Are you on one of the custom ROM's that are mentioned in the first post and in the thread title? This theme is ONLY for those ROM's.

No, sorry. Dive into the development section and start reading. Everybody has different things they like in a ROM. All those ROM's are in the development section. Be sure to read carefully and know what you are doing and you'll be fine.

Even if you didn't want to install a custom rom you could root, install CWM recovery and use UOT kitchen to create the NEXUS S theme.I believe that it will theme stock roms now.
But to be honest root and install a custom rom and turn you phone into a super phone

Most other devices have some sort of thread with all the development stuff organized for easy searching. Please give suggestions as to what I should add and how to organize.
Rooting & Unlocking
How-to Unlock Bootloader & Root
Superboot - Root
One Click Root & Bootloader
ClockWorkMod Recovery GSM Edition
ROMs
Official Factory Image ITL41F
Android Revolution Rom
Modaco Custom Rom
Alpha Rom
Kernels
Franco Kernel
Modaco Kernel
CoolBho3000 Kernel
Mods/Tweaks
Auto Backlight Patch
Soft Button Mods
Volume Bug Fix
Insecure Boot Image
Basebands
XXIK6
XXKK1
System Dumps
LTE System Dump
UK ITL41D
Great post. I think a this should be made as a "stickie"
My suggestion is delete alpha rom, if you look in the thread you will find it is just android revolution renamed by someone and the thread got closed down.
Good idea OP will be nice to have all this together for easy reference and sticky would be good

Maybe add something about how to unroot/return to stock

You will need to look for lte specific things.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
OP as there is GSM and lte versions perhaps create each catagory with specific things for both versions ie; GSM roms root bootloader etc and then lte rom root bootloader
This level of organization with derinately be good for easy referance for all users world wide.

You just flash back to stock rom to get the updates. But the point is once rooted your rom of choice will be updated probably faster than the Google update gets pushed to your phone.
^ This!!!
And why have a galaxy nexus if you want to go back to stock for ota? Its a development device....use the roms the devs release for it...lol.
Do I understand this correctly? Clockwork mod recovery with stock ICS will not give OTA updates from Google???

Yes...although im not sure why this concerns anybody. As fast as development is moving on this device, the devs will have updates out as fast or faster than google releases them via ota.

^Made me laugh.
You can flash the official roms from google with cwm. This way you have your updates faster.
But I should choose a developer rom they have awsome features.

You might want to search to find out what a kernel does first

I have some what of an understanding after reading up on it ... I am just trying to understand how one works with a rom? or the correct one for a rom?
+1 on read the op and you should be fine.
You need to know if your ROM is ics/jellybean and if its aosp based or stock based.
Always make a backup before flashing something just to be safe.

Head over to the development and original development sections to find some kernels. To know whether it is compatible with your phone and ROM, read the opening post thoroughly and do research. All of your questions are common and answers are out there when you search. Reading is the best thing you can do for yourself here on XDA.

Search before posting. Someone just asked this yesterday and 3 days ago. But to answer the question, you cannot update with a custom recovery installed. You can find the update in the development section and flash it.
