Volume keys as scroll keys - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Does anyone know an application to change (selective like for Acrobat Reader or other non audio apps) the function of the volume keys to a scroll function (eg. up/down with „single click“ and left/right with „double click“)? Perhaps via „/system/usr/keylayout/“

Sorry bro, but I only know about scrolling through volume keys in web browser.

Zoom in opera with volume keys?

Hi is there a way to zoom in opera with volume keys in landscape on Htc Blackstone ?
That would be great !
Ciao
Fred
Indeed very good idea. Does AEB Plus allow for per-program settings? That would rock muchly.
I have AEB+ and have volume up/down mapped to arrow up/down.
Zoom on Opera would be nice. So I explored the app on the phone.
Found nothing so looked at the web site and found this in the FAQ (http://ae.inc.ru/aebplusfaq.php):
"
Is it possible to set application-specific keypress bindings?
No, AEBPlus was not designed to distinguish current context. There are two exceptions only:
Red phone button may be set up to terminate current voice call (if any) or perform actions selected otherwise
Volume slider may be set up to emulate original functions if Today screen / voice call / "Phone" application is active
"
it will be great to have zoom with volume keys in landscape just like Nokia N810...

camera

is there any way i can take a pic with button(volume button) instead touch on the screen?
cab file would be a nice. thanks.
Use the Rhodium Keyboard Controller to map one of the volume keys to the "Enter" key when in the camera application.

Map a hardware key to camera action?

Is there any way to map a a hardware key (or better yet, a long-key press) to camera action? I miss my the camera button the most from my wizard.
Start > Settings > Personal > Buttons.
I have my PTT button mapped to my camera but I'm using the Tilt2. I don't think the TP2 has one of those though =/
Thanks for the tip.
I can use buttons to load the camera application, but i still need to hit the screen to take a picture. Is the functionality different on your Tilt2? Ideally i would like to have a hardware button for the camera action.
On the tilt2 I can press the same hardware button that launches the camera to take a picture. Not sure about the functionality difference though
Try looking for the "Keyboard Config" app. I forget where I got it, but it lets you remap any buttons to anything.
It may be a restriction of the rom (deepshining). Thanks for confirming it should work

i just set the favorite "star" button to be the shutter, in Settings->Button
The Enter key actually acts as the shutter button in the Camera application.
Use the Rhodium Keyboard Controller to map any key you want to this key.

Volume buttons up/down navigation?

I apologize if this is a repeat or an obvious question, but...
Has anyone had any success remapping the volume buttons to be page up/page down or simply up/down for any purpose? I'm specifically thinking of eBook readers that require tapping or swiping the screen currently to flip pages. But also perhaps browsers as well.
We saw this on WinMo devices back in the day, but I've never seen it on Android. Is it impossible, difficult, or simply not in demand?
Would appreciate any insight, and thanks for all you do.
I'm thinking an app would be able to hook the volume keys, and override their functionality.
But it would not be so easy to hook that functionality from outside the app you want to affect. You could also remap the volume keys to page up/down, assuming you have root.
Don't know about global remapping, but apps often do it themselves. For example Dolphin Browser HD has settings to scroll the page with vol up/down.

Thank you!
Is there a built-in page up/page down function to which they could be mapped?
It would be more useful to make it either application-specific or a global app to grab them based on which app was running, but remapping might be worth it.
I'd love to see an app that would use the volume buttons as a physical camera shutter button. So much better than an onscreen button.

Thank you so much for the help! That's halfway to solving all my problems!
Page up/page down on a browser would be great as well, but I'm very glad to have this.
Thanks again!

Mapping the hardware keys?

Is it possible to map the menu key (long press) to show all recent apps without installing a custom rom? I am willing to root to get this function but I really don't want to deal with custom roms. Is there maybe an app or something I can flash that can do this? I'm currently stock unrooted with Nova launcher, which only allows me to map the menu key (long press) to recent apps if I'm at the home screen.
I haven't been able to do what you're asking, but have had success enabling the onscreen soft keys. This requires root:

Some things are a little wonky with soft keys: the top entry of the call log is cut off and fast forwarding video with the default player while in landscape mode doesn't work. Small price to pay IMO for easy access to the multitasking menu.
