[Q]Can I make my screen turn on when I receive messages? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings,
I was wondering if there's any way to make my screen turn on when I receive messages like when I'm getting a call. I usually have my phone on vibrate and if I won't see the led I just forget to check it.

There's an app on the market called SMS Popup that does what you want.

I've tried it and it unlocks the phone everytime I get a text. If I get any message and the phone is on my pocket, god knows what I will sent back

You could try handcent...have an option in settings to turn screen on and i think does not unlock the phone

no, that's working fine here.
For me, the vibrations are dead.
I set the "Vibrate" option to always and activated the haptic feedback, but nevertheless, it's not working anymore...

If you have flashed DoomKernel then it won't Vibrate it a reported issue with that kernel.
How about small contact pictures when sync with google? It was the worst thing in previous fw, i hate it! When i set picture to contact, after sync with google that pix became small Maybe this terrible bug fixed in new fw?
To see big pix when contact calling me is very important for me...

No, it can't be because there is a setting for Mobile Bravia engine in that screenshot.
I, too, want to know how to get Automatic Brightness.

No. I want my phone to wake up instead of going to sleep actually when I receive a text message.I was looking into sms pop-up and iPhone notifications. I just don't want to have to turn the phone on myself every time I get a text message
You would need a third party messenger app like handcent or Go SMS. I personally use handcent since my og Evo days. Pretty satisfied.

check out an app called "no led" found here...https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5sZWQubm90aWZ5Il0.
edit: my bad, try go sms... it has a pop up feature

im sure somebody will make a mode for it, but for the time being, u can use gosms pro as default sms app, it has the option to turn off screen notifications and you can back up and restore ur sms too....if you gonna use go sms, just disable stock messaging app and its notifications.
+1 for this mod.
Will look into it

SMS & screen on

Can someone tell me if there is a way to stop the screen from turning on when I get an SMS as well as stopping the SMS from appearing on the lock screen? It's very annoying and I'm sure over time it cuts into battery life.
Thanks.
Msg. Setting.

Settings in message app and uncheck preview message.
Theres no way to prevent the screen from waking i dont think...custom roms only.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to wait for a ROM then.
Thanks again.
Problem is with preview unchecked you still get a box on your lock screen minus the text info. I believe it just says "message".

chomp
use chomp sms. its quite fast, more customizable than the stock messaging app and actually has an option from preventing the screen wake. i cant say for the other sms applications though, but chomp is good
I have been using Go SMS for years. I really like the customization and settings. You can turn off stock notifications and eliminate the screen wake issue.

Hello, I think I've found what's the problem : it's because of the "incoming PopUp Call notification"
There is a cool feature on Galaxy Note 3, which lets you change the incoming call notification from a full screen notification to a pop up notification. To change the call notification, do as follows:
1. Open Settings and go to Device tab
2. Scroll down and tap Call.
3. Mark "Incoming Call Notifications", so notification pop-ups for incoming voice calls when the screen is on
Glad you figured it out
I can't find it on jt neo though.. are you on jellybean?

Thank you for hilighting
Where did you find it filthykid? I cant find the option.
Edit: Read it somewhere that the option has been removed from Kitkat. :/

The steps wrote above are where the option is located. I haven't updated to KK and will never, when it is out for n7505. But I don't see a point of removing this feature. It is a great feature.
Samsung has removed it though.. :/
