I installed [DEV][UNOFFICIAL]CyanogenMod 7.2-GIO[Update: March 26, 2012] this week, but the alarm only goes through the headphone socket, and will not play through the speaker.
thread found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381355&highlight=alarm
I searched that thread, and here for "audio headphones" and could not find a post that matched my problem. I would have pasted there, but my post count is to low...
I have tried "Gentle Alarm" and "Alarm Clock Xtreme" which have settings to force sound through the speaker with no success.
I don't want to go back to a stock rom, are there other steps I can try?

SMS and other notifications have "Fade in" applied. Just like the Ringer fade in.
How can I remove this and get max sound from start of sound?
All my notifications are short, so they are very low because there is no time to fade in.
If I test sound with Notification Settings, the first sound is always low, but successive sounds are ok.
I miss many SMS'es and IM's because of this....
Is there a fix? I do not think win6.1 did this, but I may remember wrong.

hey has anybody got the sound for the rigtones working yet
is there a fix ? patch ? etc....
thanks
search the threads and you will find your answers there.
seriously?
if you want info on whether or not the ringtone/external speaker issue has been solved, check the dev threads. If there is a breakthrough they will all have updated it already since its a problem plaguing all rhodium devices.

Come on, man this was his first post, I understand that it's frustrating when someone posts without having read the stickies, but it's posts like that, which are so decidedly unhelpful.
For example, this is a good response, it berates him for not having read but it also contains USEFUL information:

Ring tones are working
Ring tones are fixed in the latest build as of 08/30/2010, i.e. sound is working in general.
In my case to actually get the handset to ring on incoming calls, I had to conduct the following steps (before that only the silent option was available as a "ring tone"):
go to settings -> Dev tools -> media scanning. Perform media scan. After that the OS restarted and the phone started ringing. Yeah...
cheers
BTW, I just noticed that the media scanning has to be conducted each time one the handset is turned on, otherwise the phone is not ringing.
Can anybody confirm that?
In addition I am not able change the ring tones in settings -> sound -> incoming calls. Why is that and can this be changed?
Has anyone found that if they use their own ringtone, an incoming call only rings once? I've tried converting my ringtones from .mp3 to .ogg but it still only rings once. If I switch to a stock ringer, the an incoming call rings over and over like it should.
ringtones
my tounch pro2 with the latest blazin build will use any mp3 i chose to use as a default ringtone and will ring more than once and play the full song. But on the other hand my other cell has all the same setup but only shows silent only, so it could be just the headset itself and not the build.

It's the card. Format it with the HP tool. Full format. Also, BLAZN is pretty outdated (9.28 was the last update).
(I did use google and the search function for this, without sucess)
I've been using android (CM7 RC0) for one and a half week for now, so far so good, but I'm having a problem with the alarm clock.
Lost class one day, the alarm didn't go off on speakers, because I left my headphones plugged in the night before, listening to music.
So, I figured out "Always play on speaker" settings under CyanogenMod settings, and checked it.
Next day, guess what, it didn't wake me up.
Found out that while music is playing (it kept playing all night long, after I slept) even with the "always play on speaker" checked, the alarm only sounds on the headphones.
Searched for settings to correct this problem, there is a "volume while music playing" option, but it doesn't give me the option to ring on speakers while music is playing.
Does anybody know a solution for this problem?
Thanks.
I'd recommend you to use Alarm Clock Xtreme (free) you can find it in the market.
It has an option to force your alarm through the speakers even with headphones plugged in, it also has a lot more nice features!
Thanks!
Will test it later today, I hope I don't lose any more appointments because of that.
I don't know if this is a silly issue, could this be a suggestion for the Cyanogen devs to add the "always on speaker while music playing" option under the existing menu?
Thanks for your help, the suggested alarm did work. Funny thing is when it rings on speakers, the music that was playing at the headphones is also redirected to the speakers, it becomes a messy sound Anyways, it WILL wake me up!
I'm glad I could help you. I never knew it would mix the alarm sound and music sound when the alarm goes off (haven't used that feature yet). The "always on speaker while music playing" option in Cyanogenmod should do the same thing so I guess this is a bug.
or get a music player app with a "sleep function". i.e. click on 120mins and the app will self close/turn off the music in 120mins... so your alarm can sound in the morning via speaker... not as flexible but just another option.
Anyone else notice notifications (text/email) do not play over headphones? Is it me or WTF?
Note - I am rooted and using Domination HD rom, but honestly I do not remember them playing through headphones with factory rom.

[email protected], you're becoming the watchman for this forum, looking out for repeat postings lol. I wish Chris can just delete them or move them to the appropriate thread. I've been seeing so many new thread pop up lately asking the same questions we've been discussing a couple of months ago. As usual, nobody tries to search for it first.
Anywho, I just wanna mention one thing too regarding notifications. My situation is the opposite to what some people are experiencing. When people say they don't hear the notifications through the headsets, I can hear mine on the headsets AND on the phone as well. Yes, what I'm trying to say is that the notification rings on both the headset as well as on the built in speaker WITH the headsets PLUGGED IN. I didnt realize this until one day I was in the bus and had only one headset on and turned of the music when a text came in and i heard it on the free ear. I was like omg, have the other passengers been hearing this loud notifications all these times (I text a lot and thought they never heard anything) and I felt really bad.
Then I found out that the only way for notifications to not be heard on the built in speaker is to enable silent mode, in which the phone only vibrates. The funny part to that is that all notifications including ringtones still work normally on the headset, so I can hear notifications still without bothering people. I just have to remember to take it of silent mode once I disconnect the headset.

Thanks for the heads up! Weird that there are so many different symptoms of essentially the same issue - routing of notification audio.
The phone Speaker is way too loud on lowest Settings. My ears are bleeding when the Alarm Rings on lowest!
I think it's the OOS 3.5.1 Rom.
Have you this Problem too?

Which ROM are u using?
Sent from my OnePlus3 using XDA Labs
I think I remember reading somewhere that turning dolby off lowers the notification volume.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Oxygen OS 3.5.1
I see the same issue on completely stock 3.2.4. The notifications sound is very loud. In other oneplus threads I saw that you should uncheck the option 'link notification and ringer volume' in sound setting, which will separate the notification sound from the ringer volume. However, I cannot see the option there and I can only control three volume levels - ringer, media, and alarm clock. I vaguely remember that the option was there when I got the phone with the previous version of OOS, however, I cannot locate it now...
If you want to change the Volume in smaller Steps install Gravity Box and Xposed Framework, there is a tweak for this
Same here. Alarm on lowest volume setting is louder than the maximum volume on my OPX.
I get a heart-attack every morning when the alarm goes off.
(stock 3.2.4)
Same here I tried to use the 3rd party applications but the minimum level of alarm clock sound is done by the system.
Xposed is not solution for me - I don't want to root my OP3.
Now I use the old Samsug Glaxy Trend for morning waking up...

With boeffla Kernel installed you can set the volume lower with boeffla Sound.
