note, considering the large screen and front facing camera are the two deciding factors for you, i would say stick with the incredible. I promise you the EVO isnt gonna be the last phone with these features. im sure the next phone to have these 2 features will utilize them much better than the EVO does.
I went the opposite way. I had an evo and returned it for an incredible.
The phones are more similar than different. Battery life was pretty much the same. No major differences in performance, though the inc seems a tiny bit more responsive.
I didnt see any use for hdmi out on the evo - I already have an htpc connected to the tv for viewing anything online. I've had front facing cameras on every laptop I've owned on the last 5 years and never really used it so not a real advantage for me.
Size wise the inc is more comfortable, but the evo is not too big.
I'm in a 4g city, but at home and work 4g performance was no better than 3g.
Rate plans for me were very close in costs, though Sprint was more flexible.
I returned the evo due to WiFi range issues and general concerns that I'd bought a multimedia device that happened to be a smartphone when what I really wanted was a smartphone that could occasionally play multimedia.
Add in Versions option for 1 year contracts, and the inc was a better fit for me.
ok so my evo 4g started having problems part of the screen went dead so i couldn't
tap numbers 4,5,6 and some letters also the usb port won't allow it to be charged anymore with the normal charger it came with i have to use my external drive usb cord to charge it on my pc
i shipped it to htc and i waited a week with no response so i call them to find out it has water damage and it be would be 300 to fix this wouldnt be a big deal if i had actually dropped it in water or ever laid it in something wet
i would had believed them more if they said it was dropped but water damage -_- i'm not going for that
so what new phones are coming out that are going to be better then the evo?
i have checked out the atrix 4g sgs2 and lg3d
wait for evo2
lmao evo2
if there is actually any evidence of a evo 2 link me to it and i would gladly wait
there is evidence of an evo 3d. first, an anonymous leak. then, go to now.sprint.com/evo3d and get linked to homepage. enter anything else after / and get 404 error. htc released evo at ctia, and thats next week. i'd wait.
yeah i will wait having phone shipped back
called them and tried to tell them it wasn't water damage -_- they wouldn't listen
so i got it shipped back >.> very excited to get another new phone though >.>
the evo3d better have monster specs
I am hoping the new HTC-Pyramid is the EVo2, or this phone is coming to Sprint.

It is supposed to, but the Nexus-One took like 2+ months before the official upgrade came out, while the Nexus-S was the sole 2.3 Gingerbread phone for a couple of months.
I am not too confident that the Nexus-S will be first in line to get the next big OS update. I see them coming out with a Nexus-3.0 first phone running "ice Cream" then later on down the road the Nexus-S will get that update, and then the Nexus-One.
I thought Google was going to do it differently ? If there is a "nexus" brand phone, it should get the newest OS right away, that was the whole point of the phone. But the Nexus-S came out with 2.3, and all the Nexus-One owners just kept waiting and waiting, for a few months. That was not cool.
i really enjoy my evo so if it were me, id replace it.
ctia next week should show us something that will prolly launch come summer time. possibly a wimax enabled nexus s if you like sammy mobile devices.
Did the litmus paper on the battery get wet? It should be pink.
ooohhh htc shooter sounds sexy maybe 3d?
sorry to dig up an old thread, but there's no point in making a new one. I've had random issues with my evo and want to upgrade, but i really like mine and the active community behind it. Any other phones have as many devs working on them like we do here? i'd really like to stick with HTC
I'm also thinking of upgrading...phone of choice after research seems to be the Galaxy S II...I just read the side by side comparison vs. the iphone 4s and the verizon droid and the S II gives the best of all worlds.

A bit taller and a bit thinner. The body itself is a bit thicker, but it has the same thickest point as the og evo because the cam doesn't stick out as much. This makes it feel better in the hand, more solid. Same weight I think.

What is everyone planning to get as their next phone? I love my Incredible but the last couple of days, I've been getting FC's left and right and strange errors, missing texts and calls, random reboots, etc.... I think it's on its last days .... I'm eligible for a new phone but didn't want to get one until now ..... any recommendations for a new phone? I haven't really seen any announcements for the next big phone from Verizon and 4G phones kill your battery and are overrated (IMO) right now.
Well, if you're staying with Verizon there's the Droid Bionic, their Galaxy SII variant and the HTC Vigor. Granted, you'll have to wait a month or two for em, but they should be worth it.
If you don't plan on staying with Verizon there's always the Nexus Prime.

If you've got 4G where you're at, it's really nice, so nice I'd NEVER go back to 3G, but it's also heavily ROM and radio dependent as to how it eats your battery. 4G on my Tbolt is basically as good as 3G on my dInc is. If you could care less about 4G, the BEST 3G device to be had is the dInc2. I never even thought about charging that thing most of the time. The battery just keeps going and going. 2 days, easy.
My re-up time is coming up in late November, and I'm looking at the Vigor or Bionic. The stats we're seeing on the Vigor are awesome. Dual core running at 1.5g, front facing camera is 2mp, and 4g. The only thing I'll need are extra batteries
Sent from my Incredible droid via XDA Premium App
my last early upgrade happens the first week of September, at this point there is nothing available from big red that excites me. My next phone must be a dual core LTE phone. but I'm thinking of waiting until November or so, Vigor sounds promising so far.
My DINC still rocks, so there is really no hurry.
I'm in the same boat as the OP. Tons of FC's and SMS and MMS not showing up even after full wipes X 3 and fresh installs from the market. Recently I can't find a ROM that runs smoothly on my device.
I have my eyes on the SGII or the Vigor, but it's going to be tough holding on for that long... I'm ready now.

Galaxy SII, HTC Vigor....but most likely the Nexus Prime if it comes to Verizon
I'll be keeping my Dinc until a good phone with native PC dock support comes out on Verizon (unless another network with great coverage like Sprint gets it first). Then I'll never need another laptop.
Would love the next nexus phone, but I'd bet money it won't be on the "largest high-speed wireless network in America." So the it will be the Cativate 2 or maybe the Bionic....

I want something with a similar footprint (3.7") to Dinc — my Dinc2 is too big for my liking. Funny, some low-end droids (samsung iirc) had similar footprint to Dinc. I just like HTC phones though, so I'm waiting for another >4" HTC, or buy [lightly used] Dincs from eBay until phones stop trending so huge (over 4.3" they might as well be a tablet!)

I seriously doubt you'll ever see anything as tiny as the dInc from HTC again. The EVO Shift is probably as small as you're going to get from here on out. As the screens get more efficient, I think you're going to see them trend up to roughly 4.3 inches or so and hang out right about there. 5" is WAY too big. Apple has got to be realizing that resolution only matters so much and you're only going to sell phones with postage stamp sized touch screens for so long before you're the ONLY one doing it. Since the dInc is gone, they really ARE the ONLY ones doing it. Sorry, but that's just how it is.
I'm really impressed with the Galaxy SII but I love me some HTC phones. I can't upgrade until the end of December so I have plenty of time to go crazy for the latest and greatest phone only to see it trashed in the forums until the next big thing comes along.
I'll probably fall in love with at least 3 phones before it is over with.
I'm not getting another new release phone. This next one will have to be out for a while before I buy it - I'm tired of being the guinea pig.
Only 3 more posts until I hit my 10.

That's why I'm going to try to hang onto my dIncs as long as possible. But I think there'll always be a market for small sleek gadgets, including phones. If I _had_ to choose a replacement today, I suppose I'd go with one of the samsung skinnies (not a samsung fan), but I'd have every expectation that htc would remember it's sleek design roots!
I bought this as a stop gap until more 4G phones came out..but I'm growing to like this phone a lot

I'm happy with my Incredible so far but my only issue is with battery life. Would like a Incredible 2 but it just doesn't feel like a big update. The only thing that would make me jump on the incredible 2 is if it had a dual core and maybe a better camera also. Will always love anything that is running ASOP android. Don't need sense or anything fancy like that. Hoping the Nexus Prime comes to verizon. Maybe?
I hope this comes true. I would pounce immediately.

i came from the evoLTE to the GS3 and if I were you I would stick with the GS3 or get the note2.. or.. get the note2 and let me buy it from you and ill give you my GS3 plus cash .. Anyways the reason I stayed with the GS3 is because my EvoLTE had the bend problem. Like so many others have had. Also the kickstand always wanted to come unscrewed. Plus the GS3 is just so much smoother, and the EvoLTE external speaker sucks compared to the GS3.
Of course I did like the phyical camera button on the EvoLTE. Plus the screen was beautiful. But like I said before.. The build quality might look better in person. But if you put the two against each other head to head the GS3 will come out on top because plastic is always more giving.
I actually just came from the lte, great phone but doesnt compare to the GSIII, which really surprised me. I loved HTC devices after the original evo served me well, I moved onto the Epic touch and it was a terrible experience for me, gps and location services were soooooo bad with that phone, it made me swear off ever owning another Samsung device. I ended up getting the evo lte in August, which I promptly rooted (biggest pain in the a$$) well the screen starting going whack few weeks ago, returned it to Best Buy and because they didnt have any evos they replaced it with a GSIII, I was and still am blown away by this device, Samsung has a beast on their hands with this thing!! imo the GSIII is a better device, and I was team HTC all the way until the day I got the GSIII
dont : i personally like evo lte more than s3 ( yeah i know : shoot me )
but evo lte always gave me great data speed and 0 signal loss .
but memory is low on that phone and htc is messing with users since jb update , making it freakin hard foe S-On folks.
my advise wait another month and see whats s4 is gonna be , or get a note 2 : ace phone

The One is definitely a good choice. I got the Evo LTE last November, and I don't regret it at all. If you want to save $100, choose the LTE. HOWEVER, the long term benefits surely goes to the One

Yeah, we'll see what happens. I might end up at AT&T, but I won't know for sure for about at least a month, so I'll be with this device a little longer than expected. But, that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I'll probably end up with the One.
Im going the HTC one as its a flagship. the evo was a flagship witch is why it was sutch a damn beast for so long ^^.
i already got my one its coming either today or tommorow and im extremely impatiently excited XD. had to convince my father on the one though he wanted to get the s4 x_x quickly showed him why not too.

dont take my reasons the wrong way the s4 is a good phone. its just there are better roms for the HTC one in my opinion atleast.

This rarely happens on XDA, but honestly, I completely agree. The S4 may have more bells and whistles, maybe a little bit faster of a processor, but it's nothing you would notice.
Also, if you take in the hardware, software, and everything together: I truly believe that the One has a better build quality all across the board and is a better phone.

its display has better brightness on it. its 1080x1920 super LCD display AND its got amazing audio on it.
went with the one because what i experienced from most phones in sunlight you cant see the damn screen XD on the one witch its better display you can...kinda havnt actually tried as i get to send my damn phone back before i even got it out of its box." tmobile goofed some things up" the i get to wait another 6 days >.> for it in the mail.
there alot of selling points that sold me in the htc one not just the body material or the screen or the audio.
ALSO, the s4 and one have the same CPU but they can both be overclocked ive heard people say that they have gotten the one clocked above 1.9ghz :3 however thatd take a massive toll on the 2300mAh battery XD
My next device is the Sprint Galaxy S3, which I just bought on eBay. I'll use it daily and for ROM building. This means I'll quit building for the OG (almost completely) before the end of the week.

Lol, but in all seriousness that just means myself and others will have to step up!! Thanks for all the work you've done for the OG, man!!
Im still on the EVO OG lol still running well minus the speaker sounds like crap. I honestly dont feel a need to upgrade yet since 4gLTE is not even available in this area....Once 4g LTE is up and running solid I will upgrade. I find my EVO OG with a custom ROM runs pretty well compared to even phones that are new...Sprint hurry up with that 4gLTE service...

They are horribly slow with this rollout, aren't they?
One of the many reasons I will most likely end up going to AT&T by the end of the year.
Moto XFON, anyone?
I really like to hear about the Moto X, and today more stuff leaked. Maybe we'll be hearing something tomorrow as this teaser ad talks about the 4th of July and 'Merica.
The concept excites me, and I hope that they release more soon. Here's the full read.
This Rollout?! WHat about the original EVO 4g rollout? Lol I never even had 4g in my area so Im not upgrading to a 4gLTE phone until its 100% in this area or Im switching carriers.
