HTC one x laggy over 50 °C

Is anyone have same issue

If it is really 50'C, then it is overheating and it should be let cool down.

I managed to get mine up to 57C a couple of days ago. Running Copilot while on car charger on car dashboard on a hot sunny day. Didn't realise until I took it off dashboard and it was too hot to comfortably hold. Scary, but it survived fine. I shall be a bit more careful in future - don't really like the idea of it getting quite that hot.

Does anyone get yellow spots when it gets that hot?

Yes, I used to have a yellow spot on top of the screen when using the phone normally, but is now only really noticable when it gets hot.

Mine got to 50C today while playing Riptide GP.
Normally it gets to about 48C but I put the game on the highest resolution in the settings menu and it went to over 50C :-o
This is with the newest firmware 1.29.401.11.
Does anyone else experience this?

I think there's also the issue of ambient temperature. Right now in my office the temperature of my phone charging is 27ºC. I presume it's because my office stores dead bodies and so we don't get sick from the smell they leave the thermostat set to 'arctic'. At home where we haven't turned the AC on yet (and the inside temp hovers around 80ºF) my phone gets to 50ºC just web browsing.

I have had exactly the same happen to me with Copilot on a sunny day! Had to shut the phone down and position it by a aircon vent in the car. Don't know how hot it got, but too hot to handle comfortably.
I wonder if Copilot is the culprit here? Anyone had the same with Navigon, etc?

I suspect that any navigation app is going to hammer the phone. There's an awful lot of processing going on. Plus the screen will be on full brightness in the car which doesn't help much.

I am using Navigon.Everything was normal on a sunny shining day(30C too) but i missed the charging cable it was running on battery so its not quite a good comparison but its a guide i think. No overheating no yellow spots nothing at all

Aren't dead bodies supposed to be stored in mortuarys... Though theres a few in our office that could pass for dead sometimes.

I see there's an update to Copilot today that "fully supports the One X". It'll be interesting to see if it helps with the temperature problem.

[Q] I want to fix the cooling issues with my Galaxy Nexus

Basically I've had a Sprint Galaxy Nexus since it launched and I've been plagued with heat issues under even light load, but under heavy load its so bad that it is thermal throttling about 90% of the time after only 2 minutes of use.
And by that I mean it is running at 65c after less than 2 minutes of any 3D game, where it begins thermal throttling to control the temperature, and every game becomes unplayable. The device can easily heat to 60c by simply scrolling a webpage but 65c is the threshold where the device is simply unusable. I know we should expect some heat due to passive cooling rather than active cooling, but in this state, my phone is only good for email and music.
So I'm ready to take it into my own hands and modify my phone. I have no idea what type of heatsink is in this thing as I have not taken it apart yet. I am hoping the issue is simply that the heatsink didn't have proper thermal compound on it and I can just treat it like a PC, but if thats not the problem, I'm wondering if this is going to be beyond my ability.
Are there improved heatsinks for phones on the market? I don't even know where to start

I'm pretty sure smartphones especially this phone don't have heatsinks lol
If you're going to modify, just try out some kernels. Most, if not all custom kernels have Smartreflex control to calculate how much voltage the CPU needs in order to run a certain frequency at the lowest possible stable voltage. Undervolting will help some heating issues.
Remember, this phone can take heat up to 100+ Celsius before needing to reboot automatically to cool down. And the TI-OMAP is not the most heat efficient processor to begin with. It is from 2011.

Really disappointed with under volting after spending 4 hours rooting my device and putting paranoid android my temps have only gotten worse. 75c after 3 minutes of a game

I think his problem is the hardware itself. He said this was a problem see he got the phone from launch. I'm scratching my head as to why he still kept the phone and didn't have it replaced. My phone runs around 55 Celsius on higher load so I think the phone's cooling isn't working right and he should have gotten a replacement.

Actually it depends mine, with a TPU cover and 35 degrees outside, heats up pretty quickly. Right now i'm indoor with air conditioned, Gnex undervolted and fixed at 350MHz, only playing some music + usb charging, and CPU temp hovers around 41C. I'll try to play with it once at home and see if the undervolt actually helped.
Also noticed that some well programmed games (such as Mini Motor Racing), despite the great smooth graphic, they heat up the phone very little. On the other hand, simple card games made my Gnex almost untouchable, go figure.

What is the average temperature in your country ? Because 60 degrees while scrolling a webpage is impossible for me to recreate. These temperatures you are having is not strange when the average ambient temperature is around 30 degrees. If that's not the case then try Slimbean alpha 3.1 which comes with LeanKernel 8.0. Make a full wipe if possible !

I'd say the average outdoor temperatures are around 75f or 24c in the summer,

Question Screen on Time

Hi Everyone,
The F62/M62 is a battery champ for sure, but a lot of reviews indicate that the efficiency is not as great as the M51 with the 730G. Please post your screen on time so that everyone could benefit from it.
PS: I saw in the M51 thread that people were getting 15+ hours of screen on time by disabling a lot of useless apps using Samsung Package disabler pro. Has anyone tried something similar on F62?

I am getting 10hr of screen on time on average on Samsung f62.
Cons :
Other then that I face random heating near camera
GPU is not that powerfull, Jitters while playing in full graphics : cod, pubg, asphalt 9.
It took 2 hrs to charge the phone.
No system app lock.
Pros :
Display is awesome.
Camera is superb in daylight images.
Full Knox support
Waiting for custom ROMs.

Hi everyone,
Just got a new F62 but I don't find this to be a battery champ. I hardly get any screen on time and the usual brightness is just good enough to see the screen in the dark. Attached is my battery usage. (working from home don't need high brightness). Not entirely sure if this is an issue with my device or if I'm missing something that I should be doing (removing useless apps and installing greenify)

Seems like a lot of people don't know how to measure SOT.

Exactly.... i have samsung f62 device. The battery backup is just fab. When it comes to gpu at starting while playing a high end game like asphalt or cod the performance was about 60 fps. Gradually devices gets to heat up and the cpu tends to be slower like it literally drops to 30 in order to reduce heat and yhats a bad thing in this software as of mi and oppo phones the software won't reduce cpu speed even when device gets hot but thats not safe anyway as it may explode. So what's the thing? Nothing just wait for the update of play those high end games in a cool place where cpu gets cooler even when gpu is hot

Lol. I don’t even own this phone anymore. Gone back to using the weak note 20 ultra battery.

So far I've managed 10hr 14min with 26% battery still remaining.
That was 2:30hr using Google nav on max brightness. The rest was mostly watching YouTube with mid brightness. I use digital wellbeing to measure my screen time.
Note: My phone is running the latest F62 firmware and I have partially debloaded my phone with ADB

I am getting 10 Hr average SOT with a full charge, almost 10% drop overnight. Software is poorly optimized. Samsung is doing nothing about it. My phone is under the Flipkart Smart Upgrade Plan so I can't even do anything. This is not the performance of a 7000mah battery, I thought the heavyweight was a tradeoff but it's not. Feel cheated.

I can do between 13 and 16 hours of screen time, if I turn on power saving, limit CPU by 70%, reduce brightness by 10%, I get more than 15 hours easy! I also disabled some apps, which maybe helped the autonomy!

Question BATTERY HEALTH

I just got my 9pro for 3 days and as an curiosity I have diagnosed my device with oneplus care app and it shows that the battery is faulty should I ask for a replacement based on this results?

What's the ambient temperature and how hard is it running? If it's not running a heavy cpu load and the ambient temperature is below 85°F, it shouldn't be as hot as 104°F
While Li's can tolerate up to 150°F operating temperatures in general, in phones a 104° battery temp reading is hot.
It's at the point where I would power off the phone.
Does it still have a good run time?
Once an Li gets below 80% of its original capacity it's not a bad idea to replace it.
Li's can form Li dendrites over time that can short out a cell, which be a very bad event. This is rare though. Any signs of or physical damage are grounds for immediate replacement as they can fail violently.
Replacements are generally cheap. Even my difficult to repair Note 10+ battery replacement cost is only $30.

I think they all show overheat in that app. Mine shows overheat in the ACCA app as well. Probably doesn't mean anything. I wouldn't worry about it.

Replace it. It may only be a temperature sensor failure, hopefully in the battery.
Li's aren't worth taking a chance on as a runaway at the very least it will destroy the phone.
If it's discharging more than 2%@day with the phone power off completely replace it asap and do not attempt to charge it.
Never charge an Li that is near freezing... as it can trigger a firery runaway event.
Charging below 80F can cause Li plating which will permanently degrade the cell.
Never use water on a lithium fire as it reacts to water like burning magnesium, violently. Another reason they can be nasty if they explode near your skin. Not WP bad, but bad enough.

I believe "overheat" is a simple bug. Mine shows the same at all times and battery temp is just fine.

WTF? All of this model is like this?
Note, if it is running at 104F you can certainly feel that. No sensor needed.
Below is a nominal reading for my Note 10+ in 72°F or so ambient temperature.

Same thing here with CPU-Z and I didn't have a single overheating problem, I think it's a bug.

CPU-Z is known for doing stuff like that.
If it's the phone's app it's a different story.

I'm sorry the app is not available on the Play Store so I can't test with it.

Mine also shows the same with one plus care app. I think its a bug. Nothing to worry about.

DevChek gives a comprehensive temperature sensor readout of all sensors.

Not just OnePlus care app ,devcheck ,cpu-z every app is showing the same overheating notification ,but in actuality the device isn't even slightly warm on touch .

That's not good. If it's across the board for this model it's a bad product flaw.
If those readings are used during the charge cycle it could really screw things up.

Maybe continuously declaring the battery as an overheat condition allows OnePlus more control over its charging in the Android OS? Have no idea. Just a random guess. It's likely a bug, but the "overheat condition" that is set could possibly be on purpose. Regardless, it shouldn't be showing the word overheat obviously.

I have contacted some people who own this device and it seems all the 9 pro devicies are behaving the same ,most of them are giving the overheating battery status across various apps like cpu-z, devcheck, OnePlus care etc.

It could cause charging to disengage or not engage at all. If it has fast charging it could completely skew the charging profile if that temperature input is used and could damage the battery. At lower temperatures (>50-72°F*) fast charging must not engage.
It could also trigger thermal throttling prematurely.
I would keep a close eye on it...
*not sure of the exact temperature that is the normal preset. Minimum of 82°F start charge temperature is best practice even when slow charging. It's an electrochemical reaction that needs heat to properly work.

I had a lot of mobiles phones, and this one for me is the hottest... is normal ?

It's "normal. It goes even higher under heavier usage. Snapdragon 888 is to blame here. Don't look for "solutions" on how to "cool my phone down". lol SOC is trash and it's consuming way to much power thanks to Samsung and their manufacturing **** process.

i changed the custom rom, thinking was the ROM ...
is strange because sometimes is cold, then for no reason, and sleeping(not charging) goes to 30º ....
could be the 5G ?

People worry way too much. These SoCs are meant to run hot and throttle themselves long before they do damage. Put a case on it to mitigate the physical sensations somewhat and just go about your life. It's because of complaints like this that companies like OnePlus and Samsung have been selling us devices with forced throttles, impacting battery life by shifting processes to less powerful cores.

Well then you just gotta get used to it running warm or turn off 5G and use power saving modes, use a kernel that allows you to undervolt/underclock.
5G produces a ridiculous amount of heat when it's actively being used. My iPhone 12 Pro Max would get so hot I couldn't hold it when I used the 5G modem for more than a minute of downloading. My OnePlus 9 is thankfully better but still not great and it wastes a ton of power in standby anyway, almost three times what it uses with 5G disabled.
The 888 does run warm when it's firing on all cylinders but I hardly ever notice my OnePlus 9 getting warm unless I'm using it heavily so check and make sure you don't have background processes going rogue.

OP 9pro is Vegas hot in July while surfing and gaming during winter.

Ive had zero issues with device heating. 888 is silica lottery

the max temp i had was 32º celsius ... but like i said, never had a mobile so hot like this

As others have said, it’s mostly the 888’s fault. I sold my 9 Pro as it got way too warm to use comfortably for my use case.
Using GPS outdoors would prompt an overheating message in ~10-15 minutes.
Gaming is also not fun. After ~5 minutes of Genshin you can feel the heat, and after ~10-15 minutes into Genshin it’s uncomfortably warm to hold and makes my hands perspire.
