[Q] HTC Wildfire S bricked and not recongnized (3 vibe) HELP? - HTC Wildfire S

Hi So my friend rooted his HTC Wildfire S the other day and then flashed an experimental version of CM7 on it. Now its bricked and forever stays on a black screen. Occasionally, it will vibrate 3 or 4 times but thats about the only action it does. I tried putting PG76IMG.zip on my sd card and holding power + vol down but that didnt work. The phone also isnt recognized by Windows 7 Ultimate or Mac OSX Lion, but it does charge. Can i get some help on this? Thanks guys

can you get to custom recovery or hboot ?

nope, screen wont even turn on.

Have you tried flashing a RUU?

The phone isnt recognized by windows. it says there is a USB error. Unless maybe i used the wrong RUU?

Where are you?
What network are you on?
What phone do you have?

United states, wisconsin

HTC Wildfire S

You are in Qualcomm Diagnostic Mode. Use Search and enter Qualcomm Diagnostic Mode. Fund a WFS guide and use it accordingly.

i did and the only guide i could find didnt help much. My phone doesnt seem to recognize that the .zip file is on the sd card... i want to use the RUU but my computer wont recognize the phone either, not even as a device listed as "qualcomm device". The only thing my phone does is vibrate either 3,4, or 7 times.

Search foe it again, but use the advanced search, located in the WFS General forum. In a cooler of hours from now, I might help you, if I got the time.

It's funny that about 50 people made a new thread about this problem and none of them took the time to look for a similar situation.

ok ill try again. I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you

still no luck :/ all the guides have me running in circles. I did however find one bit of information that might be of use. I appears that my internal memory may be corrupt. That may explain why its not being seen by windows or adb. Any way of fix thing this?

[Q]HTC Desire HD QHSUSB_DLOAD driver[brick caused by rom manager sdcard repartition]

Dear All,
After I did repartition sd-card with rom manager i can't boot my phone. I mean i can't even get to download or recovery mode. I think it also repartition internal sd too. Right now when I plug in to charge or usb even the red light does not turn on but windows 7 does recognize it as QHSUSB_DLOAD, if can find a driver I think I can flash it with odin but after several hours of searching I could not find any driver suitable for it. Can anybody help me with this?
Yep, odin is probably the right program to use
Here's another thread with the same story.
I know but as I don't have that weird driver Odin does not recognize phone. So I need the drivers called qhsusb_dload...
Actually I would only use Odin with Samsung...
I hope somebody can find solution to this problem, that we flash entire phone without recovery mode... if somebody has the driver please post it...
Ya, I have the same issue.
I wasn`t able to find the driver for my device too. Sad Panda!
...seems like there`s no solution right now. I ll give it to HTC this evening if noone could give THE advice to repair it on my own.
Does anyone know why the desire is crashing when trying to use ROM Manager to partition the sd-card?
Well, I think I will give it to HTC a few hours later today seems to me there is nothing we can do about it.
All the drivers that are needed are installed with HTC Sync. Odin won't find your DHD because it's meant for Samsung phones (and even they have to be turned on in download mode). As your phones won't boot to either recovery or bootloader there's not much you can do.
You are right, I already sent it to HTC. I hope they don't recognize that it's rooted. But as it has already repartitioned the sd-inside, I don't think they will try to recover any data and try to understand it.

yes there is a solution: go to your carrier and tell them my phone is NOT WORKING. they will keep you waiting for 2 weeks, then will give you a new phone. i did this and got my phone a new
I don't know if this helps anyone...... I found the drivers for "QHSUSB_DLOAD" but I haven't been able to do much else. If anyone else finds a way to recover the device please post.
Koush confirmed that this was an issue with older versions of ROM Manager and has since been fixed. However, this happened toe yesterday using the latest recovery and the latest ROM Manager. He hasn't responded to me as of this post. A new phone is on its way from tmobile.

The device is bricked. The drivers don't help. The only fix it to send it back and get a new one.
Update: I can now repair the Desire HD with advanced JTAG recovery. If you need help with a bricked Desire HD, please PM me...
Riff Box Jtaging recovery im guessing.
Now i Dont have riff box, but I have x64 drivers installed and working for the qualcomm port, and QPST sees the phone properly. The only thing im missing are the files to flash.
Edit:
If anyone is needing them; Attached are the x64 drivers for "qhsusb dload"
You can't flash the phone when it's in CPU mode. The only devices that can really do that are the NVFlash units that are the Tegra 2 chipsets. From what I know, JTAG is required. And yes I use the RIFF box and advanced micro-soldering to recovery these particular models. The Desire HD is a very difficult phone to take apart and requires skill in small electronics to not damage components. Despite the build quality, HTC makes phones that are very difficult to dis-assemble.

[Q] Possibly bricked Samsung Epic 4g, please help

The situation:
While rooting my phone for the first time, I was using Odin3 v1.85 and when the progress bar was to about 95%, my power goes out. So, the firmware upgrade was unsuccessful. I now have an error screen that states "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." The problem is, my computer (and other computers that also have the correct drivers installed) will not recognize my phone. Odin also fails to recognize my phone once plugged in.
I can however put my phone into download mode, but seeing as no computer will recognize the phone, it seems fairly useless.
After reading several articles (didn't seem to find any with the exact same problem) from the forum, I am at a loss of what else I can possibly do to keep from pronouncing it bricked.
The thing that is most worrying to me is that I can't connect it to a computer which would mean I won't have access to any of the firmware to possibly make changes.
PLEASE if you have any suggestions on what I can try or need more information about my situation to form an idea, let me know. As we all know these are not cheap devices and I REALLY don't want for mine to be gone....

Do you hear any dings when you connect to the computer?
There are no dings. The computer is not detecting it all, I know there are other ways to check to see if anything is connected and I know for a fact it isn't being recognized as even being there. I might as well have plugged the other end into a banana for all my computer cares.
Can you boot into recovery? (Hold volume up and power button on reboot)
I cannot, I am greeted with the same error message as when booting normally
So, when in download mode, Odin no longer recognizes the device? The ID:COM box does not turn yellow?

That is correct
Try this on your computer. Go to device manager by typing "device manager" in the start menu search. Click on device manager. On the menu bar click on view>show hidden devices. Then in the universal Serial bus controllers look for Samsung Mobile USB CDC composite Device. If you cant see it, try to connect your device while in download/odin mode. If you can see it then right click on it and disable it. Then reconnect your phone again. If you can't see it at all, you might have officially bricked your phone.

1. Not helpful.
2. I've done my research and no freak accidents in the middle of a root that screwed up the firmware somehow.
3. People worry about bricks because it is a $500 device. Anything that expensive that I have personally paid for, I worry about doing things to regardless of how confident I am in what I'm doing.

It sounds like he was listening to the devs and did his research. If you read the OP his power went out in the middle of the flash. This could happen to anyone, including you!
Have you tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them? I'm suprised you can get to Odin mode but your computer will not recognize your phone.
I might have miscommunicated that, I can NOT get in to Odin mode. I was saying that I can get my phone into download mode, but any interaction between my phone and the computer is non-existent.
After trying to get it working before this post I was fairly certain it had been bricked, but figured asking the long shot question of whether or not anyone else had the same thing happen or had some super secret advice (a.k.a. wizardry) that I could try wouldn't hurt. I may have to head up to the Sprint store in the morning and play the dumb customer to see if I can get it replaced.
Hey Logic, this may sound simplistic but have you tried pulling the battery, using a different usb cable?
I have indeed. I know that happens to be the problem sometimes though so no harm in asking.
I've gotten that screen before. It basically happens if ODIN opens up an upload session but doesn't close it.
I was able to get out of that mode by using an USB jig.
As long as you weren't flashing the intl bootloader, you should be able to recover.

Another simple one, try rebooting your computer. We need just a ding from the computer, and there is hope. Make sure you are in download mode, then plug into the computer. Try the reverse as well.

Fully Bricked Galaxy Nexus! HELP!

Okay so my friend bricked his galaxy nexus (Gave it to me because he said its bricked) of course i accepted it lol. But i tried to fix it i did everything i could from reading forums i swear i have worked forever looking for a fix. It is completely unresponsive no download mode. no ADB connection because when it plugs into a computer it shows up as OMAP 4440 or something like that. i have tried all kinds of different drivers and i have tried on multiple computers (Xp, Windows7, even a mac) he said he was flashing the sdcard or something and unplugged it by accident. So i could understand that being a issue since the phone only has a internal sd card. Anyone know how to get it back? i havent seen a Jtag yet for it and i have a Jig for my Galaxy Sii Skyrocket but it doesnt work on the nexus (FYI to anyone out there the jig works on my dads samsung windows phone) HELP!
You tried different drivers? You should just use the most current ones for the phone. Did you try the new toolkit mskip posted? Did you isntall the SDK?

Thanks for the response i didnt use mskips i dont think. i have tried the galaxy nexus toolkit 6.0 or whatever but i have tried all kinds of drivers including the google official galaxy nexus i515 or something like that. it shows up as omap 4440 in app manager and disconnects and connects constantly then says device didnt install properly. what do you mean by the sdk? i cant find any way to access my phone. i think i tried something with sdk but im not sure
Yes i read up i did do that GNex Toolkit v6.0 and it wouldnt find my phone (Because of the omap 4440 disconnect and reconnect thing i believe.
First off, on't use a toolkit.
Second, when you plug it in, go to device manager, right click the "OMAP 4460" and click install driver. Either install PDANet or find the driver online and your phone should be able to be used in fastboot.
Finally, if your (Or your friends) phone was "Fully Bricked" it wouldn't be recognized by the computer, it wouldn't turn on, it would literally not be able to do anything except sit there, the fact that the computer sees it means that it is "Soft Bricked" which is much less serious.

I can get mine into CWM, but whenever I'm flashing a ROM, it reboots itself.
Install PDANet and when it asks for your phone, go into Task Manager and force close the process. This will keep the driver/program installed without needing your phone and it should then be seen in recovery.
Not working still :/

Please Help!
My phone goes into boot loader and download mode however every time I flash Stock it finishes successfully and goes to the same google screen its always stuck on. I'm kinda a n00b so if anyone could help me with this (try to have a lot of detail) I would be grateful. Thanks
It sounds like what I did to my Galaxy Note before I bought my Nexus. When unrooting I overwrote my bootloader with a missed character through ADB. I tried everything, naked drivers, ODIN, all it would come up with was OMAP on the PC. I ended up having to return it to AT&T. Ask him if he was trying to root it the old way through ADB.

samiaziz, make sure you're wiping everything before flashing a stock rom. It wouldn't hurt to wipe system, cache and dalvik and then restart recovery (in advanced menu) and wipe again before flashing the stock rom.
Ok, as long as it shows up, it's still working
OMAP440 is the processor, which means, that is is working, but the bootloader is corrupt, or missing. I'd say it's corrupt (Flash-error)
The best way I've found, check this website: http://www.mobiletechvideos.com and see if they have a JTAG solution... (My JTAG device will arrive in a few weeks )
Even if they don't, send it in, and they'll figure out a way to do that I think they do some special offer, if you send it in for testing purposes...
But, other than that, there's no way I can help you. The firmware is completely fu**ed...
Tried That
I have already tried getting into recovery but that dosnt work. it takes me to the google splash screen
2 words: fastboot, linux.
sent from my i9250
Instead of JTAG-ing it, you could always try this. The maker of the Riffbox JTAG has come out with a solution for unbricking by reflashing the OMAP processor.. Aptly named OMAPFlash.
I've used it with success several times, but also had it fail on me. It can't hurt though, if your phone is already bricked.
If it's coming up with OMAP4460 (even briefly) when the phone is plugged into your computer without a battery, you are able to run the program. You just need to install the drivers for it.
See http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f634/unbrick-dead-samsung-gt-i9250-galaxy-nexus-32gb-prime-via-usb-cable-freeeeeeeeeeee-1465412/ for download.

How to recover from Brick

Simple write up for now...simplicity is the key here....
and let me explain first what I did...flashed a rom using rogue recovery on Caulkins ICS 1.6 I think...
things I tried and did not work...
*zimage script for windows copied went through...but did not work considering system was M.I.A. and SU wasnt present to finish the job...
*hold down button does not bring you into download mode as expected...
HOWEVER...if it seems all you can manage to do is boot into the rogue recovery and the sd cards and backups are all whacky...then you my friend still have a option....use ADB COMMANDS while connected in recovery mode...
adb reboot download
and your phone should now be in download mode...
p.s.-if this has been covered already please disregard and be on your way i suppose...otherwise if this has helped you please hit the thanks button XD
Don't think this will work from a hard brick.
BUT
Even though you can get into download mode, doesn't mean anything you try to Odin will work. It'll stall at data.img or something similar.

and wiped...my phone completely bricked...
no download no nothing...
took me a hour...but then I realized as long as there is recovery I should still have adb.

downloaded modem and data.img with no problems...
sorry I wasn't quick on the reply but guys come on...
I know the sticky is there...this was a complete different situation than anything I seen in the sticky...
and also putting anything on SD card and trying to either flash or restore would not work seeming the sd cards in the recovery are backwards...emmc reads sd card...and vice-versa...

this still doesnt make sense.. either your button is broken, or you werent doing it right..
also, if you can adb into recovery there are hundreds of ways to fix that problem, you are nowhere near bricked. you just have a messed up flash. if your sds are swapped and you cant get to them and flash, thats an error with the recovery, but you can still adb in and copy them to a place you can flash from. you can even flash directly from adb.. but nothing you did from add, nor recovery could restore your download mode. if you lose that you need a JTAG.

[Q] Wind Mobile SIII Hard Brick

I've already gone through a ton of posts regarding hard bricks, so there's a couple of things I would just like to confirm with an expert
How I bricked my phone - One day it suddenly started randomly doing a boot loop, and in order to fix it I booted my phone into CW recovery and tried to restore from an old image. Half way through my phone turns off and gets stuck on the boot screen so I take the battery out and was not able to get it to boot into recovery or turn on ever since
I also bought a USB Jig here: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/191271190580?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT but it doesn't work.
The only other alternative solution I've found in the forums is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439367 I was just wondering if this works 100% so I can go out and buy a 32gb microSD card; also I was wondering if it has to be class 10 or not?
Any help is appreciated! :good:
What happens if you take out the battery, and put it back? Does the phone do anything at all? Assuming it has a charge. The unbrick method works, but don't try that yet. And yes it has to be class 10

If you connect the phone to a Windows PC, does the phone appear in device manager as Qhsusb_dload? If it does, the de-brick method would be one choice. Paying for a jtag service is the other.
Yeah, try the debrick if there is no response. Or jtag as the above poster replied
