I've already gone through a ton of posts regarding hard bricks, so there's a couple of things I would just like to confirm with an expert
How I bricked my phone - One day it suddenly started randomly doing a boot loop, and in order to fix it I booted my phone into CW recovery and tried to restore from an old image. Half way through my phone turns off and gets stuck on the boot screen so I take the battery out and was not able to get it to boot into recovery or turn on ever since
I also bought a USB Jig here: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/191271190580?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT but it doesn't work.
The only other alternative solution I've found in the forums is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439367 I was just wondering if this works 100% so I can go out and buy a 32gb microSD card; also I was wondering if it has to be class 10 or not?
Any help is appreciated! :good:
What happens if you take out the battery, and put it back? Does the phone do anything at all? Assuming it has a charge. The unbrick method works, but don't try that yet. And yes it has to be class 10

If you connect the phone to a Windows PC, does the phone appear in device manager as Qhsusb_dload? If it does, the de-brick method would be one choice. Paying for a jtag service is the other.
Yeah, try the debrick if there is no response. Or jtag as the above poster replied

When I connected it for the first time on my new computer it successfully installed a driver that had Qhsusb_dload in all caps. I'll start with the debrick method thanks!

Hi there! First of all I don't speak english very well.
My Galaxy Nexus hard bricked yesterday.
tl;dr no boot animation, no recovery mode, no download mode, no response from computer.
I thought it had just a low battery level, I found it turned off. So I tried to recharge it but it gave no signals, no battery icon, nothing.
After an all night long recharge I tried to turn it on, to enter in download mode or in recovery mode but nothing works. I also tried to connect it with my computer with and without battery, no response, no "OMAP" device found, no sound from Windows for plugging it in, nothing.
I found this thread here in xda, many people has been redirected to it and found their solution to the brick problem.
I tried to follow all the steps but when I plug in the phone and start the .bat file nothing happens, just stuck on "Waiting for device".
The phone is unlocked and rooted. I'm running AOKP JB-MR1 Build 2 and Franco Kernel for a month, never had problems with them, never installed other ROMs after that.
What should I do now? Should I try to do something or just bring it to a support center? The phone is still in warranty, there would be any problem because it has a non-stock ROM?
I've red about a jig to force the Odin mode, should I buy it? (I found this one)
Thanks for the help.
Have you tried booting into Odin mode

Yes, it doesn't work.
have you your warranty on it?
return it and get a new one
It's hard bricked and a JTAG unit may force it into download mode, if you send it in for warranty, chances are it won't be accepted as it was obviously tampered with and they would find out that your bootloader is unlocked and charge you more money than the device is actually worth to fix it.
I don't understand how it could of bricked if nothing has changed on the phone for a month or longer. Nothing was flashed recently so how can you hard brick the phone?

Yeah, that's why I'm not sure to send it in for warranty. So have I to try with a JTAG first?

I'm not understanding that too, I don't know what happened. Suddendly it stopped working. Maybe is just a battery problem, I'll try to use another one before bringing it to the shop where I bought it.
same happened to me, but I have an untouched phone with stock android. it worked well for over an year until today.
I see a lot of people having same issue, but they say that when connected to PC over USB the phone is recognized as OMAP.
for me the PC doesn't do anything...
any help? thanks

Try This !!
Arrange a 4 ohm resistor and try to attach it in ur usb plug port of phone ..it 'll force the phon eto go in download mode or say Fastboot mode.
then follow a tutorial to flash any rom..
its quite easy else ping me !!

Please could you explain a bit more how to go about this? I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus in a somewhat similar condition. This one is recognised as an OMAP 4430 device. I downloaded OMAP Flasher, installed drivers and tried to bring it back to life but after running the batch file I get this error: Operation FAILED (Remote: : Driver init error 0x00FF8080 - MMC CONFIG FAILURE). Can the resistor trick work on this and if yes, how can I go about it? I am not faint-hearted; I think I can handle it if given the right instructions.
After I tried everything i could from the internet, I went to a shop and tested to see if the USB is broken - and indeed it was. I replaced the USB component of the phone and after that it started.
Thanks guys

Yeah, the faulty USB port is a very common issue.
I was trying out a kitkat kernel which was for our kitkat official but I stupidly used it on an aosp rom and then my phone would only boot into cwm recovery and then I factory reset and it now doesnt even turn on, it shows up on my laptop but im running windows 8 and i havent been able to use the unbrick methods. If anyone can help out it would be appreciated and if i need to send it to LG i know i have breached warranty so what should i say to them?
Thanks!
Can you get into download mode?
Make sure the phone is off. Hold volume up and down at the same time and plug you USB cable into your phone, your phone should go into download mode.
It wont turn on at all, its like all the partitions have been corrupted. I cant get into download mode and when i go into adb it say (fault device) so I think ill need to send it back to LG

Sometimes if you try to charge the phone for a really long time (say 12 to 18 hrs at stretch) - the phone starts to turn on. Try that. and see if you can boot into download mode.
Also, when you give it to LG ... tell them that it is not turning on, thats it...
ok, i tried charging it but nothing happened so ill send it to them and just say that it wont turn on. Thanks!
Once they get it booted up and see the custom kernel and Rom they are most likely going to charge you full price for another phone and of course will not honor any warrantee. As long as you're ok with that go ahead and sent it back for a replacement. with that bein said, it's probably best you tell them the truth so you get accurate info from them ahead of time.

While I was using SM-N910P 5.1.1 N910PVPU4COG5_Deodexed Rom, I changed SecContacts_Note_USA.apk file and it turned into Hard Brick.
It's a typical Hard Brick Hard Brick symptom in which nothing shows up on a screen even I pressed a power button and there is no vibration on the phone.
If I connect it to a computer, QHSUSB_BULK pops up.
After I setup a driver, it connects to Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008.
As I was searching for some information, I could find a solution for Note3 Hard Brick.
However,I do not have unbric.img file as it says on the solution.
I need unbric.img file.

Can you get into download mode? Vol down+home+power. Seems odd that just changing that apk would brick your device, trust me I swap files in and out all the time but never had that issue.

Just install the ROM again it wont change anything besides having to reinstall xposed if you use that, or audio mods like viper.

Ok, for one thing, changing that file will not hard brick your phone.
You either did something else to cause this issue or your battery is drained or kaput... It's not unheard of around here.
Just out of curiosity how do you know the battery is full if you can't get anything from the screen?

I would definitely agree with this. That file alone wouldn't brick your phone. Trust me, as many different files I swap in and out on a daily basis I've never had that happen.

If you are for sure that your drivers are installed. (Double check our reinstall ). Plus make sure your using a Samsung usb cord (musty be a good one)
But if all that stuff is correct. Then you might have a failing battery or phone. That's about all the help i can provide.
If you could at least get the phone booted into download mode and pc to reconize it. Then i would Odin a stock firmware.
sooo, I gues something went wrong... since the new marshmallow images was posted today, there was a thread on reddit on how I can just download the image and rename it and flash it as OTA. The phone reconginzed the image and went half way through the install and then went black. now it wont even buzz or register the charger. Does nothing when connected to the computer either so I assume there is nothing that could be done. Quite a shame, the phone worked quite nicely until is killed it . Anything I can do?

There is one thing I recommend trying as there is a bug in official firmware where the phone when connected to a computer can turn off randomly and not charge or boot. What you need to do is disassemble the phone and unplug the connector at the top of the phone to disconnect the battery and then plug it in.

thanks, I'm aware of that. Some folks experiencing the same issue tried that with no success. My phone is still under warranty and the screw securing the backplate has a seal on it that I dont want to tamper with.
I guess I'll be sending the phone for to Asus for repair...
Don't lose hope.
My phone was in a similar predicament.
No response to any buttons, nothing on screen, no buzzing or LED's at all.
I was able to get it recognized in the xFSTK Downloader and showing up in windows device manager as a Moorefield device.
I tried many times to get it to put the images on the phone through the xFSTK tool and it failed many times.
I was about to give up and tried again this morning and miraculously the writing succeeded and now my phone is in a bootloop (I think the battery may have been completely drained with my attempts to save it's life.)
I have it on charge currently so hopefully when there is enough juice I should be able to flash the raw file and be back up and running.
I see, you can follow the unbricking tutorial in the general section. Works fine for me and saved me from sending it to the service center.

Unfortunately, yes. Because I ticked the "wipe data" checkbox in the ASUS Flash Tool. Not sure what will happen if I don't. :fingers-crossed:

I also bricked my phone and used the method to fix my phone. Make sure you have all the required drivers installed in your pc/laptop before doing this. I took help of DriverMax to solve the drivers related issues. Make sure before installing and running the XFTSK tool all the drivers and everything is installed otherwise you will see blank forms in the Tool.
Here's some background if it will help: I've been trying to install cyanogenmod on my T999L, and at one point I needed to boot into TWRP recovery mode. I got TWRP from the Play Store but when I tried the vol up-home-power thing I did not see an option for booting into TWRP on the menu, so I got Quick Boot from the Play Store and tried to select recovery. When I did this the phone shut off and since then I have been unable to turn it on. I doubt it is a battery issue since I had approx. 50-60% battery left on the phone before it shut off, but I tried recharging it anyways and it will not charge. I am not very well versed in technology so advice would be appreciated.
I've tried vol up-home-power to boot into recovery but the phone doesn't turn on or respond at all. When plugged into the charger nothing turns on and no LED lights turn on either. I have not looked at the battery because I would rather not take the phone apart.
Am I screwed or is there anything else I should try?

All I can think of is the possibility that an incorrect recovery was flashed to the phone and bricked the phone. The only way to revive the phone may be to fix it through a jtag service.

I see. Do most phone repair stores offer jtag services? For instance, could I try asking T-Mobile (my carrier) to fix it? Or should I look for a specialized place?
Most cell repair shops can jtag and the Samsung is a very popular phone. A local T-Mobile dealer may be able to fix it.
It may be cheaper to find a working phone with a smashed screen on your local classifieds.
