Picking your next Windows Phone... What is your priority feature?

Thought this might be interesting if I go by things I read on different threads.
This won't be the case but let's assume you can get any phone on any carrier and price isn't an issue.
How would you pick your next phone?
I allowed for multiple choice but try not to vote for 6 out of 8 or this won't teach us anything specific. And if you picked "Other", what did you have in mind?

Other: gyroscope support and > 1 GHz processor

My most important features: Screen size (less than 4"), Camera (high quality with dual led), and something not there build quality.
I am pretty much all in for the Nokia 800. Second choice is the Samsung Omnia W.

For me there has to be a hardware keyboard - I just hate capacitive touch keyboards.

Price, can't be more than $100 with no contract. And of course, significantly better than my LG Quantum, otherwise I have no reason to upgrade.

I LOVE massive phones, I went from my HD2, to an HD7, and if God would answer my prayers, the Titan would come to T-Mobile, though, soon enough it won't matter as I'm hoping we become AT&T. So, I voted for FFC since it's already a given to me that I'm going for a big phone. Screen type would probably be a close second for me, as I like the HD7 screen, but really wish it were a higher quality, but hey, I'm asking to be spoiled now, right?

It's odd to see one user out of two ready to buy a phone on its brand alone
I personally go for what I find better overall regardless of the OEM.

Yeah I guessed price would come up for many people as well as choice given by the carrier which is why I said in the first post regardless of price and availability

I personally love HTC, I know I'm probably in the current minority, for some odd reason as they're the only phones to consistently update without an issue, but Nokia is also winning over my heart.

I really want my Mozart to be my last HTC ever. But it's been my desire to abandon them since like 2005, and I still was forced to buy their stuff because others were mostly even worse.
In your list, it goes like this: screen less than 4", 16GB minimum (64 preferred), usable camera, 1500+ mAH battery. No pentile crap. Looks are also kind of important, but I can live with something less than stellar.
The leaks and announcements really make me sad, I don't see anything really attractive. SeaRay is almost there but it looks like it'll come with PenTile, so it's most probably a no go...

I'm with FiyaFleye, I like HTC and and have seen problems that would affect with other OEMS that I don't have with my Fuze. Nokia I have no idea on that but haven't had one in 4 yrs and it was a dumbphone. However not willing to wait another 3 months+ for them either. I would like a hardware keyboard with a smaller screen would be first choice, or go with a big screen so I can type well. Extra nick nacks are always a plus if they are usable, and 1 gig > processor for some future app usage is good too.
This list would have been so much easier in Aug before they started announcing phones, I'm just waiting for mine to come to the USA.

I'd love to get my hands on a Nokia WP7 phone, but that could take a while and the HTC Titan is kinda expensive over here.
I'll prolly just get a Samsung Omnia W if I get too impatient, really wanna see what the better CPU/GPU can do for my emulator.
Also I'd really like to see some 32GB storage phones, 8GB is just killing me on my Trophy.

1. Storage, it must be at least 32gb

I will only consider getting a phone that isn't a nokia if the storage space is 32gb or above (and nokia only offer 16gb variants).
If storage space doesn't improve by the end of the year I will probably jump ship to android, even though I prefer Windows Phone my music collection is a must for me.
I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that the Nokia 800 will come in 16gb and 64gb variants like the N9 and thus will be my next phone (in blue )

Manufacturer is gonna come into play for my next WP7. IE i'm not having another Samsung phone.

I went with screen size. 3.5" ish would be good. Also, want good battery life. At least a 1500mah battery.

Funny how so few people picked FF Camera when it's supposed to be an epic fail not to have it since Apple "invented" video chat

I would have bought that Samsung Omnia 7 W like today if it came with 16 GB...

I don't know any one that actually uses the FFC...nothing but a gimmick.

I´m asking myself if I need a new WP in general...
My OMNIA 7 has all features I use daily (less DLNA and skype support).
So today I took a look at the new HTC devices:
1. HTC Omega is too small.
2. HTC Titan is too big for my taste.
The display is much better than the HD7 display but not even better than the OMNIA 7 display. Also the general quality of the phone is very good: less plastic parts and good working hardware buttons (compared with the HD7).
Do I need a HTC Titan 4.7" notebook in my pocket ? I don´t think so.
The upcoming OMNIA W will only have 8 GB, maybe 16GB... is this what I need ? I don´t think so either.
A general question is: Do I really need a FF cam ? How many videocalls I made in the past ? I only made normal voip calls...
I would say the only hope is that the NOKIA Empire strikes back... and I don´t think that the new devices will have more than 16 GB.
I hope that I´m wrong, but I think it´s better to wait 3 or 4 month before buying a new WP.

I never thought I'd say this, but camera is my #1. Since everyone seems to be pinching pennies these days and both of my old 5MP point-and-shoots are just crappy, my phone has become my #1 camera for both stills and video. I remember when cameras first came out on cell phones and I was thinking, "why?" All that, and baby is now 12 weeks old, so I'm taking pictures like crazy!
Screen size is a close second. I doubt I could ever go smaller than my 4" Focus screen at this point.

Nokia's Keynote

There are so many threads on this, but I was wondering more on the fact that there is no Nokia 900. Do you guys think they will release it in like... 3 months kind of thing? I tried to find rumors but couldn't. THe Lumia 800 is so freaking sexy though... My battery life on that thing would be AMAZING. The spec sheet claimed 13 hours of tlak time... anyway back to topic.
So are you guys who planned on getting the Flagsihp device getting hte lumia 800? Or what is your next step?
Please people who never wanted the lumia 800 or the rumoured nokia 900 phone or want to bag phones in general, don't put your opinion in here.

I was hopeing for more then 16gb but i have a zune hd for music so would of just been doubling up though if i was wanting to use my pone as mp3 player this would of been a kicker.

I'm due an upgrade around March time so hopefuly by then the 900 will be out. If it isn't I'm very impressed with the 800.
FFC I really do not care about and 16gb storage is fine for me. I've never come close to filling my 8gb Omnia - I'm a tidy freak, if i don't use something it's deleted.
Only downer for me is the 3.7" screen after using a 4".
I will be going for Nokia next time for sure though.

The industrial design of the lumia 800 is simply amazing, I already have the titan but will be getting the blue lumia for the wife, she won't mis the ffc, the thought of video calling doesn't appeal to her (or me)

Disappointed in the storage space; I don't currently have a smartphone and would like my first one to replace my iPod Touch. Also disappointed in the lack of FFC, though I probably wouldn't use it that much.
Why couldn't they have just given us an N9 with WP on it?

I don't get this preconceived ideas on some media outlets. Why "from Gizmodo of all places"? Maybe you only read some website because you think they're biased but I try to read a bit from all of them. For information this is how Gizmodo reviewed things before this phone:
- Zune HD: they loved it and wished it was a phone
- WP7: they loved that Zune HD turned into a phone, loved the OS, only hoped MS would update it quickly
- Mango: they loved it, just what they wanted from WP7
So really when you say "from Gizmodo of all places" you must really think they're just Apple fanboys who hate everything else when actually recent history proved they're not.

If it is better than the HTC Titan then it is some phone.

This is the kind of statement that always makes me question integrity (ironic given what I said above). Best Windows Phone when it's missing features that are on both the Titan and Focus S, that's a bit odd.

It's quite simple, all websites in the Gawker network are known for from time to time write very bad articles just to piss people off. Because that gives them traffic boosts.
Here are two examples of articles that has been criticized:

They may give publicity to Windows Phone, which is a very good thing (for us), but I can't help to wonder if it isn't just to piss off the MS haters.

This anti-WP7 bias that supposedly exists on review sites is total BS.
Accept it people - it's entirely possible reviewers just don't like WP7 OS or hardware vs the Android and iPhones they're used to.

Quite possible, but that should not preclude an honest review of the inadequacies AND capabilities of WP7 without going on a rant about how MS should give up and concede the market. And for the record, anti-WP7 reviewer bias is not BS.

you know it's part of advertising right? Companies like Apple, MS and Google paid big bucks to splatters their name all over the web. In this case....probable Nokia.
I never trust any review on the web...unless it's by the consumers.

The Nokia might be a nice phone, but all I know is that if I were to settle for such a small phone, I would go with the Focus Flash. I much prefer a perfectly flat screen and the shape and style of the Flash is outstanding. Combined with a better AMOLED display and the style, the Flash is more appealing to me than the Lumia 800 and it has pretty much the same hardware...both are just as featureless, I mean (no FFC and such).

The best Windows Phone to me is the Lumia 800. The Windows Phone with the most bells and whistles is the Focus S.

If Samsung went back to some captivate-esque build quality then I'd be onboard. The lumia 800 just dominates the build quality department though.

It's your right to prefer the Lumia 800 as best for your needs. I just think that as a media outlet that has access to all the phones I find it a bit odd to give this title to this particluar phone when the Titan and Focus S have bigger screens, removable batteries or FFC for instance. You would have to give some considerable weight to Nokia Drive but it doesn't look like it was a factor there.

If smaller screen and lack of removeable battery were ever a negative, the iPhone should have never gotten the 9s it got in every iteration on Engadget. There is little difference between the Titan and 800; both have smaller storage and lack of FFC.
But to be honest, if I was an online reviewer and I had to say which phone is currently the best Windows Phone, I would say the Lumia 800. You may not read my articles ever again
Let us face facts, in the Windows Phone world the experience from phone to phone is going to be so similar that something like looks, camera, and colours could be the differentiator. I have been harping on the lack of colours on these feature phones for a while now. I think Nokia really has something with that.

Sometimes I cannot tell if you're serious with some things you say. The Titan has a FFC and a much bigger screen. Same goes for the Focus S. The iPhone wasn't compared to another iPhone in the ecosystem unlike the Lumia 800. It's not like you had the choice of a 4" iPhone you can compare it to. In the same ecosystem the Lumia is missing features other phones have so to call best WP out there is questionable when this is coming from a tech website reviewer (if you want to believe that good for you). Unless like I said you consider Nokia Drive to be an amazing must have feature.

It was an error on my part. I dunno why you say that about me. I thought we agreed it is a personal thing. Why is a "much bigger screen" a positive thing? The best selling phone in the last 3 years has a 3.5" screen. Yes, there are no iPhone options, but choice is choice, and people choose to own a 3.5" iPhone.
I am wrong about the FFC, my error, but I am serious that I think the Lumia is the best Windows Phone on the market.
All my opinions and needs:
The Lumia 800 is the most gorgeous phone I have ever seen. Ever. This is the RAZR of 2004. The iPhone 4 of 2010.
I am strongly considering getting the blue.
The features that it does lack I do not care too much about. My Defy was 2GB internal, 2GB microSD card. Plenty of space left. I do not need a FFC.
I want a phone that looks good, is easy to pocket and hold, has a nice screen, wonderful battery life, is stable, and has a high end camera. The compromise I am making is in the app department with the ecosystem (no EA scrabble, do they have words with friends?) but I will live.
I am serious. So the Focus S with its AMOLED screen, 1GB RAM, and bigger storage is the best one out of the three to you?

We are def in two different segments from that standpoint. I love my Defy. It is the most compact 3.7" phone I have ever seen. Smaller than an iPhone with a 3.5" screen (thicker but in all more compact). I used a SE X10 for a day and it was a bit of a struggle getting out of my jeans when sitting.
I really wanted an Omnia 7. But I knew WP was not for me then due to missing apps I needed. Then I read all the issues with Omnia and updates. So I would be hesitant to get the Flash. But I agree that there is not enough reason to go from Gen 1 to Gen 2. Its like the HTC wildfire/desire to wildfire s / desire s.
Call me superficial but the N9 had me at hello. When I read the Sea Ray rumour I could not wait. Unfortunately, I read the unlocked version may not be available until 2012

A bigger screen isnt always a plus esp as they have the same resolution and thus the lumia has a higher pixle density and its got the clear black amoledscreen. Big screen = big ugly device that sits heavy in my pocket. I would not only say the lumia has a better screen than the titan i would say it smashes it to the ground. I drive a 7 seater hyundai is that a better car then my old Subaru Impreza i think not. Bigger isnt always better.

i am using samsung galaxy s2 and sick of flashing a new rom or kernel for better performance everyday. it still lags and is not as smooth as windows os or ios.
i had samsung omnia 7 before that and loved it but the only thing that made me sell it was no support for viop on windows phone os.
htc titan looks good and also has FFC a big + for me
Nokia 800 is good too but doesnt support FFC .
Should i buy the omnia 7 cuz the 2nd generation of windows phones dont have anything special and dont impress me that much.
what should i buy? An honest opinion plz.

It looks like the front facing camera isn't a big deal for you since you're willing to buy an Omnia 7, so in that case I think the Nokia 800 would be the nicest phone. But if FFC is important to you, then I would buy the Titan.
Just to let you know, Samsung just released the Omnia W in Europe with FFC and 2nd gen processor at 1.4ghz. Check it out

tbh this isnt a straight question as the Titan and Lumia are 2 differant fish. The big quesition isnt the ffc but more the size. if the big screen is important then there its the Titan otherwise the lumia is a better build and a better quality screen. Plus if its not important to have the size i think the mass of the thing will get annoying.
FFC as said before there is the omniaW that could be a good option for you. I personally would and have gone for the lumia 800 for the reason of quality and style. Its not ony the most stylish wp7 it is im my opinion the most stylish gadget of all time. Plus the screen i amazing and you get the navigation. I know you can hack it to other phones but why bother when you can have the proper deal.

personally i like HTC titan...nice mobile...nice look...this is my opinion.

For me it comes down to screen size and FFC, so the choice is pretty simple... the Titan.

I have the Titan, it is indeed a good looking phone, I need the big screen for my old eyes! However, I was playing with a lumia 800 in a phone shop and they are really awesome in the hand

I vote Lumia 800.

The lumia is a lovely looking phone, but having played with a couple in the shops, the build quality doesn't feel as good as the Titan - the hardware buttons around the side of the phone are a little lose. It feels nice to hold etc... but the screen is just a smidgen too small for my liking (I think around 4" is the sweet spot).
The Titan is just a touch too big as well, but I prefer the Titan being a bit to big than vice-versa. The screen on the Titan is brilliant - the image quality is top notch, and I think it's every bit as good as the screen on the Nokia from first impressions.
As mentioned already, if FFC is important then there's not even a question to be answered. Otherwise, it really comes down to whether you want a bigger screen or not, everything else will be fairly equal.
I really was waiting for Nokia's first offering, but am severly underwhelmed by the two phones they've launched. The leaks were all indicating a 4 inch (or there abouts) phone with FFC etc... which would have been exactly what I wanted, as it is, once they launched their phones, I immediately went and got the Titan, and don't regret it so far.

Lumia for me.
The screen on the Titan is too big for me. I wouldn't want anything bigger than my Omnia 7 as that is already on the limit as far as pocket space goes for me.

[Q] Is this phone really worth it?

Okay so my HTC Inspire has recently stopped working so my father decided to pick up the Nokia Lumia 900 for me at his work. He says that I can either use this or pay the $125 insurance fee and get whatever phone AT&T insurance offers me.
My question is, is this phone good at all? I always hear that Windows based phones are trash so I would like to know if this phone is any different.
If Lumia 900 users could please tell me their experience with this phone, I'd greatly appreciate it as I have never had a Windows phone.

The phone is awesome so far. Don't expect the market to be as plentiful as the play store but the apps they have are good and meet my needs. I am an Android fanboy however wp7.5 has grown on me. Build quality is great and camera is stunning. Over all I would recommend the lumia or the Titan 2. Hope this helps. I plan on picking up a wp8 device next.

It's a middle of the road handset spec wise, but the design is wonderful, and depending on your phone usage purposes Windows Phone is fantastic. It lacks a few features that iOS and Android have, but its own exclusive features outweigh the losses in my opinion. It really comes down to whether or not you rely on apps that aren't featured in its marketplace, and whether the tile aesthetic appeals to you.
I think it's worth your while having a play around with it to see how you feel about it personally. Using someone else's phone for a bit and actually using your own phone daily are two very different experiences...

I love the phone. It's solid, reliable, sound quality is great, pictures are very good, fast. Never crashed on me. Lumia 900 is super.

I couldn't agree more!
I am a Note user myself, but I still enjoy my Lumia 900 as a backup phone...
The Note 2 is a hardware beast, however I think Samsung must stop using cheap building materials if they want to compete in durability.
I haven't seen another smartphone with such great built quality as the Lumia 900, so kudos to Nokia just for that. The Lumia 900 is a tank!

Im going to be honest and clear. The phone blows. I owned it for around 4 months until Nokia and MSFT decided to turn my flagship phone into a legacy device. I always waited for the update to totally improve my lumia but it never came. Anyway here goes.
Camera

-Grainy Pictures
-Video is OK
-Overall Nokia is known for great cameras but this phone's camera is absoleutely ****. It doesnt deserve to be called 8MP. Its worse than the iPhone 4's camera. When I switched to the GS3, the camera was miles better.
Apps
-Barely any apps
-Mainstream apps suck
-no good 3rd party apps
-No (goodwill)
The app selection is beyond terrible. Not only is the platform dead itself because no Windows Phone 8 apps will work on the Lumia 900 but WP 7.8 isnt even out. Furthermore, the mainstream apps are horrible. The twitter app is nothing like its Android/iPhone counterpart and the Facebook app isnt even made by Facebook (Made by MSFT). I will say that Nokia has some good apps but overall the app selection blows. You wont find any big companies like Instagram or Pandora or Gameloft games, but you wont even find apps such as an app for your bank or any other good 3rd party apps for other companies.
(I also want to add that you cant unlock the AT&T Lumia 900)
The Little things
-No orientation lock
-no screenshot capture
-No VPN support
-No Battery indicator (atleast in the statusbar)
-There's a lot others but I mostly forgot since I moved on to the GS3.
Overall the phone is NOT worth it. Sure if you are using it for a limited time, it will be a nice change from Android but its not a long term feasibe option. Everyone who owns one (and who is a techie anyway) has to make a huge compromise. Hope my input gave you some value.

No, I think the Nokia n9 is much better of a buy..
I like wndws phone 7, but I eventually gt bored of it. Don't get me wrong, it's a excellent device.
