Is there an apk available that will install the T9 dialer on the stock image? I've got my phone working the way I like it (minus the data drops) and would like to get T9 dialer. I don't like the ones on the market. I would like something that is designed or able to install that looks factory.
Thanks in advance....
Try exdialer on the market, it's good with a clean design. If you're rooted/unlocked there's a T9 stock dialer in the apps/themes forum.
Thanks...I'm rooted and unlocked. I'll search for the T9 dialer in the forum you suggested.

One thing that keeps me from sticking to the AOSP Roms is the dialer. I hate the whole contact scrolling and not being able to just type and it auto searches possibles. Unless I am just totally missing a setting lol.
Is there another option to the dialer for AOSP? I actually really enjoyed Decks and CM but I can't do the dialer. lol
You can try Go Contacts or Dialer one
I was hoping for a non app alternative. Basically to completely replace the dialer and not just add another one. I will give them a go though. Thank you
Well, if you're in the AOSP dialer and press search you can type whatever name you want?
That is what I am wanting to not so. In the Sense dialers I can just start typing and go with out an addition search button.

Oh, you mean type in the keypad.
Yeah, Dialer one or Go contacts
the dialer on Gnex is stock android, which is without the quick search function.
i know we can achieve the quick search by installing other dialers, but i just dont want to loose the great look of stock dialer!!
any suggestions?
thanks in advance
Sorry I am not positive what you mean by quick search. If you are referring to how the old diallers would bring up contacts as you type their number you can still do that by opening the dialler and going to people and pressing the search button.
it isn't on the main dialler screen but it is in the app. may be a solution for you
If you are rooted CM9 has a T9 dialer. Many of the ROMs have incorporated this dialer.
Also if you are rooted and on a 4.0.3 ROM you can replace you're dialer with the CM9 dialer.

Hello guys
the problem with impossibility change stock ICS dialer by another one from third party is driving me crazy... I tried everything including factory reset and complete wipe. Always the bloody stock dialer come up when use any dialer from the market. Even if I swipped launcher and phone icon on home screen. Third party dialer itself works OK, but when dialing I always getting stock ICS dialer!!
Kinldy ask all for help how to disable stock ICS original dialer that I hate!
Thanks indeed
Ciao
Go to settings for the phone.apk and clear defaults.
I did it, but when dialing form eXdialer, always stock comes up..., I rebooted phone after change, but still in troubless...
any clue?
If you mean the actual dialing (call active), you can't change that. Dialler is the app used to find the number, and the call itself is done through the stock dialer.
Swyped on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
I recently found the answer in another thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388274

How can I change the default dialler for SGN so I can use Dialer one or Go Contact EX? it wont come up with the action request pop up.

The OP answered it himself, and did so by updating the #1 post, so it might not have looked like the answer...
The phone icon in the launcher is actually a direct link to the phone app so you just have to replace that with your own chosen dialler app! in 2.x it was a link to the default phone app but in ICS it is different.

So, just drag the phone icon off the bottom area and drag the alternate dialer you want to use down there.
Thanks guys for help.
To make it short, the main problem with dialer is that no possibility of SPEED DIAL. This has been solved by using shortcuts on second home screen for frequent calls. The key problem is impossibility to see right below the contact also a company. Actually I register roughly 1.400 contacts in the phone and not always sure about which caller belongs to what company once I get ring up. So I see only the name and not sure about company that the guy comes from.
Maybe some solution is already existing, so I would really apreciate it from you

I'm looking into changing the emoticons in the stock messaging app. I have the Verizon HTC One and it is rooted with S-OFF and a slightly modified stock ROM.
I love everything about the phone, but it drives me nuts when I go to enter this emoticon:
or I receive it because it looks like a very unhappy face.
I don't see how this: translates to this:
But anyway, is it possible to change the emoticons?
Thanks!
Does anyone know a mod that will make Swype keyboard use Google instead of dragon dictation. I used to use swype tweaks when xposed was available but since is not I'm looking for a workaround thank you.
if you're using the version of swype that comes with a
touchwiz rom, the microphone button Does open Google voice keyboard.
Yeah I know, was just hoping to use the one I paid for. Thanks though
Just use the google keyboard
Google keyboard. It's a ok keyboard but predictions aren't that good to me. I think swype does it better.
Does anyone know how to theme the included Swype application that already has the Google dictation?
And/or, does anyone know the code to change the dictation from Dragon to Google?
I've successfully added the top number row mod to make it more like the Samsung keyboard but the themes are locked out in smali somewhere.
Either would would be an improvement. I've learned to get by without the voice dictation and use paid version with the added number row. I miss Xposed but what I miss more is the developers sharing code that we could use to make our own mods. Those were some fun threads!
Of all the keyboards I've tried to learn, Swype is still the most accurate for me, by far.
