Can't get USB Debugging to work in FC24 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Sorry if this has been addressed, but after flashing the FC24 rooted rom, I wanted to go back and flash CWM on the phone. I checked off the box for USB debugging in developer options, but when I plug the phone into the computer, the phone connects a a media device and the only other option it gives me is to connect as a digital camera. I know all the correct drivers are on the computer otherwise I wouldn't have been able to Odin FC24. Any help would really be appreciated.

USB debugging needs to be on, not off
It doesnt sound like you are in Download Mode. Bottom volume + Power.
Also try rebooting PC, someone already mentioned different USB ports, reinstall Odin, etc.

I tried rebooting the pc, using a different cable, and reinstalling Odin. I still cant get my phone to detect in odin mode. Any advice or help please?

This sounds like your problem. Same thing happened to me first time I tried to root.
No dinging noise and the phone is NOT recognized in device manager. I think i may have a faulty USB port on the phone.

I did not put on ICS. I am currently runnning caulkin rom

win7 won't recognize device

I am not rooted. Have yet to figure it out. I have rooted everything I had but this device. Followed albert wertz method for my last device. It was fine but maybe its a samsung update or a win update; I am not sure what the issue is. I am just trying to transfer files from cell>pc vice versa. Drivers are installed and trying the samsung toolkit too but it apparently thinks that debugging mode isn't checked cause it gets stuck there everytime.

What I did was turn off my phone then plug in the usb cable then power the phone on. That's what worked for me.

Hope I'm giving the right answer. this is what i found in the C drive under the samsung toolkit folder
Samsung_USB_Driver_1.5.15.0
drivers
I can't post links yet, but do a search on google "samsung l710 drivers" and hit the first link. It should take you to Samsung's website and you can get the drivers there.
Also, check if the device is in the right mode by doing the following:
On the dialer, dial *#7284# (*#PATH#).
Set the UART to PDA.
Click on Qualcomm USB Settings and change it to MTP+ADB.
If it was set to RMNET + DM + MODEM for example, checking the USB Debugging option will not enable debugging.

PC won't recognise GT-N7100 when connected.

I have read lots of threads in this forum but no solutions seem to fix my problem.
I have the GT-N7100. Unlocked, not rooted & standard factory ROM.
When I connect it to my PC (Win7-64) via USB, it is not recognised at all. It charges, but the PC won`t recognise it.
I have installed and uninstalled Kies twice.
I have installed and uninstalled the device drivers twice.
I have tried different USB cables, different USB ports and different PCs - same issue every time.
Please help!

try enabling/disabling usb debugging or developer options altogether if it is still not fixed then
try reflashing stock rom. maybe some modification you did and don't remember.

That's what I'm thinking too. I might have to do a factory reset rather than re-flash though - it's a viscious circle - the PC won't recognise the device so I can re-flash ROM
I was trying to avoid this course of action though :crying:
Does anyone else have other suggestions before I do this?
(BTW, I did try enabling/disabling debugging already)
OK, so I eventually got too frustrated and did a full factory reset ... my PC (or KIES) still won't see the Note 2?
Anyone....????

Could be solved by changing UART mode to USB mode through code *#7284#. UART ... choose MODEM and USB choose PDA. I have found this in on xda thread. But you will probably need to do it every boot myte help tempry :fingers-crossed:

I should probably be a bit more specific about this question... I would love to get a new kernel (and ROM, and even just root the device) but I no PC will recognise that the GN2 is connected - so Odin or anything won't run.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for this suggestion but it didn't seem to work either - UART was MODEM and USB was PDA already but I toggled them etc to try to force reset.
Ideas?
Download redpill via forums and flash iy via recovery.
If you don't have recovery get the img file from here and rename the img file to recovery.Img and flash it via mobile odin.
You don't need a pc to do stuff.
Everything can be done from phone itself.
Remember to use the latest version.

Just do one thing , download fresh kies .exe file from official samsung site & try to instal it again on your pc !!:good:

Hi Mate,
This seems to me to be a driver issue. Check device manager, you might have a yellow bang there, uninstall and reinstall the driver from there.
Do get back if you need further instructions.
Cheers, Sumit
ya m8 ,y the kernel change,u said its stock so it mus b recognizd by ur pc..even wen u uninstall kies ,its better to restart an install it again..i facd this with my s2 an i removd kies fully an installd it the the main issue is the usb drivers u got to see the usb ports too were u connect cause i face prblm wen using the same port for s1,s2,gs note2 ...i use it in diff ports specially for flashing ,odin stuff...
Still no joy
Hi
I have still had not luck with device drivers, etc.
I have obtained Mobile Odin Pro, by I would like to clarify, the app clearly states that the device must be rooted to run. My device is not rooted - how can I root it? ( I have tried ExynosAbuse but it doesn't work). or can I do this with Mobile Odin?
Thanks for your help.
Theres a software called mobilego. Try installing it cand connect your phone. If it identifies your phone u can atleast take a back up. I had the same problem with a S2 i was using couple of months back. Never got it connected thru kies.

Omg I just told the whole procedure. Please specify what you want understand.
this is XXXDDDAAA
I am missing something here?
If one don't have root and unable to connect to PC how mobile odin will work?
It needs root, and somewhere I read exynose abuse not worked. So there is no chance.
@OP
Try cleaning usb socket in device. Remove battery and clean usb socket very carefully, i have seen few cases where charging can be oossible but still unable to get connect to PC due to faulty socket. Otherwise go to service centre and ask them to check for same.

[Q] S3 doesn't recognize USB connection or Turn on Wi-fi

Hi everyone,
I'm a new user and I have a T-mobile S3. After using the Toolkit V7 to Root/Install Recovery/Busybox (ALL-IN-ONE option), my S3 doesn't recognize USB connection with my computer anymore. Also I cannot turn on Wi-fi either.
I'm really in panic mode right now because there is no USB connection, there is no way I can restore it back to stock via Odin. I really appreciate your help.

Have you gone into developer options and made sure that USB debugging is on? If its on, have you tried to turn it off? Also try different USB ports. If that doesn't work, are you hearing any connection sound when you plug the USB cable into the computer? If you are, I would uninstall the drivers from control panel, make sure the device is unplugged, reboot, install the drivers again, then plug the device back in.
What is happening when you try to turn on WiFi? Is it going on then going off? Have you tried a factory reset?
There are many things that can be done to fix this.
Considering that you are a new user, what model is your phone? T999, T999L, T999V, something else?
If it a T999L like I'm suspecting, its probably the toolkit. Doesn't it flash an insecure kernel? (Never used it so I don't remember, sorry).

USB debugging is on. I already tried all ports, with different laptop. The connecting sound is there. I also see the USB icon on the phone.
When I click on the toggle, it's turn on and off right away.
My model is T999

Try a factory reset - settings/backup and reset.
I'm assuming that you have broken USB drivers since the sound is coming through and the phone is recognizing that it is connected to the computer. Its happened to me before. A way I found around it when the drivers just weren't working is I made a virtual machine in virtual box and installed the USB drivers there. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
I don't remember if PDANet drivers work on the S3 or not.

Try uninstalling kies and the USB drivers. Then reinstall drivers only. Link in my sig.
What rom/kernel/modem/recovery/mods have you flashed?
What are you currently running?
Can you plug your sd into the computer? You can copy a stock rom that way and flash in recovery.
You could also use Mobile Odin to flash the firmware.

debugging on your phone i think in 2.3.6 its-Open the Settings. --Now tap on “Applications”.--And then go to “Development”.--Check the option: “USB debugging”... if its not on(checked)ODIN will not read it if USB DEBUGGING is turned off and as far as KIES you need to make sure its not running anywhere force stop it kill it in your processes etc.. no trace of KIES and then go to download mode again and try
