1. A kernel is basicly identification of a rom (might be wrong)
2.sim lock is basicly where no one can use the si. Without your pin (its on every phone)
3.?????? I don't know!?!?!?
4.cyanogenmod is definately the best...why you might ask...because its ics. To install it get clockworkmod recovery so you can flash it. (Its in the gw hacking and development by arco68. I'd recomend using Odin as your a beguiner.) Go into recovery by shutting down your phone then pressing power, volume up, and home. Once the Samsung logo comes up let go of power BUT DO NOT let go of vol up and home. Once you see recovery appear let go of all buttons. Back:back. Home:select. Volume up:select up (if you get what I mean) volume down:select down. Instructions on how to flash are in the xda gw hacking and dev. Cm9 alpha 1 I think it is...by Arco also (our god) lol

Every rom has different things pre installed like busy box (Unix cmd line(for terminal emulator)) and some roms have extra features created by the rom dev (these features are sometimes exclusive to the rom) and the rom names just...well...its just a name. Nvm.

[Q] Rom Recommendations

Hey,
I had a horrible bootloop-infection on my phone today for no reason; maybe its the sign to replace the Rom; i had a milestone 5 from AOKP [ around june WTF??!?) installed and was enjoying it till this day;
I was waiting for the last 4.2 Rom update from AOKP but since no update for the last month i decided to get something new and fresh instead, so thought to come back here and ask you guys thos flash junkies or just people who realy enjoy their current ROM;
I wasnt here for 6 months due to studying in the university so most of the names are new to me in the Development section that's why i realy need the help to choose;
I dont need much only good battery life; option to remove the notification bar and to have the navigation bar transparent or invisible;
Currently sitting with 4.0.2 clean recovery Rom that i made on the start of February o0 build waiting for responses;
Thank you;
Well, I am not using any of these custom ROMs so I am always supporting the idea of going over the main thread of the most popular ROMs in the development section then choosing whatever seems reasonable to you. Try it, then if any complaints then go for another.
If you really want a 4.2 AOKP ROM, then check this
I hope you have a break from the university so you can play with these custom ROMs
Thank you ahmadallica;
I'm studying software engineering so my free time is for sleep only currently thats why i ask for guidance due to the fact i dont have much time to test each Rom;
The Rom you gave looks realy nice from the outside but sounds more of a huge nightly build instead of a stable one, with so many stuff missing and probably he just uses the AOKP frame without adding/updating/changing any stuff moreover the lack of changlog and an overall [work/not work] stuff that the rest of the Rom developers show suggesting its just an amateur one; i really appreciate this dude's hard work but i need something stable for half a year and not to be one of this Rom testers;
Highly recommend paranoid android, been through leads of custom ROMs and I've stuck with this the longest ... give it a go, excellent team and excellent ROM

I'm realy liking what i see on Paranoid one tho; looks awesome;
Only question is are there any themes which support it or can u adjust color yourself from inside the system?
Muzzys looks like a full slim version with no additional features not sure thats what im looking for;

Well, I searched for MMuzzy's and it is available here.
Be careful because I found that in the "Verizon" section so do NOT flash it if you are running a GSM GNex

Paranoidandroid is definitely the way to go. The new version is still in beta but almost completely stable in my opinion. Themes are hit or miss at this stage of the ROM but yes, you can adjust the colors for the navbar, statusbar, navigation icons and statusbar icons within each app. It can be found in settings/paranoidpreferences/apps.
I've been using this rom since v1.98, it's now at 2.99 BetaNINE and I have not looked at anything else.
*Sidenote, PA used to be CM based up until version 2.54, starting with 2.99 Beta1 it is now AOSP based for a smoother and faster experience with better battery life. This is why some features are not yet added back and other things are not fully perfected (i.e. themes).
The problem with themes is that with every new Beta of PA comes some new code and the themers cannot always keep up with every new release so a lot of themes end up causing issues. I would just customize as I recommended above for now and once AOSPA 3.0 is released PA will be out of beta and easier to find compatible themes.
Yes you can adjust the colour of the status bar and nav bar for each app individually from with the hybrid engine within the rom... Most play store themes support it too... anything else just let me know

Thank you dankblaze for all that info;
I realy dont need that much of customization just that all bars/system/screens be with the same color and to be able to adjust that 1 color myself;
Is that possible in the new 2.99 or should i get the 2.54?

Personally, I like TWRP so check this on how to install it easily. Take note that if you have CWM nandroid backups then they will NOT be compatible with TWRP because it has its own nandroid backups.
As for kernel, just try them till you find a suitable one
Thx bro, i might give it a try tho is there something wrong staying with CWM ? i dont care much for the backups im gonna format it anyway. but i read inside you say it not for Gnex and thats its only for the Nexus 4? is that true?

No no. That was for the other member in that thread who was mentioning a Nexus 4 version. TWRP works on both of them. Basically just download the Goo Manager app then it will install the correct version automatically just follow the steps to save some time for your software engineering studies
I will copy the steps below so you don't have to worry about that link in my previous post.
1- Run GooManager app
2- Click on the upper right 3 dots for settings
3- Click "Install OpenRecoveryScript"
4- Confirm Recovery Install --> Yes
5- Confirm download, reboot, and install --> Yes
6- A download process will start then it will be installed
7- (Optional) Reboot into recovery to ensure that TWRP is successfully installed and working.
And no there is nothing wrong with CWM, I just personally like TWRP
If you are staying with CWM, then just update it to the latest version before installing any 4.2 ROM. I think installing/flashing the latest CWM recovery can be done easily using the "ROM Manager" application from the Play Store
Jb sorcery latest is great and has every tweak you can think of, very stable and they have inverted gaapps!!!

I recommend using TWRP. There were some problems with multiple media folders being created when flashing with CWM. I know latest TWRP did not have this problem. Don't know if latest CWM still does this or not.

What I would like is a simple ICS rom, but there are none!

Yep.
I just wish there was stock ICS for the HOV. Vanilla ics rom is close but it still has sense left over.
cm9 is far too unstable, and all my attempts at flashing various roms of JB are instable/not daily driver ready.
There don't seem to be any truly usable roms for this device. Stock sense is the only build in which everything works.
It's either one thing or another. If the camcorder works, the build might not work with simple apps like voxer. If voxer works, then mms won't work. If JB runs perfectly stable, then maybe the camcorder doesn't work. Does a rom that works without bugs like this exist? Here are a list of things I would need in a daily driver rom:
1. Camcorder- I'm a skater and I like to film fun edits of me and my hoodrat friends doing hoodrat things on our skates.
2. MMS - Such a simple necessity.
3. App compatibility -It drives me crazy when my important apps like voxer, instagram, facebook, and launchers lag badly or crash every time I open them
4. LAG - this is why I can't upgrade to JB, I thought provision Rom was AMAZING until I started using my apps (see #3)
5. Simple Multitasking
6. Random reboots - doesn't bother me too much but I could see it happening in some situation where I would need the phone immediately and have to try and explain to someone that "Herp, muh super custom droid phone likes to reboot so you'll just have to wait."
So far the only thing I can think of doing is building a stock ics rom (which I have no idea how to do). Any tips, first timer here.
Right now I just flashed back to stock and am going to run the de-sense tool. Why must OEMs ruin everything we love?
I hate to complain like this and I'm very glad there are devs working on the problems I describe. I guess I'm just venting my frustration. I love this phone but I have spent so much time trying to get a stock android experience that works. I would just buy galaxy nexus or an S3 but I'm a college and pre-paid cheap phones are the only way to fly right now, man. Sorry to sound so negative throughout the post but these are simply my observations in contrast with my needs and wants.
BTW first post on here. Don't hate me plz.

ok thanks! The only cm9 I could find was on the cdma dev forum and it said a number of things including the camcorder didn't work.
...and then I googled it and found exactly what I needed. Flashing now. We'll see how this works. Was there something I'm missing? I looked at this one [CDMA/PRIMOC][ROM] Unofficial CM9 for PrimoC Beta
480p video recording kind of suck but it'll have to do I guess.
Before u go knocking on peoples stuff how about u make a effort to fix it ur self and u can't say well I don't know how. Well sir u know that little company that bought android os yea sell they Also have a easy to use search bar and so does this little site u are on
And last how about u try and talk to the developers by posting in threads and asking if thus is a problem or even try p.m the developers the problem and I know that for sure u never messeaged me about a application messing up on our provisions rom

Don't know about comatibility/stability. Using CM10 from Lloir and works flawless for me, and yes, I'm using mms, camcorder, apps of a wide range, and yes, this is my primer and only phone, so I can say that it is stable too. Only camcorder problem I found that autofocus is somehow misbehaving in video recording.
Full wipe is essential for stability if you flash a rom that is based on something else, than the last one you used. I even erase sometimes the sdcards android and secure partitions if must. I tried Lloir's slimbean just this morning and seems promising enough, really thinking about to change to that rom permanently.
Full wipe means:
Factory reset (this will delete cache and dalvik cache - this will also remove the .android_secure folder)
Wipe system
Flash rom
Flash the correct kernel in bootloader
Reboot your phone
Voila, rom without any issues at all!
Don't tell me you did all these and you still have problems with JB and other custom roms. I just don't buy it. Everyone here that uses a custom rom are so enthusiastic about them, they don't even wanna get back on sense. I am having Paranoid Android on my One V from the moment I started making the rom for us, since August. From then onwards, I've only used this rom. I don't think that there are any kind of instability with it, because I test my roms before releasing them so if it was unstable, why should've I used it for more than 4 months now?

1. I do all those. This is is my third android device. I used to have a galaxy tab 2 rom'd with cm10 and it was awesome. But even it had some problems with app compatibility. I got my learning in on that device. I nearly bricked it 3-4 times haha.
2. We use our phones differently. There are probably a ton of apps I use and a ton you don't. I know for sure that draw something is incompatible with JB itself.
I'll probably flash PA soon if some issues pop up with the cm9 build I'm using now.
Draw something is compatible with jellybean no doubt since I installed it on my HOV and it works.

Well I am not aware of any 4.0 or above ROMs that can be flashed via ODIN. I am sure if any developer wants, they may be able to do it but I really think that flashing via recovery is always a better choice compared to ODIN. I see no advantage for ODIN flash...
Do you mind telling me why do you need odin flash???

Do you have root access on your phone? Every step is actually quite easy to follow. There are really good guides on both general and development sections. But beforewe delve into howto's you should clarify what constitutes STABLE for you...
We have ICS (4.04) as well as JB ( 4.1.2 and 4.2.2) in the development section. All are pretty good but here and there they may have some bugs. Just go to their threads check them out. On the very first page of a ROM thread what works and what doesn't are listed. Decide whether you can live with one of them then we can talk about howto's.
I recommend CM9, CM10 and CM10.1 all from the developer arco68...
OHHH with a custom recovery, you don't even need a computer to flash a new ROM. That surely is a bonus...

I have root access on my phone. Well, I don't see the ROM thread that you mentioned. Stable means that the ROM is not easy to crash or eats up my RAM even when I'm not using it, while common bugs are still acceptable if they can be fixed (I can't find threads from arco68, so I don't know what you mean by his CM9 and all those so...)
Hope you can enlighten me more about this recovery method and the difference between the CMs (if possible, also include any differences between ICS and JB b'coz I don't know which one to choose)
Recovery is super easy:
Download the zip and put it on your SD (internal or external, makes no difference)
Then turn of your phone
Press and hold Volume up + Power button + home button
Once the screen turns on, release the power button, but keep holding onto the other two
Then the recovery menu shows up
choose install zip from SD
select the zip and hit install
finished

Its a kind of recovery, called ClockworkMOD. Now its the 6.0.3.0 version if I'm not wrong...
Linky: here
Okay, the process of installation of a custom recovery is tedious. Link: here DO NOT USE THE FILES IN THIS PAGE. JUST THE INSTRUCTIONS.
Now, flash the ROM (any of the three is fine. I personally recommend CM9 or 10 cus its in its RC stages, which means Resource... something)
The instructions is on the ROM page itself. And you're done. I or arco are not held responsible if your phone is screwed up in the process (very little chance) or
if your heart fails because its loading for a longer period than it should be.

Well obviously, since its a custom ROM, its bound to have bugs. There's no such thing as a "perfect" ROM. And I have 6.0.1.something CWM and I have flashed every single ROM, from 9-10.1. So it shouldn't be a problem.

I believe I have caused some misinterpretation here. What I mean is that I want to know if there is anything that's not working in CM9. The stuff below is found from the CM9 thread.
What's working:
Audio
Receiving and making calls
GPS
Compass
Proximity sensor
Wifi
Bluetooth
USB mass storage
HW accelerated gui
HW accelerated video
Camera
Torch
Wifi and USB tethering
There isn't anything that's not shown as "not working", so I'm asking you about it just for confirmation.
If there isn't anything, I will flash CM9 soon.

I just noticed something in your post. Just to clarify, RC mean "Release Candidate" not resource something... Just so you know. First alpha's come, then beta's, and right before a FINAL version is released in which most of the bugs are squashed, a release candidate comes to make sure everything is working. If for example, no bugs remain in a release candidate, it is renamed to FINAL as far as I know
However, there are different understanding of these names on the internet. For example, for some, once a product is in a BETA phase, no more new features added from there on. However, that may not be true for CM releases here, I am not sure.
and @zacszy, both CM9 and CM10 are pretty stable. I have not encountered any show stopping bugs but that maybe because of the way I use my phone, as I dont play games. I use it mostly for productivity, internet surfing, couple of youtube videos, music...
Try them all. I am sure you will pick one that suits your needs..

Really appreciate your help @thearif and I would definitely try them out before really settling in with the CM I want

Thanks for the definition. Just saying, you can't call it fully stable cuz .... well that's impossible. It is only nearly stable.... you may have not said it but I'm just saying. Haha

[Q] Detailed Instructions for a total noobie :)

Hello guys.
I am a brand new Android user and a total noob when it comes to the whole terminology here (ROMs,Kernel, flash etc). I've been reading a lot and i got better i must say,but i still need to ask some questions and get some instructions.
I have a Samsung Galaxy ACE II - GTI 8160
The phone is rooted,i have SuperSU and this is the info bout the phone.
Firmware : I8180XXMF1
Kernel : 3.0.31D-K_v1.RC15
Android Version : 4.1.2. (official)
I'd like to flash a new ROM,and more specifically the 10.1 CM.
My questions are. Does the current firmware and Kernel version that my phone has, meet the requirements to flash the new ROM right away?
Even if they do,shall i "upgrade" Kernel to something better to increase performance (since i dont think i can upgrade firmware, couldnt find a newer Greek version).
New ROM will support Greek language normally?
Is there anything else i should notice before starting the procedure?
I'd appreciate some specific step to step instuctions of what should i do before flashing,if ofcourse there is something i should do.
Thank u in advance and sorry if there is a similar topic and i missed it

Download Rom (Team Canjica 10.1)
Download Temporal CWM Recovery ( Or if you have already don't download)
Download Gapps
Reboot into Recovery (vol up + home + power)
Mount and Storage > Format System
Wipe data / cache / dalvik cache
Flash ROM (install zip
Flash Gapps
Reboot system
Noob
You're not the only one
Don't have any fear about putting on a custom ROM, just follow the instructions carefully and double check you've downloaded the right gapps file. I've done it a fair few times now, and any problems I've had have been sorted by reading this forum.
Thanx a lot for ur responses guys. I'll try to read more before i do it,just to be absolutely sure about my moves.

guys!
something we are all familiar with on galaxy grand forum is spamming!
indeed there are still many users/new users who post WRONG POSTS in WRONG SECTIONS..
still u can find questions which are off-topic/not related to forum/which have been answered several times/which have been asked several times by making new threads etc.
it not only takes up unnecessary space on server, but also lowers the value of GALAXY GRAND DUOS community..
developers getting pissed by day to day ETA's and helpers pissed by posting same and same answer, to several people !
i do know that xda's search option on top right might be not that accurate for some here,
SO
here i am here making an illustrative thread,(after discussing and opinions from many on xda)
WHICH will not only help you to solve ur problems regarding roms, but also day to day frequently asked multiple times answered questions....
its possible that it does not contain everything that u need , but seriously guys, it will at least decrease number of SPAMS on our threads...
all problems will be mostly illustrated below.........
just read it once please before posting in all other forums....
Few Information better read before any Posting!! (most Important..)1. AOSP based Rom/ Non touchwiz Rom (cm11/carbon,resurection remix, paranoid android,Pac-man ,Omni, and others)DO NOT support DUAL SIM Functionality..(it Requires Broadcomm Specific Codes which are not released as Open Source)...
you want Dual Sim , be On any touchWiz based Rom(Stock, Gennxt , etc)..
2. Difference between Touchwiz based Roms and AOSP Based Roms of our Device
1. AOSP Roms DON'T HAVE Dual sim functionality.
2. these are small in size as have only basic android Framework and Do not include bloatwares.
(Roms size~198mbs+)
3. AOSP Roms don’t have TW features, (but have their own**)!
4. they are Highly Customizable and meant for performance.
5. Lower RAM Consumption compared to TouchWiz.
1. Touchwiz Roms HAVE dual sim functionality
2. TouchWiz Roms are Larger in size
because of heavy Framework and Bloatwares*
(ROM Size~844mb+)
3. Touchwiz Got its own specific Features and its own apps for Music/camera etc.
4.they got polish and looks (in own way).
5. High RAM consumption Compared to AOSP. * Custom Roms based on Touchwiz are mostly Bloats free.
**Features varies from Rom to Rom.....get a quicky info in Roms Section!
Recovery Mode and Download Mode
recovery mode- it is a mode used for multipurpose uses.......described below..
switch off the device..hold (vol. up +powe+menu) combination...and let device start..once device start...remove hands atleast from power button else it will switch it on again!!!
How to operate it???
use volume buttons to navigate up and down...
use power button to select!
stock recivery(by default samsung recovery has limited options below....
-reboot system now
(Reboots the system).
-apply sdcard:update.zip
(Install diverse updates like themes, custom roms etc.)
-wipe data/factory reset
(Deletes all the apps, data and system settings(Files on the external SD-card will stay untouched)
-wipe cache partition
(Only wipes (formats) /cache partition (sometimes used as temp storage for updates, market downloads, etc) it hasn't anything common with Dalvik-cache which is in /data by default and it implies that the following boot after wiping cache partition will not be any longer than usually.)
beacuse stock recovery is limited.....custom recoveries are important which have got special features like backup/restore...and many more..
I use CWM...and it is easy to use..i will tell in later section
Download mode- it is used to flash firmware by Odin...
Combination - (vol. down+menu+power button)
once it boots ..there will be a screen ..
volume up to confirm that u want to go ahead and flash by Odin.
volume down to backoff and restart if u did it by mistake.... using ODIN
(lifeline of Samsung firmware installers )
it is really simple app fpr windows PC to flash firmwares/kernels/recoveries etc.
when you brick your device, dont panic and post anywhere...just re-install the firmware by Odin for developer's sake
it will remove everything and simply will install the Samsung's firmware and will make your device like a fresh new one!
an app for saving asses of guys like me who unwillingly/unknowingly brick there device!!
Odin download
link~ http://bartztech.com/wp-content/uploads/YP-G1/Restore/Odin3v1.7.zip
Odin Prerequisites:-
When you need to flash using Odin, you need the Samsung drivers, so that Odin can detect your device while attached to PC via. USB cable....
- Samsung USB Drivers
linky~ http://www.mediafire.com/download/hzlnda0l5t8qyes/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones(3).exe
download drivers
remove old ones installed by control panel(if any)
reboot
install the drivers given
reboot
ready to be used
A stock Samsung USB cable (it seems to give better result than other USB cable bought on third party sellers.)
Flashing by Odin
Note- An Odin flashable file is supposed to be in .tar or .tar.md5 format only.
1.Run Odin.
2. Put your device in download mode(switch off then press vol down+power+menu button altogether.....once it starts..leave buttons else will switch off again coz u are holding power button remember !!)
3.You should see a yellow/blue rectangle with COM:xx and saying ready. that is your device ID actually.. It means that your device is ready to be flashed! (It is important because it means that device connected is recognized by Odin )
4.Go into the PDA section and take your .tar file.(if single file is given.)
if multiple .tar files are given then put CSC in CSC...phone/modem in PHONE section respectively
5. if there is also a pit file then make sure that re-partition box at left is UNCHECKED>!!
6. meditate for a while and ensure once again hat files u have selected are for galaxy grand duos only !!
obvious if you flash s3 files by Odin..you will end up in boot loop..
7. hit start and pray to god that all goes well *kidding*..it will
8.When it's finished, it should say that it's done with a green box saying PASS..if it says fail.....i.e. your USB is not accurately detected...or is detected but disconnects in between.... it happens sometimes if it is not THAT GOOD usb cable...dont panic..remove battery and repeat all steps again!! .just dont let it touched even by air if that happens..keep trying and it will work...once work is done..the first thing u do is get a good USB cable (its i am talking about extreme cases , there will be no problem else )
once it is done , device will be rebooted ( if reboot is checked in left box(u will get what i am talking about once you open app and see by yourself)
Note:- if you have flashed a firmware..first boot might take time from 3-10 minutes...just keep patience and wait....
if still it doesnt start after 10 minutes ....remove battery...re-insert...go in recovery mode..clear data/format and clear cache..now reboot..wait again.... and you are good to go
 ROOTING and CWM
basic reason why most of people come on XDA is how to root!
thanks to @chotu222 who already have made a thread so that people can follow and acquire what they wished!!
i will be short and still descriptive!!!
(as it is already mentioned in forums and its pain to type so much :/)
PROCEDURE:
simply for quick pickers.. install CWM and then flash superUser through it!!
is it really that difficult to do??
there is a cwm given with SeLinux support(which is must for installing kitkat roms ), so why not just install that CWM and be carefree (whatever u flash, it wont give any problem)
simple two steps.....
Step 1: installing CWM...
here is SeLinux supported CWM file..(thanks to @pawitp \m/ )
linky~ http://goo.im/devs/pawitp/i9082_cm11.0/recovery_20131210.tar
download it and flash via odin
NOTE- while flashing by Odin , untick auto reboot Option(because rebooting device makes stock recovery to over-write over CWM recovery....)
once the flashing process is done....simply remove and re-insert battery, and go to Recovery Mode, flash the Fix-Recovery.zip given below...
that will fix your problem
Fix-Recovery link- http://www.mediafire.com/download/74mmd1x4af6hlo4/Fix-Recovery.zip.
Step 2: installing superSU: SuperSU allows for advanced management of Superuser access rights for all the apps on your device that need root.
linky~ http://download.chainfire.eu/376/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.89.zip
just flash the superSU by CWM.....
reboot the device...
and your device is now rooted(check it if there is a superSU app in ur app drawer or not).
that is it!!
that's all it takes to root your device...
just 5 minutes :/
NO..You wont loose any data..its just that you simply installed an app in system root directory

Custom roms
Custom Roms are customized Roms for devices..providing us with various different options/advantages over stock Rom what we have Pre-installed by company!..it could be a de-bloated same stock rom w or w/o extra features,/ a whole new version of android/ a ROM based with UI built for different mobile...
simply..there are many Roms and the list is actually long..i cant simply explain but still tried to....
They are mostly based on Aosp/Aokp format(in simple words, with look of nexus UI), or OEM's based(in simple words like Samsung's touch wiz, htc's sense)..
every rom has its unique specialty..unique UI and Unique features.
OEM's are heavily programmed and sized, bloated with factory apps pre-included..
that is the reason that nexus based Roms (~250Mbs+) are twice smaller than the official firmwares(~800Mbs+)!
thanks to all respected Developers who did put such their efforts, and have provided us with so many ROMs !
i am enlisting all ROMs down here with short descriptions, so that you can find everything under one thread here!
AOSP BASED ROMs-
Kitkat (android 4.4.2)
CyanogenMod 11-
thanks to @pawitp for developing this Rom. i dont think i need any explaination for CyanogenMod
its basic AOSP Rom based on Kitkat(4.4.2)...used as base rom for many Custom Roms, It is considered as standard Rom by many Users...Good battery backup, performance and less RAM consumption is speciality of this Rom..it don't implement much extra features except basics, as try to be as near to Nexus stock rom!
developer is always trying to update it as soon as CyanogenMod releases any update...
pawitp has also given delta update Option if you are using limited mbs and internet..its like update and patches which are directly supposed to be flashed (and are <20mbs)..just the modifications made are given , so that you dont download the whole rom...
NOTE- just read FAQ section in cm11 thread for more information on Delta updates.

Carbon Rom
One of the most appreciated Rom Built for galaxy Grand i9082 @xenon92 did put some serious green lantern efforts here (the reason why it has got amazing battery backup and performance)
personally, have used many Roms built for the device, but carbon Rom was the one with least problem when Run by ART compiler..
not only its RAM usage decreased from avg. 300 to 210, but also it supports Gapps in ART (while many Roms conflicts with gapps and give FCs in ART)
it has got many add-on features then just plain kitkat Roms...With the possibility of Halo getting Implemented it Near future(Depends on Carbon Team), lockscreen blur, notifications on lockscreen and Active display comprised as its one of good add on features, there is a Good battery backup (actually good,), with performance..
just give it a shot and u will love it

SlimKat
One of best thing about @xenon92 is that once he starts rolling new roms, he just cant stop ....
so again, introduced slimRom with kitkat power..
slimRoms are most light weight code based Roms , for performance!..they don't add any extra features(Halo and all) because performance is MUST
good when it comes to battery backup
just install and u will never regret it

@raghavsharmaxda you are posting in the wrong section!!!!
Post this in the general section.
The main reason I postes this here is coz many do come here for FAQ thread..
So its better that they read it here near FAQ thread (so that ppl think twice before posting noon kinda qsns in FAQ too and helpers do save sometime !!).
Still if its a trouble I will surely move it..
Thanks for advice...

it's great someone has decided to write down all the important things we need to know of our phones in one place... Thanks a lot @raghavsharmaxda :d

I also suggest adding site-specific Google search, it's a lot better than XDA search. It should help a lot of newbs.
Add "site:xda-developers.com" after the keywords i.e. "battery drain problem site:xda-developers.com" and type it into Google search. It also works on other sites, not just XDA.

Did you go into download mode? what version of odin did you use? use 3.04. Try to change usb cable. tell me if no one of this working.
