hi there
i'm a happy owner of a HTC Desire, but i'm looking for a new phone...
after some research i focused on two device:
HTC Sensation (300€ used)
PRO:
-CPU underclocked
-Look (IMHO)
HTC EVO 3D (300€ new)
PRO:
-3D (which means better screen)
-RAM
both will remain stock for about 5 minutes..
which would you reccommend?
thanks in advance
I would only replace my desire with HTC one. Maybe also desire s.
HTC one x. quadcore phone check on HTC site
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
HTC one x is around 700€...is more than double the devices i mentioned!
From those two, id get the Evo 3D just because i find the 3D pretty cool (yet a little bit gimmicky.)
Also its going for just over £200 here which is about 230 euros i think so maybe look around and see if you get it cheaper. Ebay?
the cheapest evo in ebay is around 400€ in italy!
this (www elettrotop com/ElettroTop/SchedaArticolo.action?articolo=0128441) is the best price i've found...
just a question...
the sensation cpu is 1.5ghz underclocked to 1.2ghz...what about the evo's one?

Are you talking about Sensation XL or what? Where did you get that information about underclocking?

If I were you, I will check the XDA or other forums for your future phone. Without checking, I think Sensation would have more roms to play with. 3D phones aren't that many, only 2.

i've read somewhere that the only difference from sensation and sensation xe/xl (same hardware) is the clock of the cpu..1.5ghz for the xe/xl and 1.2ghz for the basic one...

yes..this is a point for the sensation..however i don`t like ports...maybe with the ics rollout the modding scenario will grow!!

Ye, but those are single core cpu, at least in the XL case. Sensation has dual core processor at 1.2ghz.
Basically you could consider XL as overclocked DHD.

At this point Sensation is just shy of one year old. Modding community can go only towards being worse.

Some of the desire devs, like robocik or baadnws, moved to the sensation after getting the phone. So I'm sure they'll maintain it for some time, but as quoted, it is already going to be 1 year soon. Same with EVO 3d. But for EVO 3d, if there are only 2 roms, there probably won't be more.
I'm thinking since ice scream sandwich is an overhaul of android that the HTC one, galaxy nexus, gs3 would be a good choice.
If ur only choice are those two tho, make sure there is a Rom you like for that phone. Specs and screen are nice, but you'll be dealing with the interface a lot too.

Robocik and baadnwz jumped over to the dual core scene as soon as they went retail. I'm inclined to believe that it will be the same with quads.

well...i've bought the HTC Evo 3D....
I've found a ROM that fit my needs...and maybe the lack of ROM for the GSM version will force me to try to make one for myself!
Is it possible to grab the keyboard and transitions from sense 4.0 and use them on sense 2.1 or something?
We are still waiting for the release of the HTC one v. It has the same specs of the EVO so once that is released everyone will be pulling it apart like vultures lol

Most probably, i doubt they'll drop development of a device only released last year with such great specs, it'd be stupid. Plus even if they drop official development... we're in XDA, the possibilities are endless lmfao.

Yeah, HTC metioned somewhere (cant find it) that flagship devices are ALWAYS supported for atleast 2 years from release.
If sense 5 comes before the 2 year then HOX should get it.

Your definition of supported might include new android releases, but I don't think "support" necessarily imply free OS upgrades...

That's exactly what they did to the Desire about a year after it was released. We got an update from 2.1 to 2.2 and that was the end of that. Kept being promised an update for 2.3 for a couple of months both by HTC and my provider, 3 Network and in the end they ditched it and the entire Desire platform. Which brought me to root my phone and install Cm7 on it and try out a whole host of other roms

Sense 4+ come in about 18 months of sensation Launch and here we are with 3.6, no update until now.
idk
i dont even think if its coming to htc one x, i dont think so because the jellybean didnt roll out to the other one series as well, only on the one x so i really dont know
The HTC One X is a flagship device, I bet it will continue to be developed for the foreseeable future.
Sent from my HTC One X
Usually htc will upgrade previous flagship device with their newer os but with different sense. Just like the evo 3d and sensation that upgraded to ics but with sense 3.6 unlike one x that comes along with sense 4.0. So maybe we'll get sense 4.6 rather than sense 5?

I fall in love with the new sense 5, but I'm thinking to buy a one x in order to wait for a lower price of the new one...
I already have htc sensation, the flagship of two years ago that don't received the sense 4 when htc one x and one s was released, and I'm pretty sure that one x won't receive the official sense 5.. maybe it will be update to android 4.2 and a light "sense 4.5", but nothing else in my opinion! I don't know if I should buy this device and use it for the next 7-8 months.. I'm so unsettled, I don't like tegra 3 cpu... Any one thinks that one x will have sense 5 rom ported from one? I know, it's too early, but I should take a decision in a short time!
I am pretty sure that the devs around here will be able to get it ported.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I'm hoping that a backup of htc one image will be released soon, in order to start to have an opinion from devs... I'll decide if I should buy onex during the next week, and after that I've a short time...

I'll have to see that, cause we all know from past announcements/confirmations that they not all have seen the light. Just wait and see (till it arrives), no speculations and I don't believe in confirmations.
I like the look of Sense 5, but I prefer it on a HTC One, instead of my One X. I'm not entirely blown away by BlinkFeed, for me the clock and calendar are the most important info to be seen, news and social feeds come after that.

so many devs got so many roms ported like on other htc's ....it's difficult but they could do that...it would take really a lot of time but HTC WILL updating ...they said it and why the hell could the hox doesn't get it? it's hardware is enough for android 4.2 with sense 5 or even higher version...till android 5 oder even 6....and if porting or cm we would also get android 7

I can foresee HTC releasing a dubbed down Sense 4.5. In my opinion it would not be in their best interest to release full Sense 5 for older generation phones when it's the major unique selling point for the newly released One handset.
If this were the case I would imagine some of the awesome developers within the rom community will port a full version after some time
As I've just heard sense 5 will be coming to the One X does anyone have any time reference as I use an unlocked HOX on giff-gaff but it's cid is h3g-001 and waited long enough for my 4.1 jb update, curious as to wait or get HTC One but will definitely buy SIM free next time

Sensation also could handle sense 4, my old sensation was running it thanks to venom team. They said that its unable to handle sense 4, but its bull****. If they will upgrade hox to sense 5, it will stop a lot of people with one x to buy htc one, as they will have almost the same phone. It is business, I really doubt they will upgrade hox to sense 5. They will propably release sense 4.6 or something like this for hox so that people who want sense 5 and don't want to modify their phone will buy htc one. Well, we at xda will know that hox and one are not the same phones, but what about people that don't know much about phones? There are lots of people that quad-core hox with sense 5 and quad-core one with sense 5 are the same phones, just looks different. Lets say some guy that doesn't know to much about mobile phones. He sees hox and one, both quad-core, both running lets say android 4.2 and both with sense 5. It would mind for him if its tegra or snapdragon, a lot of people doesn't even know what RAM is, so he looks at a price, and what? Hox is much cheaper than one, but looks practically the same in terms of features. So why would he buy one if he could have the same (only in his mind) phone for much less money? But it woukdnt be the case if hox will be running sense 4.6, and one running "much better" (not really better, but well, lets say it is for that guy, as it's newer) sense 5. He would buy one only then. Hopefully you will get my point (and my "story") I hope all of you are right, but I've heard and seen to much about HTC to belevie it before I see it
