hey has anybody got the sound for the rigtones working yet
is there a fix ? patch ? etc....
thanks
search the threads and you will find your answers there.
seriously?
if you want info on whether or not the ringtone/external speaker issue has been solved, check the dev threads. If there is a breakthrough they will all have updated it already since its a problem plaguing all rhodium devices.

Come on, man this was his first post, I understand that it's frustrating when someone posts without having read the stickies, but it's posts like that, which are so decidedly unhelpful.
For example, this is a good response, it berates him for not having read but it also contains USEFUL information:

Ring tones are working
Ring tones are fixed in the latest build as of 08/30/2010, i.e. sound is working in general.
In my case to actually get the handset to ring on incoming calls, I had to conduct the following steps (before that only the silent option was available as a "ring tone"):
go to settings -> Dev tools -> media scanning. Perform media scan. After that the OS restarted and the phone started ringing. Yeah...
cheers
BTW, I just noticed that the media scanning has to be conducted each time one the handset is turned on, otherwise the phone is not ringing.
Can anybody confirm that?
In addition I am not able change the ring tones in settings -> sound -> incoming calls. Why is that and can this be changed?
Has anyone found that if they use their own ringtone, an incoming call only rings once? I've tried converting my ringtones from .mp3 to .ogg but it still only rings once. If I switch to a stock ringer, the an incoming call rings over and over like it should.
ringtones
my tounch pro2 with the latest blazin build will use any mp3 i chose to use as a default ringtone and will ring more than once and play the full song. But on the other hand my other cell has all the same setup but only shows silent only, so it could be just the headset itself and not the build.

It's the card. Format it with the HP tool. Full format. Also, BLAZN is pretty outdated (9.28 was the last update).

Hi all.
I have an MDA c.III with WM6.
Everything seems to work fine, except the phone does not ring when called.
I can hear audio (tried mp3 and FM radio), I hear ther reminders from calendar and tasks, I also hear the SMS notification.
However, when someone calls me, the MDA vibrates (if set to do so) but does not ring.
Upon choosing the ring, if i "click" the test button the ring sounds.
When called, it doesn't.
I have tried quite a lot with settings (there are several points for this in the software) to setup the rings; however, it simply doesn't make a sound upon incoming calls.
Would anyone have any suggestion (or simply the solution) for this problem?
Gyc
Had a similar problem and found that other installed software seemed to effect it. Similar tale with sms notification but a soft reset seemed to resolve the issue but it's not an ideal solution.
Most likely this is a file association problem. If you've installed another media player and associated WAV, MP3, WMA, etc. then the phone will not ring. The association needs to remain with the Windows Mobile Media Player.
I've tried to verify this, but where do I tind the file associations in WM6?

Is the phone volume (as opposed to the pda sound volume) slider turned up ?
Phone volume is ok (there are 2 sliders, one for PDA, one for phone).
I checked file associations with Total Commander.
Media files are correctly associated with windows media player; when "clicked" upon WMP starts and plays the files, including the ring tones.
However, when called the phone still does not ring...
What the heck...

Puzzling. I guess you've checked all the obvious things - ring volume, settings in the phone options, sound & notification options, etc. Have you also tested if the phone will vibrate if you turn audio off, or does it still go directly to VM? Has it ever rang? Do you have any other phone / dialer software running, a recent change? Could be a ROM or [gasp] self-inflicted issue. If all else fails - hard reset or switch ROMs.

I got it second hand; the information I have is that it used to ring and vibrate normally before it got to me.

No other phone software.
No recent changes that I have performed, apart from the normal menu items personalization, chosing ring tones, audio volume and adding a few mp3's.

I'd really need to avoid that because I use the phone for work and 1) do not have the time right now to reisntall all the applications 2) cannot risk to brick the phone and be left "hanging" without.

The only other suggestion I might offer is to ensure that your ringtones are good. Try using the stock ringtones that came with the Windows Mobile, if you aren't already. You can find them in these forums if you need them. Maybe also try different types, all small files, such as WAV, WMA, MP3 and see if you can make ANY of them work.
All media files work when played with WMP.
Also, while configuring the ringtones, hitting the "test" button ringtons play ok.
That's precisely the odd thing.
Everything works fine (calendar alerts, alarm, sms slerts, fm radio, mp3's, etc.) except that when called the phone does not ring!
So far it is the ONLY thing that does not work in my phone!
It's sooo frustrating...

Check settings by starting the phone (green phone button) > Menu > Options > Services tab > select Call Forwarding > click Get Settings.
Ensure you don't have the "Forward all incoming phone calls" box unchecked. Also check the third drop down list that indicates how many seconds before forwarding to voice mail. Set it to 20 or 30 seconds.
Should look something like the attached. Except your voicemail service number will be different depending upon your location. If this doesn't work, then I'm tapped of ideas - sorry.
Thanks for the suggestion, but didn't work.
I suppose I'm only left with hard reset...
But I'd really hate to do it...
.wav and .mp3 will play but not .wma
I'm having this same problem too. I think I caused the problem when I installed MortPlayer and associated file extensions with Mort. Even with uninstalling Mort, .wma files won't play. What's interesting is .wav files and .mp3 WILL play as the ringtone. I've checked file associations and .wma = Media Player but the .wav extension is somehow not listed (using Schaaps Advanced Config to see file extensions.) Thoughts on this very frustrating problem are appreciated!
I'm sorry if I'm not very encouraging, but I simply gave up.
I use my phnoe mostly for work, so I cannot afford to have it inoperative as I try other roms or windows installations.
In some way, I have come around the problem by using a bluetooth earpiece that rings. It's not very loud, but it helps.
Hello gyc,
I also had that problem several times and in my case it was always related to 3rd party MP3-Software. Have a look at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Problems and try, if fixing the entries at the registry (e.g. using total commander ce) helps ...

VAlert is a small program to get customized vibrations during incoming call. When playing a long mp3 ringtone, it is impossible to get short vibrations, only a constant one. This program will solve the issue.
Update script.txt with vibration and pause times (in msec)
Set special ringing sound for unknown caller id. Replace Unknown.wav with your custom sound. Delete the file if you don't need this feature.
Suggestions for new versions are welcomed.
Version 1.10
Test option added
Vibration enabled only when enabled in phone profile
Bugs fixed

thanks buddy, I will try that when I get sick of V23
I love it
Thanks it works!
Thanks! Saved for future reference..
I posted this the other day. It never showed up? Did someone delete it?
Anyways - My phone just seems to ring only once when I call it. It will continue to ring through but only without ringing. If I put vibrate as a choice it will vibrate but other wise it just is silent and rings until voicemail.
I don't have a profile setup for ring that I can see.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Noticed this myself, it doesn't seem to loop the ring tone but will continue to vibrate

+1 same here
I think the problem may lie with the audio file. It seems to loop with the default ringtones but not with custom. May need to set the audio files to loop?
What kind of audio format are you using?
In a German board some guy had this issue with .ogg and could fix it by using . mp3 instead.
Haven't checked by self cause I always pick up the phone instantly.
I am using the the standard ring tones with the Nexus. It's called Digital Phone.
I have tried all the rings tones and they all do the same exact thing. Ring once and then silence or If the setting is changed to Ring and Vibrate then it will vibrate..
Update: I did notice something after playing around with it a little longer. Even though one of the included ring tones is Ditigal Phone and many others. There are many tones that start from D-Z do not loop when you are testing the tones. Any ringtone from Digital Ring Tone and below do not loop in playback.
So that must be the case for me at least. Anyone test it out and confirm?
When playing ringtones to see if they loop - I can't get anything from Digital RingTone and below to play in a loop for testing.

Ok so far I like it - and I love the watch
Maybe a have this wrong....
Mute the watch also mutes the phone
muting the phone does not mute the watch????
So you are in a meeting and you place your hand over the phone, or flip it on its back to mute but your watch keeps ringing! Is it working differently for other people? It just seems so dumb - when would you want to mute the phone in a situation as above but want the watch to keep making sound?
App makers - start building - help us to get the most out of this new asset
I am finding the speaker to be inconsistent across manufacturer phones. I have an LG G4 and it mostly plays nice. I haven't put the call feature through the full tests but I did notice that when I was on the phone-phone and a 2nd call came through, flipping over to the 2nd caller automatically caused my watch to activate and audio conversation came from the watch, even though I did everything on the phone.
I haven't checked the muted issues, but that could really be an issue I need to really test. I have constant conference calls where I mute. I also work from home most days. I would HATE HATE HATE to mute the phone and talking dirty to my passing GF. Fortunately I do not wear the watch much at home but good to know.
sound Alarm
Sorry can not help you in terms of your question, I'm looking to settle another matter! How can add and change alarm tones or notifications, because I have not found tones than only to call?

You have to do it manually, and you have to be rooted. Admittedly this info. is in the the wrong thread, but Motawa88 posted there, so I helped him out there.
Starting at post #353: http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...skin1980s-huawei-watch-kernel-t3219576/page36
I suggest maybe starting a separate thread instead of posting ringtone/alarm tones in a kernel thread :good:
I as well as many other previous Nexus 6p owners have been noticing that ringtones / notifications only come out of the bottom speaker of the Pixel 2 XL. The irony of this is that any app besides the "Settings" app has all sound coming out of both speakers. Is there a program / workaround anyone knows of? I don't care if I have to root my phone; I want to use my dual front facing speakers!
Thanks,
~Mike
Too bad this apparently is not considered a bug, its just how its suposed to work. In my opinion its pretty dumb not to allow both speakers on incoming calls/notifications from Google.
I'm getting sounds out of both speakers when my phone rings. Not sure if this happened before I updated to 8.1, but I don't think so. Tested it with more than one ringtone, stock and custom. Now, my problem is the screen won't come on when the phone rings. I hope an update to the phone app fixes this soon.
Yes my also only the bottom one firing. Any solution?
Bumping this up, any solution?
Can someone please make a mod to enable dual speakers for ringtones?
Currently.. i am studying about sound mod on pixel 2 oreo 8.1.
My main objective is to fix the crackling issue.. btw.. i will look into this one too

I use a Tasker profile to get around this issue. Basically, I monitor the status of calls, and when the phone is ringing, I play my ringtone as media. Then as soon as the call is answered or ignored (offhook or idle), the exit task stops the media. I just set my actual ringtone in settings to "none". Other than that, it behaves exactly like a ringtone should. My task also matches the media volume to the ringtone volume while ringing, then restores the previous media volume setting. That way, if your phone is on vibrate, it won't still ring out loud. I can do a detailed write up on how I did it if anyone needs it.

Like I said in other posts, sound does come out of both speakers with calls and notifications. When you're choosing a sound in settings, it does indeed only come out of the bottom speaker. I can't believe I'm the only one who has sounds coming out of both speakers when a call comes in. I've tested it with multiple sounds, too.

Confused with what you are saying. Are you saying that when you choose a ringtone in settings you no longer have it coming out of only the bottom speaker?

Yes. It only comes out of the bottom speaker when I'm picking the sound. When someone calls, I hear it from both speakers. I've tried this with both custom and system sounds.

Thanks a lot! I've only used profiles and tasks in Tasker before, but your project imported just fine. All I had to do was change your task's ringtone to mine and set my phone's ringtone to none. Now to wait for someone to call me.

ccoulterjg1 - please provide detailed instructions on how to get tasker profile to resolve the issue of the ring volume using the ring speaker configuration instead of the media speaker configuration, which should resolve the issue, as media volume is quite loud and ring volume is not (I need to be able to hear my phone ring when I am sleeping, and on-call).
