Hello good people of XDA,
I've been using this Alumor case for a week now and I really like it, so I thought
I'd give you a review!
The case consists of an aluminum shell that covers the back and about half of the sides, and silicone rubbery stuff on the inside and around the screen.
The silicone extends about 1,5 millimetre above the screen and for me it doesn't really get in the way of touching things.
The rubber is pretty grippy, which is both good and bad. Good because the case is very comfortable to hold (moreso than without the case for me), but bad because it makes it harder to slide in and out of your pocket.
As if people don't look funny at us enough when we're pulling our jumbo smartphones out of our pockets.
The aluminum feels nice to the touch and looks great. Unfortunately, it blocks a lot of the GPS signal so when I need to use my note for satnav I have to take it out. I haven't noticed any degradation of cell network reception.
I've heard this might actually be the fault of the silicone, perhaps anyone could shed some light on this? If so, I could probably remove a bit of the silicone where the GPS antenna is located.
The holes for the s-pen hole, mics and headphone jack are a bit off. If your headphone has a thick jack, it wont fit in without removing a bit of silicone from the edge. The stock headset jack does fit. It doesn't seem affect anything else, and the s-pen is still easy to take out/slide in.
The buttons are still easy to press, even with a layer of silicone on top.
The case cost me 17,99 euros + shipping. I think it's a very good deal if the GPS thing doesn't bother you.
have a capdase and today the first time tride navigation no gsp signal after setting of the extra possibilitie ( under de gsp button) sensor i had the richt gsp signal ,tride first whitout the case stil no gsp after setting the choice extra sensors for location i had signal from gsp so i don't beliefe its the case.

The past week I've actually used it a couple times and it seems to work fine now. Maybe it was just a bug or something, I'm not using stock ROMs. Definitely not the case that was the problem.
capdase and a chinese kopie of flygrip ($29) = ultimate on the go case Note ,gsp is working in the case , it takes more then 10 min. before have signal gps. tride outside case + gps = 6 min gps ,no case 2 min in ,car +case = 10 min

I'm working on an idea for a motorcycle mount for my EVO. I have a RAM mount with the AMPS bolt pattern but what I need is a metal snap on case if there is such a thing. I'm going to have to drill it and I don't think a plastic case will hold up over time. There may even be a problem with the fitment as I'll need to use very thin screw heads and washers. Any metal or THICK plastic snap on cases out there?
I realize this will probably hurt my signal strength but it will be plugged into the charger the entire time. Will it screw up NAV (GPS) and the compass though?
And of course it has to be secure (won't pop out as I go over a rail road track) but fairly easy for me to get the phone out when we stop to eat or something. (I know - picky, picky). Being as safety conscience as I am I'll probably put a thick rubber band around one end while I'm riding anyway
Thanks.
Steve

5 seconds on Google and I found this.

I think it would get really hot and uncomfortable to hold. I could be wrong though

Seems like a bad idea... wait for a ram for it or see if you can request one...
Mine overheats in my tank bag while on the charger. I imagine a metal case would do the same.

Since a fair few of you will now have one of these, I was just looking to get some thoughts and opinions on one please?
Also I know it can stand vertical with this case on, but can it stand landscape?
Thanks
U can do everything without any trouble, it's a great case.

I've seen that it can stand vertical on it's own when the case is on, I was wondering if it could stand landscape too?
Thanks

Yeah, it's a great little case. I bought the black one, and i'm looking at getting a blue one next. Really cheap for official ones from Trusted Sellers on ebay (roughly £7 without original packaging, £10 with)
the only downside is it lets dust through the little holes, so you get a neat little dust pattern on the back side of your phone - a regular removal and wipe on your trousers helps.
I've had one on it for about 2 weeks and I like it, only drawback is I had to shave down by USB connector plastic to get it to fit while the case is still on. I ordered another from dealextreme because it was really cheap. I notice the case just touches the mic area but doesnt cover it up. I like it because it's not very bulky and the plastic 'mesh' back fits over a soft case and makes it rigid and easy to hold.
Good luck for u
Got a generic cheap mesh case from eBay, its pretty awesome but as mentioned above, gets a bit dirty after some long time, and mine is cheap enough to start breaking on corners, had a few falls tho, and that's the purpose of a case, so the phone doesn't break instead
I had this case, it was okay at the start but in the end the plastic on the top corner started breaking away. Also the one and only time I dropped my phone with this case on I got a nasty scratch just above the screen where there was no protection. I had to ditch it. I'm using a plain black tpu case now, much more protection. The advantage of the mesh case is that its so slim.
Edit : Oh yea and its a dust magnet.
Got the original mesh case, I dropped it twice since I got it. First time no damage at all, protected the phone nicely. Second time the phone popped out of the case as it hit the floor (shoulder hight, had a nice spin to it also) but both the case and the phone didn't suffer any damage. So I guess it serves it's purpose and looks nice as well.
Aesthetically nice.
Crap if you want proper protection.
I bought it merely to protect the camera and back when I put the phone down to prevent scratching. For overall phone protection it's definitely going to be lacking as the top and bottom edges of the phone aren't covered. The case clips on easily but stays on fairly tightly. The rubbery material gives better grip when holding the phone. Dust does get in over a week or so over the back of the phone, though isn't noticeable with the case on, and can easily be wiped off. I think the case looks pretty nice, all key areas are fully accessible and for the price of about £8 was worth it.
is not compatible for i9100P
I've just buy the genuine Samsung mesh vent case for my Samsung Galaxy S2 win NFC (i9100P) but it is NOT compatible. My colleague on the i9100, not NFC, perfect fit.
Some ideas?
Light, strong and keeps the thinness we all love about our S2s!
Dropped mine a couple of times on to wooden floors and no damage yet
Protects the camera lens too when lying on a flat surface
The dust comments are true but only noticeable when u take the cover off so no big deal and it fits so snugly it kinda looks part of the phone!
To answer original question tho, no only stands in portrait
I got an official Samsung one given with mine. Good at protecting from scuffs when it's on a table or desk but wouldn't like to trust it with protecting my phone from a fall.
That's why it's sat unused in a cupboard at work! If anyone wants it just message me and I'll stick in the post.

Anybody know any good aluminum bumpers for I9100? My casemate is falling apart.

I thought only the Yanks spelt it like that?

I have a red sweet armor and i have no complaints about it. I can access the battery. The sides are raised.
Though i have recently thought of getting a leather case.
Thanks for the help, you two^. rawr.itservin, have you noticed any impact on signal for GPS, WiFi, 3G on your phone?
I know aluminium is a fairly light metal but doesn't this just add unnecessary weight?
Not no really. Everything seems to be fine. There is a small "hole" on the left side for the antenna. I've only heard that the Aluminum battery covers had problems with GPS.
Here is how mine looks like.

That looks really nice, I'm using a castmate barley there at the moment but I do like the look of that. Would you recommend it? and how easy is it to put on?
Yes i have no regrets in buying the bumper. The only complaint i have is my jack that i have in my home stereo is too big for the hole on top for earphones. Sorry i couldn't find the correct terms.
But everything else is great. There is cushions inside so in case you drop it, it absorbs some shock. The power and volume controls are easily accesed.
In terms of taking it off and putting it back on, It will take awhile since it's being held by 4 screws.
This is the thread you're looking for.
I purchased an Aluminum Case from Ebay. I really like the look, was tough to install. They are lined with silicon or rubber so that the case will not scratch the phone. Downside is poor wifi reception, 3G went down by a bar, GPS without the case saw 19 satellites and with the case only saw 5 satellites.
Just wanted to give a heads up.

Thanks for the info. I was considering getting this case. Good thing I saw another case that looks exactly the same but is plastic instead.

I have that case..Got it from Amazon. Haven't noticed any signal disruptions. Makes the phone feel solid.
This is what I installed on the back of it to hold and for a stand.

I'm trying to find a case with a belt clip but I've only found one believe it or not. Searching Amazon I've found the same case rebranded a hundred times over.
Problem is, I bought one and it has a critical flaw. With the case on the phone, insert it into the slip holster (aka clamshell) and the railing of holster constantly pushes the power button, so every time I pull out the phone, it reboots! I though it was my phone at first. Anyway, all designs on Amazon are the same! Just overseas made and sold by differing names.
I checked eBay too
I have found some nice horizontal cases (with a flap) that I think will work but I'm feeling like I will never see a true clamshell or clip design for this device...
I don't pocket my phones at all. I find it ruins the finish and is uncomfortable to me.
Just a rant. Anyone know of a well built case that offers a belt clip. I'll pay the price for a quality case, gladly!

A crazy idea that might work....
I had an idea! The Axon 7 measures 5.97 x 2.95 x .31 and the Google Pixel XL measures 6.09 x 2.98 x .33. With my TPU case on, I think if I purchase the Seidio spring clip holster this might just fit the bill. The side rails might be cutting it close, but I am willing to take the chance.
Edit: am dumb
Edit2: I was right, it has a belt holder: Case with holder

I tried that one. It has a critical design flaw. When I put it into the belt holder, the belt holder pushes, and holds, the power button hard-rebooting my phone every time. I think the inner rubber phone case fits loosely which causes too much material over the power button. LOL Otherwise it isn't that bad of a combo.

Received my Poetic Revolution series case for my A7 today. I am very impressed by it thus far, especially by the built-in screen protector since there are no full screen tempered glass protectors for the A7 due to the curved glass. I don't plan on tossing my phone around to test out the durability but it feels like it is going to offer some good protection all around.
Is there any flip cover case with sleep/lock function, like the original?
Couldn't find any, on ebay or EU amazons, except the original from US which costs 55 $ with postage to Europe...
Nillkin, who has such nice quality and economy cases, has not produced an Axon 7 case.
Any suggestions pleaseeee ?
I'm very happy with the one given in the box.

You can buy the original from ZTE or B&H. Both dropped the price to 9.99 USD. B&H I know ships internationally-don't know about ZTE.

Please report back when you get it, as I'm very curious how it works with signal - every metal case I've ordered in the past for my other phones has reduced the signal slightly to significantly. I had thought the slightly wasn't a problem - what's a decrease of 1-2 bars when you're at full strength anyway?
The problem is when you're in a poor signal area and you NEED that 1 bar and you have to take the phone out of the case to work!
On another note, I wish that someone would make a simple backless bumper case - I miss those days when I could use my phone practically naked with just a protective bumper around the sides.

Ah, sorry to hear about that - I was hoping you had good news, but it seems not only did you not get what you wanted, but have to go through a bit of inconvenience to return the product. I appreciate that you shared your experience, though- thanks a lot for saving me from the same mistake.
I've using my poetic case for a few months now, and thus far I have a few complains
- flaps they remain open after a while, I cut them off both recently
- screen protector awful scratches easily, removed it and used a higher quality protector instead
now is near perfect the case plays well with third party screen protectors and is VERY sturdy, has saved me from QUITE a few drops

I spent tons of time looking for cases for the Axon 7 and found that honestly there are 5 variants. The poetic tank case, the Spigen "rugged armor" case, the dual layer (rubber plus plastic) case thats rebranded by tons of companys, the "iron man" dual layer case (Also rebranded by various companies), and the belt clip one with terrible reviews because of the problem you stated. There are a few others that are some variation of the above or some see-through ones with bumpers but honestly none seemed satisfactory.
In light of this I decided to opt for ZTE's own hybrid material case. I haven't dropped the phone since I put it on but it is definitely sturdier than the case they included with the phone and the material is hard enough yet flexible enough that it seems like it would be able to take a hit without causing any damage to the phone. It also fits really well and is not bulky either. I realize this might not be what you're looking for but for some strange reason good quality cases are far and few between for this phone (perhaps due to some kind of licensing issue from ZTE?) so that case might be your best bet :/. You could potentially get some other kind of belt holster and have this phone sit in it while in the case.

Aluminum doom
Though this question was posed back in May , I didn't see a response answering the question so I'll answer it for you in case anyone else is curious . I purchased the Mirror case for $3.89 on eBay in piano black . ( I always seem to find better deals there and easier to navigate then the Big A but that's just my opinion). It is indeed a beautiful case and mine came in with no damage whatsoever . Indeed it is a tight fit putting the back on but once you get it in place everything does line up perfectly . The concern from another member was whether or not the signal would be blocked with the aluminum casing around the edges . The answer is a very easy yes . The signal degrades horribly . I only get two bars inside my home and with the case on it dropped to 0 with no signal whatsoever . It does get some signal outside but it's not worth using this case if I may be missing important calls or messages from clients . Sadly it's just a beautiful case with poor execution with the materials involved . Fortunately I didn't lose much on the case itself . I really wanted this one to work strictly because it looked so awesome even though it's not great when it comes to protecting the phone itself in a drop . Hope this helps if anyone else was curious about the case.
