[Q] S-Off without wiping device - HTC One X

Maybe it's a stupid question, but wiping my data after restoring everything from my old N1 just to s-off my device is a bit of a pain.
Is there any plan to release a root method without having to wipe everything?
[EDIT] couldn't resist. Wiped the device.

Safe to factory reset after rooting?

Hello all, I was just wondering if it would be safe to wipe my phone (Factory reset) after rooting? I just figured it would be better for my phone if it was wiped and rooted, kinda like a fresh start.

[Q] Stock, root, s-off, Upgrade to 5.0

Howdy, I have a TMobile HTC M8 One currently running stock kit kat with TWRP, Root, and S-Off. I have seen quite a few 5.0 posts regarding upgrading, but they all seemed slightly different (S-On, wipe, etc).
I am trying to upgrade my phone to 5.0 without doing a wipe. I have a lot of important data on my phone (and I have a nandroid backup), but I would like to avoid the "reinstall everything for days" cycle following an update. Also, I'm not much of an expert on doing this stuff. I generally become a temporary expert every 6 months or so when I need to do something important, and then I immediately forget everything.
So, what is the easiest way for a noob (with root, TWRP, and S-OFF) to upgrade to 5.0 without needing a wipe?
Thanks in advance!
Titanium backup
Wipe and install new ROM
Restore apps
Google will restore your settings
Manually set any you miss
If you just update from 4.4.4 to 5.0 without a wipe, you will almost certainly have issues.
I did that last time I worked on my phone. When I reinstalled titanium backup, it magically didn't actually have any of my data and I was sunk. Also, I don't sync my settings (or any data that I can control) with Google. Hence my apprehension at doing it again.
Thanks for the response, but I would like to avoid a wipe. If it causes issues afterwards, then so be it and I will deal with it then. for now though, I would like to at least try.

Can't decrypt old data

I have a t-mobile htc 10 unlocked bootloader and S-Off . Okay, first I was on Viper rom and decided to S-Off with sunshine. It said to use the S-Off Locked option, which I did. Upon reboot my device was encrypted and I couldnt decrypt it. I did a nandroid backup to my SD card, and formatted my data. No matter what I tried I couldn't get it to decrypt, so I did factory reset and started over. I still have the backup and the default password still doesn't work. Just curious to if I can decrypt it and salvage some of my data on it? I back up somewhat regularly to my SD card, but I forgot a few things. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks and God bless in advance.
The S-off process clearly says that you should do a factory reset before you S-off. This is because after you s-off, it messes up the decryption keys and your data will no longer be accessable. And that is why you have to wipe data partition after s-off, so new keys are generated.
So AFAIK, there's no way to recover the data.
Though if it's a nandroid backup, there's an option in titanium backup to recover data from nandroid backups. You can try that.
Hello,
Questions belong in Q&A and you already have a duplicate thread there so I'm closing this one.

Data recovery after factory data reset

My phone was erased and reset remotely from one of the google accounts I was using. Now all recovery softwares require a rootef phone. All methods of rooting factory reset the phone. Will thr data be recoverable after two resets? Are there ways to root the phone without reseting. Currently on the latest stock build.
Sorry but I think the answer is no, it's the bootloader unlock process that will wipe the phone.

Wifi wont turned on after restoring backup on twrp, help

short-story, i ****ed up while fiddling with my phone.
i wipe everything in twrp (dalvik, system, data, chache), then proceed to restore a backup.
the only backup that i have is a backup from when i was about to root the phone, https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/oneplus-3-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t3398733.
but silly me the only thing that i backup was the Boot and System only.
if i restore both it will require me to also flash supersu or else it wont boot,
if i restore system only it will boot.
now here's the problem, both do works but the wifi wont turned on. it practically brick my phone...
is there a way to fix this?
or do i have to flash stock rom or something? if i have to, how to actually do it properly... im afraid i'll f up again
edit:
i've tried flashing rom from oneplus official website, it said
E3004: This package is for "One Plus 3" devices; this is a ""
nvm guys, figured it out on my own
i use unbricking method, https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/unbrick-phone-msmdownloadtool-v3-0-6-t3575801 to practically rejuvenate my phone, it literally undid everything.
and the rest is updating and re-rooting my device again...
cheers,
