HTC ONE X to T-Mobile??! - HTC One X

Was looking around and decided instead of putting tmobile.com to put tmobile.co.uk and found in the upcoming area the HTC One S & HTC One X both some time this month (April)
Sent From My Rockin' Galaxy S 4G

Yeah, T-Mobile UK is getting both phones. T-Mobile in the US is only confirmed to be offering the One S.

Do you know if the UK (or other international) version of the One X will work on T-Mobile in the US? Specifically 3G/4G networks... Thanks!

There's literally four other threads on the first page about this..
The phone does NOT have the bands required for T-Mobile in MOST of the US. Some people on the west coast will get 3G/Fake 4G using the 1900mhz band, but most of the US does not have this band.
The AT&T version uses the 1700mhz band FOR LTE, so it also will not work on T-Mobile unless as previously specified, you are in a 1900mhz area.

I am not sure if this has been answered before, but will the European Models work with the USA Tmobile's HSPA+ bands?
I want to purchase one from Europe, but if the data will not work obviously there is no point.
Thank you in advance.
No, unless you happen to be lucky enough to live in an area with the 1900mhz band deployed.

Which AFAIK is a very small number of places in California.
If I understand correctly, they're planning to expand that greatly over the next couple of years though, likely hoping to poach iPhone / iPad users off other networks.
i thought 1900 was the 2g data band and tmo 3g and 4g is 2100?

T-Mob has started (in a very few number of places) switching to 1900MHz 4G.

We have 1900Mhz here in Utah
My friend's iPhone 4S gets 3G on T-Mo, so if I can get the cash I'll definitely grab a One X.

This response is pretty much a no response. It is known that T-Mo has deployed 1900 UMTS in parts of US. T-Mobile also announced refarming their 1900 GSM to 1900 UMTS. In order to get a good answer, it's best to talk to a high level T-Mo customer serv/tech serv.

There was one rumor that the One X will come to T-Mo as the G4X. There hasn't been any recent news on the rumor tho. So continue keeping your fingers crossed.

AT&T Galaxy Note II only Tri-Band 3G?! No FM Radio?!

So AT&T's website finally has the Note II listed, I noticed it only lists it having Tri-Band 3G (850/1900/2100 MHz) as well as the FM Radio not being listed as a feature. You guys think this is just AT&T software disabling the extra band and the radio or what? I'm kind of disappointed as I was hoping AT&T wouldn't be gimping the Note this time around...
It lists LTE right at the top of the specs.

Guys what I'm saying is that the AT&T Note II doesn't support Quad-Band 3G like the international does. I thought they were all supposed to be the same across carriers.

The N7105 does have LTE, but it doesnt support AT&T bands. The N7100 does not have LTE. Both versions are international.
So you were correct in thinking - don't feel stupid
There are 4 versions of Note:
1. International (+LTE): SGH-7100 / SGH -7105
2. SGH-i317 : ATT+(Rogers+Bell + Telus): HSPA 850/900/1900/2100, LTE: 700/850/1700/1900
3. SCH-i605 : CDMA + LTE 700
4. SGH-T889 : T-Mobile+Mobilicity+Wind : HSPA: 850/900/1700/1900/2100, LTE: 700, 1700
These are from FCC filings
EDIT: I posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956264

Some info in this thread is just plain contradiction. For example, the above two quoted posts contradict to each other. Is AT&T tri-band or quad-band UMTS after all?
It comes down to what to believe, because FCC filings contradicts to what people say and what cellphone website says. For example, phonearena lists the band specs of i-317 as this:
GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz / UMTS 850, 1900, 2100 MHz / LTE 700 MHz Class 17, 1700/2100 MHz
Here, i-317 is quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G (not what FCC filing says).
Also, the website lists T889 as this:
GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz / UMTS 850, 1700/2100, 2100 MHz / NO LTE
Here, T889 has 3G 850, AWS, 2100, which also is not what FCC filing says, besides there is no LTE support.
Some information here has got to be misinformation, but which one is it?

I agree on the contradiction for sure, what FCC tested vs what is being listed are different. The OP I had had the links to the FCC filings as well but I guess they we against the rules because mods removed the links.
Ye I wasn't giving doubt on the credibility of your source. It's just that i'm kind of confused by all kinds of information. Both phonearena and pdadb (checked just now) shows that T889 has no LTE support and even more interesting, pdadb lists i317 as quad-band UMTS, which phonearena lists as tri-band... I know it sounds like a nerd but it's driving me crazy as I'm doing research and decide on which version to get LOL
For now, I guess I'll only need to know if it's ever possible to flash N7100 rom onto i317 or T889, if not, i'm giving up LTE and stay with faster/earlier European OTA updates, like *DBT* :good:

[Q] GSM/HSDPA/LTE bands for T-Mobile S4 (SGH-M919)

Hi there,
Can anyone confirm for sure and tested the following question:
How many bands for GSM, HSDPA and LTE does the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 (M919) have? Are they the same bands as the International S4 LTE (I9505)?
Based on the wikipedia page for Samsung Galaxy S4, the model I9505 has more LTE bands than the T-Mobile M919 version, is that completely true and technically proven?
Most of the websites state that the M919 and the I9505 has the same bands for all GSM, HSDPA and LTE.
I appreciate if someone can lead me to the ultimate answer.
Thanks.
Tmobile uses AWS for 4g LTE which requires 2100/1700 frequency. The GT-i9505 only supports 2100mhz i believe, which is not enough.
I think the GT-i9505 supports one of the several frequencies that Tmobile uses for HDSPA, so HDSPA coverage may be a bit spotty with the phone. This was referenced off the top of my head, but I had done some research online about this before as I had similar questions as you.

I9505 lacks the 1700MHz LTE band which is needed in T-Mobile LTE.

Hey so looking at the wiki that you guys posted up there it says following for the tmobile version: 700 MHz (Band 17), CLR, AWS, PCS, IMT, IMT-E
now i somehow got my hand on one of these devices in europe for rather cheap and totally new, so im confused now what these CLR, AWS, PCS, IMT, IMT-E are, does any of these stand for any other than the 700mhz band? like 1700/1800mhz? or in other words, is it possible to get lte to work in europe with the tmobile usa s4? Can the modem perhaps be flashed with an i9505 one and than get the additional bands or is the hardware actualyl that different (as in antennas and amplifiers)?
Its not really a dealbreaker for me as LTE in my country is quite some time away but still, would like to know.
thanks
In simple words, the LTE bands are (not in order): Band 1 (2100), Band 2 (1900), Band 4 (1700), Band 5 (850), Band 7 (2600), Band 17 (700), so we have the LTE bands available for the T-Mobile version: 700, 850, 1700, 1900, 2100 and 2600.

No, you can't flash a I9505 rom to a M919 device, if you do, you will brick it. The best option for you to get 800 and 1800 frequencies is to go for the GT-I9505, it's the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE version, and it has the following bands for LTE Cat 3 (800 / 850 / 900 / 1,800 / 2,100 / 2,600 MHz). This is the official Samsung page: http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone/smartphone/GT-I9505ZKAXSA-spec

Yes, it seems that the I9505 has LTE bands for each region, it's not dedicated for America (North, Central and South), it also support Europe and Asia, while it doesn't contain most bands for a specific region, it's a world phone, unlucky doesn't fully support T-Mobile 4G UTMS network (1700/2100), but still a good option for those who travel to other continents.

You have to see the frequencies of the carrier
But, probably, yes!
in a word, no.
It has no CDMA radio, which is required for voice. Not to mention VZW hasn't ever let you bring a device to their network from the outside.

VZW uses two different technologies.
the voice is carried on CDMA as is their 3G EVDO data.
LTE is used, but not the same bands as AT&T or T-Mobile.
The only major carriers in the US on GSM are T-Mobile and AT&T (and their mvno's)

850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G - UMTS/ HSPA:
Europe/ Middle East/ Africa: 900/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps
Asia: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps
Canada/ Latin America: 850/1900/2100 MHz up to HSPA+ 42 Mbps
T-Mobile (US): 850/ AWS/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps
AT&T: 850/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps
Sprint: 1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 14.4 Mbps
3G - CDMA:
800/1900 MHz for Sprint
4G - LTE:
Europe/ Middle East/ Africa: 800/1800/2600 MHz
Asia: 1800/2600 MHz
T-Mobile (US)/ AT&T/ Canada/ Latin America: 700 MHz and AWS band
Sprint: 1900 MHz
On the Samsung Galaxy S4 for Verizon:
LTE, CDMA/1xEVDO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz)
Global Network: EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA/UMTS(850/900/1900/2100)
It looks to me like the phone supports all ranges and has both styles/types of radios. Has anyone been able to get an unlocked One working with Verizon? Does anyone know how to do it? If I buy an unlocked One, would it come packed with all the network support as listed above or do they manufacture them with only a specific radio/frequency range in mind?

Nope
No
Stop nope, just no.
Verizon and Sprint use CDMA as their base on their Network. The only HTC One with CDMA is the Sprint version. But you can't use the Sprint version on Verizon.
That's why when the Sprint version was released developers had to tweak their roms and recoveries since the outside was the same but the insides no.
Yes LTE is gsm based and requires a GSM radio. And yes when the Verizon HTC one is released it can be used on TMo and AT&T. Since it has both CDMA & GSM radios.
But NO NO NO you CAN NOT use a AT&T, T-Mobile, Dev Edition,Sprint, or Iternational HTC One on Verizon.

which is required for voice.
Until Voice over LTE is fully implemented voice is still falling back into CDMA.

Thanks for your help! I realized I was misunderstanding the way those specs were written, thinking a single phone carried all those ranges and could work equally across the board.
I'm leaning towards getting an unlocked phone for T-Mobile. Any suggestions on where to get it from? If I get it from T-Mobile then it will likely have bloat on it which I don't care for. I could get it from Google Play or HTC's shopamerica...Is there an "easy" way to determine whether or not a phone will fully function on a particular network? Clearly my line of thinking on just making sure the frequency ranges match up is rather off!
Depends what freq your carrier uses for 3G etc. Only the international and dev edition are bloat free. But your at xda there are threads all over the place to help you debloat.
Again T-Mobile is the only one with 1700 3G band.
The dev doesn't have 1700, but has other extra bands. And the international lacks LTE.
Only Verizon will sell their version of the ONE. All the others are all over the internet.

So if I travel internationally and want to have the use of LTE, it sounds like I would need to get the unlocked "international" One? If the so-called "developer" version of the One doesn't have the 1700 band, will one of the other bands take over/compensate? In other words, will the developer phone still be fully functional? I also assume that by "developer" phone you're referring to both the unlocked 32 and 64Gb phones sold at shopamerica.com?
Lastly, here's what I'm doing: I want to buy a phone that I can use in the US and if I travel to Canada, I want to make sure it is compatible with their networks too so all I would need to do is pick up a new sim card and be off to the races. If I'm understanding everything, then the phone on shopamerica should be sufficient.
Any thoughts? Thanks again for the help! I've never dealt with network matching and unlocked phones. Can you tell?!
Stick with the developer edition since it offers more 3G bands ... LTE outside the US it would depend if whatever carrier you use on that country uses any any of the LTE bands it supports.
A lot of the major carriers around the world use similar 3G bands most will work on this phone. Again it all depends on which carried you use.

Anyone running a T-Mobile note 4 on at&t?

Considering selling my at&t note 4 when my pre-order is filled and buying a T-Mobile version to use on at&t.
Any reception issues?
No issues for me at all. Get great service everywhere, including lte
I was planning on doing so, but I noticed the T-Mobile variant is missing of the LTE Bands that the AT&T one has. Not sure if that will create any problems down the road. Any thoughts on if that matters?

ATT is not using those 2 bands in the US. (20 and 29 lte) It might be for international use in which case I'd rather have the tmobile ones. Anyway, according to Wikipedia they don't even own spectrum in one of those bands so deployment is years off even if they decide to do it. Plus the note 4 would have to go through the FCC again because it wasn't approved to run on those bands in the USA. Those extra bands are not anything to be worried about.
EDIT: Ok, I found some more info. There are no deployments of band 29 in the US yet. Band 29 is downlink only and is used with band 4. This will be AT&T's LTE advanced setup.
Thanks for the info! Time to go to TMobile and get me an unlocked Note 4.. Will they unlock them for you right in the store or no?

Ya, been reading up on it. I still think it will be a while before it gets deployed and probably if you're not in a big city you'll have to wait longer like the wait for LTE.

No you need to use cellunlocker.net or a similar service.
Thanks for everyone's help. I'm trying to find this information on the Internet, but some of it is like Greek to me.
What bands does att use in US?
What bands does the T-Mobile note 4 handle?
What bands will not be possible on the T-Mobile note 4? Bands 20+29?
Sorry for the questions, just trying to learn and you guys seem like you know your stuff.
ATT Uses:
GSM: 850, 1900 Mhz
HSPA/UMTS: 850, 1900 MHz
LTE: Band 4, 17 (29 for LTE-Advanced)
Tmobile uses:
GSM: 850, 1900 Mhz
HSPA/UMTS: 1700, 1900 Mhz
LTE: Band 4, 12
Tmobile Note 4 Supports:
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
UMTS: Band 1 (2100), Band 2 (1900), Band 4 (1700), Band 5 (850)
LTE: Band 4 (1700), Band 12 (700a), Band 1 (2100), Band 2 (1900), Band 3 (1800), Band 5 (850), Band 7 (2600), Band 8 (900), Band 17 (700bc)
Tmobile Note 4 does not support band 29 but imo it's a small price to pay for an unlocked bootloader. Plus, there are no deployments of ATT's LTE-Advanced network (Band 29/4) in the US yet and depending on where you live it could take years to reach you.

This is super helpful.
So let me ask you, when you say the T-Mobile version is missing the advanced lte bands (20&29), does that mean the phone will only miss the benefit of the next gen lte speeds?
So for example, 20&29 go live in my area, I have the tmo version, I'll still have lte just not super/advanced lte?
Thank you again for your time and expertise!

Ok first thing, band 29 is download only so it is used in conjunction with band 4. Band 20 is for who knows what but I haven't seen any news about ATT's plans for that band. It's not a part of ATT's LTE Advanced plans as far as I can tell. It may be there for international support only.
Yes you are right that you will continue to get LTE just not LTE advanced, and that might be a year or most likely longer before it reaches you. Think of the timeline for ATT's LTE rollout. I researched a bit today and found that Chicago supposedly has the first actual deployment.
Also, ATT has said they are not doing their deployment of LTE Advanced to increase user speed. It is just for network capacity. So you might not see speed increases at all according to ATT's presentation at Mobile World Congress. Tmobile is in a better position capacity wise because it owns more AWS spectrum (higher frequency = faster data). They are deploying wideband LTE.

Unlock service
Can any of you with a T-Mobile device on a different network tell me what service you used to unlock your phone? I saw a mention of cellunlocker.net on one thread, but it says on their site it could take up to 15 days to get the unlock for the T-Mobile Note 4. Is this typical? I've never used one of these services, so I don't know what the better routes are. Thanks!
Att lte advanced has been deployed in NYC since the iPhone 6. It's fast but tmobile is faster I think.

How is network performance using the TMO version on AT&T? Last year with the Note 3, I had such horrible LTE reception I took it back. T-Mobile devices are not optimized for band 17 support. It comes down to: you want a phone that gets a great signal, or you want a phone you can root/rom.

From what I have seen everything should be working fine. If you live in a city that has LTEa you will miss or on improved performance with band 29, but that should not effect most people.

Cellunlocker.net wants $30. Anyone of a cheaper place that is just as reliable?
Would a blocked tmobile note 4 with regional unlock work on att ?
Hi All
Just to add my 2 cents...
I went from a At&T Note3 to TMO Note4
Just put my Note 3 Sim into the Note 4 and am up and running for about a week now...
When I log in to my ATT online account it still shows The Note 3 though but as I said all is well for now.
